Bump for Android

Didn't see a topic on this, did a search so apologies if there is one...
"Bump" that application that the iPhone adverts seem to feature heavily is now on Android. It basically just shares your contact info with another phone by "bumping them together":

Downloaded it today and it's pretty good, free aswell.

Seems ok. My only quarrel is it uses some internet service to store/transfer your contact info(is this how the Iphone does it as well?). I'd prefer it turn on and use bluetooth instead. idk just my 2c

Anyone know if we can or if sometime in the future we'll be able to bump android to iphone?

I'm pretty sure the current android app works with the iPhone app but the new iPhone app has some new features we don't have as of yet.

That program looks disturbing and sleazy.
1) by proximity I presume? then how do you know it isn't being set off automatically? I.e. on a subway when the train lurches and someone happens to be standing next to you...
2) goes through your whole contact list and compares them using a 3rd party service? Ouch -- SERIOUS security failure here.

can't find it in market. lots of stuff has disappeared? Camera Zoom FX, Snap Photo Pro, Mobile Defense. What the heck! Where did they go?

WP7 Twitter client

Hi all
I'm arriving from Android & Blackberry phones.
Both have a Twitter client with minimum push notifications showned on top and other feature like nick suggestion, picture preview on TL etc etc
I can't find something similar on the Windows Marketplace... even if I have to pay for it but I want a full featured twitter client
I have tried the official client, birdsong, Mehdoh but nothing is a REAL 2012 twitter client
Any advice ? I ready to pay the app... but if a free one exist

Thing is Notification System is not there in Windows Phone. Its all done via live tile but it has its own limitation.
SO if you been trying to find something for notification it is not there but Live tiles Most of what you saw do support it.

Windows Phone allow app to run in background
Mehdoh is able to send notification even if locked but Mehdoh is not push so the delay is not so good for DM and mention
Maybe an app with tiles update will be great but can't find a great one...
I can't image that WindowsPhone community do not have a good Twitter client ?!?

Pretty sure there are other threads about Twitter apps...
Anyway, rowi is one of the best apps, and will get even better once 2.0 hits the Marketplace.
Carbon is also coming very soon and looks to be a great app once it hits the Marketplace.
The Marketplace is still quite young, and while there are some nice Twitter apps, I don't think there is anything just quite yet that goes above and beyond like some apps do on other platforms. There is also not a huge need for a really robust Twitter app since the phone already has a lot of Twitter functionality built in.

The official Twitter app do not managed the push notification, live tiles and nothing else... going on the mobile site would be the same

I think that what you need is Rowi, i test the 2.0 beta and i can say to you that it will be the best twitter client on WP7, trust me ;-)

Agreed. Running Rowi RC & its fabulous but you'll have to wait a little while until testing is complete & then it will be released to the Marketplace. It's worth the wait.

Facebook is pretty annoying as it is even before it takes over your phone.... however my wife would love it!

Facebook ant-social media for people with no life or middle aged people trying to re-live their youthful past, and at the same time every government agency on earth are mining you data.
can't stand the place and i hope Home is flop.

I think this app or launcher will only kill your battery life. I deinstalled fb app, cuz of to many wakelocks.
When i go via browser it also faster, so i dont need this ****.

+1 I'd rather prefer blinkfeed over facebook. At least I get to have alot more choice with it. And I maybe a facebook user but I don't want it being shove in my face everytime I open my phone lol!

doesnt hurt to try out facebook home? maybe thats the solution to the horrid facebook app!

Why hope it will be a flop? I definately won't be using it, but I'm pretty sure there's a (big) market for it.
Just probably not for most users on this forum, but there are other users out there

I, personally, will be trying it out. I don't think there is any harm in giving it a go, if it's fluid and fast I don't see the problem. The only thing I can say in regards to it not being released on the One, is possibly HTC's secrecy over the device. I highly doubt HTC would want to risk a full-device leak, though we had plenty during development probably just doesn't support 1080P, as it's not on the DNA either.

Facebook have teamed up with Qualcomm to optimize and make the launcher much more power efficient. It should use minimum RAM and minimum battery when operating on a Qualcomm device, which is the HTC One .
Stop hating people, you have a choice weather you get it or not. This is Android, not iOS.

