Hi, some how, every JB ROM that i have tried seemed to be very slow and laggy.
At first, i thought that i was doing somthing wrong but it's not my first time with ROM flashing and i can't be wrong with every installation.
What JB ROM are you using, what modifications have you done with it, and most imprtant, is it fast and smooth?
My device gets along great. Im on X-Bean + Semaphore. On default its running smooth & fast & stable already. But I change settings: LiveOc 120, ondemand smooth ui on, no-op, big mem 404 MB, rasd 1024 and now its even smoother & faster.
I would say give it a try. I came fresh from stock JVT from there I flashed X-Bean 3.0. Had 2 do it twice.

You can try C-RoM Mix. Its very fast, smooth and stable. This is a feature-packed Rom based on CM10 and SlimRom sources.
No modifications needed because its already very fast. But the user can always do modifications on CPU speed and RAM if he wants to.

CM 10 latest nightly+ semaphore 2.6.0
Works awesome!
Running ParanoidAndroid 2.54 with Semaphore 2.5JB + PimpMyRom 2.12.
Can get a little laggy if f.e. unloading a heavy app from RAM (like 3d game, Chrome) but all in all smooth as butter.
X-Bean + Semaphore works best 4 me
Thank you for your help though few ROM's that were written here i have already tried and they were pretty laggy and slow.

Question [Q] The Current Fastest ROM For Galaxy S I9000, Juwe Vs Darky?
Hi guys, after buying the Galaxy S GT-I9000 I was soo pissed at the lag of the phone, after trying several combination of custom ROMS + lag fixes, kernels, stock roms etc.... I have found Juwe to be good, but haven't tried Darky's yet.
As of current I think so far Juwe's 5.0 is the best (now mind you I haven't tried Darky's 10.1 yet) and I'm scared to try any other rom since they take soo long to do a proper install (including the battery callibration charging it full, then letting it run down fully, installing all the apps etc...) which can be a headache.
I also found Juwe 5.1 to be a bit slow and sluggish, 5.0 was the way to go.
What do you guys think is faster, Juwe or Darky, or perhaps another ROM altogether, anyone used both of them and found one to be faster then the other (no lag downs - no choppy motion when switching homescreen etc..)?
I have tried both and have actually found that EXTRAordinary Rom with Galaxian Kernal to be lightening quick! Battery seems to last well too.
Roms i have tried are:
Juwe
Darky
Simply Honey
Galnet
Stock (obviously)
and now EXTRAordinary
I love Galnet MIUI, but it is non-stock, so it's prone to battery drain. It's hecka fast though. Though I never tried, CM7 is supposed to be fast. Last time I tried darky's, it wasn't even gingerbread, but it was definately decent back then. Probably faster now.
How do you go about installing the Extraordinary rom with galaxian kernel? Do you first flash stock rom with odin, then flash galaxian kernel with odin, then flash the extraordinary rom using CWM?
I've installed Extraordinary with galxyian kernal, the rom definitely feels spiffy and swift, slight lag here and there (but then again I haven't installed alot of apps yet, Juwe's felt spiffy at first too, although extraordinary has better swiftness when reading/writing to media SD card so far), but the screen vividness/brightness/intensity/colour looks awful, it seems like the resolution has been dumbed down to make the system act quicker.
Still in progress will try MUIU and the rest hopefully.
Pinpongs blockbuster rom is faster than juwe's, as is sams surface rom. Fact.
Haven't tried darky's.
blockbuster 2.4.5
Hi I've tried blockbuster as well, this ROM seems to be in par with Juwe 5.0, maybe slightly better but these two ROM seem very similar in performance (Juwe is a bit more choppy but faster in some ways).
I find Sams surface rom is the fastest. Lagfix optional. Stable and no bloatware. Plus excellent battery life.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
i've tried. juwe, gingerreal, MIUI, CM7, darky. The best for JVP (according to me) is Juwe smartv5.0. The best for JPQ (according to me) is darky with dark core v2.9.
Galaxian kernel has problem with the front camera, semarphore kernel has problem with internet browser. Juwe rom base on JVQ and Ginger real base on JVQ has problem with random reboot (according to my last used for those roms). MIUI and CM7 is the best rom for oc and the theme (using platypus kernel and vorbeth), but ver bad in abttery life.. So i'm back with darky JVQ..
T
Hi I've now tried several different Rome INCLUDING:
GINGERREAL latest
MIUI 2.3.4
Extraordinary 3.2
Juwe 5.0, 5.1
Blockbuster latest
Simply honey latesr
Cm7
Darky 10.1
So far miui seems to be the biggest difference in terms of looks compared to stock android (interface looks a lot like ios iPhone 4), when it comes to performance juwe 5.0 and extra ordinary rom seems to be the fastest juwe seems a bit more choppier though but slightly feels faster in many ways and has a more polished look.
At the present I've decided to stick with extraordinary since it seems to be the fastest overall.
The GPS in miui locked faster than the other roms. That's something interesting as the GPS is dismall.
Still not fully satisfied though as every rom seems to have slight lag and choppyness to it. I guess the only way to get over this is to get a better hardware phone such as sgs2. Though 1ghz and 512mb should be more than enough for a blazing phone with some app function. Im still hoping somebody still makes a fast rom out there for this phone. Miui and cm7 project looks promissing and hopefully I'm the future they'll come up with something faster.
Still any other rom's, other methods of installation (combo of kernel + rom) that you guys suggest?

