My initial Nexus 4 has a small hole in the centre of the backlight through which light escapes when viewed from any sort of angle. It's quite distracting, so I've elected to send it back. I've only seen one other user with this defect.
Half the threads on this forum are about problems people are having, and each seems to have a respectable number of vocal sufferers. But people come here because they have these problems, and it's tough to determine how the average customer is making out.
I'm mostly curious because I have no idea what to expect of the replacement I receive. Glue blotches? Who knows.
I wonder what the actual % is. Poll up top for those interested.
I have the speaker problem but i can not hear it. My buddy's N4 has it has well. He said he thinks his is worst on his phone. Because i can not hear it i do not think there is a problem. Over all i have been very happy with the phone. I can't wait for Franco to get his so we can get some better kernels.
These results will always be obscured. People that don't have a reason to complain usually won't make a thread saying" hey got my phone today, works as expected"

I'm the only person I've seen posting with my defect -- the camera LED doesn't work, no flash, no flashlight. I'm obviously getting a replacement, shipped today.
Mine has a yellow tint on the bottom half of the screen. Replacement was shipped out today
My Nexus 4 locks up in deep sleep (while charging usually). In order to restart the phone, I have to hit Power + Vol Down which shows me the charging animation, afterwhich I can hit power to start the phone. I've already wiped the phone and flashed the stock 4.2 image from Google, and uninstalled any applications known to be incompatible. Seems to be a hardware issue so I requested an RMA.
Mine acted odd but, sometimes when I have a notification, I can't wake the device's screen forcing me to do a power cycle.
To the guy above me, to reset the device all you need to hold is the power button...

Had a speck of dust stuck between the screen and the display. It was super annoying at first because there was a glue "halo" around it, which dried up and it ended up looking like a huge dead pixel.
Replacement arrived fine, but I have had a problem with both phones rebooting constantly when pushing them. It's starting to really piss me off.
Anyone else notice the vibration function is off sometimes. At time its feels great like it should, but other times it feels a little too strong, like it's a little loose.
Overall I'm really happy with the phone; everything is perfect.
I have the yellow spots on my screen. They seem to get worse over time. My replacement shipped today though. I'm really hoping it doesn't have any issues.

I think I have a similar problem. Somewhere in the middle of the screen there's a really small, slightly distorted little spot that's brighter than everywhere else. It bugs me whenever I see it, I was contemplating sending it in.

That's most likely backlight bleed.

The reason I haven't sent it in yet is because I'll probably just be trading one defect for another. It'll come back with the speaker hiss or yellow screen.

When you come to a forum about hardware you will have a high rate of people who have faults, that is natural as people come to ask. You can only find out for yourself and luckily the consumer is protected by law for the first 30 days or whatever they have to decide they aren't happy with it.
The build quality does look quite shocking though.
Hope they don't pass all the replacement directly to LG like what they did on Galaxy Nexus after receiving too many replacement call.

What do you mean "when pushing them"?
I have a thin vertical blinking line to the of my screen it strechches the entire length of the screen.its noticible on any color background but white seems the worst as the line appears pink.I called Google today they should be sending a replacement this week.its ashamed other then the line the phone seems flawless but a line down the entire screen isn't something I can overlook
I am just now getting screen banding, obviously a defect. kinda frustrating..

Just from reading through a load of the threads in this forum, I've noticed a lot of indecision.
Let me explain...
Apparently, this phone has not got enough in stock to make sure everyone gets one, there's a buzz from the earphones, it heats up too much, it has poor battery life, poor touch sensitivity, easily scratchable, screen smashes too much, it drops down the toilet too easily, it makes a rattling noise, yellow tint, screen glitching, the screen looks washed out, massive interference whilst using a car charger, a looping FC of Bluetooth Share, not enough vibration, it randomly reboots, black dots under the screen, no connection on WLAN, not enough storage, dead pixels, grainy photos, LED flash doesn't work, wonky haptic feedback, antenna gate issue, slight lift on screen, brightness gets broke, unresponsive power button, slow auto focus, creaking on bottom right of the device, most free media from the play store only available in the US, purple glaze effect on the camera, wireless charging problems, the onscreen soft key, poor WiFi signal, gap between bezel and the side of the phone, it won't drive your car for you and it won't grow legs and kick your enemies.
I'm surprised I haven't seen a complaint saying that the box it comes in is 1mm too thick.
And yet the majority of people think it's the best phone ever.
Just make up your freaking mind!!!!!

