I have experience with several mobile OS's.
I had an HTC Kaiser (WinMo device)
I later installed Android on that same Kaiser
I have an iPhone 4 (iOS)
and a Motorolla Xoom (Android ICS)
One of the most important factors that makes a huge difference in quality of life is how the OS handles audio when a call comes in. When my iPhone receives a call while I'm listening to music it pauses the music. When my call ends the music resumes.
This was not true of my Kaiser back in the WinMo days and it was a major detriment to the device.
More impressively, when I'm listening to an audio-book through the Audible app on my iPhone it handles it the same way, pausing at a call, resuming after.
My question is: How do these new W8P devices handle this situation? Is it at all graceful?
Thanks for your insight,
Jon
For incoming calls it behaves just like your iphone. I can't answer the audible question but I know apps can't pass marketplace certification if they interfere with audio on incoming calls. The app has to pause audio but the resume part I'm not sure about.

Thanks for that I just think this is a huge QoL issue that doesn't get enough attention.

I've seen an issue on my CloudMuzik app when I ported it to WP8. When a call comes in on the WP7 version, it will pause then resume when the call is finished. I am seeing different functionality on WP8. It just pauses and... that's it. It will restart the song when you press play again.

Please forgive me for posting this thread as I know it's redundant; however, I have searched the forums and have not seen any questions with the same ingredient as I am going to ask.
My biggest "grunt" about the Kaiser (and every other HTC phone for that matter) is that it is unable to record phone calls "internally" through the phone. I have searched and searched for this option and haven't come across anything that's decent. All applications that are out there record the call “externally” and have very poor recording capabilities. I am not interested in taking Notes; I am interested in recording conversations.
What has struck this conversation up again is a little program by the name of "BTAUDIO". This program allows you to listen to music and other forms of media through your BT headset. I haven't quite figured out how this would enable “internal” phone call recording, but it seems as though it pushes us a step closer to our success.
I would be interested in hearing from talented programmers who can possible use this to enable internal phone call recording.
One more thing... please hold back the "Law" aspect of this conversation, I know it and don't want to hear it. Nor do I want this thread to be about "The right thing to do".
Thanks for your input!
Yeah, I wondered about that too. Even if we can't record a conversation through the main phone speaker, could it be possible to record a conversation that is passing through to a wired or BT headset?
the answer to the questions: no, it's not possible to hack into the BT stream. The TekSoft guys have tried it hard - no success.
What I rercommend is, if having a separate phone & PDA isn't a prblem, is getting an additional HTC*s310 (oOxygen). It's able to record calls. Alternatively, if you have more money to burn, get the N95: then, you'll have the best of both (Symbian and WM) worlds.
I also recommend my related articles inj the Wiki - I've published a LOT of articles on the subject.
I am using resco audio recorder, too bad it only record my voice, not the other party.
So I really want to know is there any solution for the kaiser phone.
Thanks!
Get a Grandcentral account. It will enabled you to record any phone call you are having (both parties), by simply pressing 4 on the number pad. The recorded conversation is saved online and can be downloaded to your PC.
Edit: I also thought I would add this: When you record a conversation with grandcentral, it *will* notify the other party they are being recorded. Some states require by law that you notify the other party they are being recorded in a phone conversation. If you are looking for software that will record without notifying the other party, you may be breaking the law, depending on what state you live in (if you live in America, obviously).
How about PM recorder?
Hello,
Can i record Phone calls with kaiser without to use the speaker ?
thnx
vitto audio notes does this.. purchased the app and works great.
however, make sure you follow the rules with recording phone calls - think you have to let the other person know ahead of time.
tvos
bs...vito audio notes does not work.
actually, nothing will work with any windows mobile phone b/c the software does not allows the sound coming from teh earpiece to be recorded...google it....vito audio notes only records your outgoing voice unless you are on speakerphone.

no, it doesn't. Follow my related articles - I've explained several times the Tilt / Kaiser can NOT record phone calls either.

There are some (VERY FEW) WM models that do allow for recording: Oxygen / s310, Athena / x7500, some O2, Gigabyte and Asus models etc. See my articles for their list.
All progs can record... has nothing to do with the hardware... You need a Bat file in the reg to enable any recording software to split feed to recording core. It is illegal however to record someones conversation without their consent and there is no way to guaranty the consent, but to prevent software makers from enabling the incoming calls recording.
As we all know, as it stands you can record the callers voice however when the speaker is on.
A friend of mine created the bat file and he made a cab file for the Resco Recorder and the HTC Recorder, but will not release to public for legal reasons.

1. What is the problem to record someone that speak with you ?
you record yourself.
2. Can i record with my tilt if i will install your friends file ? (without speaker).
thnx
Unless it's changed recently due to the current legal/political climate, my understanding is that there are vastly different laws in different states. I was advised by an attorney that in the state I previously lived only one party of the conversation had to know about the recording. I believe its the same way here in Florida. Thus, you can't surreptitiously record others' calls (those that you aren't a party to). However, you can record your calls without telling the other party. A number of Nokia models (including one I've owned) allow for recording the the whole conversation. However, if I remember correctly, they beep quietly every five seconds during the recording process.

