Hi I just got my nexus 7 today and it is amazing. I was wondering what apps everybody uses on this and if I could get any recommendations. All responses are welcome!

I use mine for work and play. So, I have things like ezpdf reader, documents to go, note everything, then all of the normal social apps, google+, twitter, Facebook. I also have kindle, the amazon app store.
The possibilities can be endless, just depending on what you want the device to do. I mostly read stuff on mine.

Im going to be giving a nook color to my son for his birthday and I was just wondering if anyone had any tips on which rom and programs to use.
Thanks for the help!
How old is he? My daughter is 8 and she runs circles around me. I am using the mirage cm7. Although miui is very simple and straight forward and it runs great on the nook.I hope I helped a little.

Good Idea! That sounds like something my son would do.
What about themes? I was thinking about using launcher pro to put a bunch of apps on a single home screen with a cool background.
So I'm curious what others have found to be the best office type app out there that works on the N7 here?
I bought Docs 2 Go back when it first came out and I was lucky enough to catch the Amazon FAOTD when they gave away pretty much every big office app; Docs2Go, QuickOffice Pro, QuickOffice Pro HD for Honeycomb (not sure this would even load), and OfficeSuite Professional 6.
They all seem to have good and bad, but I'm wondering if others out there have more experience, different opinions, etc.
Quick office
Quick office to not sound redundant

I have been VERY happy with Kingsoft Office.
It is in the Play Store for free. It integrates with Dropbox, box.net, and Google Drive. Nice, smooth UI. I've used it on several devices and like it more than the other options out there.

I like OfficeSuite Pro. It was the App of the Day with Amazon a few months back and does a good job. Otherwise I try to stick with Google Docs/Drive.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I went with Quickoffice Pro HD. Seems pretty good so far!
Actual QuickOffice Pro HD? I purchased it previously for another tab but it tells me now it is incompatible with the Nexus 7. What am I missing? Good Play Store shows regular QuickOffice Pro available but that is all.

Above post should say Google Play Store not Good! Auto correct can be a pain sometimes.

I got it as a FAOTD from Amazon and it actually says "QuickOffice Pro HD (for Honeycomb tablets)" and seems to work fine.
Best is onlive. Pay to get the free virtual machine setup with win7 and office. Use your tab just like it was running office 2010 native.

Good choice. That's exactly what I was going to suggest.

Had to go with Office Suite as Quick Office couldn't open my password protected Spreadsheet files.
Is there an office suit that has a 'dark mode' like the e-reader apps all do? -Ara

Morning everyone!
My now fiancé bought me a 7" tab2 for our anniversary and so far love it. Only thing I couldn't find info on was reviews on reading books/magazine on this tablet. Do you guys have any opinions on the reading magazines through kindle or google play?
Thanks in advance
Happy anniversary! I really like the Kindle app. I use it on all my devices for books and magazines. Easy to use and it is nice having everything sync and auto delivered.

I use Zinio to read magazines, sometimes you found good deals in subscriptions
Thank you for the respones guys!
I have Flipboard and Currents already on the tab since I loved them so much on my GNex. I also read my comics through comixology which is pretty good I'm just having difficulty setting up a year subscription for (The Walking Dead on there). I'll keep an eye on on the kindle app but I already see some mags. I want to subscribe to are either Fire or iOS only.

Hi,
I am curious as to which app is the best that is like Apple's FaceTime on Android?, also, is this app on iPad as my mum has an iPad 2 and I am buying 2 maybe 3 of the Ainol Novo 7 Fire's for family members for Christmas, and myself I have a Galaxy Note, would be good to know of an app that has video calling and IM built in, but at the same time is free (or a low cost) and displays your video in the corner as well as theres on full screen.
I am fairly new to all this Android stuff and am keen to learn about new apps and the such.
Thanks,
Martin

How about using Google Hangout.. a feature now included in Google Plus and also the Gtalk messenger if am not wrong.
Fring also works well
Cheers!
Skype also works, this is what I'm using mostly.
Problem with Skype is you cannot see yourself as well as the other person like you can in Face time, Google Talk and Tango.

So my plan is to immediately put the CM10.1 on this tablet.
I mainly watch movies, read books, browse the web, and play a few games. But not too many games.
Will this tablet give me great performance in general? Or is it going to be limited? What kind of snappiness do you guys have with yours?
For what you will be using for the tablet performance should be perfect with room to spare. The Nook HD+ is a pretty solid tablet, only problems I've encountered are some minor touch sensitivity issues and a little bit of lag here and there but with some tweaking and customization it works pretty well.
Had mine since Wednesday. Great for watching TV/movies (avi/mp4).
Good for reading the web.
Great for comics.
Not got around to reading via the Kindle app.
Plays music fine.
Really enjoying it, but just like previous poster some touch sensitivity issues.
Well, I guess I will just need to try it for a bit and see if I am happy with it.
Hey I noticed that with it stock there are "incompatible" apps from the play store. Fandango for instance. If I put CM on it, am I still limited or is the buildprop edited so we can actually download these apps

No, most that say incompatible will still be incompatible on CM10.1. Your option is to download on another device, transfer the apk to the HD+, enable unknown sources on CM10.1 and install them. They usually run.

Actually, I just did CM to mine. My benchmark before was around 9000, with CM it went to over 10000.
And I found that several 'incompatible' apps became compatible. MLB At Bat works (only for radio, TV can't find my location). Also, a widgets app, iheart radio, and a couple others suddenly became compatible as well. But as they say, your mileage may vary. Of all the apps I have, the only one that is still incompatible is the Nook app... go figure!
I can careless about the nook app. I honestly don't read much. I really bought this just because I got it so cheap

For reading of pdf books I suggest OrionReader, simple and smooth as hell.
For video MxPlayer could handle 720p animes on hd+
Really satisfied with the hd+, definitely a bargain to me
I am so glad you mentioned OrionReader. I use my Nook for reading music scores while playing piano and couldn't find an app that moved fast enough while turning the pages. Now I'm all set!

You're welcome Another good thing about it is you can customize behaviours for different tap zones, very convenient
