[Q] ROM Manager freezing - LG Optimus Black

This was my first rooting the phone.
I used the "HOW TO: Root LG Optimus Black P970 Running Gingerbread on Any Software Version" video from YouTube as a guide.
I did it succesfully and everything looked to be fine on P970 V20G.
Then I tried installing ROM Manager but the phone reboots everytime an app installs..
I figured out that I had to use a different Superuser installer(from official SU site) rather than the one given in the video.
I was now able to install apps and now that I could run ROM Manager, I loaded CM10 stable on my microSD card.
I tapped on "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" and selected LGE Optimus Black.
When the blue bar was full, the app froze and nothing happens.
I tried other apps that required root like Beats Audio Installer, it also froze.
Any known fix for this?

[Q] Galaxy S startuplogo sound but black screen

Hi,
I am using the XXJM1 Firmware (Flashed via KIES).
I have rooted the SGS with the one click tool.
I installed needed BusyBox Version 1.7x for the lag fix
I have "installed" the one click lag fix v2 (2-3).
- I missed to give root rights -> Script finished without doing anything (just pushed the files).
- I started the uninstall script and didn't miss to give root rights this time.
- Now I started the install script again and everything passed without problems.
I reinstalled my apps and restarted my sgs.
Now I just got the startup sound without a logo. I had a black screen until the PIN-Code Input window.
Q: Is it possible to get the logo back? Is that a problem in the future use? Did anything went wrong?
Regards
PhilAd
you mean the Animated logo boot screen?
you can install any Animated boot up screen
there is an App for that

[Q] Cannot install ClockworkMod Recovery, stuck reboot loop. Please Help

Hello
I recently got a LG Optimus 2x phone from Wind Mobile in Canada. I was successful in rooting the phone using Super One click and was able to install and run Titanium Backup, Busybox and a few other apps requiring root Access.
Following the numerous guides on the internet, I tried to install the ClockWorkMod Rom Manager (from the market), but when i click on the "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" and select my phone it will download across the top and give the error "an error occurred while attempting to run privileged commands". When i try to run anything else after I get a force stop error and eventually my phone will just restart on it's own and go into a Loop.
At this point i have to hold down the power and volume down key to boot into the recovery, but most if not all my apps are gone at this point.
I have tried to run the the "Fix Permissions" command from clockworksMOD but that does not work and the same errors happen.
A few extra notes:
I did it with and without an SD card installed
USB Debug mode and install from Unknown Sources are enabled
I do not turn on USB storage
I have tried unrooting and re-rooting and doing everything over but issue still persists
Problem summarized
-With USB debug and install from unknown sources enabled, rooted phone via Super One Click
-After reboot installed and tested several apps that require Root; Titanium Backup, SU, Reboot and system Utilities
-Installed ClockworkMod (Free) from the Market
-When trying to run "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" and select my phone it will download across the top and give the error "an error occurred while attempting to run privileged commands".
-Shortly after my phone will get stuck in a reboot loop, which i have to boot in recovery mode to get back in
-"Fix Permissions" does not help and goes back into reboot loop when done
What i want to do in the end is install Nandroid to backup my current Rom, then install some custom roms to see which best suits my taste. Any ideas how i can fix this issue i am having or any places that show how to fix it, i have checked for hours on end but can't find anything.
Thanks for the help in advance.
Did you make sure to clear the various chaches before flashing the new ROM?
Okay i found the problem.
Wind Mobile sells it as a LG Optimus 2X but it's a p999 meaning it's the T-Mobile LG Optimus G2x
Once i selected the G2X from the Clockwork Mod it worked. while the Optimus 2x was giving me the problems
This is big news as the phone was just released yesterday i can expect a lot of people in the next few days asking about Wind Mobile LG phones
Works with Mobilicity unlocked Version of same phone.
Thanks for the heads up Since both phones operate on AWS I'm sure there will be same issue with Mobilicity.
i have had the same problem
thanks for your guide.
Man... thank you! I thought I bricked my phone...
Dang, I should've read this first. Damn Wind for using Optimus 2X name
So I'm stuck on LG logo after installing ClockworkMod and selecting Optimus 2x. Did the hard reset with volume down key, but just stuck in "S/W Upgrade. Please wait while upgrading..." screen. Is it normal to be this long?
Can't access phone/recovery menu at all. I'm lost now. Should I attempt to restore the original wind ROM somehow?
Edit: Managed to run ClockworkMod Recovery by following this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056847
Will try again now using G2X :|
you should reflash the phone. it will stuck there forever if you did nothing with it. it's meant to be flashed with rom.
I had the same problem, just hold down the volume (down), power and home key. It'll factory reset ur phone..
Hey guys,
I bought a brand new Optimus 2X from Wind and I unlocked it to use with Mobilicity in Canada.
It was working great for the first day, but then when the battery died and I charged it, it just keep rebooting.
It turns on, but it won't load anything past the Wind mobile start up. It just keeps relooping.
Any suggestions?
try flashing or updating to the T-Mobile G2X rom with gingerbread 2.3.3 by following this:

