hey people.
first sorry about my english.
I have a problem when I install cm10 [the last nightly build] its stuck on androig logo.
I try more nightly builds and also them stucks.
what can i do ?
Which rom were you using previously? Stock, CM7, CM10 or other?
If not CM10, you need to create and ext partition on your sd-card! You will find a great tutorial in my signature (or use MiniMod OR's SD Tools Menu).
So all you need to do is:
1) Create a decent (at least 512MB) sd-ext partition.
2) Wipe everything (cache,dalvik-cache and even data). (Backup all your data before)
3) Install the latest nightly and GApps.

i want to install CM10 .
If there is a better Rom tell me..
Follow the guide in my signature. It is for CM7 but the process is the same for CM10.
The only difference is for CM10 the sd-ext partition is a must. (At least 512mb)
....
I dont understand this.
I was used CM10 14/8/2012 and it work well but it have bugs and i back to CM9.
Now have alot of new builds and they have the same promblem with the android logo.
Tell me what your CM10 build ...
Create an ext partition on your sdcard.
(Follow the guide to know how to do it)
Make sure it is at least 512MB.
After it is done, flash the latest build and your good to go.
....
Hey again..
before i do this levels and wipe my phone i wanna to know if CM10 worth that.
have any special bugs?
your phone carsh alot?
thank you !!
Make a nandroid backup and see for yourself.
If you're not satisfied -> restore the backup

After i flash DT a2sd beta 4 , i entered into boot loop
My phone wont boot
Whats the problem?? do i need to wipe sd-ext also
(As it may contain previous rom's app data?)
Thanks in advance
Please help!
wipe everything including sd ext or use nandroid backup if any( i usually make backup before flashing dta2sd ).if ur using cm 7.1 u can try S2E app available in market which does the pretty same job but its with gui so its easy to operate

Thanks for the reply!! m i right tht wiping sd ext wont format files on sd card?(fat i mean)
I still get into boot loop after wiping sd-ext b4 installing DT a2sd
is there anything to do with the kernal
I would try doing a full wipe (including system) then flash everything a new. ROM, gapps then DT. If you don't want to lose your app data just backup with titanium backup.

Which recovery are you using? - your ext may be messed up...
I'd like to flash MIUI or CM7. Right now i'm using Gueste. Should i go back to EXT3 or just wipe everything and install MIUI or CM7. I'm a bit confused, because i searced before posting and others say that MIUI/CM7 are EXT4, others that you must flash back to EXT3. What's true?
Just install CM7
Older releases was EXT3, but since their stable build CM7 are EXT4.
No need for format.
You might need a data wipe anyway, so do a backup before installing.
You need to wipe all system for installing those ROM. And to be sure use back to ext3, it's always better to do this as ROM that run ext4 make the conversion anyway.
Hello!
As always do a backup first - SMS, contacts, calendar via MyPhoneExplorer and Apps via Titanium backup.
You can to a full wipe from cwm and then install the latest CM7-Kang - and don't forget gapps...
...afterwards you can reinstall you data and you are good to go.
CM7 support both EXT3 and EXT4 – and usually does a EXT4-conversion on the way.
I don’t see any necessity to go back to EXT3 on the way…
flash miui rom (you will find a lot of roms in dev section) or latest cm7 kang. it's your decision, both rom's are stable.
but go back to EXT3 first. that's the safe way
Hello, I'm currently experimenting with different roms like CM7, darky and onecosmic 4.0.3.
So, if for example I want to go from a gingerbread ROM like CM7 or Darky to 4.0.3, do i need to wipe INTERNAL SD before I do it? or do I just install straight from CWM ?
you don't NEED to format it but it is recommended so there are no "leftovers"from previous apps and ROM
But be sure to read the instructions from each ROM you want to install