I must disagree.
The box is way too thin. It creases way too easy and under a lunar eclipse you can really notice it.
Love the phone. My only complaint is that the vibrate thingy is useless!

Well if the box was 1inch thinner it would fit better in my drawer so damn them for not checking that before releasing the phone.

Mine has 'niggles' but I don't care, I'm picky but I'm not THAT picky!
The vibration works well, my alarm went off in my pocket when I was driving, gave me a boner so it's clearly strong enough! lol
People seem to be vocal with problems. I've always received an item, decided if it lives up to my expectations and returned it if it doesn't, without moaning on the forums. If it's a software issue, like most of my niggles I'm going to just deal with them until the fix comes, since this is a Nexus device after all, we're in good shape for updates!
Products have issues, welcome to the realm of early adoption.
Phil
Yep I agree. As much as everyone wants the perfect device you can't have cutting edge tech the day it comes out AND have a perfect device.
Under testing there is simply not enough retail devices made at this point to mass test under mass production conditions for long enough to find faults.
Even apple and Samsung and Sony etc etc all release devices be it phones TVs laptops hard drives or a desk fan all will be released before kinks are worked out
This is not deliberate, its just that issues which come up have not been found yet.
Check any identical devices made even 4months apart and you will no doubt find that there are different revisions of board used in them or chip.
Plastic production can be different and parts can be sourced else where .
So unless a recall is required for a dangerous fault, issues will be resolved in future devices.
This is not lg this is anything with a plug that this relates to.
I do agree however many cosmetic flaws should never pass quality control as they are easy enough to see and most of these QC checks are done with cameras now not humans so any discrepancy should be picked up easily to be referred to a human to double check.

Yeah, F this forum! Let's move to 4chan/nexus4!
Mine has a slightly buzzing earpiece and the screen seems a little darker on one side although this is probably just my eyes lol.
I have none of the other issues, and have to say that it is a MUCH better phone than the SGS 3 I had for six months.
I was constantly changing ROMS on the SGS3 and was never 100% happy.
This phone is built better, is louder, has a stronger vibrate, better screen, louder and clearer speaker, clearer in calls, much faster and is truly smooth and lag and skip free. The touchscreen is perfect.
Cannot make even one complaint about this phone that would put me off it.
I am enjoying my phone a ton!
My phone rattles but since I don't have Parkinsons I don't hear it.
I have the buzz but the only time I would be able to hear it is when I am on the phone and either me or the other person is talking to I can't hear it!
I don't take my phone to the bathroom so I haven't dropped it in the toilet yet.
Overall a great phone and totally worth the purchase price!

Well here is my few thoughts about the device.
Had the phone for about 3 weeks now, didn't use any sort of bumper or a case only a screen protector(s). And to be honest there ate issues that have evolved over time.
1. USB: when cable is connected and I gently move it up and down, port was clicking. Its like USB isn't glued properly inside and its coming off with every up/down move. This has now resolved, but instead when I gently press top and bottom part of the phone exactly where the USB port is, the phone is crackling.
2. Parts of the phone frame have started to crackle (or whatever the word ia) as well. E.g left top corner exactly where notification bar is
3. Power button is starting to wear off. Its harder to press and it starts to make funny sounds when pressed .
4. Not sure but I think I have yellowish tint at bottom part of the screen but it might be my eyes. Than again my eyes are quite ocd when it comes to stuff like that.
No other issues , no scratches, dents etc. It just feels that phone lost sturdiness ....
Will continue to update as new things emerge...
No other issues present at the moment

I have the two issues in bold. I thought I was just hearing things but yeah there's a clicking sound when I move the USB cable connector while it's plugged in.
Also have noticed a yellow hue in the bottom left corner of my screen since day one. Thought it would fade away but it's still there. Not a huge deal but it's definitely a bit odd.
I've had mine for a few weeks, and I'm not going to lie I get scared sometimes to squeeze the edges of the phone just in case I hear a crackle or squeak. I'm super ocd so Itll bother me knowing I have it even though I don't always feel it lol

If his experience reflects 0% of the population then all of the other threads started by others and comments from others still, in those threads should be closed by mods because they are obviously fake and classify as trolling. HOWEVER if maybe, JUST MAYBE the OP and the exceptionally high margin of other posters in the N4 forum are actually stating the truth about their experience with the obvious and even Google acknowledged (just call support like I did and they'll tell you they've gotten many calls from similar claims) then you sir are the troll and of the worse breed of trolls... The defensive, any complaints about Google or anything slightly related to Google cant be valid kind. Don't be a defensive sheep especially when your fellow tech nerd has a bad experience with a device that he payed $400 for. Honestly iSheep AND sheepdroids are equally annoying.

