[Q] Samsung Apps + Sky Go/+ wont install - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Not sure if this is a known issue or not..
But got a Galaxy Note (Rooted, with Paranoid Android rom 2.50) and Im having problems installing some applications from the Marketplace, mostly Samsung Smart TV remote apps and the "Sky" range (Sky+ and Sky GO)
When I try to install them from my phone, the apps arnt listed and from the web-based market-place my phone is listed as Incompatible.
What gives?

You won't be able to load any samsung apps as they are Touchwizz dependant. Not sure about sky go, what dpi have you set?

Even the ones for interfacing with their SmartTV range? Weird!
I've a "Workspace" UI of 720px / System Apps at 360px / User apps at 360px

i dont think its the ROM,
i am on TWJB and still "Samsung Remote" says This app is incompatible with your Samsung GT-N7000.
although if i check the reviews for N7000, people seem to have installed it

Thats pretty dang weird..
I wonder if you could push the APK file down onto the phone would that work..
Whats the sort of "Policy" about handing around APK's for free applications?

Umm...I highly doubt it. It is just a launcher. If you want Samsung apps and a samsung UI why not get the Vibrant or SGS4g?

I have no clue what qwerty remocon is, but the Nexus S should have the same DLNA compatibility as any other SGS phone so its just a matter of finding an app or modifying AllShare to work on the SNS

That is most likely true and it sounds like you need a TouchWiz phone :/
I like this phone much better than my former vibrant. I only asked because those galaxy variants have some great features. None would be worth going back to touchwiz proper and rfs and lag fixes, etc. Still, getting some hacked touchwiz framework to allow the installation of those great codecs and some of the apps another poster listed would be the best of both worlds, especially since this phone has MOST of the same hardware.

Galaxy on Fire

Hi all,
I purchased GoF2 a while ago from the market, and since i've upgraded to the Tab, i'd love to be able to play it in all 7"s of glory. However, it isn't listed in the market on the device and the web market declares my Galaxy Tab as not compatible. Is there any way to make it compatible and if it is already, retrieve the APK from the market?
You can try downloading "Spare Parts" from the Android market to force apps to load full screen... Be warned though that not all apps scale properly... Tried it on diner dash and it did not scale that well, it was better to play it on original resolution even though it did not fit the whole screen...
Might work on yours though...
Hope this helps...
It does run on the galaxy tab.
Period.

For one, its a tegra 2 game, 2nd its for ginger bread, but there is a modified version floating around that was modded for snapdragon gpus, so if you're on 2.3 you could try that version in conjunction with chainfire3d.
Just upgrade Tab to Android 2.3 and use Chainfire3D with NVidia plugin.

It shows as purchased if uninstalled and if I click instal it gives error screen Instead of purchase screen

Titanium Backup has a feature called Market Doctor which removes and/or attaches market links, effectively showing them or not within the market. I'm not entirely sure, but I believe it's a Pro-only feature, so making a new account may be better for you.
That doesn't work on 4.0.... makes it worse for me :/

I've run into this also, yes I have used some pirated apps, but really it was such a hassel to find working updated sometimes 2 or 3 daily, I just said screw it I can spare 3$ for the app. I tried a whole bunch of tricks, hacks, whatever. the one that has worked for me, is re-install lets say, your stock rom (or a Stock rom).
boot up, setup your 'current' google account, go strait to the market (google play, whatever), disable auto update, ad mobs, ect. download/purchase the apps you want. From my experience, its better to do this quick. google market seems to take a while to realize your phone, is on a new rom. its sort of hit or miss.
When you go back to your ICS rom, well your purchased apps should be well "purchased" for real.
on another note, be careful of some roms using Legit software, not to name any names but a few have "copyrighted" software. So if you installed one of those, your loose your chance to buy it when you want to.
my 2 cents.
Regards,
I did it this way : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23569397&postcount=16
Have you tried simply using the web version on a desktop, or even from your phone's browser, then letting it get sent to your device when you sync? It may take a reboot or two, but this worked for me in the past. (Of course after uninstalling the app in question first.
I had this problem once when I tried to show my support for an app dev. I got a free version of Cut the Rope from GetJar and I wanted to convert to the Market version to support the dev. But Market on my phone kept on showing it as purchased, and wouldn't allow you to buy it anymore.
I uninstalled the app from my phone, backing up data with TI Backup. I then went to the web version of Android Market, and that thankfully showed that I had not purchased the Market version of the app.

slim ics? The most reliable ics rom imo ... its play markets detection of installed apps, I've been on 3 roms with this issue, if the other methods don't work I'll use an old market apk

After 2.3 update all kinds of app open....

Anyone else having similar problems with apps always opening. I'm constantly opening up app manager and closing music, Google plus, email, maps, message, etc.....I back out of everything so I know the apps are closed. It just seems as if every app I open its listed in the app manager as running even though I close them.

btw what's the average RAM u guys get? cuz the best I've got has been like 240mb of free RAM and I doing get why...
oh and I'm on a thrill P925
I've had the same problem. I ended up installing AutoKiller Memory and got the paid version. I selected the Extreme preset and applied all 10 tweaks. Now my phone runs a whole lot faster. I had trouble running my SPB Shell 3D launcher smoothly as well as games like Shadowgun until I did this. Now I appear to be having no more problems.
I'm assuming it's the memory management on 2.3.5.

It certainly is. Otherwise a utility like AutoKiller Memory would not have resolved my issues. I really had been frustrated for some time. Many don't like task killing apps like this, but if you want to run Gingerbread, SPB Shell 3D Launcher, and lots of apps including some demanding games like ShadowGun then it can make all of the difference.
Same problem on my end. I have loads of apps randomly active in memory. It wasn't like this before the update.
does this happens with v21D and other updates?

Rooting my gear tonight... Question

I was told if I root my gear I can use bluetooth tether and essentially run apps on my gear. The apps I'm looking to run are for my car alarm and ingress. So what I was wondering is what I was told true? And do I just have to root my gear or does my phone have to be rooted as well? Because right now I have the Note 3 completely stock and unrooted.

You dont need to root your gear in order to run custom apps, depending on what type of app it is tho they may or may not work..
I would read up on side loading applications first, test the waters out.. the apps you require may work straight out of the box by simply side loading them to your gear with out rooting.
Alternatively if you find the apps dont work, you can try loading my rom which includes a few library's, unlocked features & other various functions that some apps require in order to run correctly.
EDIT: Here is a simple guide on how to sideload applications: HERE

Awesome thank you! I'll have to read up on how you sideload apps. I saw a YouTube video where guy was actually playing ingress on his watch, what was on his phone screen transferred to watch screen same for his car alarm app, he just didn't say if it was rooted or not I just figured it was lol. Sorry had to edit my post. I do think you probably needs to be rooted to run something like ingress since it's an online game and the gear can't run anything online like a game or Facebook so I guess maybe that's why it has to be rooted and use a Bluetooth transfer lol I'm a very big newbie when it comes to the gear.

Bluetooth tethering is the easiest way. If you root your watch you can actually install play store and download as if it's a tablet tethered. Some apps may need to be wifi spoofed with is a xposed module included in null.
Keep in mind your phone needs to be running an international rom. I had to get rid of my T-Mobile rom for an international to enable Bluetooth tethering. Wasn't the watch holding me back, rather the phone itself