[Q] ROM Manager - not able to flash to cm7

I am trying to upgrade my Windmobile LG Optimus 2x. So I rooted the phone. Then I used ROM Manager from ClockworkMod. I chose the option "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" and then I have a problem: the phone keeps rebooting, showing the LG logo. Eventually I removed the battery and tried turning on again and it booted. It went back to the way it was when I bought the phone. All applications were gone. I tried one more time and same thing happened.
Could someone tell what I might be doing wrong? Thanks.
Phone: P999
Current OS: 2.2.2 (Froyo)
File I saved on the sd card: update-cm-7.1.0-Optimus2X-signed
You have an Optimus G2x not a 2X.
Yes, your phone is a P999, so you can't use P990 (= real Optimus 2X) stuff.
See here to ask how to bring your phone back to normal:

It uses nvflash so should work anyway.

[Q] Custom rom went wrong (LG optimus 2x)

so i finally decided to root my lg optimus 2x, after a few tries, i finnaly did it. so after that i went to the google play store to download the app Rom Manager, after it finished installing, i went deeper into the app (Rom Manager), and found out that i could just download and install a custom rom directly from my phone, without any pc connectivity. so i choose one that was written stable on, after the custom rom was downloaded, i clicked on the icon in the notification tap to install. there were some preferences i could choose, so i decided not to backup the files from my build-in rom. after that, the phone rebooted and my phone was showing alot of text informations, and in the background of that the Rom Manager icon was showing. after the installation was done my phone got turned off. after that i decided to turn it on (obviously), and it just got stuck at the LG logo in the beginning.
so the question is, what do, i do now? i have tried everything.

you should look into more what you need to know, need to do before flashing a custom rom
well, you either try flashing a Stock rom via Smartflash and if that doesn't work, you'll have to use Nvflash, but don't worry, your phone is fine, there's nothing to be afraid about.
Next time you try a rom, you migh want to root the device, install cwm, then make a backup with the app Titanium Backup, after that, you go into the cwm, wipe as needend and install the rom. Do read the guides there are about flashing, because things like this could happen if you don't know what your doing.
If you have done a Backup of your Rom you just simply click restore in cwm and everything would get back to normal, but since you didn't, you have to use Smartflash.
But anyways, if I were you, instead of using Smartflash as my first choice, this is what i would do:
1.- Download a CM7 rom (or any other rom i like) for the O2X in its page with the gapps (google apps), if you like Stable versions, then go for it.
2.- I'd put that rom in a microsd card directly from my pc and then put that microSD card on the device.
3.- I'd go into cwm by doing this: While the phone is off, you click: Volume down + Power button at the same time and wait until the secong LG logo appears before releasing them.
4.- I'd do the firsts 2 wipes it shows there: Data wipe/factory reset (as I already have a Titanium backup) and Cache partition wipe
5.- Go into "Advanced" and wipe: Dalvik cache and Battery stats.
6.- Go back and choose: "Install zip from SD card" then "Choose zip from sd card"
7.- Locate the file and apply it
After that you'll see that "lots of text information" you saw the first time, that's fine, just wait a little, after it's done simply click "Reboot system now" and wait a little bit for the Rom to charge for its first time, if everything goes fine, you'll have CM7 installed and your phone will be functional again.
If you like the Rom, then look for tutorials so you can configure it the way you want and flash the gapps.
Hope this helps you
I think that the reason you got stuck in LG logo, was because you were installing a rom that doesn't automatically convert the EXT3 partition into EXT4 or something, or maybe what you installed wasn't a rom, i don't know, just be sure to check a little more in the future Good luck!
Note: not all roms require to flash gapps, only Cyanogenmods and some others.

