[Q] Return To Stock - HTC Vivid, Raider, Velocity

I have read all the threads regarding returning to stock but I still have some questions about the order to do things. I am having problems with the battery and headphone jack so I am planning on returning under warranty considering I've only had it for 6 months...

RECOVERY Team Win Recovery Project v 2.3.1
BOOTLOADER ***UNLOCKED***
Holiday PVT Ship S-OFF RL
HBOOT-1.85.0025
I have an Apple computer but I can use my dad's PC if necessary. First problem: I am looking to find a PH39img.zip but have not come across it. Can anyone point me in the right direction? First question: Will the ph39img.zip make the phone S-ON? Or will I have to use the bootloader customizer to show ***LOCKED*** and S-ON? If I use the bootloader customizer, do I flash the ph39img.zip it creates before or after I flash the ph39img.zip with the stock rom? Before flashing the rom I must relock the phone using the fastboot command, correct?
Sorry for all the questions, I just really don't wanna screw this up and I haven't found answers in other threads that specifically address how these questions interact with each other. Thanks!
EDIT: Would it be easier to use the RUU.exe then flash a ***LOCKED*** S-ON bootloader? Would this method completely return the phone to stock? (Or at least make it look like it lol)

Return To Stock
Well first we need to know what carier you are on because the PH39IMG.zip and RUU differs for each carier. Here is the link to all the RUU's for the Holiday
( I would post the lick but I just created this account so im not allowed )
The AT&T one is the one with the word cingular in it ( be sure to download the latest AT&T one as there was a leak )
Just pull the PH39IMG.zip file out of the RUU ( google it )
Regarding yout questions, I don't know if it will make you S-ON I dont know if it will say locked as I have never done this myself. Im not familiar with the boot customizer but BEFORE using the fastboot command ( just to be on the safe side ) flash the stock recovery which can be pulled from the RUU ( google is your friend ) then lock the bootloader using the fastboot command and then either run the RUU or flash the PH39IMG.zip in bootloader.:good: and you should be back to stock and able to do an OTA update again ( if there was one )
PS: ( If you want I can pull the PH39IMG.zip for you

[Q] Vivid Leaked ICS to Official ICS

I upgraded my phone using the leaked ICS build that hit a little bit before the final one was released. I would like to get my phone updated to the official ICS build. I was looking through GSLEON's thread in the dev forum and he mentions:

The absolute safest way to update to ICS is to relock your device & return it to as close to stock as you can get it. Relocked you can flash the leaked GB AT&T rom in football's thread.

Make sure that if you have a custom recovery that is is updated & double check that it is. Write the version numbers down to confirm, both before & after.
There was an early recovery that could not (CANNOT) be overwritten without flashing a modified PH39IMG file first, then flashing stock or new modified recovery.
If you update with your device with that original recovery, you may be very sorry.

My problem with this is two-fold:
1. I'm not sure where to get the specially modified ph39img
2. I'm really nervous because I like my phone a lot!
Any help you can offer would be really appreciated!
Here's a screenshot of my homescreen because I accidentally took one while getting it out of the case!

Well firstly the RUU your referring to is for official gingerbread. You dont need to flash the modified file unless you have the old recovery so thats un needed. Use this official RUU link http://dl3.htc.com/application/htc_vivid_att_RUU_3.26.502.56_US.exe to flash your phone to the official ics build.
Thanks for the heads up, sorry for misinterpreting things. I'll give this a go when I get off work!
Looks like it worked! Thanks again
TWRP OK?
I have done some research on this and have found that I can get s-off by flashing a RUU rom. The thing is is that I have to have an updated recovery. Right NOw i have the TWRP 2.4.4.0 and wondering if Im good to flash the RUU or if i need to return to stock recovery.
I dont mind losing root as I can re root it.

