[SOLVED] Kernel recommendation for Jellybam ROM (CM10.1) - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
currently running Jellybam 5.2.0 on my phone (JB 4.2.1), a great ROM, however I am not that content with the Kernel (which is CM kernel).
Games ran better and smoother on the stock ICS ROM with stock Kernel, also I got better scores on Quadrant.
Can you guys recommend an alternative Kernel that I can use with this ROM? Already tried HydracoreNirvana n6 and it got stuck at boot screen.
Thanks in advance
sweetsour

Guys I need some help...also very sorry if this is a nooby question...

Performance of stock kernels will be better than normal cm kernel.
Try rhythm kernel, you can overclock it...

[Q] CheckRom V6 & What kernel?

Guys what it the best kernel for checkrom V6?
I mean.. i want advices BUT why did you made such a choice?
For me it is Franco hands down. Tested v2, v6 and the latest 'test' one (this will become v10 tomorrow or the day after, judging by the users' comments), and all proved to be smooth, fast, stable and easy on the battery on my Note.
I would second Franco kernel also. Been using it since v6 had no problems with lag at all. Battery life with this combination seems good as well.
Now this is a good start
I have been in CF ROOT for XXLC1 but i dunno why i feel the stock kernel is a little bit lagged in menus!
Will try Franco Kernel
Thanks for your replys!

Franco 9.....pure awesomeness !! Best battery backup m getting by using it. Earlier tried Abyss 4.2 but got a high battery drain !
Go for Franco !!!
but doesn't changing the kernel change some supported features in the rom ? like ntfs support for instance ?

Check the changelogs of the kernel you are about to use it will give you all the salient features and changes that it has and can happen!
Cheers!
Hey guys,
Don't wanna seem like jacking the thread, but is it possible to install Vertamus's ICS theme in V6?

Yeah of course! I have it installed on my phone. just go to the inbuilt kitchen (update it to the latest version from google play store) and download the file given there under the themes section. Its version1.1 as of now. And install it in recovery !!
Cheers! Hit thanks if it helped!
I was using stock CF-Root and it was fine, but the battery drain was a bit higher vs V5 CheckROM. Installed Franco and its running great, 1.5% Per Hour idle.
was using checkrom v6 with Franco's test kernel. Seems like its draining battery more than stock. Gonna verify it over the nxt few days by using stock
Also on Franco test kernel.
Also on franco kernel v9, works like a charm. Good battery life but no as good as CheckROM v5 & franco v6
For me Franco kernel cause constant sods.
I keep trying a newer versions and still same issue. This problem doesn't occur for me on other kernels

Yeah for some of the users Franco gives sods or screen salad issue - pixelated screen while other kernels work fine for them! Thankfully works fine for me

What ICS-Rom is good for daily use

Hey guys,
I'm reading a lot of posts regarding ICS-Roms and I'm confused:
Which one should I flash onto my SGS if I want the most stable experience?
Thanks for your kind help
DK3 + Devil2 0.67 kernel
I use DarkKnight 3 (not 4 which is buggy) with Devil2 0.67 kernel and all works just great! Form me its perfect for daily use in terms of stability and usability. No issues at all. But you may want to try yourself which rom works best for you...
try AOKP B32 with semaphore kernel...
its a gr8 rom... not found any bugs so far
infinitum
I just started using infinitum and very happy with it.
Installation of the roms is quite simple and straightforward so you could easily try a bunch out and make your own mind.
Slim ICS, Elite,Doc's
Cm9 nightly

Been trying to decide between CM9 nightly and SLIM ICS.
Right now I feel Slim a litle faster and lighter (with semaphore BM kernel is really great).
Remix all the Way
This is the best ROM I have ever tested

My Hat goes off
only niggle I have is the boot animation strobe - a little too aggressive
I am on CM9 latest build and have no problems so far. I was on Darky rom before with lagfix enabled.

+1 The Infinitum v2 currently based on B31 is really great and keeps the battery happy. (With semaphore 1.0.0s) Check it out, some claim it the best ICS AOKP rom out.
I have to say from my experience one cosmics ICSSGS RC 4.1 or 4.2 is perfect. I have had very few problems and it proper stock Ics which I love, I find all the added extras just make problems.

