I was looking for reviews or suggestions for a FTP Client for my WP8 Nokia Lumia 920 Phone.
Currently there are only 3 FTP clients on the App Store. Yesterday had 2 Apps...
Has anyone used FTP On The Go? It's listed for $4.99 and has the highest star rating so far, but only 15 people have tried it.
I'm not really a fan of this new Cloud service and would rather rely on my own Domain and FTP access.
In the same boat too. I really rely on FTP access for my job along with RDP. Two areas that the app environment is really weak on.
No suggestions other than to say I'm in the same boat.

We are thinking about getting a Xoom at the office but were curious if the honeycomb mail client can support client certificates. Can anyone confirm or deny this. I know that previous versions could not and so far secure eas is the only way we can use them other than with Touchdown.
Thanks
I have to use touchdown with mine, google sucks at the enterprise client

Exchange SSL is a server side certificate that validates the identity of the server. Client side certificates validate the identity of the client TO the server. They are different animals, this was explained to me in the MOTO forums and there is in fact like half a dozen people working on this very issue.
The short term solution is 3rd party as already mentioned.
Moto is working that or google is?

People at MOTO are working with at least one particular user in their forums.
this is a huge thorn in our side as a secure corporation
I tried the app secure eas (which works great on froyo on the incredible) but it is soooo unstable. I know that we can use touchdown, but i wish we had a free version. Just sounds as though the client certs are not even thought about... kinda rediculous.

Well if the company is that hardcore about security they can probably kick in 15 bucks for the e-mail app. That's my initial knee-jerk reaction to such a statement. To my knowledge, the MOTO team has gotten nowhere on this FWIW and the issue I'm sure goes back to the default mail client just not being up to par for it.
To be perfectly honest, it's not all that suprising to me.

Well it is a combination of two things...
1 - the company wants to be secure and because of it (like many other companies) is all Blackberry at this time.
2 - I cant stand freaking bberry devices so I am trying to get the devices to connect to exchange and in a way we can control and monitor.
With that said, how the hell can the iphone support client certs and android cant? Especially when there are like 10 mail apps out there... the only one that does... oh of course... the one you have to pay for.
I am not saying paying is out of the question, but it sure would be nice to tout that free price tag.

Well it's a misconception that any ipad app worth a **** is free, they're not... I own one.
There's also no "free" anything going on here... you bought an $800 Xoom to get around using your companies crappy blackberrys and I would do the same lol. for less than 5% of the total purchase you can complete the experience. Just do it and get it over with lol.
BTW here is the MOTO thread on this issue:
https://supportforums.motorola.com/thread/46230?tstart=60
I am a network administrator for a IT company and am looking for a good RDP client for my Xoom. I am trying to use both 2X which is a free RDP client and the free version of Wyse Pocketcloud. I dont mind paying for a good RDP client but I dont want to pay for something and then find out that its not for me.
I mostly use RDP to remote into our servers but occasionally the thought has came across my mind on how cool it would be to also be able to run use the Citrix Xenserver and our VMware View clients from the tablet.
I have been reluctant to dive into a decent RDP client because of the Xooms server certificate problems.
I would love to be able to Manage our VM's from the xoom but VMware hasnt came out with a app for android yet. Kinda a bummer... The Ipad app for managing vm's is awesome. Just wish companies would support android more.
Now that I am done with that small rant. What are yours guy's thoughts?
Team Viewer is a good solution for me. I prefer it above LogMeIn Ignition. You can actually control the mouse function instead of having a stationary mouse and you just move the screen into position to get in place to click the mouse.
Wyse is amazing and simple on the xoom ... worked well on nexus one and atrix as well.

has anyone here tried 2x? I guess what I liked about them is that it automaticly adjusts the resolution to the xoom.
I know you can change the resolution on wyse but anything more than 800x600 you end up having to scroll around. Even on the xoom.
I use pocket cloud and LOVE it works great
Pocketcloud is the way to go. Great thing is, it does vmware view and vnc as well.

I have to guess that you are using the free version because the paid app is more flexible and I get full screen.
I use pocketcloud for remote access. We also purchased a site license for vnc which isn't cheap and I use vnc to control any of the 172 computers throughout my sites. I remember the days of idokorro and still use it to manage my servers can manipulate active directory and god knows how many other options from my xoom. Reminds me of NCIS Los Angeles when the guy carries around the tablet to retrieve information. Wish my company would have bought it for me though.

Anyone got or been using an app for Win Server 2008 R2 and Hyper V Server sp1?
Looking for control and full function on vm server's (SQL and exchange 2010) as well as VDI's. Thoughts and personnal recommendations greatly received.

I have been using Real VNC on my xoom to connect to our 2008 R2 server and exchange 2010. Works great, offers full control, much better than Windows RDP, Not sure about your hyper V, but logically i cannot see why that would not work either. From memory vnc port is 5900.
Also works great on my HTC Sensation. (albeit a tad small screen, but helpful when i need to fix something at a pinch when no xoom available)
Try this http://www.realvnc.com/index.html
Thanks I'll give it a look over.

