Hi everyone,
my Desire C shipped with T-Mobile (DE) branding. The interesting bit about this is that the build number is 1.46, which seems to be newer than everything I can find on the net. Does anyone have an idea what the changes might be or if the bump in the version number is just branding related?

Does it have capacitive buttons that light up? Is there NFC available? I would say it's the branding, but who knows if they fixed these issues.

Nope, buttons are still dark (still not sure if they actually have a backlight). Afaik I have a non-NFC version, so I can't say much about that.

I doubt there is much diff i think its just numbered differently so you know it's for a different network and not the generic one like mines 145.771.3

The info I found on another forum says that the number after the minor version shows branding (x.xx.111 = T-Mobile, x.xx.401 = unbranded). Would make more sense imo.

It's not an ota it is a leaked ruu. Ota for international is probably a week out and for us a month or so.

Knowing Sprint we won't get this update for 6 months after it is officially released internationally. Android handset manufacturers need to take a cue from Apple and tell them that they have no say in updates other than makeing sure they are compatible with the radios on a particular device for their network. If Apple can do it so can they, or does apple hold a patent on that.

Yeah because "knowing" sprint is the thing to say when they have been the fastest US carrier to release updates... Damn you sprint for being semi quick about it.

Htc evo lte got 4.1.2 way before the at&t one X. I still don't know if it got it. Sprint has been pretty good with the htc updates.

My point is that the carriers hold up updates period. Doesn't matter which carrier it is. Sprint may be faster than other carriers I won't deny that, but they still delay them for what ever reason. I am not hating on sprint alone, they are all guilty of it. I realize they need to test the software on their particular network but that doesn't always justify the length of delay. But thanks for playing.

Just a heads up I downloaded the android revolution 4.2.2 that was released in the International ONE forum and it has a sprint folder in it with sprint libs, etc so you guys may want to check it out. It also has t-mobile and at&t folder too so i guess he's for one fully compatible zip. Dev is a beast. Also the zip is about 1 GB...all the separate carrier stuff bumped it up a bit.
Try at your own risk.....
EDIT...I checked out his install script and he got the right partition numbers for flashing on the sprint one.
I wouldn't say the carriers "hold" the updates. Lots of testing is needed to insure a good product on their network.

Keep in mind several factors:
A. HTC might not even push their updates to American carriers until they're done with international versions, due to customizations carriers require here.
B. Different modems and signal bands require additional development and testing time.
C. The testing of a device is actually quite lengthy, because the last thing a carrier (and HTC) wants is some incompatibility causing interference with towers or something. This is why the FCC checks these devices btw.
My friend on T-Mobile is getting the update OTA right now as I type this... c'mon Sprint!

Can anyone with ROM making knowledge tell me if this will be useful for us, considering we use the CDMA version of the phone?

Hardware is almost exactly the same
Also. Kernel has almost nothing to do with cellular connections, it specifies how the software should interact with the hardware and nothing else
The GPE port and 4.2.2 sense 5 ports are both using kernels made for the international version

So we have to wait for HTC to release 4.2 CDMA radios, or CDMA 4.3 radios, for those roms to work? Like we have the google edition port, but data doesn't work. What do we need to get that fixed?
No we don't have to wait for that. We have all we need to get it working now. Just give it a few mire days.

And on that note, 4.3 has been released for the Google Edition phones. http://www.theverge.com/2013/8/2/4584200/galaxy-s4-and-htc-one-google-play-editions-receiving-android-4-3
I am so jelly right now. Well, at least porting it to the CMDA One shouldn't be that difficult if I'm understanding correctly.
Does any one know how to get the white dialer, settings, contacts, and many others maybe very similar to I'm not very sure but to international or it's maybe AT&T version ??

im gonna be joining your forum in a few days (long awaited) and i was wondering if there was a specific criteria i should match to ensure i get the best buy possible. I know there are usually some better screens, selected firmware that may be s off and i definatly want s off. so can i just buy any htc one or what?

The best is the international unlocked HTC One single SIM. All Ones can be S-OFF easily, unless you have certain carrier locked Ones
I'd go with one that has a camera sensor newer than December, or try to get one that has the omni sensor, to help avoid the purple tint problems in low light.
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
Or if your going to be using T-Mobile make sure to buy one from them as it has different band hardware then the ATT, Google Play or International versions.

Sprint One is not compatible with a few roms. Better to avoid CDMA
Thanks for the heads up so sprint is definitely out but couldn't I s off super Cid and then take and AT&T ruu and make it as tho from AT&T or is the hardware different or something?
????
Sprint and ATT are different hardware wise.
If you want an ATT one buy an ATT one or a Google Play edition one.

The difference is that one is released and the other one isn't.
That's the only difference for now.
And most of the time Sony doesn't include change logs, so we might never know most changes that they made
