Basically no phones actually have a 32GB limit, regardless of what their manufacturer states. If you format 64GB cards to Fat32 they basically work with everything.

Like I said I only ask cause in some reviews of phones they say it can take an SD card up to 32 GB.

SanDisk 64GB SDXC

Hey guys
I received a 64gb class 10 sandisk from amazon today, and when I first plugged it into the supplied reader my mac book pro gave lots of errors
Now the note 2 says either a corrupted or blank card has been inserted and most of the windows apps I've tried always fail to format!
Is there anything else I can try?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 2
All you have to do is use disk utility on your mac and format it to fat32. Itll work after that. Very common.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
Format it to exfat should be better for sdxc 64gb card. Since Note 2 and S3 offically support 64gb sdxc exfat should work right out of the box.

With mine it wouldnt even acknowledge that it was in the phone... again, common issue. Just formt it with disk utility. If you are using windows, google "fat32 format gui windows" and theres a program that works very well and is super easy.

If you try to format it on your computer, I believe it will only do up to 32GB. I tried this once on a 120GB external hard drive, and the computer wouldn't do it until I partitioned it and made a 32GB partition.

Sounds like a dud man, either an imitation that just doesn't work or a legitimate SanDisk which is simply a dud. Exchange it and have your peace of mind, also test its read/write speeds and verify they match the typical Class 10 speeds, they should hover around ~10MB/s write, ~20MB/s read. If that isn't the case, it's fake; return it and buy it from a different vendor.

which sandisk breaks in note 2?

I bought a 64gig sandisk ultra uhs speed class 1 xc i or whatever.. i heard of some of these being corrupted by the note 2? is it this specific one?
So far it looks like only the 32gb Sandisk ultra u1 are affected.
I would skip SanDisk and get a Samsung as no one has posted any issues about them.

64gb seem to be the most popular, thus making it look like more complaints are being given. I just formatted my 64gb card to fat32 as the exfat file system seems to be problematic on our devices.

There was a problem with the chipset used, it has been rectified now.
So what is the real problem exactly? If it is the chip set problem, wouldn't those cards affected still be in circulation?
I'm contemplating getting one myself but I'm leaning towards Samsung ones as well just to be on the safe side.

Can you elaborate? Chips on the card or the phone? Was this fixed/will it be fixed? I'm having issues now and have just formatted my card to fat32 to see if that corrects the problem with random dismounting and denied access to the sd card.

If the card is manufactured on or after December 2012, then it will work perfectly fine. Check on the pack for that. Cheers!!
My Samsung 32GB has been rock solid. But I want to get 64GB and the Sammy card is 100-250 depending on where you go!

Maybe in the phone it might be slow but a micro SD card is not just meant for phone it can go into other things. When I use it in the PC through the adapter I get class 10 speeds if not faster.
Plus I'm not all about the fastest speed I'm more about reliability same thing when it comes to my SSD in my computer.

No joke. I have had 3 32gb class 10 microsd from Sandisk fail in under 1 year. 2 in my Note 2 & 1 just the other day in my Note 10.1 I think there is a known issue with Samsung Galaxy phones & Sandisk cards. Seems mainly like the 32gb ones, but 3 in under a year is seriously redonkulous. I actually had the csr admit there was an issue, & they issued an rma. Supposedly the newer batches of cards are fixed.
Running a 64gb Samsung class 10 & haven't had any problems in almost 6 months.
I guess I just have super magic lucky powers. Then again after getting an eBay dud I learned my lesson.
I think a lot of people buy cheap ebay crap and blame Sandisk.

Sounds like you were lucky enough to get 3 cards from the bad batch that was mentioned 2 or 3 years ago. I haven't read any legitimate articles on a specific incompatibility between Samsung and SanDisk, but rather SanDisk letting a bad batch get cut loose into the wild and now they're fighting mis-information years later.
Sorta like Hitachi fighting their infamous "DeathStar" hard drives or Toyota combating rumors that all of their cars have brake issues.
Sandisk 64gb micro sdcard class 10 I've had it for over a year now no issues at all.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda premium
I have 2 64gb sd cards. Both bought on ebay. One SanDisk and another a generic brand. Sad to say my generic brand lasted longer than my SanDisk and still running strong in my Note 2. Both were class 10. Generic one cost me $20 free shipping and SanDisk was $70.
Sent from my SPH-L900 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
I think the numerous reports of scandisc failures are enough to keep me away, as I haven't seen anything official about a "bad batch" a year ago. There seems to be a lot of speculation on the why, but one thing is clear they are failing all over the place. Best buy something else.

I had a few different micro cards but in my experience SanDisk hqs worked the best. Been having for several months a SanDisk 64gb class 10 and working great.before I had a Kingston 32gb and failed and before dad I had a 16gb SanDisk from the hd2 days and still have it working good. So I guess my best bet has been SanDisk.

I'm chiming in based on my first hand experience. For the record, I find Sandisk memory substandard. The company fails to stand by its product by deliberately being difficult. If you like playing russian roulette with your data, go ahead. Sooner or later your number will come up! To be fair, this can happen to any storage media manufacturer. But for some reason it seems to be more prevalent with sandik. I've read nothing but great reviews with Samsung memory but I guess that's to be expected.
Currently testing and using a class10 32GB microsd semi-no name brand "A-Data". So far, I'm impressed as one of the best value for the buck. I have a small batch of adata cards and when it passes all my durability tests I will deploy them throughout all my devices.

Not that much difference. Rev1 came in 8Gb & 16Gb sizes, Rev2 came in 16Gb & 32Gb sizes. I've also heard that Rev2 had a better memory controller to fix some of the memory lag issues in Rev1, but I have no proof of this.
So, if it's a 8Gb model, it's a Rev1, if it's a 32 GB model, it's Rev2. But 16Gb could be either. You would have to verify a purchase date of after Nov. 2012
