[Q] Dell Streak car mount options

Hi all. I am hoping someone here can help me find the right car mount for my Streak. Its in an otterbox commuter case. I want a mount that will fit the Streak securely while in the case and also be able to charge the phone while mounted. Would appreciate any input.

Have you used the search option or looked on ebay or done any work at all? There are a bunch of threads already including one i made, if you search "dell streak 5 car holder" in ebay you will find what you need!

I actually found one at walmart in the automotive department. $15. Fits perfect and leaves room to plug in the charger.

i just ordered for my Dell Streak .....I am from India and if u know the roads here are not so plain , quite much unstable ................so as a whole it passed strenght test also

I tried it and it's horrible. Wont stick on my car and the streak wont stick on the holder

Just ended up using some little brackets and vhb double stick tape. Hasnt fallen off sknce and my xar is a very stiff ride, I feel every little bump

I'm considering buying the offical car kit, It's quite expensive (£30) but I think it will be worth it.

I bought mine the day u posted this on e-bay and its the best for the Dell streak 5. arrived in the mail last week (the both of them) the original car mount from Dell is fantastic plus u can use the XM-Radio vents .pocketables.com/2011/03/xm-radio-vent-clip-mount-fits-dell-streak-car-kit-holder.htmlwhich gives u a better and closer feel to the device while you drive. Buy both from e-bay cheap. Please view link below

Slipgrip makes a great holder and they have versions from naked to otterbox defender and all in between. Check them out on ebay

Keyboard ?

My n7 gonna be in my hand tmr and it would be for school note, so im trying to find a good keyboard for this ? Any suggestion would be nice

i've got one of these. works fairly well, but can take a bit of getting used to.

I really like using my Microsoft Arc keyboard. It's pretty much full size, but I can't type anywhere near as fast on anything smaller. It's slick, light and has a carry pouch. Tiny dongle into USB OTG cable.
I also have a mini bluetooth keyboard that is about the size of my phone. It's ok, but not any great advantage over the on screen keyboard.

Out of all the bluetooth keyboards that I have seen, Logitech one is by far the best.

I'm using my old Galaxy Tab keyboard/case. Had to shim the bottom to get it centered in the case, but it works reasonably well.

Has anyone else tried it?

I've got one too. Great to haul around for note taking. It fits well in a bag since it's ~1/4" thick up until the battery compartment. Just wedge your N7 under the thin part and let the back of the keyboard sit off to the side.

Just got another comment from the Amazon thread, and apparently it doesn't fit the Nexus 7 very well:

The Nexus 7 is not a good fit. The adjustable clip doesn't quite get tight enough, and the Nexus 7 will slide out from the sides. However, it does work to hold it upright.

You know what would kick ass? A Microsoft Surface-like case - with a kickstand in the back and a hard cover in the front that is also a keyboard.

I purchased 3 different ones just like that. they all work with NeXus 7 no issues. The top arm moves up and down and fits the NeXus 7 just fine. I even have it with the NeXus7 case on it. then it becomes a tight fit.
But it does work, and for 10-15 bucks depending on which one you purchase.

Naw, not quite:
If you turn the case sidewise, the Nexus slides out. Keeping the Nexus inside its case makes it a good fit though.

Tetrax mount

Any experiences?
Does anyone know if a xtray tetrax can hold a nexus 7 in a car?

At about $20 per magnet that's about $35-$40 to mount it. Of course you'll have tons of extra discs to stick to other things or to about 3 different cases at once
If it was more like $20 for the pair I'd get one.

I agree, the price is the only thing that's prevented me from ordering already. I'm suprised there aren't any similar alternatives other than the standard magnet mounts that have been around for years.

And I have a weird dash with pod very similar to the video so the magnets would be just about perfect for me. I just won't spend that much

Received the Terax, but not the hard-back cover yet. Fixed the Tetrax to the dash and test-fitted the 'clips' that attach to the device.
Although the instructions state to apply the clip to the device above half-way, this wouldn't suite my layout. I'm glad to say after testing over speed ramps/sleeping police men, the tablet didn't move a bit.

