Wow! This is huge news.
In other news I'm stuck on Rogers for another year.

Interesting, post a video for sure

Agreed, video or it did not happen

The screen capture has wrong resolution...
I don't think its n4

I highly doubt that it really works. Don't you think that it's just the Nexus' DC-HSPA+ being referred to as 4G in Android?
It would make sense, and it's also capable of up to 42 mbps
Anyway, did you modify anything?
Running a custom or stock ROM?
You really made me curious, though. Especially since there is in fact an, obviously not active, LTE chip in the N4.

The aspect ratio is the same as if it was 1280x768. It's most likely just a downscaled screenshot.

This has already been answered and discussed at length. Conclusion, it doesn't have the necessary amps or antennae.

Only if the OP changed the aspect ratio of the screenshot and it doesn't really look stretched (the gnex has 1280x720, the n4 1280x768)
The aspect ratio of the screenshot is the same on the N4.
I posted about it on the 1st page.

Verizon's LTE is Band 13 (700 MHz), Telus LTE uses Band 4 (2100/1700 MHz).
I have no problem admitting I'm wrong about this if it can be proven.

AT&T doesn't even have HSPA+ support yet. A lot of places still don't even have 3G yet.
Using the speedtest.net app I've hit 4885kbps (which is a lot lower than my best results with the x10) but it is HSPA+ territory if I'm not mistaken.

That sounds about standard download speed for 3G. But alas you didn't say if that was up or download speed. Hspa+ territory is 22mb and up I think. Don't feel like looking it up again so I may be wrong entirely

The only things that AT&T currently sells that are HSPA+ enabled/capable are those USB dongles for internet plans. Some are even LTE capable.
Hmmm, not really an answer to the question though. I've been all over the forums and Google trying to find out if there are currently any modem releases for the Captivate that will enable / support HSPA+ speeds.
There is no consensus. Seems that some folks think that HSPA+ is just having HSDPA and HSUPA enabled on your device with the likes of the TLJL3 and other modem variants that enable HSUPA.
Others say that there is no currently available modem that supports HSPA+ speeds. So I ask plainly, which is it?
If there is an HSPA+ compliant modem, where do I get it so I can port it over and get rocking and rolling?
Huh? No responses?
Is the answer just that obvious, or does no one know the answer?

How much is the adaptor? And I wonder if we can disable the phone screen during video playback? This combined with undervolting would mean epic battery life when used as a video player.

It sounds geek awesome, then I asked myself what I would ever use it for that I wouldn't use my Xbox or ps3 instead. Nothing was the answer.
I would use it so i could turn my n4 into a Nintendo/super 'tendo console and relive the dream. Some people could use it to record them self and see it live. Steve Wozniak would make live smartphone porn.

I am in the Twin Cities, MN, so I have LTE in various places. I won't be able to compare to my EVO because it's not active on my line, but I'll post speeds later tonight when I go through an LTE zone (thank you Micro Center for being perfectly placed...).
Testing now. I would like to go S-Off before I test, but I guess that can wait.

[R&D] Unified ROMs?

Heads up, if you want one on Sprint, you can order the same device via the Play Store as well.
I'm pretty sure this also means one "Nexus 5 Android/Original Development" Section for all 3 carriers (ATT/TMobile/Sprint) and there won't have to be separation between ROMs. (maguro/toro/toroplus)

There will be at least 2 versions, D820 and D821, these will need different kernel/modem etc probably, but they should be similar and since its nexus it should be pretty easy to fix for both in either seperate or same file.
Also, this is a question, so no, it doesnt belong in Development.

I believe it does fit under [R&D], which is allowed. This is something that is useful to be discussed.
Even though you may have the "North America" LD-D820 and the "International" LD-D821, you will not have all the splintering from the carriers. With the gen3 Galaxy Nexus, it wa always, does this work on Toro or just Maguro, etc? ONE version of a custom ROM for all of U.S/Canada will be great.

I'm on Sprint, and being able to grab a flash the same .zip that AT&T users flash is something all OEMs should adopt.
Also even though officially it's not available for Verizon, it runs on the Verizon CDMA/LTE bands, meaning with some ESN tricks (that I won't mention), one could easily get an N5 working on Verizon.

I apologize for bringing this thread back from the dead but I figured it was worth noting that the USSD code *#*#873283#*#* works on T-Mobile although I have no idea what it actually does. Tired it on my phone and it responded with "check-in succeeded". I googled it and it apparently has something to do with Sprint, even though I'm on T-Mobile??? Strange.....