Because you have to install a 3rd party application/service on a production server which won't be updated by your WSUS server automatically.
As for Hyper-V clients (or ESX/vSphere clients), I've not found any for Android yet, but XtraLogics RDP client works well on my Xoom. The only issue I have is that the VPN client on the Xoom refuses to work with the aging Cisco VPN Concentrators we have, so I can't use the Xoom for any work stuff.

The person I was replying to was saying that vnc was better, not rdp. I was asking why.
My opinion was the same as yours. I wouldn't install vnc on a production server, plus the performance of rdp is better

Perhaps i shall rephrase it.. for ME, vnc is much much better, Why?, I can make as many vnc connections (within reason) as i like without the need to purchase extra microsoft licences. Already a plus in my book, saving cash.
As for the performance of RDP being better than VNC, I guess that boils down to personal choice also. Different strokes for different folks. Not saying my views are right, I am just saying they are not wrong.
i see everyone using some type of file server account. then getting your accounts suspended from too many transfers.
why don't you all create your own ftp websights and have your own servers.???????
what would be the drawbacks.
i used to have an old pc i would use for transfering funny shows from my tivo to my dad who lives 1700 miles away.
i used dyndns.com. it's free. to direct his traffic to my pc. and had a free ftp program installed on the pc.
basically i had my own ftp web address that he could tie into my pc with.
i had a folder on the pc. that allowed access. so he could see any file that was in that folder only. not the rest of the pc. but it was a dedicated pc for his use only. so i coould leave it on. and let him access and trasnfer at his discretion.
in other words. i had my own ftp websight set up on a seconday pc specifically for that purpose.
development section
This has NOTHING to do with development.... reported!
Moved to the more appropriate Q and A
I would reckon many don't want to open themselves up for potential attacks and/or potential slowdowns. Me personally would have no problem with it but I wouldn't be using FTP.
EDIT:
Now that I think about it I probably wouldn't as the significantly increased traffic to my IP would raise an eyebrow or two at Verizon. Running services violates my TOS with them. Shame as I have a decent fiber connection.
Because it ha nothing to do with servers and everything to do with bandwidth, which is still a concern if you host your own server. Although some of these links get hammered (ask Samurai about that lol), and would require good hardware (read: expensive) to properly host as well. Besides, most can barely read forums and handle their phone hardware. Setting up a raid 10 NAS with iSCSI and load balancing servers is beyond the grasp of most...

if you have cable. speed shouldn't be much of an issue these days. the roms aren't that big. so users could download pretty quickly.
FTP is wayyyyyyyyyy faster then https.
https has a max of 50kbps.
ftp also has a setting that one can choose for max uploads. which would suck if the entire world was trying to download at the same time.
the cheapest computer you could possibly find. is sufficient. no need for a raid and all that stuff.
it's a dedicated machine for your needs. get a virus. 10 minutes is all it takes to format and re setup. your own computer is never touched.
only problem i see as one post indicated would be the amount of uploads. and TOS if that applies.
i never got hammered and neither did my dad. when we transfered as high as 50 gigs per month on movies. i had qwest and he had ATT dsl
in all reality. really not much difference then the old days of using kazaa and napster. cept your providing your own server.
I need suggestion, I want the best VPN for my Samsung mobile
I have seen the cheapest deal of FastestVPN, they are offering 92% discount on 5 Year plan cost just $49.95 further they have also 10% extra discount coupon "FAST10"
I really got amazed with this deal as no other VPN provider is offering such awesome deal
I just want to know that have any one here tried this VPN?
Here is the deal link: blog.fastestvpn.com/black-friday-vpn-deals
I use ip vanish, from the following they have also for pc and android app. Been good to me for over a year. Just my opinion

nordvpn and pia
stop using free vpn noobs
I would suggest ProtonVPN. Been using it for over two years. Had Pia and NordVPN before but they heavily rely on ads and sponsored reviews. Not bad companies but I just prefer to know where my vpn servers are located. Proton also has a secure core feature where they route your traffic through two countries.
Out of all the VPNs I've tried EspressVPN has the best speed for me. It's the most expensive out of all of them, but it's worth it for me since it's almost always connected, to a USA server and I'm in Romania, I've never seen content buffer, in Youtube or Netflix.

I use Express as well just because it has an app for the TV.
I've been using ExpressVPN for about 2.5 years now. They are pricy but I love their apps and the fact that at home I set up my home router with their services so anyone on my network is hidden/secure.

i use their Services aswell, never got any problems
FastestVPN I'm having loads of problems with both on WiFi and mobile data, not working with all providers
I use ufo vpn , quick and works on streaming services where noordvpn fails , plus you get a free service and chances to get premium for free
My vote is expressvpn service this is one of the best vpn For Android also other vpns are best like pure, nord, surfshark, ipvanish but i am always using ExpressVPN many good sources available to get the best VPN for android Like Pcmag.com , Cnet.com and Rivipedia.com are the best soruces to share the list of best providers
I also use Express vpn keep using the 7 day trial
Put any email address in they dont ask for clarification just let you get using asap which is a flaw in there system..
