Can you give us an overview of what you did with your kernel? I.e. What functions have you put in and/or what you took out of it?.
Like oc, uv/ov, and this like that.
Would greatly appreciate it.
Did I help? Then please don't forget to press the thanks button.

I did, its in the features, I took nothing out, and only put in root and recovery. Also, I changed the bootsplashsceen, (But it doesnt look good at the moment and i am working on making that better)
I will start loking at OC/UV/governers/IO schedulers etc in the future...this is a learning curve for me as well.

My bad, didn't realize that was what you did. Anyway i look forward to any future work you may deliver.
And it's not bad that you're learning, hell I was thinking of trying to do that too but haven't had the chance yet.

In this case rooted means unlocked bootloader.
If your phone has locked bootloader you CANNOT flash custom kernels.
If you want custom kernels then unlock your bootloader.
If you want a locked bootloader and root then follow the guide for rooting locked bootloaders in the all in one thread from my signature

My phone has had an unlocked bootlader. I wanted back to an locked bootloader und your posting does not says anything about unlockig the bootloader.
If you would have pointed out this I never would have tried out you kernel, because my phone has had 3.195 with root and kernelV4
Thanks for nothing, you don't help with half of the important information they are indispensable for using your kernel.

Kernels
WTF is a kernel?
The kernel is the communication bridge between software and hardware, is the most important part of any OS.
All OS have a kernel, even windows and iOS but since android its based on linux the kernel must be a GPL. So manufacturer must be public the source code of the kernel and third party devs can compile and modify it.
Now since SE decided to open the bootloader of certain devices (and the_laser find the way to do it to the rest ) we can use those nice kernels we are talking about. And this is how to do it.
You will need:
•Unlocked Bootloader
•This fastboot pack
• A custom kernel (.img)

@op, instructions are clear, concise and I thank you for your ongoing work to support T users.

As i said, its failing because it needs an unlocked bootloader. The error message that says
Code:
Your device needs to be rooted
refers to the fact that your bootloader is locked, not the fact that your phone is rooted via bin4ry's method. Its a fastbootroot error (So means bootloder root status)
Anyway, you are completely entitled your opinion about me, I am only here to try and help, but if my instructions appear to be confusing I would appreciate some constructive feedback, not flaming or name calling.

I haven't react polite to your message and I pointed out why.
If you thing that MODs are necessary it's your choise.
By the way, after calm down I flashed a 3.195 again, relocked the bootloader again and flashed your V1 kernel, after that I found your V2 and flashed that kernel.