Not positive that i have the recovery that makes brick sandwich, becasue there is a old recovery that does not allow certain system files to fetch the files needed to install RUU.
Need to verify recovery/flash stock RUU rom
if recovery is not verified / flash stock recovery

Found some more research with the borked ROm which seems to turn s-off. The rom is compiled from a stock ruu so im thinking I can still flash this Unlock_code.bin and get me unlocked with this awesome rom

all thanks goes to homeslice976 and please dont beat me up for posting your link as I am looking for easier ways to get this phone unlocked so i can activate it on tmobile.
It seems that I have found an alternative to having the bootloader unlocked and the s-off to be able to change the radio to tmobile with Unlock_code.bin on the stock RUU img
I have since flashed the WXC recovery pretty awesome wildchild, great work!

HTC warranty, how to remove all signs of modification ?

I recently been wondering if not to sell my HTC One and buy cheaper Nexus 4, becouse built quality is not perfect and speakers are popping. There is no simple guide, step by step of how to return to complete stock. My ex: bootloader unlock, tempared, custom recovery, Android 4.2.2, S-ON, Orange PL. Please help me and probably confused other users comprehend whole subject.
My idea;
1. Flash oryginal rom(i dont see RUU of my provider damn it, its, orange poland)
2. Flash oryginal recovery
3. Unlock S-on to s-off
4. Remove tempared flag
5. Set bootloader to lock (is it possible now?)
6. Set s-off to S-ON
?
Or if I will acquire ruu:
1. Boot loader relock
2. Flash RUU
3. Unlock S-on tos-off
4. Chagne relock to lock
5. Lock S_off to s-on
Can anyone confrim?
Sent from my Nexus 10 using xda app-developers app
Yes, sir, you have the correct steps. And yes, it is possible to change it to "locked" rather than "relocked". I am not sure what the commands are, but I have seen them several times posted on this forum. A Google search or a search on the forum will yield the results you're looking for. It is done using ADB commands, just for reference, but I am sure you already know that.
If you cannot acquire the correct RUU and your device isn't .401 which means you cannot install this or the older 4.1.2 version of it (which should be the one you're looking for if you want to be 100% stock), then I'd suggest changing your CID in order to be able to install whatever RUU you want. There is a link to stock 4.1.2 either in the last page of the thread or the page before it, just look for it.
I would like to know
Is it possible to use nandbackup and restore system from other polish user, the flash recovery, lock bootloader and relock htc s-on? Becouse in fact its is the only possiblity to get related with orange bull**** apps like where is my child etc ?

Unlocking HTC One, few Q's please

I attempted to flash my UK Vodafone HTC One as I wanted Android Revolutiion HD ROM on my phone, i've sort of got half way and i'm not sure how to continue (or if I should)
So i've unlocked the bootloader, and flashed the clockwork recovery so my phone now says *TAMPERED*
It is still S-On and is on HBOOT 1.54 - having read around this cannot be done, right?
Also, one other quick question. If I ever wanted to go back to complete stock, how can I do this? I can't seem to find the RUU for my phone, and how would I remove *TAMPERED*
Here is my radio version: 4A.17.3250.14
ANY HELP IS MUCH APPRECIATED GUYS! I've rooted other HTC's before but not the One yet
You can't go S-Off on 1.54
You could just flash the stock rom and stock recovery, which has the same result as an RUU/
Tampered is removed when you lock, but you can't remove -relocked- without S-Off
Thanks for your reply.
So what you're saying is in the situation I am in at the moment, I can't flash the ARHD ROM to my phone without being S-OFF first?
It's basically just a waiting game for S-OFF to become available for 1.54 and then I could just flash the stock ROM and recovery and then S-OFF to remove the TAMPERED or RELOCKED.
This will be just incase id ever need to send the phone off to Vodafone for whatever reason

[Q] Downgrade from 4.4.2 to 4.3 using Mac OS.