I dont understand whats with this hate of FB apps: ok i get you dont use FB, you dont like being ''spied'' by the FBI etc but i am talking about a new development here
is hybrid between an app and a OS..it could bring improvements or not, thats to find out
also im pretty sure 90% of the one's yelling they dont use fb or will download, will at a point download it and try it....lets face it, and stop being so precious
There has been a lot of work involved in developing this hybrid and the fact that they choose HTC to deploy it, should mean we will get the best of it
of course no one is forcing you to use it or try it, but dont make everyone who is curios or wants to try it - feel like they are somewhat weird

I am very interested to try to lockscreen, because lockscreens on android are horrible. yes there are so many themes and cool looking ones.. but functionality wise, they alls suck! why iOS shows all notifications from all apps i choose and then i can just open the ones i like. on android its a mixed experience. some apps shows. some dont.. (gmail doesnt for example). Facebook seems to solved this problem by merging all notification on their homescreen and make it more useful.

I really want to try it, and like the idea, although, in the downloadable version, it will block android notifications (sms, email, apps), which i personally think is a stupid idea, so in order to get it at any realistically usable level, we'd need a port of the first's rom.

I had fb a long time and after some time I tested fb via browser. This app is still slow in comparison.

I just ordered this wonder, as it was stocked by ThePhoneHouse today.
Shipment is expected within 48 hours, but I can wait until next Friday I guess.
Anyway...I come from the Apple world, owning a 4S. So would you guys be kind and advise me on what I should and shouldnt install on the One ?
For example, must have apps that aren't preinstalled and that should absolutely be present.
I don't know much about Android, I already have a nexus 7 but I use it with very few programs installed (kindle, tunein radio, etc)
LookIng forward to read your suggestions.
Also I will answer any question you might have on this phone as soon as I receive it.

Depends really on how you want to use your phone but for me here's a list of what I recommend.
1. Adobe Photoshop touch for phones
2. ES File Explorer
3. MX Video Player
4. GSAM Battery
5. Equalizer
6. Android Tuner
7. Autodesk SketchBook Mobile
8. Power Toggles
9. Smart Tools
10. GPS Test Plus
11. Neo Reader
12. CoolReader
13. Avast Mobile Security(Not for the anti virus thingy but for your phone security)
And like I said these are my top 10 used Applications on a android phone. Depending on your usage you might find the others as bloatware.

As many of you already know, Google released Allo. I have seen several versions released but can confirm that this version works on my stock-rooted ROM:
Google Allo 1.0.006_RC18 (arm64-v8a_xxhdpi) (400-480dpi) (Android 4.1+)

When I checked 1/2hr ago it was still accepting registration. Maybe geo-location restrictions. Anyhow, thanks for update.

Anyone with feedback? It's good or another messanger?
Seems like a nice option with Google answers and hints. But you know,....
...truly can't wait to have half of my friends trying huge fonts, new emojis, stickers and whatever else ON ME.

Implementation was garbage.. If I text someone from the app it'll nag them to download it to continue the convo, the texts come from a short code number (worse), and if you don't want allo and accidentally dismiss the notification well you have to download it to get the message (waaat?!)
So nope, I'll stick to what I got

The way the media and how Google advertised it before release they made it seem like it was going to be a texting, and hangouts replacement. Now that it's out it feels like a whatsapp replacement which is already piss poor because people who adopted whatsapp have already brought everyone in that ecosystem.
I feel a bit disappointed because it seemed like it was going to be an answer to imessage. =/ I guess we'll just have to wait and see what the final product is going to be.

I have uninstalled it . IT seems to be replacement for Whats app. It's not SMS/Texting app.

try that google allo ah this is smart messenger we can chat using phone number seems like whatsapp but i don't have friend to talk with me using allo right now hahaha already try the google assistant it's quitely good, but if i try to find the near hotel they send me barcelona hotel ==" so far hahaha

i cant understand what google is trying to do with messenger, hangouts, duo and allo. Its extremely foolish instead they should have implemented all these features in the same app and should have implemented something like imessage which would have been a brilliant move and a great answer to imessage and facetime. and since google apps are cross platform it would have been great instead they are making several half baked apps.

If they ever get it to work like sms and implement it as the native messaging app on android OS it will be the biggest thing out as all the android users will have it. And somehow integrate Duo in it as well (something the other apps cant do yet)

No different from hangouts or Facebook messenger (unless you use the encrypted option)
And SMS isn't even secure, much less encrypted