Ive tried lots of them, have to say that EDB 1.3 with galaxian kernel is good all around.Very good battery life.
Forget all that is cm,darky etc..
How did you go about installing the ROM with galaxien kernel?, because EDB 1.3 Darky 2.8 Kernel
I tried edb and far estraordinary rom with galixien kernel is the fastest.

lets just say that im not that fond of darky thingys.
I have tried Tiramisu Evo 6.5 Juwe's Smart Edition 5.2 and EXTRAordinary JVQ 2.3.4
Currently sticking to EXTRAordinary with Galaxian 1.7 although GPS is useless....
Currently on Insanity ROM and it is very fast for me. I like the fact that he has stripped everything out of the ROM and you install what you like GApps, Google Maps, even the syncing is removed but obviously you need to install them to get syncing with google. Only been using it for a few weeks and so far very good. No lag for me.
Darky rom (JVP or JVQ) with dark core kernel is fastest
Try GingerCriskeloV77 mate, I hopped from one ROM to another and stopped at this one. This is based on semaphore kernal. Had bluetooth issue but resolved with new semaphore kernal 1.3.2 Cheers
Hi now I've tried Juwe Smart Ed 5.2, and its a real improvement from 5.1,I think it is the most polished and well round rom right now.
Running latest Juwe's (5.2) with latest release Galaxian EE 2.2, only drama I get sometimes is stock Gallery losing it's way to files, other than that, it's going well. I will say Juwe's has the best stock theme, the Ginger keyboard and stock dialer are the best out of any ROM I've had. I also agree with those in this thread, Darky seems to have lost his touch with Ginger...
i have tried many roms but i want the most FAST ans stable rom you know because

Try CM7.2 RC1 (24/04/12 version) by vo-1, it is the most stable ROM i know, then just remove what you don`t need with Titanium Backup and you have one of the most fast ROMs ever for Ace
I`m using it right now since 01/12
Fast and Stable ROM for you!
One of the best ROM's I found is called Zero Gravity Supernova RC1.
right here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1698306
Super stable, and fast, even with the animations enabled. There's plenty of RAM avalialbe in this ROM and RAM Manager Pro to keep it that way. Official Cyanogen Mod 7 ROM so it is super reliable. It's a barebone ROM and fast. I love this thing and have been using it for a good month and love it! I suggest going to the blog the developer has to get all the full version apps. XDA doesn't allow paid apps to be posted, but oh well.
blog here: http://ando-roid.blogspot.in/
Check this one out! It's worth it!

I'm following that project since it was started, and the newer updates were not fast and stable like the RC1, not on my device and under my use, to me the newer is not enough, I try to have the better
@OP
there is no "fastest rom, smoothest rom, etc etc etc"
in my opinion, fastest ROM is PLAIN CM 7.2 RC3 by vo-1 + Skynet28 OC kernel + Without ane script or modification.
but, it can be diiferent with your opinion.
here I'll give you some "nice ROM to try"
1. LeWa ROM
2. Plain CM 7.2 RC3 by vo-1
3. Stock Lite
try em, and see wich one that you like.
It depends on your needs...There is no best rom.