LG sold 10 million of these models.. Not talking about just Nexus but Optimus L models and they are now even working on their own chip. I do not think they are doing so badly..
With regards to your crying, it is not so much that people do not want to hear about issues. It is the fact that many people including myself think some of these things are not issues at all. I also wonder why you are in this forum if you do not want or like this phone? What is your reason? To agree with people who complain and to defend them?
A clicking usb? I have not wiggled my usb and with normal usage I don't. Perhaps it is built to wiggle or have a little give so it does not break. I don't know but this does not seem like an issue. Also, if you are not hearing any creaks with normal use than it is not a real problem. If you are putting the phone next to your ear and squeezing it all over than stop.
My phone is perfect. No yellowing, no creaking, no usb clicking, no mysterious cracks or scratches. I am so happy and the build quality is amazing as are many of LG'S products.

The only issue I've had so far is a bit of yellow tinting after extensive usage/screen on time, which is far from a deal breaker for me. I am BEYOND pleased with this phone - especially compared to the current flagships from other OEMs. It's not perfect, but I've yet to use a smartphone without it's own set of issues.

There are a few kernels that have color adjustment built in, like Motley's, so you don't have to use color adjust apps.
But those apps can be used on any kernel thus provides you more flexibility.
Your choice.
My HTC One screen seems to have some kind of mesh of faint diagonal lines running across the entire screen. It's kinda hard to explain, but basically when I look at the screen up close, it looks like the background of the Steam Android icon (see attachment). The lines are especially noticeable against light, single-coloured backgrounds; for example if I go to phone settings, look at the screen up close and slowly slide up and down, the lines become apparent since they do not move along with the rest of the graphics. The lines appear to be above the actual screen but below the glass surface. It almost seems like there's some kind of crappy screen protector on the screen or that the screen was somewhat dirty with fingerprints. I should also mention that the lines do not rotate with the screen; in portrait mode, they run from the top right of the screen to the bottom left, and in landscape mode from the top left to the bottom right.
Anyone encounter something like this before? I would probably think this was normal, that I'm just seeing the pixel array when I look at the screen up close, except that I never noticed lines like these on my previous One (which I returned due to several stuck pixels) even though I scoured the screen very closely.
I want to return the phone and get a new one, but I'm worried that they won't believe or see the issue at the store...
Mr. Me Too
I am typing this on a day old HTC One with this very issue. I've been surprised not to see any other mention of it, evidently it's either a rare fault or simply inherent to this digitiser and somehow nobody is noticing or bothered by it.
I've been agonising over the choice between this phone and the S4, I eventually settled for this and haven't had such buyers remorse in memory.
The screen is not only washed, more than I was expecting upon my return to LCD, but as you say it looks as though it is wet, covered in condensation or fingerprints. The overall effect resembles almost exactly the distortion you get from condensation caused by breath or sweat on the glass.
When looking closely it reveals itself as the diagonal lines of the digitiser as you describe.
It seems to cause the 'wet' or noisy colour distortion by being half darker stripes, and half naked. Almost like a micro version of reinforced safety glass.
If this is the nature of the HTC One, I would find it both surprising and in fact laughable.
However it is too precise in nature to be a fault or defect.
At this stage I'm planning on a swap for an S4 (albeit not for this reason alone, but that's another thread).
I did have some difficulty explaining and demonstrating the effect to the salesperson, and felt silly even talking about something so minute.
However - fat ugly bezel, washed colours and grey blacks aside - this is a flaw that completely ruins the display and therefore the phone itself for me.
I imagine this thread is DOA, if not let me know how you got on. It's an incredible relief to at least find one person who also noticed this and found it to be a problem.

It happens. It's the digitizer and happens on phones where the LCD and Digitizer are one piece. It isn't as big of a deal as you're making it though.

