Hi
I have O2X SU 660 and Im not using it in Korea. Updated to official ICS. It works perfectly fine but on one specific GSM network it have problem of unable to make/receive calls/SMS or if call is connected then sometimes it works perfectly fine or sometimes other person hears "HOSHHHH" sound only and no voice at Su660 end.
Have tried other GSM network sims and it works fine but on one specific network it gives this error.
Could it be a modem issue? if yes then can someone please guide me how to change modem to a international version modem?
I know this is a question but as its related to SU660 so I am posting it here hoping developers would give their expert opinion.

Hi everyone,
I bought a Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000 (16gb) in Singapore and was using it fine on Singtel's network (signed a contract with them). Now I have moved back to Canada and brought my phone with me assuming that all would be ok to use it with the network here. However I'm having big problems with this one network I just signed up with (Virgin Mobile).
85% of the time I cannot connect to it: voice calls and SMSing won't work nor will the data work on it, the only thing it says is "Emergency calls only". Then at other times everything will seem to connect and work fine - I can make calls and use data.
Virgin Mobile will not support me much because they're thinking it's the phone's problem, if I use the phone they gave me (a lower-end model) it works fine.
Here are some details of my phone:
Firmware version
2 2
Baseband version
I9000DXJPA
Kernel version
2 6 32 9
root (at) SE-S604 #1
Build number
FROYO DXJPA
If I check out the status, it usually says this:
Network
Unknown (switches to VIRGIN when it does work)
Mobile network type
UMTS (switches between that and HSDPA and GPRS)
Service state
Out of service
Mobile network state
Disconnected (switches to connected when working, and even when it's not working sometimes)
I have Network mode set to auto mode (GSM/WCDMA). I've tried to switch it to GSM only but that didn't seem to change anything.
I'm wondering if there's some kind of configuration settings I still need to do with the phone? I'm also wondering if it is the network I'm with right now? Virgin Mobile isn't one of the bigger telcom companies here and I'm thinking that if I switch to one of the bigger telcoms, will it work better?
Something else to add - before I signed up with Virgin I was using my phone with a pre-paid service (called Chatr) for voice only and it was working fine.
I'm sure this phone can support the GSM frequencies here.. can't it?
I also still have the Singtel customizations on the phone. Will it help if I remove it?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks a lot!
Ryan
You can always try flashing a different MODEM (Radio) .. And you might as well upgrade to a 2.2.1 firmware, if not GB.
hmm.. do you know where I can learn how to flash my phone to a different (and more appropriate!) modem? also where to find an update to the firmware?