Hello Xda-Developers, im new in the Android world, since i've been an iPhone user since the original iPhone all the way to the iPhone 4 (then things got pretty boring with). I used to Jailbreak my iPhone to have a more flexible experience with it... about 8~9 months ago i bought my first Android, an HTC One (M7) and it worked like a charm and never wanted to look back to iPhone, UNTIL one day i made an OTA update to 4.4.2, i've been having troubles with the signal, it shows full bars, i have 3G signal, but it shows "No Service" and i can't make/receive calls/SMS, i've been searching for 2 weeks or so, on how to fix it and i even sent it to warranty, and had my Sim replaced... twice. The problem persists, reading further i found that many users have been having this issues (and others) since the Kit Kat Update... So i decided to go beyond the world of a normal user... i want to downgrade from 4.4.2 to 4.3 (by the way i'm a Mac user), before making this thread i've been looking other threads and forums to help me on how to do it This is my first post on XDA Developers. Trust me, i've been looking for answers everywhere, the most similar thread i found was this thread.
And at the end the guy went for a new device, so that thread didn't help me out that much.
What i was able to do (hey, at least its a start) is to Unlock the Bootloader via HTCdev.
i think i've read pretty much to know some terms already, also thanks to Lifehacker
So... as i said before, im a Mac user, unfortunately i don't find much answers on how to do stuff with my HTC One and my Mac.
Let's get to the point:
I'd like to downgrade from 4.4.2 to 4.3 (the original HTC version, or a 4.4.2 stable custom version, whatever you think is better)
PS. Do i reeeeaaly need to S-Off and/or downgrade my HBoot?

Tampered is not harmful, just ugly to see. It's a flag for service to know your phone is not unlocked out of the box. You can just flash a 4.3 ROM, no need to s-off

Yes, s-off is required to downgrade. Ruu is possible with a mac if you use a ruu.zip instead of a ruu.exe. S-OFF is more difficult to achieve on hboot 1.56, so maybe you'll have to use a custom rom if you can't s-off.
If you already unlocked bootloader and rooted your phone, I assume you can use adb and fastboot from your mac. If not then read this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1917237
Then s-off the phone using rumrunner or firewater.
There is also a discussion here about S-OFF and hboot 1.56: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2567727
If you can s-off you'll be able to downgrade using a ruu.zip from your mac.

After this, will i be able to make OTA Updates?

You can flash anything you like. If you flash stock rooted 4.3 ROM you will get OTA but you can't upgrade just like that. You need to relock your bootloader, flash stock recovery and stock kernel. On the other hand, you have great choice of custom kitkat ROMs which work great, so you can flash one of them. ARHD 53 would be my recomendation

Thanks a lot!
So far i managed to Unlock bootloader (with a Tampered Flag), S-OFF with firewater on hboot 1.56 and root it via TWRP and SuperSU.
I cant find a RUU for my CID HTC__405 though i have this stock ROM and it says it can restore to stock radios (which hopefully will solve my problems)... stock radios will be restored now that i have S-Off... right?
and a last question... once i am back in 4.3 will i be able to download further OTA updates (say... when 4.4.3 comes out)? if not, what should i do now?

Did you check your md5's??? I've had a multitude of my friends phones get stuck on boot screen.. Tell them to check md5 and it works.. One, as others have said, I would suggest flashing a couple Roms. See what you like, if you don't like any of them, then ruu back to stock. Also what twrp are you using? Did the ROM you installed request for a certain recovery to be used? I'm a Mac user so I understand lol. But what ROM??

i managed to solve it, i re installed this ROM which matches my CID (HTC__405), the ROM didnt ask me for any recovery to be used..... anyway.. so far i haven't had any luck fixing my first issue, which is that whenever i lose signal it wont reconnect, it will say "No Service" but still have 3G/4G working, i cant make/receive calls/SMSs.
Any idea on how to fix this issue?

Nope, before making this whole thread i sent it to warranty and they supposedly repaired it, i changed sim twice.
im going back further, trying 2.24.401.8 with android 4.2
Let's see if that works, or else i'll start trying custom ROMs... so far i've been using stocks.

Well, good luck. I just want to say - if you have the same problem with more than one ROM, no matter if it's stock or modified there is a hardware issue.
Supposedly is what bothers me the most in your case. Maybe your service doesn't care for their customers. It wouldn't be the first
True ^^ I agree with @donkeykong1 If you've had two SIMs and all that......its a hardware issue that is malfunctioning....