Yes - it is.
These companies are charging iPhone prices for phones they claim compete with them. Only Samsung have so far proven themselves in this regard.
I'm not about to pay flagship prices for what feels like an 8 year old phone pasted onto the front of a slab of aluminum.
Almost every review has touted this display as gorgeous, 'the best they've ever seen on a smartphone!' - that's bull***t, it's trash.
Seemingly there's a reason HTC is on it's way out - putting a Nokia candy-bar phone on a piece of shiny metal isn't going to change that.

If you ever want to return a phone to tmobile, just tell them it's stuck in a reboot cycle and sometimes it's not. If you have an issue like the screen and they might not see the problem you see and therefore not take it back. It's better to tell them you have an issue that can't always be displayed. Like your phone just keeps rebooting, keeps turning off. I have done this many times just to return my phone.

It really is. Why else would most people, whose job it is to review phones, say this if it weren't true?
Maybe HTC paid off all the reviewers. Or maybe you've convinced yourself there is a problem when there isn't.

Yeah I have the time and inclination to bash a phone I just bought for myself.
XDA is almost entirely made up of boards segmented into fanboy groups who serve as nothing but a broom to sweep any perceived criticisms of their devices under the proverbial rug.
I have a low post count because I've just bought the phone and am disappointed enough to discuss it.
HOLD UP GUIS LET ME SIGN TWO-YEAR SO THAT I CAN GO STRAIGHT HOME TO XDA AND BASH IT UNNECESSARILY!
F***ing lol.
The screen is awful by 2013 flagship standards.
No I don't think reviewers are paid off directly because I'm clearly not as simple minded as the pubescent pizza faces on this board.
Reviewers are wined and dined one way or another by the industry as a whole and wouldn't dare be overall negative about a brand or phone lest they stop receiving review units or invitations to press events.
The way genuine concern and criticism is shouted down and borderline stigmatised on this board is juvenile and pathetic. The irony of you considering us trolls when seemingly you're the ones with far too much free time, imagination, and lack of time spent outside of the womb.
The lines on the screen are normal. It's on mines and a friend's.
I only see it when holding the screen at an angle after turning the display off. It's just a funny little thing that's there. When the screen is being used it looks amazing!
I woukdnt take it back over a little thing like that. It's not broken...

You're all thinking of the horizontal bars visible behind the glass when the screen is off etc.
This is different. It's fine diagonal lines at a 45 degree angle that are constantly visible and affect the look of the screen at all times.

Like I mentioned in the OP, this was my second HTC One since I returned my first One due to several stuck pixels on the screen. The first one did not have these diagonal lines, as a result of which the screen looked much better than on the second One. Before returning my second One, I also went to the store and compared my One to a demo unit side by side, and the demo unit did not have this issue.

This is a different issue. The lines I'm describing are only visible when the screen is on.
Shortly after creating this thread, I returned my second HTC One to the store I bought it from and they sent it to HTC for servicing. It came back two weeks later with a service report saying that they had replaced one of the speakers and the SIM tray, despite the fact that I never experienced nor reported any issues with either. When I turned the phone on, I immediately noticed that the screen was exactly the same, the diagonal lines were still present. I commented about this to the salesperson and he also noticed the lines right away. He then suggested that the phone be sent back to HTC again with a more detailed explanation of the issue and apologised that the issue had not been resolved. That was a week ago, and I'm still waiting to hear back.
I'm not mad at HTC, phones can be defective and it seems that this is a rare issue. I am, however, somewhat annoyed by the fact that they replaced a speaker and the sim tray but did nothing to the screen, but hopefully they'll have a closer look at the screen this time around.
OK, now I am getting a bit mad. My phone just got back from its second two-week trip to HTC's service centre in Poland and the screen issue still hasn't been fixed. Instead, the service report says that two speaker components were swapped. This is the second time I sent my phone to them for servicing because the SCREEN is defective and the second time they mess around with SPEAKERS even though I have at no point indicated that there are any problems with the speakers. The guy at the store proved useless, his only suggestion being that they send the phone back to HTC a third time. He did, however, see the problem with the screen after I explained it to him. So I guess I have no choice but to send the phone back again and wait another two weeks for HTC to mess around with the speakers instead of actually fixing the damn screen.
So yeah, the HTC One is a great phone if you happen to get your hands on a unit that works as intended. So far I've been unable to do that.