I am using CM 7.2 Miracle v4 by itasoulas. It is very stable and fast and has more free ram.
But new rom of itasoulas is released that name is Apocalypse.
I think itasoulas roms are good. Try one of this.:good:

Imo, you can "create" your own ROM straight from your device.
-DE-Odex /system/app
-Add build.prop tweaks and change the name of XXKPH or what ever you have to something like "Bob's ROM"
-Install CF-Root B83 (More stable than 84) Overclock if you wish.
-Install Adrenaline(TM) Engine 4.2, after you do the kernel or it will not work.
-Make sure APK's are Zipaligned, in Tweak manager you can do this in other tweaks
-Install Root Explorer from google play (or elsewhere...)
-Install a custom launcher (EG HoloLauncher TW4.5 Mod by Spacecaker (has a new name now i think) Put in /system/app and set permissions to RW- R-- R--
-Reboot
-Remove bloatware from /system/app, you can find a list of crap on Cyanogenmod Wiki
-You should now have a STABLE and FAST ROM
Hi!
I my option "StockLite" ist the best and most stable rom! Boots fast, saves Battery, no CrapWare, Patches for MMS/SMS and some Optis
Test it you will love it...In the middle of July 7.5 will be released A nice rom!
You could try gingerreal 2.0. The development for the rom stopped so there will be no more versions but it was a pretty good rom, fast and stable

Go for StockLite if u prefer a stock based custom ROM; If u want cm7, the cm7.1 by Grif_07 is actually a good balance between performance and battery life (the battery life is quite awesome when comparing to cm7.2)

I'm using CM7.2-RC3-APOCALYPSE [17.06.12] [FireKernel OC]. Very fast and smooth. With this one i dont have miss-typing bug. Battery life is rly good (50 sms, 10 call, wifi all the time, full brightness, music, games and another stuff and i charge battery only during the night). No had any reboots, lags, bugs. Even no have to use any scripts. I just love this ROM. Just try;]
There is no most fast and stable rom, every one has his own opinion.
Let's say i love stock roms and some1 loves cm7. my most fast and stable rom will be stock and for him cm7.
This ROM, the battery last for almost 48 Hours even if WiFi,Bluetooth and 3G is on. And it is so stable that it can run psp games using emulator almost lag free!!

Coming from CM7 - getting random freezes and reboots.
Would like the most stable rom and I am reading that CM9 stable release, slim ics, and ics333 are the ones most often mentioned.
Which is the most stable?
I could care less about the bells and whistles - just need a very stable rom.
ICS333 , its simple,fast, and mostly stable.
To avoid FC in yr apps, look at FA&Q you will find an instruction about getting so many FC , install the file ,flash the Rom and gapps ,enjoy

ICS333 and CM9 are very similar, I have been using CM9 for about half-year, ics333 only about one week, SlimICS for about a month, SlimICS was for me the best, cause its actually slim, fast, very stable...., all of these roms ive been using with semaphore. I would recommend u to give a try to all of them, then choose
I used CM9 Stable and now I'm on SlimICS 4.2. Both of these ROMs are stable and smooth. But in my opinion Slim is smoother than CM9.
since I'm coming from cm7, I think I'll try cm9 first.
Any recommended data fix scripts?
Hey guys,
currently running Jellybam 5.2.0 on my phone (JB 4.2.1), a great ROM, however I am not that content with the Kernel (which is CM kernel).
Games ran better and smoother on the stock ICS ROM with stock Kernel, also I got better scores on Quadrant.
Can you guys recommend an alternative Kernel that I can use with this ROM? Already tried HydracoreNirvana n6 and it got stuck at boot screen.
Thanks in advance

Totally agree, the current jb roms work great and are highly configurable.Last Tsumami 4.5.Saludos.

Yep, if u go to any AOSP JB ROM you'd be surprised how your SGS can work smootly, stable and fast.