Iv been on and off teamhacksung's cm9 since build 9 and since build 14 iv been using it as a daily. iv got absolutly no complaints it is a great rom and now with the nightlys it is getting better and better. Im a big follower in the cm series but best thing to do us read some of the development forums and see wich tickles your fancy

I'm currently on ICSSGS 4.2 with Semaphore 0.9.7. I do work, play games, text, chat, etc..
Only grief I have with my phone right now is the GPS is borked. In some apps.
Can't wait for RC5 though. It's supposed to just rock!
Easy.
Latest CM9 Nightly. So damn good. Fast as a running cat! GPS works just fine, wifi works fine.
I'm also using Infinitys blue theme over that so it's pretty awsome!
Slim ICS is the best one I ever tried. Strongly recommend mate.

agreed...though i use 0.67b
CM9 nightly 14.04 with devil 0.67 is the best for me.
I think Slim ICS 3.3 with 0.67 devil kernel

[Q] What Kernel are you using with what Rom and why?

As the title suggests I would like to know what kernel people are using with what Rom and why.
Do you use the same Kernel with every Rom you flash?

Well im on stock 2.2.1 froyo with CF-ROOT kernel. got this phone as present lats week. haven`t flash it yet xD but ,as anyone here, i just love flashing
I am using cm9 nightlies - based on 4.0.4 because of its stability, good battery life and performance, settings + twics - tw launcher, weather widget and some other things from sgs3, atm with devil3 .79 kernel, with stock ram (378mb, if needed, i can increase it up to 403mb), stable oc up to 1400mhz (with semaphore 1140max., 1200 -> bootloop), also gpu is oc-able ... but if u dont want to oc, semaphore kernel is better for u
I'm reinstalling right now the miui speed ics by lucainno, with devil3 kernel. I really love this rom expecially for the layout, which is different from any other rom! The speed is great and battery life as well. And the kernel is simply... awesome! For its customization
Hi, I'm using ics 4.0.4 cna by franzy with the midnight kernel. I had the devil before but i got a bootloop. With the last midnight the phone is smooth, no lags, good battery life, no bugs until now !
Saurom jw5 + semaphore + ext4 works for me.. very smooth ops. Sticking to 2.3.6 for the fm radio
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA
I'm running the CM9 nightlies as well, with a Semaphore kernel. Very stable and good batteri life, although I'm thinking about comparing with a devil3 kernel. Right now, with the battery life I'm having the most important thing for me is the stability, though.

[Q&A] Speed up my SGS

Hey there,
I currently have my SGS running the latest official Baked 8 ROM 4.2.2 and its amazing! It's definitely my new ROM brand of choice (came from CM) Anywho lately my phone has started to lag up. The keypad needs a 0.5 second breather and things take longer to load like the lock and home screen and I was just wanting to know how I could make it faster. Would a custom kernel help?
Thanks in advance.

I recommend you to install SuperNexus2 or SlimBean ROM.
SuperNexus2 is super fast and it has Aways kernel which can be overclocked to 1.2 Mhz.
SlimBean is also great and it has semaphore kernel.
Also try build.prop tweaks :good:
Advanced task manager ..kill those pesky apps when screens off

You can try Greenify app to hibernate few applications you do not use. It'll be activated when you launch them. This saves some ram. Also use some build.prop tweaks, and some system performance tweaks

Recommend me a rom

Hello, i'm currently in need of speed for my old "warhorse" S
So let's begin. The reasons why i'm needing new rom and stuff are those that my phone is lagging all the time no matter which rom i'm using and so on.
For now, im looking for baserom that is possible to flash with odin, good kernel, and rom that has speed and stability. And yeah, it won't matter if the rom is Gingerbread or ICS or JB, i prefer JB but now im looking for speed so i guess JB won't be fastest.
At the moment im running with RemICS JB v6 with Mackay kernel.
Happy weekend for everybody!
Maybe CM10.1
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda app-developers app
I would recommend slimbean 4.2.2 build 8 with devil kernel for 4.2 builds (not the latest for 4.3).
And with a lil bit of customization and greenify, it's awesome!!!
I recommend SauROM, my previous JB rom f**ed up so I had to Odin my phone.
I must say that it is faster than any JB rom and has a good camera, fast launcher and is stable.

if you want to play games use gamerzrom ninja v11 (GB) or try using the gamerzrom legend edition v4 but GB version is best for anything

Be warned that installing any 4.1+ ROM will make your phone unable to multitask as there is not sufficient ram. However, you do get enhanced speed and responsiveness, plus more customization options.

CM10.1.3 and devil kernel
Use gamerzrom Legend edition or Mackey Rom 4.2.2 for smoothness and stablity. If you want feature rich ROM then use Roms by Aways or try DU ROM