Calm down, Tinderbox.
I'd like to know if anyone else is having this issue as well.
I just wanted to let you guys know my situation.
I have had problems with the build quality! I got my phone from Carphone Warehouse (UK) on Friday, I noticed a dead pixel and that the vibration was really loud (sounded cheap) so I took it back, the 2nd one I got the power button rattled like mad, I swapped it again and the same thing is happening with the power button. I am sick of it now and although the software is superb I cannot deal with the build quality. I'm now on the hunt for a different phone.
Cool story bro if your letting a freaking button keep u from keeping a phone then idk what to tell u

My power button makes a little noise too...but only when I shake the phone. Which really isn't a problem for me.

I can imagine it being annoying but lets not forget the iPhone 5s has many reports of loose/rattly power buttons too and they cost double of what the Nexus 5 costs.
Not making excuses for LG/Google but even Apple isn't immune to this.
Recently I even saw an article about the Note 3 having a loose or crooked home button. In all reality nothing is perfect, there is a margin of error allowed for every phone that comes off of the line that's just how it goes.
I don't think the build quality is the best, it feels quite cheap and feels as if it could break easily. The Gorilla Glass 3 feels amazing to touch though!
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
And that's why I wait for the problems to iron themselves out before I order a new phone.
power button is fine on mine however the volume button edges are razor sharp and seem quite rough.
Anyone else have this?
nexus 4 first releases had issues with the buzz noise in the ear piece. risks of being a pioneer user for the phone? At least you can freely get it replaced for now. after I RMA'd, I received one with perfect build quality. Keep trying!
Must be lucky then, no dead pixels here and any noticeable backlight bleed and the buttons are fine apart from being slighly rough on the sides. Cant fault the build quality here and I would say you're simply unlucky, 1 dead pixel is nothing in a display and for just a simple thing as the button rattling when you shake it... who shakes their phones? This reminds me of the silly thread in the N4 section where the autofocus for the camera caused a rattle when you shook the phone yet alot of people went OCD on it and were livid on such a small issue.
First part with the dead pixel I believe is fair but you replaced it and got one that didnt have a dead pixel so BQ doesnt sound like an issue...

Just out of curiosity has anyone elses buttons rattle when you shake the phone. Im only asking as a point of reference. I know many will say it theirs doesn't but lets be honest Iv heard it a million times then I go to a store and try a a few and find they all do to some extent. It would be great to hear from those that have the phone and honestly,
hey if it rattles it rattles it will just be the way its made that results in a rattle. I would think it strange though that LG would put so much effort into making ceramic buttons for durability and longevity then not fit them properly on production.
so I would suggest this is probably normal although i never tried shaking the phones I had hands on today though,
The ones I had hands on did have a sharp edge to the buttons. Didn't bother me though its simply the type of material they are made from. Its not like it will cut off a digit and nice that it felt solid. It also had a nice click to them as well when using them.
When I get me N5, if the only issue it has is a rattling power button I will be more then ecstatic and consider that one hell of a device.
I wouldnt care as long as dust doesnt get in the screen Im fine. HTC always had that issue. Plus I am getting a case so I am not worried.
Solution to your button problems:
Get a decent case, like the Spigen Neo Hybrid: HERE

Tbh in all the ones Iv held there isnt much to go wrong. Unless there is any noticeable pixel issues.
the only thing i foresee as being a common fault cry will be the back plate and any gaps between the edge of this and where it meets the phones frame because its secured in with clips around the backplate. So its logical to assume that since its not glued or screwed down at every point around the device there will be points that you would be able to get a nail under and bend/flex a bit more than other points.
However this is not a fault its just through the way its secured down.
Besides this and the sharp edge of the buttons there is really nothing else to be faulty on this. Earpiece and speaker all seems to be of good quality and screen is gorgeous.
Like everything else there will be the odd faulty one that slips though but im pretty surprised at how well this seems to be put together

Hey!
Got a Note 9 last week and day after receiving it i noticed when holding the note 9 and pressing on screen in certain areas (near sides/corners/centre) it would make a popping noise, sounds like adhesive behind the screen not adhering properly or something like that. I got Samsung to replace with a brand new one and same thing with this one, it happens whether phone is on or off, it's definitely not rite as you can hear it very clearly, feels like some flex going on in screen when it happens as i can feel the screen kind of dip slightly when it makes the noise, but ok when it does not make the noise.
Curious to see if anyone else have had the same issue? gutted as loved it for the short while i had it but sending second one back now for refund as worried something will happen with screen further down the road and Samsung may not cover it. I know of at least 3 others who had this issue when buying same time as me.