You're s-off correct? Ive seen people not needing to go back s-on for warranty purposes. But pretty much if you want to go back to stock, its just ruu, it does it all for you. Takes you back Locked with factory recovery and full just straight stock.

my question is... how do i use a RUU.zip? do i install it placing it in the internal storage then use TWRP?

Ok, so i know where to find some RUUs but i know using a mac i have to use a .zip, right?
my question is... how do i use a RUU.zip? do i install it placing it in the internal storage then use TWRP?
So far i haven't lost signal.

Okay, well a ruu can be placed on the internal memory.....but...... the way that I've always seen it done, or a lot of times is
Code:
./adb reboot bootloader
Code:
./fastboot oem rebootRUU
Code:
./fastboot flash RUU.zip
the RUU.zip could be named anything so you might have to rename the RUU or change the RUU.zip in terminal to what ever the foop you named it, although I wouldn't do the RUU with those instructions just yet.... Can someone else confirm it??

you might want to reset your phone using a ruu before to make sure your issue is really related to an hardware defect.
This ruu.zip will reset your phone to stock 1.28.401.7 (android 4.1.2) and hboot 1.44.
Then if you see the phone still have the issue, remove the tampered flag and set the bootloader back to ''LOCKED'' using this tool. Then s-on and send for warranty repair/replacement. This procedure must be done before you take any ota that will update your phone to hboot 1.55 or the tampered flag will come back and you'll have to s-off again and redo the entire procedure.

Make sure the ruu.zip is in the same folder where adb and fastboot are.
Code:
./adb reboot bootloader
or manually reboot the phone in bootloader using power + vol down
Code:
./fastboot oem rebootRUU
make sure ''RUU'' are capital letters
Code:
./fastboot flash name_of_ruu.zip
First time it will output a failed message, do the same command again:
Code:
./fastboot flash name_of_ruu.zip

i'm a total htc noob (came from xperia to htc)

Hi guys! I just got my brand new htc one (m7) with this stock software:
M7_UL PVT SHIP S-ON RH
HBOOT-1.55.0000
RADIO-4A.21.3263.04
OpenDSP-v32.120.274.0909
OS-3.63.708.3
eMMC-boot 2048MB
Oct 29 2013,17:34:05.0
HBOOT
Xperia's are easily rooted, deodexed, unlocked, re-locked, downgraded, etc. and if I want to revert to stock, i'll just flash stock FTF and return to warranty unlike HTC phones there's this hboot, s-off, etc. I read a lot of tutorials, noob guides, etc. but got confused on where to start. I just want root without unlocking bootloader or s-off and revert to stock when needed. Any tips guys? and how do you compare xperia development from htc's. Thanks guys.

you can only get temproot without unlocking the bootloader
the steps for your phone are
unlock bootloader @ htcdev.com
flash custom recovery (TWRP 2.6.3.3 preferred)
Make a Nandroid Backup
Flash SuperSU
reboot and enjoy

Yes,unlocking bootloader is must if you want to get permanent root.Further, if you want to return to complete stock in future, you should think about getting S-Off too.I have had a lot of problem because i can't get S-Off .But you should study before you do anything. Unlocking bootloader will result in loss of data/preload* apps which is a serious problem if you want to get future official OTA updates. If you unlock bootloader,u have to flash data/preload apps again if an official OTA update comes in near future. The most serious part is that the OTA updates check md5 of the apps intalled,so each app of data/preload must have the same md5 as before. But, if you are planning to use custom roms and you don't want official updates, that is not going to be a problem. There are several things that should be carefully studied before you do anything.I can give you a head start on what items to study.
1.check your CID ,mid, firmware version and note it.
2.Search OTA which matches your CID,mid and firmware version, it contains the stock recovery,data/preload apps which you may need in future.
3.Try to learn about S-ON/S-OFF, their uses and implications.
4.Do study about how OTA affects your chances to get S-OFF which you may need in future during serious problems.
5. try to read more and more through the forum, this is must.
Lastly,if you need comprehensive details on unlocking bootloader, flashing recovery, rooting and more, go through the video tutorials by "Sakitech" on youtube.I found them the most useful ones.And. last but not the least, this is all my opinion.Good luck!:good:

only if you get s-off ... you can not flash a RUU lower than your current software version with s-on
The post above by @sudhirtripathee explains alot

he mentions the OTA contains files you may need in the future ... it's of no use to you now your already above that version. When you unlock the bootloader your phone gets wiped and you loose (everything) a folder called data/preload
that's needed later to take a new OTA update. That folder can sometimes be retrieved from an old OTA package.
I know it seems confusing now but it will all be simple once you start doing it.

In my opinion, unlock your bootloader, intall custom recovery, and root. After you do all these steps, your device's bootloader menu will show tampered and unlocked flag. So, if you want to remove those flags in future, you will strictly need S-OFF. So, you could see how important is it to get S-OFF. Getting S-OFF gets harder as the hboot version of your phone increases and hboot version normally increases after official software update. In some cases, you will need to use premium apps like Moonshine to get S-OFF.So i advice you to unlock bootloader, intall custom recovery, root and then get S-OFF. Having all of them gives you entire freedom in modding. But, after having S-OFF, you will also need to be more responsible when you flash things. That's why, i told you to read as much as possible. If you want to do what i told you, follow these steps.
1.unlock bootloader, install custom recovery, and root.Link:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJYAS2KN17Y
2.to get S-OFF, try: http://firewater-soff.com/instructions/
3. During the end of second step, if you get "Whelp it sucks,no amount of re-flashing custom roms and kernel will do", you will need moonshine to S-OFF. Since it is a premium app,AFAIK, you will need to pay 25$. But, before you pay, they will make sure whether or not will it work on you device.Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2291087, http://moonshine.io/
4.and to return back to 100% stock in future, this tutorial might help: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2358738

To gain permanent root access:
I'm gonna need to unlock bootloader first;
Make a stock nandroid (with stock recovery intact via cmd fastboot boot recovery.img);
Install custom recovery and install SuperSU.zip
To revert to 100% stock:
I'm gonna be needing S-OFF. (i'm on 1.57 so I'm gonna search for it.)
flash my stock nandroid
flash stock recovery (if fastboot boot recovery.img didnt work)
lock recovery
fix tampered/relock flag
done.
Thanks!

my current stock status:
To gain permanent root access:
1)I'm gonna need to unlock bootloader first; + 2)flash a custom recovery like TWRP
3)Make a stock nandroid (with stock recovery intact via cmd fastboot boot recovery.img); ---> fastboot boot recovery.img command only work on hboot 1.44 so you'll need to make a nandroid backup with the recovery installed on your phone which will overwrite your stock recovery.
Install custom recovery and 3)install SuperSU.zip
To revert to 100% stock:
I'm gonna be needing S-OFF. (i'm on 1.57 so I'm gonna search for it.) --> Firewater or Sunshine if firewater doesnt work.
flash my stock nandroid + flash back /data/preload folder (wiped when unlocking bootloader)
flash stock recovery (if fastboot boot recovery.img didnt work) If you can find your stock recovery somewhere (overwritten by the custom recovery)
lock recovery
fix tampered/relock flag ---> might come back if removed on hboot 1.55 and above

yes but downgrade only if needed (like to return to stock) You must have s-off to downgrade and use this RUU. Once downgraded you can take ota to re-update your phone.

just confirm that the ruu match your MID and CID
CID and MID of the ruu can be found in the android-info.txt file of the ruu

one more thing, if i flash the RUU.zip for my version, my current hboot (1.57) will also be downgraded to that version's hboot?
and will it be back to s-on (if i succeeded s-off now) ? thanks

yes hboot will also be downgraded. You will not loose s-off when flashing a ruu. Only turn s-on back if you must send the phone for warranty.