Full rooting guide for xperia t lt30p build 7.0.A.3.195

After having many problems rooting my xperia t james bond phone, I decided making a noob-ready tutorial on how to root the xperia t and probably other phones aswell.
No technical stuff, just follow the steps and you will be rooted in no time.
I did this with:
android version 4.0.4
build 7.0.A.3.195
So the very first thing you should do is unlocking your bootloader. Sony has made their own tutorial on how to do this, but It can be a little complicated. Im gonna link you to it and to a videp which explains it very well. I prefer the video myself.
http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/ and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0e1DYnoxUm0
After that you will need to unlock recovery mode. You can do this in 2 ways but I prefer the easy one.
The easy one is:
Installing a custom kernel with recovery mode integrated in it.
Use this link to download the kernel or go to the forum thread where I found it:
http://www.mediafire.com/?n4v89r2fvri2wlb
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1922925
Now that you've got the kernel with recovery mode integrated downloaded, we need to flash/install it into the phone.
You need to do this via flashtool. That's atleast the easiest I think.
You can download flashtool from the following website:
http://androxyde.github.com/
Install it. If you have problems installing the drivers for flashtool, you can use this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nOC57DfI1zo
Now you need to make sure your phone is on and connected to your pc.
Open flashtool and click on the thunderbolt in the upper left corner.
Select fastboot mode.
Now select "Reboot into fastboot mode (via ADB)"
Wait for it to reboot. There should be a blue light turned on, on your phone.
Now look at your pc screen again. Click on "Select Kernel To Flash"
Select the kernel that I Gave you in the beginning of the tutorial.
Wait for it to install and your mobile probably reboot etc. untill it is on.
Now download Superuser zip file : https://rapidshare.com/#!download|939p5|3415386268|Superuser-3.1.3-arm-signed.zip|1324|0|0
Place the Superuser zip file on your mobile phone memory card or internal memory.
Now Turn off your phone completely.
Now we are gonna go into recovery mode to install Superuser.
There are several ways to do this but the one I use is holding both the volume buttons down and then holding the power button aswell.
(I did this when my phone was connected from my pc) or you use this video (skip to 3:31)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2fMk0PhA_qc
It should boot into recovery mode. You can use the volume buttons to go up and down and the power button to select. Browse to the sdcard for the superuser.zip file and install it. (the most easy part).
Now go back to the start screen of recovery mode and select reboot into system.
Done, you have now got a fully rooted xperia T lt30p
Please tell me if I missed something. My first post ever lol
This post helped me alot:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1903137
Many thanks for your input here, but it is just a replication of the all in one thread instructions.
Also, to enter recovery mode you just need to press the volume up button when the purple led appears at boot up, you dont need to press all 3 buttons.
Also, you can download the SuperSU.apk directly from the market instead of flashing it in recovery.
Never the less, this is quite comprehensive and i have linked it to the all in one thread.

Yea, I know it's just recycled stuff but it is just for a nooby that doesen't know how to do stuff. I had like 10 tabs opened trying to root my xperia t.

If your bootloader is locked, to root, just use this, tested and working with a LOCKED bootloader on the Xperia T firmware 7.0.A.1.303 :

Update via SUES or PCCompanion if your firmware has the official update. If not you can still upgrade via flashtool, just read the all in one thread. All information is there.
However, if you update the only way to root is unlock your bootloader.

[Q Help] Flash ROM's on Z1?

Hey to all XDA Users, I hope you are in good spirit today!
I am back again!
When I was flashing my HTC HD2 everyday I was close to a Professor now I upgraded to Xperia Z1 and I am stupid again as F...!
The Z1 I think is an awesome device but I am really disappointed for many reasons.
I can't select Governors and Frequences for low consumption of energy.
I can't put data folders on External microSD and use the internal Storage for Apps ONLY. (I am already out of storage).
I can't use many app because the OS is not rooted.
I don't have many Option in Settings to improve the Phone.
It's slow.
Drain Battery.
...ecx....
So like any Android Phone the best way to make it fly is to flash some good ROM.
How?
I was reading in the forum about some tricks to put the phone in some condition to flash the available roms but I really will be glad if someone can explain to me all the process to How flash the Rom.
I know is a stupid question but flash the Z1 is not even close to what I was doing with my old friend HD2 and I want to be sure to do all well.
Thanx in advance.
You should post this in the QA section, anyway, root your device first - install recoveries - download preferred rom - push to SD card - Reboot to recoveries - wipe system, cache and dalvik cache - Flash ROM. You should be fine

In the past (on my xperia S) you where able to chage Governors and Frequences. But wait for this a while. Unlocking bootloader is needed only if you use non stock based ROMs like CM, AOSP and so on. [Q] Question about ROMs and warranty

Hello developers and xda members!
Some months/weeks ago I asked about rooting and warranty.I got some answers that if I unroot it or use SEUS I will not loose warranty.
This time is about roms and locked bootloaders.
If I install a CWM Recovery then flash a ROM do I void warranty? If yes is there anyway that I can make it so it's like I never flashed anything so the warranty will still last?
If yes what is the best rom I can install for LOCKED bootloader(I don't want to unlock it)?
I want a rom with good battery life + camera (I don't care if it's not 100% perfect but at least better than the stock one!)
Any answer would be helpful!
Thanks

Even if you unlock your bootlader you wont loose your warranty (if that is the reason you are not doing it).Just make a backup of your DRM keys and the unlock code and keep it safe.