This is *NOT* illegal, if other party agreed for recording. It is very useful, when you are driving and someone non-technical person wants to give phone and address details.
Please ask your friend to release at least as shareware and we can explore it? He can always put Ts & Cs in case he still thinks it is illegal. My two cents.
Hi
Have been using Resco Audio recorder and Vito Audio Notes to record phone conversation but in both the softwares i could only here my voice clearly and the other persons voice is not audible at all. I have faced this problem on ALL HTC DEVICES but the same software worked amazing on XDA Xing and ATOM. cam someone help me here as to what settings to change or what software to use for proper recording.
Thanks
all of these programs will record if the phone is on speaker.
read the documentations, as some phone do not provide duplex conversations, or something like that.
once you set the call on speaker, all works fine, but it's kind of inconvenient.
yea if i remember correctly, it has something to do with the way that the voice calling was implemented in the device that it will only record your voice.
straight from resco.net from the audio recorder page:
(Both sides recording is hardware dependent. If your recording contains voice of one side only, it is not due to the program's failure.)
On my old PPC6700 mine worked fine with the call volume all the way high, The other person sounded a bit low, but if you want you can edit the call on a PC and make them louder. It all depends how often do you plan to record your convos.
I'm recording both sides without speaker or any other hazzle...
This is what I've done:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=485783
Do you really intend to unbury every 1+ year old topic on that subject? I think people got it by now. Make ONE thread with full relevant info, that will do it.
I have the Sony x1.
I always find myself wishing I had recorded calls.
Is there a way to have your phone automatically record all calls.
If it was just a stand alone program that needed to be activated each time I think would forget.
Try this:
http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-acr-auto-call-recorder.html
Same as above:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=536472
It only works one way though...
The X1 has call recording built-in through the Notes app (also accesible through the phone dialer. Once in the Notes app, go to Menu->Use Recording Toolbar. You can record the conversation while writing into the notes app. It's unfortunate SE didn't integrate this better into the dialer app.
You can record both sides of the conversation if you use speakerphone only. Using the handset, it will only record yourself and the other end will be inaudible. I believe this is some hard limitation in the design of the phone and not something that can be overcome by software.
EDIT: Ooops, I see you want calls recorded automatically...Notes doesn't do that
How do I access the feature through the phone dialer.
If you are using the built-in SE dialer, it is the icon that looks like a sticky note with a tack through it. Pressing that will load the Notes app with the number you are dialing already inserted. From there, just follow the instructions in my previous post.
I believe once a call is initiated, you can still run notes the traditional way (Start Menu->Notes) and achieve the same thing if you have a different dialer you are using.
This functionality with notes is cute, but it only record some 30 seconds. How can I change it. Through regedit or?
One more thing: The loudness of person that I called on recording is miserable... My voice is lot louder... how can I fix this?

As stated in my first post, you have to use speakerphone to get a usable record volume from the other caller. This is inherent in the X1 design.
I don't understand why some phones have this limitation and others don't. My old Moto v60 could record both ends of the phone call perfectly without any fuss.

Look at Resco Audio Recorder.
I have tried many programs and none work perfectly so here is what i did to get perfect results:
Plug your xperia into the "Line in" port on your computer using a male to male 3.5 mm audio cable - after that i used a program like Audacity to record the call.
It records your voice and the person you are speaking to with perfect results.
^^^ That's clever, but how do you fit your computer in your pocket?
Hi,
I have VW Passat with AA (MIB3 based system). Android Auto works in general, but there is a problem with applications like ReplaIO, Spotify and sometimes even TuneIn.
Those start to stream audio "into nowhere". The sound volume control does not work then either from the panel or from the steering wheel. What I do to enable sound?
I need to run ANY Google based app, like Youtube or Youtube Music/Google Play Music, then stop it and switch to another app. Then it plays correctly, with sound.
Anyone got same behaviour in the car? What is the reason? Any workaround? This is not happening when same phone plays via Bluetooth, there is always the sound.
Only via AA connection, there is a problem. Later, after my manual workaround as above, switching the sources (FM/DAB/BT/AA) works correctly.
But if I disconnect the USB cable and connect it again... no sound from AA
Please help.
As far as I know, this is an ongoing bug. To reenable audio when the bug occurs you can simply dial to some phone number (best and easiest is if you call a number with an automatic answering machine), wait for the answer and then disconnect the call. Immediately you will get the sound back. In my car, when it happens, there is no sound at all, in any app, the only way is dialing.

Similar problem: support.google.com/androidauto/thread/66269926?hl=en - add http
Well, for sure the problem exists, but it seems we need to live with that. No fix until now from Google. I wonder if this is related to Android 10, have anyone tried that with earlier versions?
In my case (just tested), the phone call does not fix that. The only way for me is to play some song from Youtube Music, pause that and switch to Spotify, for example. Then it plays normally.
I suspect this bug is related to sound focus/sound routing/mixer.
This bug is related to AA only and it is happening in Android 9 also, maybe not everyday, but from time to time. I have a Note 10+ with Android 9 and a Peugeot 3008. In my case, the trigger is, almost always, the lack of internet connection in my underground parking. If the phone is connected to my car's display through AA, and if I try to play internet music (spotify or other internet radio app) before I get out from the parking and before my phone gets connected to the internet, then the music app gets stucked and the sound from any app disappears. Only making a phone call and waiting for somebody to respond or restarting the phone does help.