Was the tape necessary or were you just testing? Its aesthetically displeasing.

Assuming the mount bits stay stuck to the TPU case, I think you got a winner. Looks very good.

Exogear car mount and replicas

So I've been looking at car mounts and the Exogear is the one I like, but I find it a bit expensive. I found plenty of replicas on Ebay such as:
Cheapest I found
Another cheap one.
Even there are differences between the replicas - the suction pad is different between these 2.
So do you think these are good enough? Comparable suction? Durable enough, so they don't break within a month?
What do you think?

I've had the "Arkon SM410" for months and I love it. Look it up on Amazon. Works perfectly on my Note II.

Hi I have second one.
It's OK for time to time using. Mounted on front window with phone its little shaky during ride.

So I ordered THIS one and used it on a 60 miles trip today.
For its price I am very pleased with it. It holds the phone securely and while it's a little shaky on a bumpy road I don't think that it will fall off the window.
I've tried to put it on different surfaces, but it will only stay on surfaces that are completely smooth. My dashboard wasn't, so it didn't attach well to it. Glass - no problem. It is very secure. Polished wooden furniture - no problem too.

You get what you pay for... you can do like me and buy about 5 or 6 different ones that are cheap and shake rattle and roll as you go down the road...
Or you can bite the bullet and pay ~$70 and get the best mount out there. ProClip

I got an exomount 1 off ebay
It's definitely one if the easiest mounts to insert and remove the phone.
Its great that I can use it with a case
My only complaint is it is a quite shaky and also the phone moves a little in the mount due to the narrow width of the clamp

I wouldn't trust a cheap holder to hold my expensive phone...:angel:

The iOttie mount is solid and WILL attach to irregular surfaces, like a textured dashboard. Mine came in today, and it is very sturdy, haven't got a chance to use it yet. Other folks here have confirmed that it sticks to dashboards with no problem, even if they aren't smooth.

Is it shaky because of the spring in the clamp maybe not song enough? Or something else

It bounces because the arm from base to ball joint is plastic and quite skinny so it's not real solid.

Invent car mount

I recently bought a car mount for my note 2 which fits in the air vents of my car, from 'invent'. Despite what they said on the web store, it does not fit my note 2, so I get my money back, no worry about that. But does anybody know of an alternative that will fit the note 2? I specifically want an air vent solution, so others will not do.

Isn't the phone a bit heavy for venting? Any vent mounts I've ever used cause the vent to roll down and put the phone at an awkward and unusable angle.

No need to re-invent the wheel I have been using for years Arkon Mega Grip mount and been using it for the last year with my Note 2 (also Slim Grip Ultra works great, check it out in my review, in my signature link below).. On their site you can just select type of your phone and your car and the configurator will find all versions they have for your combination.

iOttie is good, but doesn't work well at all with Zerolemon battery. Trust me, I tested and reviewed them all (check out my signature link). Slim Grip Ultra is the only universal that fits everything up to Note 2/3 and 7"/8" tablets and it will hold a heavier phone even with ZL battery.

Yep, that one is good too and working with ZeroLemon as well as Defender. Btw, you can get these for about $2 plus change on ebay if you don't mind waiting 2-3 weeks for shipping from SH

I have this and works really good, should fit anything phabet sized even with bulky casing. While I had read reviews that it sticks on any flat surface but I hadn't tested its strength, it has been on my windshield for more than 6 months and never fall off on its own.

It is very interesting and perhaps finally right for me, I can only use the dashboard rough, please let you do tests to see if it really holds on a rubberized surface and rough? and a secure link? would not buy his fake.

Can't help testing because I wouldn't wanna dismount it from my windshield and go through the cleaning process, but here's a review I found on google, you may read and decide, heh.

I have no idea about the problems people had, it has been in my car for a while and still working great. I live in an asian country that has hot climate through out the year with my car always parked under the sun, so i'm not sure if its the hot wheather.