Wow. No issues like that. I've had three Note 9s and all three have been perfect. I'd definitely return for a replacement. Weak or loose glue could seriously affect the water resistance, since it depends on a water tight seal between the screen and the frame. I'd never recommend using your phone in water anyway, but I at least like the assurance that if my phone takes an accidental dip. There's a good chance it will survive.

Yep real shame, my replacement was the same to, it's on way back, getting a refund, not worth risking something going wrong with the screen later down the road, i mean manufacturers do anything to not accept responsibility specially when it comes to screens. agreed.
After studying the noise a bit more, it is definitely an issue with the glue. It will not happen all the time I press the screen, but it happens more often when the phone is a bit warm to the touch (e.g. charging the battery). Also, it appears to be along the side where the battery resides - I wouldn't worry about the battery itself, it just makes sense that the glue will get loose where it heats up more often (in my case, I don't stress the phone all that often for the other side where the SoC is to play a role). Anyways I'll be returning it tomorrow once the shops here in Berlin open 'cause now it's christmas break.
One extra thing that might be interesting, the back-side also has some sort of a glass-separation issue, at least it looks like that. Notice the circular smudge around and right of the DUOS label - I tried cleaning it but it comes back, I think the glass is separated at that point too, but just a tiny bit. I've had the phone for four days and haven't dropped/hit/scratched it AFAIK.

i agree with you, seems to be adhesive/glue issue, it did not happen all the time for me either but as you mention it, i noticed it more after recharging (when phone gets warm) so think you nailed the issue on the head to be honest.
I noticed it around the sides (edges) and the centre of screen, second one was even worse much more noticeable and was happening straight away after taking it out of box.
Something i noticed but never mentioned as wasn't sure but second one was the same, maybe it's normal but don't think it is, on the curved corners of the screen it appeared to me the screen looked slightly lifted not flush with the frame but only on corners.
I live in the UK btw. I was thinking a bad batch but seeing Samsung had a good deal on with cashback and discount i imagine they sold allot between the time i arranged to send mine back to getting the replacement which was a week so i imagine they would have been separate batches although i could be wrong.

I bought it directly from the Samsung online uk store. There was a discount direct from Samsung for students/people who work in certain industries so it could be bought for £699 (£200 off), but also they were offering £150 cashback bringing total down to £549, plus cashback by going via a cashback website meant i would have had it for around £504, also they were doing trade in so people could get even more off up to another £150.00 bring cost down to £399, then people got the samsung game deal thingy, don't play games myself but people can get a Fornite theme by downloading Fornite playing 3 games then you get the free theme, kids going bonkers for the theme, people selling the theme upto £100. So people could have the phone at a bargain price.
So I got a replacement, and just as you said, the display had the same popping sound out of the box. It happens like once a day, but since there is really no substitute for this device right now (stylus + good DAC, besides all the other great features), I'll keep using it and if it gets worse contact Samsung down the line for warranty/replacement. Decided to leave this as information if some other person happens to have the same problem in the future.

I can replicate this when I clean my screen with a microfibre cloth. It happens on pretty much all of the screen. I believe I can also see some light streaks in the screen when this happens. The popping sound happens regardless of the temperature of the phone. Will have to inspect it more to see if I can spot any other issues with the screen. I got mine in the UK just over a week ago. Apart from that I think the phone has been great so far. Not sure whether to replace it.
glad i sent mine back now to be honest, personally i would send back, as you say everything else is great apart from the screen popping sound. The worry for me is the screen might cause issues further down the road, screens are the biggest issue with mobile phones and manufacturers are quick to blame user and deny warranty.

My Unlocked US Note 9 does it too. Mine mainly does it on the right side near the middle. It's not enough for me to warrant sending it back; it still works fine and I don't see any screen issues when pressing on the screen. Also I bought mine used so I'm guessing the screen was replaced. If it gets worse, I guess I'll fix it then.