OK thanks.
You can simply delete those folders which you didn't created ! Don't be confuse you need to do wipe in CWM which will not do delete internal sd but only internal rom.
Hi,
I constantly run into "not enough space" problems and the phone starts to get really slow due to this.
So I tried everything possible with my rooted nexus, removed apps with Titanium and so on.
But to no use, Dalvik Cache alone is over 60MB.
So I read that you can partition your SD-Card and move stuff from the phone over like the cache and app-storage.
Also I want to install CM for the first time cause I like to have additional options with the kind of kernel. Like support for battery calibration.
I'm a bit unsure about all this.
How many partitions do I have to create on my card?
What size should they be? (card is 16 GB)
How do I install CM with all this so it uses the partitions?
Is there a DAU step-by-step tutorial for this you can recommend?
Usually a 1GB ext4 partition would suffice. Some use smaller, some bigger, but 1GB is about average.
You can use Gparted to format it if using Linux. Otherwise I'd recommend installing 4ext recovery on your Nexus and use that to partition your SD Card. You could also use Amon Ra recovery if you have it, but avoid using cwm recovery to partition as it can cause corruption.
Finally what version of CM are you using? If BCM CM9 then that has mounts2sd built in.
If CM7 then you can try a multiple of options, including s2e, links2sd, darktreamer or even mounts2sd.
Everyone has their favourite, but I'd recommend you start with s2e which you can download from Google Play. It has a handy GUI.
Ensure you take a full backup of your card before partitioning it. Especially unsure you have good backups of your photos and music.
I use titanium backup for backing up apps. Use this before backing up your SD Card, so that your backup contains it.

Thanks for your reply.
It is my productive phone so I need a stable and fast rom.
Thus I plan to use the latest stable cm which happens to be 7.2 if I'm right.
I'm running Ubuntu on my desktop so I will def. use gparted
So do I get that right:
- wipe my card and partition it with gp
- then wipe my phone and flash CM7.2
- then install s2e (or else) and setup to use the partition

That's right, but imo it would be easier if you install another recovery and do all steps directly from your phone. Also its not necessary but recommended to fully wipe your card, you can just create the ext partition and maintain the other things you have.
what recovery can do all this?
There are lot of them, but I like 4Ext recovery
Okay what I actually did was:
- install ROM Manager
- install clockworkmod
- install Cyanogen via ROM Manager
- clear all caches and storages via the clockworkmod
- partition via clockworkmod (no swap)
- reformat the partition from ext3 to ext4
- install s2e
- choose mount-to-ext4
- reboot
- select what to move (no download cache)
Thanks to all!

Try do download an app from Google Play or update an app when using S2E and see you have any problem (e.g., reboot or can't update error message). I had problems with S2E when using CM7.

I really recommend you to stay away from Clockwork. I had a lot of problems with partitioning.
I thought I was a faulty SD Card ,so I threw it away but I was the recovery fault.
I have been using 4EXT Recovery for a while now and I still have encounter my first problem.

Yes I read that too somewhere else, that is why I formatted with gparted again.
Works fine so far, no problems.
i can't restore a file back up (back up by 4EXT) by CWM 5.0.0.2.
It don't work "restoring sd-ext....."
Use 4ext recovery to restore your 4ext backup

Still works good except it killed my 16GB card. I'm now on a 8GB. Hope it doesn't die too.

Hello I am newbie here.I know there is a thread for how to instal CWM recovery & how to flash custom roms, but I find that method very confusing . I have upgraded my phone to Gingerbead 2.3.6 using ODIN player (Build number:- DDKQ8). I have already rooted my phone using that zip file method. Now I want to install CWM recovery v5.0.2.6. Here are my questions.
1. Do I need to install CWM recovery v 4.0.0.9 first & then need to update it to 5.0.2.6 ? If so, how to do that?
2. After installing CWM, I want to backup my current OS,which is an official GB 2.3.6 update provided by Samsung for my country. How to backup it?
3.I still use 2GB sd card,so how much space is needed in my sd as well as internal memory while installing custom rom?
4.After installing new rom will my data stored in sd card (app backup files, music files, pictures etc.) get erased?
5.Please suggest me a good custom rom which has:- great battery backup, good interface, exciting features, fast response etc.)
Thanks in advance!
WellCome..
1) No, you can directly install 5.0.2.6..
2) In recovery You will get options for backup and restore..this will take the backup of your current rom and you can restore at any time through it..
3) No need to make any free space..if you are not using any ext partition..
4) Not At all..it wont touch your sd card data..
5) It depends on You,Which Rom you like..read their thread for more info of the rom..

Sorry for asking u again, I am going to flash Apocalypse final 9.7.2012 ROMhttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1700749 , but I have few questions. The installation procedure is as follows:-
Installation Procedure - Step 1 (rom)
1. boot into CWM5 Recovery
2. wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik
3. format cache/data/system/sd-ext
4. MOUNT DATA
5. flash APOCALYPSE-17.06.12
5. reboot and complete the setup wizard
What is mount data? I can't see that option in CWM 5 or is it suppossed to be mount/data ?
also it's a barebone ROM, so from where i can find essential apps like sms, mms, camera? also does bareback ROM contain google apps like gmail, gmaps, navigation etc. ?
Thanks in advance!