Even if I don't unlock it and just install a rom(e.x Existenz) would I need to backup DRM keys?
Also can you give me a SAFE tutorial about backing them up?
I also asked about a good rom that has a good battery life and camera than the stock one.
What's your opinion about roms? What is the best based on your opinion?

Even if I don't unlock it and just install a rom(e.x Existenz) would I need to backup DRM keys?

If you wont be unlocking the bootlooder, you dont need the backup. Here is the thread with anything needed to get started with your phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1701644
I've never used the stock or other based on it (I use 4.3+ ROMs ), but other forum members say that Existenz is the best one out there.Currently, I am using the leaked 4.3,but it is for unlocked bootloaders.

Why would I need the list of things to scan with a NFC enabled phone?
Anyway so I will not void my warranty if i flash a custom rom and then "format" it with SEUS?
That's my point

nope, SUS will just repair the phone, leaving no evidence of root or ROM

OK Thanks nanostray (again because you also gave me answers for rooting my phone).
I will proceed installing Xperia ExistenZ rom and I hope I will not brick my phone!:fingers-crossed:
Thanks for any answer

Oops..wrong link!Here s the right one : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2354704
P.S. Im not sure but I think you will still have your warranty.Back in the days, when i had my xperia x8 and it got hardbricked, I lied to my operator that it got fully discharged and it never turned on again. The trick worked and it went to Sony with a custom ROM inside of it .Anyways..today i had to revert to stock, because the tutorial for the leaked 4.3 said so, but i encountered a problem - SUS said that my phone has modified software and it didn't complete the operation.I had to flash an .ftf image file with flashtool. But after all, It was successfull.
Ehm I got a question. At the install instructions of Existenz it says
Flash the rom.
Flash NUT reboot fix: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2317432
Flash 12.0.A.2.254 kernel only with flashtool (see FAQ).
As I see NUT reboot fix is for Xperia Z...Do I need to install this?Do I also need to install .254 kernel only again? At the FAQ it says about How to flash 6.2.B.1.96 Kernel with flashtool <- but this kernel is for Z...What happens?
Should I flash the rom then reboot my phone and OK?
Should I flash the rom then reboot my phone and existenz rom opens and then flash the NUT reboot fix?
Should I flash the rom then instantly install the NUT reboot fix?
Should I also install the kernel (12.0.A.254)?
I am kinda confused :/

Always glad to help but remember, in case of unlocked BL, SUS will not work.
Aye, you got a thank button for that, mate

1. Flash ROM
1.b Reboot phone
2. Use .bat from NUT (I used it after OTArootkeeper failed and I couldn't mount /system r/w)
3. Flash the kernel with Flashtool
Step 1b and 2 depend on what you prefer, flashing the fix or rebooting and let the computer do the fix: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317432
You can use NUT for the SP. About the kernel I'm not sure. I am on LB atm.
Hope this helps (except for the kernel of course)

[Q] noob question on rooting XSP

Hello everyone. I have probably the most typical question asked on these boards. I would like to root and install a custom ROM. I think anything custom will outperform the stock update I've got from Sony right now. First, my phone:
Sony Xperia SP
C5306
Android v4.3 running stock kernel
Build 0.266
With a locked bootloader
I have read a fair bit of Doomlord's info re: ROMs on LBs. (Thank you Doomlord!)
From what I understand the steps look something like this:
1 - obtain root - I think I should be able to root using Towelroot (Thank you Geohot!)
2- make backup of TA partition? - but I do not plan on unlocking my bootloader, thus this isn't required?
3- flash custom ROM using Flashtool.
Am I totally out in left field? There is soo much information! Can anyone here point me in the right direction for 0.266? I don't care about Bravia engine etc, I just want a smoother ROM.
Please be nice, as so many people have been on these boards!
Thank you from Canada!
See bro, I've seen many people say this that I'm a noob. And I've seen the same kind of thread number of times. Please search before you ask.
Just root it with towelroot and install supersu and busybox and recoveries simple. You won't lose be and other stuff

Thank you for the reply. I will do a more thorough search. Question though - with a locked bootloader I would still be able to flash a custom ROM?

