Anyone else having similar problems with apps always opening. I'm constantly opening up app manager and closing music, Google plus, email, maps, message, etc.....I back out of everything so I know the apps are closed. It just seems as if every app I open its listed in the app manager as running even though I close them.

The same thing happens here! It doesn't matter if I force stop the app or use the application manager but apps will always start back up on their own after I stop them including apps that don't sync.

2.3.5 stock. They just open on their own.
It did it on V20C. I switched to V20P and it still does it.

im having the same problem here I updated to 2.3.5 with v20p and now it seems like every app is reopening by themselves and I'm constantly running the task manager.
btw what's the average RAM u guys get? cuz the best I've got has been like 240mb of free RAM and I doing get why...
oh and I'm on a thrill P925
I've had the same problem. I ended up installing AutoKiller Memory and got the paid version. I selected the Extreme preset and applied all 10 tweaks. Now my phone runs a whole lot faster. I had trouble running my SPB Shell 3D launcher smoothly as well as games like Shadowgun until I did this. Now I appear to be having no more problems.
I'm assuming it's the memory management on 2.3.5.

It certainly is. Otherwise a utility like AutoKiller Memory would not have resolved my issues. I really had been frustrated for some time. Many don't like task killing apps like this, but if you want to run Gingerbread, SPB Shell 3D Launcher, and lots of apps including some demanding games like ShadowGun then it can make all of the difference.
Same problem on my end. I have loads of apps randomly active in memory. It wasn't like this before the update.
does this happens with v21D and other updates?
cuz im with v20p but im thinking about switching to v21D

not bad, thanks for the up! I love the Add Location feature when posting a status - getting closer to "Places" every time there's a new app.......
Just tried it with JI6 Froyo and just Force Closes and won't run... Thanks for the file, if I end up going back to 2.1 I will use.
I also tried it with Froyo JI6. Doesn't work.
Is there any possible way you could get a 2.2 version of it? Everyone I know with a Captivate has already switched over too, so it would be awesome if we all could get it. Thank you!

And what version ROM are you running?
I hate the default Facebook app for this phone. Just wish I could filter my friends list.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
it prolly wont work with froyo since samsung hasnt released froyo for any of the galaxy s line, but im sure once they release froyo, theyll update the app
I installed and it looks great! My only gripe is that it takes forever to load any of the tabs. I imagine this is due to all the detail of the app (way more options than Facebook for Android). Other than that, I absolutely love it! I just want it to load faster... so I guess I wont be uninstalling the other one any time soon.. =^\
It doesn't recognize the Facebook Account in the Captivate on Froyo..
Samsung Apps is built into all the I9000 ROMS. Someone with the I9000 JPK Froyo build need to download the Facebook App from Samsung Apps and post it here. If nobody does it, I will upload the file the next time I flash my phone.

Hello,
after removing alot of bloatware from the phone (LG stuff and killing some more apps & widgets)
i get roughly 163M free (after whatsapp, email, adv. task killer )
i am running on stock ROM
what are the numbers that you are getting?
i saw several people with 230M and 200 as well.
how can i get more available memory besides freeze and un-install?
It really doesn't matter, if you need more than you have free, Android will free some up for you.
yeh but i want to understand how it actually works and to remove all the rest of the bloatware from the phone.
since i still think that there are alot of things that arent required for standard operation.
Linux based OS like Android usually keep a lot of apps in memory, and if necessary free the memory for other apps, so it 's not the real problem I think.
The real issue is that some apps runs in background and use radio connection to connect to servers, to verify updates etc, and that drains battery and take CPU time. For example if you have stock firmware, and have some apps installed by your phone provider, or so.
Alternative MODS are free from those bloatwares, and even in stock ROMS if you are rooted you can use Root App Remover to uninstall stock apps that are not necessary.
You can for example try some apps like GO Launcher or Titanium Back UP to freeze the desired apps and prevent them to run in background. Make some tests o see if there is a real difference, I think most of the time it's mainly a psychological issue ;-)
Thanks a lot for the detailed explanation i have removed most of the stock apps and installed adv task manager to kill the rest but still how come people here on the forums got 230mb memory when i can only reach 180-160?

Because they use other hacks aswell ( disabling the OTA feature, using some ram reserved for the GPU as memory, etc)

I've noticed this during general use on my phone. Normally when using Twitter or Facebook.
Quite often I will go to use the app and find i've been logged out. I'm guessing the OS killed the app to free up memory for something else.
What I get annoyed with is some apps that Autostart on Bootup when there's no obvious reason why they would need to. (BBC iPlayer etc) This Just takes up memory when it doesn't need to
I've never been logged out of Twitter and/or Facebook... closing the app wouldn't log you out anyway, that's something else altogether.
I got the same issue with skype although its not supposed to logout it does even though he runs in the background
Strange right ?

Catch is it is not available in the US or for wifi only devices. If you have a 3G 8.9 and not in the US. Check it out

not a lot of HD/tablet optimisation to speak of.
looks like the original app most of the time.
they could have done a far better job of it imho.
are there any forum app alternatives for tablets that actually make use of the screen space?

is there a way to get this to work on one of the ics roms?

Oh awesome, I was worried when moving from iPad to Galaxy Tab that there would be no Tapatalk HD, since all the other Android tablets I've seen running it are using a stretched out mobile version.

1) Shouldn't this thread be posted under Galaxy Tab 8.9 Themes and Apps?
2) Tapatalk HD is not compatible with ICS, but...
3) XDA Free is.

Get the free XDA app from Android Market. It's Tapatalk for XDA only and it works fine in ICS. There's a link in my previous post.

That's the question. I only know enough to copy the app from /system/apps and look for any associated files next to it in the list such as .odex. That didn't work for Swype and Polaris Office (pre-installed) or Tapatalk HD (downloaded with Samsung Apps). The last two are more important to me as I don't want to pay for them again. I can live with Android keyboard.
BTW, Swype installer will put Swype on the tablet, but I get constant dialogs telling me to contact Swype because it's not right for my screen resulotion.
If I can get them to work, I'd gladly spend some time testing the ICS ROMs out there.
Tks in advance.

Tks. I didn't think of that I'll give it a whirl.
i tried porting over the Tapatalk HD app that comes with samsungapps but was greeted with lots of FCs. i then tried the samsungapps so as to install Tapatalk natively on ics but it didn't even start.
honeycomb and ics are two different OS and i dont think its advised porting over apps. so far it never really worked out for me.
but go ahead and try it and let us know if it worked

I'd really be interested to know what apps you were able to migrate. I nandroided back to stock TW (is that a verb?) and installed Titanium Backup. What a headache! Then I backed up Swype, Tapatalk, Solaris Office and one user installed app (Logos). Back into Galaxian Soup ICS, only Logos worked. Swype crashed every 10 seconds until I uninstalled it. Solaris made it through the install wizard and crashed. Tapatalk showed promise after deleting all user data and cache and would actually show forums and threads, but crashed consistently whenever I tried loging in.

not a solution for your other problems but there is a swype beta that runs fine on ICS!
beta.swype.com
just register and get it! it has more features and works better than swype that comes with the tab!
Check out my earlier post. I tried that and got constant dialogues telling me that my version of Swype was not right for my screen resolution and to contact Swype to fix it even though it was a fresh download/install. I noticed that the OEM install has addition graphics beside the keyboard, apparently to solve that problem.