Just search in these forums. It's all there. You can easily flash a new radio package using ODIN. Better yet, try one of the custom ROMs from the I9000 Android Development section.
Hi all, great forum, I've learned quite a bit from just reading all the threads but I have a headscratcher I couldn't find anything on and hopefully someone can answer this as I'm losing my mind trying to figure it out.
I have a Telus Milestone which works perfectly fine with CM7 RC12 on the Telus network in Canada. Every time I travel to Europe or other places it just won't connect to the local network, just emergency calls.
I tried every single baseband in AOR 3.3 but nothing works. I also tried different roms (Cronos X 1.5, FroyoMOD 2.9.1, wiping phone, factory reset, etc.
Even tried the Moto Defy baseband switcher with no luck. AFAIK this phone is capable of 850/1900/2100 bands.
Really appreciate any help!!!
Well, according to this - http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php/1641030-Does-the-Telus-Milestone-support-2100MHz-3G - Telus Milestone should support European frequencies, but not 2g and it have same hw like MM for Europe.
Some time ago I was a TelusLite rom for Milestone user and it was working well with 2g and 3g after change to Germany baseband (in Poland). Without baseband change it was only working on 3g.
Maybe you need to flash some European-compatible rom (eg. FroyoMod/CM7) and then try?
Thanks for the quick reply.
I tried changing to Germany baseband which should work but it doesn't. In my case I'm trying to connect to Orange Romania which uses 900/1900/2100.
I did try FroyoMod which is Italian if I'm not mistaken, it was developed by 89luca89. Also tried different flavours of CM and Cronos.
It almost seems as if I have to unlock first or maybe Telus is blocking my account from roaming... is that even possible?
I've ordered an unlock code from cellunlocker.net, hopefully after unlocking I can use a local SIM and see if it connects.
Thanks for the help!
Hm. It is strange that it doesn't working on every rom.
Maybe Telus don't have an agreement for roaming with Orange Romania? I think that it is a problem with one of the cell operators, not with your phone.
Good luck with local SIM
Yeah, strange indeed.
I doubt it is Orange RO as I tried it in Paris, France last week and it wouldn't connect to any network there either, Orange, SFR, etc. A couple of months ago I couldn't connect to Cubacel either. I just figured the commies don't like Canadian smartphones. LOL
I have a feeling Telus has my account locked from roaming. I'm praying the local SIM will work.
Thanks again!
Well, just as I suspected, Telus must have the SIM locked from roaming. The unlock code from cellunlocker.net worked like a charm. Phone connects to local Orange RO network, full 3G data connectivity too.
It's good news I'm happy that you managed it to work.
Looks like Telus don't want you to use other operators. But there is no impossible things
I bought a unlocked Samsung Galaxy tab t-mobile version running overcome kratos,
it has the call icon but when you try to make a call, the call cancels out. the 3g data works great just no call function I think I need to add a modem but not sure which one & how. I was looking at the Galaxy Tab modem list forum
would a T mobile Stock Modem work for me or something else
(the guy I bought it off said the phone works but its clearly not set up fully yet)
model: p1000
Firmware 2.3.3
base: t849uvjjb
Kernel version 2.6.35.7 overcome v3.3.1 #101
Using overcome v 3.1.0-kratos
Canada Wind-mobile (same as tmobile 3g 1700/2100 ban but they have no EDGE 3g only)
any help would greatly be appreciated thanks in advance
I also have a SGT7 on Wind. I have done some reading and the problem is that the TMobile radio does not support both 3G Data and voice as the Tmobile tab was not designed to act as a phone. People have flashed a different modem (euro or asian I believe) but you will loose 3G (Wind Home) and will be constantly roaming on Wind Away (incurring charges). I have also read that people have had limited sucess flashing a Galaxy Vibrant modem (I believe they use the same modem hardware) but there are so many different users on various networks that finding someone who got this to work on an AWS network is a difficult task.
I was considering giving this a try myself but havent taken the plunge yet. I was also on the Kratos 4.0 rom but found that my Tab was restarting itself when playing any graphics intensive game. I have switched to the Russian stock rom and have found that the Tab is quick and gets solid battery life.
By the way, I activated my tab on the Super Smart $29 plan and have been having great sucess with this combo.
Hope this helps.
Thanks phone swapper I was starting to thinks no one cares about the newbies here
I was thinking of using a modem switcher but that still would not solve the 3g calling looks like we may have to use a mobile voip to get by til the code is cracked, if I find something I will let you know.
Hi everyone, noob here so dun wanna start a new thread with my question since it is related to this matter and I was wondering if anyone can help me because I really can't figure it out anymore.
I have an International GT-i9000 purchased with Hong Kong and system specs I have running are
Gingerbread.ZSJW4 (recently flashed the official ROM from Hong Kong cuz I am anal and want to keep the same languages)
Kernal: 2.6.35.7-I9000ZSJW4-CL1147074
[email protected] #2
Bandbase version: i9000ugkg3
And I use AT&T in New York (I know, worse plan to use in dead zone capital of the US)
I had flashed the ugkg3 modem on it because the JW1 modem that was with the official ROM wasn't working out for me and I had heard this modem was the best for my area. Before it would either not pick up a signal when coming up from underground or the signal just go dead, which did not happen when my phone was on Froyo (on Froyo I did not have 850mhz enabled and it worked alright outside and sometimes in the house)
At first, the KG3 modem worked wonderfully, I was able to receive data in my house and was on 3 bars (compared to none to one before). However, I now notice that while I do have full bars, I cannot receive or send messages or phone calls (even though my brother's Note is able to do all that and it was next to my phone).
I also happens when I am outside as well.
The other day I was standing in front of the AT&T store near where I am and I still don't pick up a signal.
Or it would lose the signal and never pick it up again.
Unless if I really can't use 850mhz on my phone, which does not make sense because AT&T uses 850mhz.
I am real hesistant to try another modem, and I cannot figure out if it is a hardware issue or network issue, or is it just the wrong modem?
Can someone please share any insight?

my other question is, phone is not ICS, and I found the nexus S one...will it still work?
and can I just extract out modem.bin and flash via ODIN ?(somehow my phone won't do CMW recovery...)
OK, so I have an international N920C. Used to have AT&T and it worked fine, bluetooth and all.
Recently, I switched to T-Mobile, so flashed the phone to an N920T rom. Wifi calling and voLTE work fine, call audio works fine, and all calls placed from the phone work great.
When I use a bluetooth headset or handsfree, though, it gets weird. Bluetooth calls that go out over wifi calling work just fine- no problems at all. Same with voLTE- works great. However, when I'm not on wifi and place a bluetooth call over the standard cell network, the phone immediately reboots once it's dialed.
I'm using this ROM: N5 Express 4.0 and this kernel: Stock_Modified_Kernel_SM-N920TW8
I've also tried the latest arter97 n920t kernel and had the same problem.
When I flash arter97's n920c kernel, bluetooth works fine on cell network calls, but obviously I lose wifi calling.
I suspect it may have something to do with the TMO modem getting all jiggery-buggered with the international hardware, or alternatively some sort of kernel issue, but don't know enough to figure out where to look.
Any advice, thoughts, or ideas greatly appreciated!
Hi, can i flash N920c to my N920i?
