Idk if many people were getting massive buffering issues when trying to play Hulu Plus content like I was, but there's an easy (an pretty ridiculous fix). Hulu Plus streaming apparently has streaming issues on rooted devices. The fix? Temp unroot via Voodoo OTA and then play content. It works. I'm using the method myself. After you're finished restore root. Profit.
If that has been posted already I apologize. I didn't see any Hulu topics.

found this googling the issue but Im unrooted and get crazy buffering on my nexus really pissing me off.
Yeah, unrooting shouldn't do much unless it's having an issue with AdAway or a similar app. And mine isn't having issues with ads, it's buffering forever once I get to the actual content. It's an unacceptable issue, but I have multiple devices/platforms for a reason. Needs to be fixes, though. -Ara

I thought the lack of silverlight support prevented this.
Tagging along for more input.
This should be posted in the general forum though.

I know you can now get Hulu on your Cappy, haven't found a Netflix mod as of yet.
It would be nice if it worked. I use it all the time on my ps3.
Netflix already posted on there blog a few months ago that they are coming out with the same App WP7 has soon. They accidentally showed a new phone at CES that had the Netflix App on it... Just a matter of time.
Ok I'm fairly new to the Streak7, I use Flixster to stream on my Infuse that is rooted by using the temp root remover app. Now I was trying to do the same thing with my Streak7 but it does not seem to work.
I am running a Streak7 4G on the official Honeycomb ROM it is just rooted and some system apps removed that I didn't want taking up space. I would be willing to unrooted completely if I need to.
Sent from a tablet using an app.
Also everything on Flixster's website and trouble shooting guide says I should be working unless the temp root remover tool is not removing it enough for the app to work.
Any help would be appreciated

'UV' streaming Movies & Flixster??
Does anybody reading this have Flixster & "UltraViolet" streaming moives working on their Streak-7 3.2?
By the lack of response, I would say that you and I are the only two interested in trying.
I have even talked (emailed) back and forth with flixster/ultraviolet.

There are at least two to consider, maybe more. Dell Stage Remote App is one and Emit which needs software on your PC to be installed.
Either the Transformer movie or one you bought.

Yes, It seems that Google now lets you use the Movie/TV app while Rooted.
I haven't bought anything else, but Transformers plays fine on my rooted Nexus 7.
Plays fine for me.

Does anyone buy or rent new Movie/TV from Play Store?
After you bought, can you play video?
My rooted Xperia Play cannot play video, so my Nexus 7 does not root.
I'm pretty sure you can play movies /w root because of the encryption scheme in jellybean. I'm guessing that the actual videos get encrypted as app data. Root or no root, I doubt they can be copied off the device and played.
Honestly, I have a lot of respect for google in this regard....they are the only company that has figured out a way to allow users to tinker with their devices and still uphold whatever the copyright holders and developers want...don't get me wrong though, i HATE drm. Google is awesome for figuring out a solution that makes both sides happy.
I bought the season of Breaking Bad since rooting my Nexus7.No problems with purchase or playing it.Transformers plays great just as before rooting.I am stock JB except for the rooting process.
Yes you can use the Movies/TV app now.. i just bought a TV Ep the other day and it streamed just fine from the cloud.. i don't know about on my Gnex or other rooted devices
EDIT: Looks like its still not working on other devices.. just tried watching the same episode i bought on my Nexus 7 on my gnex and it kept saying " can't fetch license 901"

That's interesting. I wonder if it's actually a hardware thing after all? Well for other devices you can just use the Temp Unroot feature in the Superuser app. I've been testing this feature and it's worked flawlessly. Flixster streams Movies fine when enabled and so does Google Movies on my other devices.

Not talking about OTA Root Keeper. Temp Unroot is a separate feature in the Superuser app.

QHey there,
Today I was just roaming in my nexus' system files(running stock 4.2.2) and I ended up finding 2 videos. I ran a search in xda and on Google but nobody has ever reported them.Thought I'll just share it with the community.
They are located in
Internal memory/system/media/video
Once again if they are already known then forgive me for posting.
If you like,press thanks button.

Sample videos. These are delivered with almost all the devices. Its like the sample videos, pictures and music on newly installed Windows
yeah, I always delete them. It's only a few mb, but they take up unnecessary space.
Those videos do actually serve a purpose, they were used in Google Talk when you're in a video chat and you enable the sunset/space backdrops. Though I imagine they'll be removed in the future now that Talk has been replaced with Hangouts (which lacks the backdrop feature)
Still they are something people normally don't know.(I guess)
My Chromecast will be arriving in the mail the 28th and I cannot wait to play with the sucker. Now my question is this. Will I be able to run Fling on my Chromecast without rooting it or does it need to be rooted? Does this apply with AirCast as well?

Nope, it will work fine without root. Just don't expect miracles with Fling. It can run mp4 videos fine but MKV's and AVI's are a mess. The transcoder used is complete crap and unless you are running a beast PC and don't want 1080p video you will be ok, otherwise those file types are unplayable as is. MP4 streaming works because it doesn't need to be transcoded. It's just being played natively on the Chromecast.

Stream local unsupport content yes. Mp4 files will work fine. So will Mp3's. Just not AVI's. I think AVI's are causing the most problems actually. MKV's can get playback but it's so laggy and quality of picture is very low. AVI's just seem like they wont play. Still this device has been out for about a month now. You can't expect hacked features like this to be complete. If you buy a Chromecast now you are buying it for what it will do not what it can do.

I'm able to play avi just fine.
mpg is also good.
mkv does have problems that they're still working through.
The latest update earlier today fixed the discovery issue I was having. Now I've finally been able to play with fling and chromecast. Very satisfied and excited with how it's coming along.