Many thanks to both of you! I now have root, will install custom recovery, do a nandroid backup, and then flash a custom ROM. I just needed the proper steps, so thank you! Unfortunately I cannot upgrade the FW because my cell provider (Rogers in Canada) hasn't given the green light yet My phone has run really poorly since the latest upgrade, hence my quest to flash it.
One question, and it may be a stupid one, but do I need to install the Sony drivers for my phone? I have installed adb, SuperSU and busybox.. are Sony's drivers required? Is fastboot required? Because when I run the install.bat script and select the '1' option it loads the daemon but just sits there - my phone never asks me for SU access. What am I doing wrong, o wise ones?
EDIT: I figured it out and now have TWRP making a nandroid backup. Am very excited. Thanks everyone!

[Q] Official rom : updates seem to be blocked

Hello, I'm trying to update a Sony Xperia Z (from the phone's menu), but for some reason, the updates don't work, as if they were blocked. From what I've been told, someone tried to root the phone using some random tutorial on the internet, ended up in a bootloop (at the SONY logo), then flashed an official rom (4.1.2 IIRC) via flashtools or a similar software to solve the bootloop. I've checked the bootloader status dialing [*#*#7378423#*#*], and it's still locked .
I don't want to risk bricking it since it's not mine, but the person who owns it really wants to be able to update it normally via the phone (very casual user, no flashing knowledge or anything), so I would be happy if someone could help me ! So, teach me Masters, what should I do ? Thanks in advance !
P.S. : if there's already a post/tutorial about that, I'm sorry but didn't find it =)

As far as I know OTA doesn't work with unlocked bootloader (correct me, If I'm wrong).
Sony PC Companion won't work either, because your friend/you had unlocked your bootloader.
You can relock it, but it won't work either way, if you don't have TA-Backup with your DRM keys, I think

Hello, and thanks for your answer ! I just talked with the person who tried to modify the phone, and actually, he didn't install a custom rom, he just tried to root the phone following some random tutorial, then ended up in a bootloop. He doesn't know if he unlocked the bootloader or not, but to solve the bootloop, he flashed an official rom via his pc (flashtools or something similar), as I said in the previous post... does that change anything ? Anyway, I'm gonna edit the OP to make things more clear.
EDIT : just checked the bootloader status by typing [*#*#7378423#*#*] in the dialer, it's NOT unlocked. =)

Well, that explains everything.
Firstly, you've to download Flashtool (I suggest you to read carefully the information provided in the link) and install its drivers. If you've already done it, you can proceed futher.
♦ I suggest you to go straight to the newest version (4.4.4) Generic. Here is .FTF file, which needs to be put in flashtool /firmware(s) folder (your friend should know it): Generic 4.4.4 FTF HERE
Before start, make sure you know what are you doing and it is only your responsibility.
By flashing .ftf you won't brick your device unless you'll try to flash custom kernel on locked bootloader or something like this.
If you need a tutorial which describes how to flash .ftf, then quote this message and I'll try sort this thing out with you

Awesome ! Yes, indeed, if you could tell me how to do it or link me to a tutorial, that would be very appreciated ! I already have flashtools installed, but don't know the commands, or the right steps to flash something without using a recovery. Anyway, thanks for your time ^^
EDIT : I forgot to indicate that I'm running flashtools on linux, so no interface, everything has to be done with commands lines... so the tutorial in the link in your previous post can't be used with my os, I think !
