I've read around the forum and found some tips for doing this but nothing really was explained. I am able to pair the ps3 controller just fine with my kindle the issue I am having is changing the keyboard. When I try to do it goes back to amazon keyboard. Have tried moving the sixaxis apk to the folder suggested and tried using nook tools. Was hoping that someone who had found success could help me out and help me guide me on what exactly I should be doing so I can use the controller.
Update Attempted it again and finally got it working without the need for nooktools
I'm using alternate keyboards for kindle. It works on kindle fire hd and is quite inexpensive. You can buy it at google play store if you want or you can have a look outside. You know, google is your friend

I really like DJ Steve's latest build of Streakdroid. I am using version HD7-2.0RC1.5. Two of my favorite apps don't work Beyond pod and Kindle App. Hoping somebody as gotten these working. Both apps force close
Yea I really would like to get the Kindle app working, was hoping to let my wife use it for reading her books. She is using the Transformer ATM, and was wanting something smaller.
edit: it works with the moga universal driver with root and su granted
The moga pivot apk still needs obtained
Has anyone got the moga controller working on the kfhd yet?
I just received mine and am having trouble getting it paired
The moga pivot apk cannot be downloaded from the playstore on this device so if any of you could post that apk it would also help
Thanks

I got the Moga controller to work on my Kindle Fire HD, but can't get it to work with NOVA 3 using the universal driver. Has anyone else had luck with this?
On the original Kindle Fire I know that root did break this feature, but I'm wondering if that is still the case with the Kindle Fire HD (8.9" if it matters).
The only reason I want to root is to use the Google Play Store for obvious reasons, and to add a lot of the Google apps such as Google Music and Gmail.
If someone could point me in the right direction to a root method that keeps the Amazon installed OS and Amazon Instant Video as well as me being able to load the Play Store I would really really appreciate it.
I rooted my device and amazon prime streaming still worked fine

I've rooted my 8.9 and installed some of the Google as that I wanted and required being in the system/app folder. I've not lost video but I have lost my books. Once I unroot and factory reset the books return. That's the only issue I've had.

I have rooted multiple hd 8.9's and have never lost access to books or any other amazon feature on the hd.
Which root method did you use?

It will seem as though everything fails but works in the end. Make sure you pay attention to prompts. There is one point where you need to enter a couple commands on the device.
Good Luck
Root my 8.9 numerous times now, like post before said never lost video or books. The only problem is with a custom launcher you cant open the kindle reader, You have to use the home app button and open reader from stock launcher. If for some reason you do lose books just deregister then register again.
Hi all, is there a way to get the stock KF HD reading app on other devices? I am specifically interested in the ability of text to speech. The Android Kindle app doesn't support it like the HD does. Thanks.

As far as I know its reliant on the amazon framework so you cannot just use the apk from the kindle.
Its a shame I know.
Yep, gotta do the one from Play. It's good too, just too bad it doesn't have all the same options.
from my Viped out one x
Would be also really interested!
Is there anything new about it?

Install Ivona(the internal voice of the KFHD7) and CoolReader from the market. I Only have KFHD7 but, if there is any form of setting the TTS engine and voice in the Kindle fire then, CoolReader is a better option than the simplistic Amazon reader.
Is the TTS engine who reads, not the reader app, so install Ivona TTS HQ engine, your voice of preference, and enjoy....
Edit: I know, I know, also you need Calibre, a PC program to convert from Kindle format to Epub....

So i have a kindle fire hd 7 and i am trying to use the screencast app. (I do have a rooted kindle fire hd) so whenever i record it seems to work fine,
But whenever i go to watch it it has a black screen with my audio (it never shows my screen). Well i went around looking for a way to fix the problem and androidcowboy helped me out and said that i need to disable Hardware overlays. Someone please tell me how to do that from the
Kindle fire hd 7! Thank you.
I Got The Same Problem!
Ya, I Got the Same Problem. Anyone Got Any Fixes? If Then That Would Be Great

Having root does not give the developers option, it just gives you root. The developers option, for KFHD users, is attainable only through a custom rom. Whether a particular rom is screencast compatible is hit or miss.