[Q] DjangoManouche refuses to install, boot-loop, help fix please!

Hello.
A couple of weeks ago I rooted my phone using SuperOneClick. Then I had to travel to the military and I've been here since then, and just a few days ago I downloaded Clockwork ROM Manager thing from Google Play and flashed CWM Recovery to my phone. Then I downloaded DjangoManouche Guestekernel 1.7, rebooted to recovery, wiped data and cache, proceeded to install zip from sdcard. I got to the aroma installer, chose all my settings, but the aroma installer stops and goes back to CWM Recovery after like 30 seconds. The Aroma installer is in the meantime stuck at 0%, but it does show a lot of files at the bottom it is going through. It stops at a different file everytime, stopping for 2 seconds before it goes back to CWM Recovery.
Now it refuses to reboot. It displays the LG logo shortly, screen goes black, comes light back on the screen, then goes black again, then displays LG logo for a while. Then it does that same process again. How do I fix this?
I am headed out of this camp on Monday, and I would really, really appreciate it if someone could help me get my phone working before then. I don't wanna travel completely isolated from the world in case something was to happen.
Thanks a lot if you bother to answer - and please, don't just skip this thread! This is really, really important I get working. Never had problems with this before so thought it would work, but unfortunately it didn't. Bad timing of me, I know.
Appreciate it!
Tried 2 different ROMs, one the DjangoManouche SpicaOC as it does not use Aroma installer, as well as temasek unofficial CM7 Kang.
Both get same message.
"Installing update...
E: Error in /external_sd/InsertRomName.zip
(Status 0)
Installation aborted"
I googled this error and found I have wrong update binary. How do I change this? I want to try install CWM again but I can't do that as far as I know without USB debugging or booting into Android. What program can I use to fix this? Please guys, I really need your help...
Tried following an NVFlash tutorial I found for the Optimus 2X but not sure whether it was successful or not. I followed this guide: (I was unable to link it cause I dont have 10 posts, it's called NVFlash Setup Instructions + Drivers on Modaco.com)
When I then proceed to run the nvflash.exe I get a cmd window pop up with some text for a 1/100th of a second, rendering me unable to read it. Tried print screening it but with no luck. How do I get this to stay for a little longer? Is there any other way to fix this? And what would I do after I NVflashed my phone?

with the nvflash method.....read it carefully....u just need to double click on flash.bat file and not nvflash.exe file
Hope it helps/....if you need more help let me know mate
EDIT: I would suggest that you use the same method but use this file with the same procedures of nvflash method...this ROM is pre-rooted with CWM clean stock R with the latest Baseband and good features....you can also use a custom ROM after that....dont forget to complete the initial setup if you want to use it
HOMERO'S ROM all credits to Homero2
Thanks a lot for replying! I read a lot about how I should use the .bat file, but there was no .bat file accompanying my download of NVFlash. Using CMD and cd command I got to do that sync command. Now downloading that Homero ROM of yours, but not entirely sure how I flash that file onto my phone? I have no .bat file in my NVflash so where can I find one if I need to to flash that ROM? Does it come with the ROM download maybe?
And currently quite happy as it appears I will get my phone working before I go travelling. Then I can fix it properly with DjangoManouche when I arrive.
EDIT: With the CWM recovery I get from this flash, can I use that to install DjangoManouche guestekernel with aroma installer? From what I understood the version of cwm recovery I had was what screwed it up, so it may work now?
With Homero ROM you will also get ripped and with CWM.you can then make a factory reset and then flash DM ROM by carburano.I have been using that for more than one year....best stock based ROM till ics arrived....
Still waiting for his magic in ics
Hope it helps you
