As the title stated, when I press the power button on my Note (International version) to wake it up from sleep mode, it takes about 1-1.5 seconds before the screen turn On.
Similarly, when I press the power button when the screen is on, it takes about 0.5 second for the Note to go to sleep.
Compared this to my HTC Thunderbolt, it's instant on and off from sleep mode. Anyone have the same experiences?
My Note is rooted and have CWR.
What firmware are you on?
I am on stock firmware, hasn't flash anything custom firmware or kernel.
My Note is running on the following:
Android version: 2.3.6
Baseband : N7000UBKK1
Kernel version : 2.6.35.7-N7000ZSKK1-CL706440
Build number : GINGERBREAD.UBKK2
I just got my Note 2 days ago, hasn't been installing any heavy "system" apps other than the normal:
- ZDBox
- Zoner AntiVirus
- LBE Privacy
- Titanium Backup
However, I have far more apps than my HTC Thunderbolt and no slow wake-up like the Note.
OK.
First of all, the wake-up delay is because of the Note goes into deep sleep when it has been in standby for a while, so it takes a second before it wakes up. This is mostly ironed out in custom ROM's (check the dev section).
What you can also try that might help is to install another lockscreen app. When i was still on stock ROM i used WidgetLocker, and it felt a little quicker. If you don't want to pay for WidgetLocker, take a look at MiLocker or Go Locker in the market. They are free.
Thanks for the information. So it seems to be a well-known problem, since the Note goes into "deep" sleep as compared to other device like my HTC Thunderbolt.
I will try to "locker" app you mentioned and will post back.
Oh yes, it's a well knows problem around here But well.. that's just the way it is. Try not to get annoyed by it. You'll get used to it after a while.
I have the the same problem but have learned to live with it.

Thanks for the replies, all. At least I know its not my Note having hardware issues.
Hopefully ICS fix this problem.
I have same problem on 2.3.6, but on 4.0.3 it's ok!

Just noted that I have maybe a defective screen (or GPU?).
Sometimes when using apps like XDA, browsing or apps with a lot of white background I noticed black lines (1pixel width).
When you holding in portrait mode their appear on the bottom side of he screen, and are horizontal. Always very fast, they appear and then go very fast. Sometimes its only one horizontal line, sometimes two.
When you hold in landscape mode they appear on the whole screen (vertical lines). It happened to me know two times while typing this post.
I'm full stock, not rooted. I have the power plug on and charging, maybe some power oscillation? Will see if happens without charger.

I thought I was going crazy when I noticed this! I legitimately see black lines down the screen for about a second just slightly out of my peripheral, and then they're gone.
Happens on xda and chrome, it's a known problem. Some people say other kernels help get rid of it. I think it's just a software bug.

Same issue here.

Haven't noticed that issue on my side

OK good I Thought I was going crazy. Other then that perfect nexus

I also noticed these kind of lines. It happened while watching some videos on YouTube. Also on XDA, portrait mode, on the upper side of the screen. Anyone has a software solution for this? I am just afraid not to get some permanent lines like this.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
So... seems like that the problem appears for me only when I'm charging.
Anyone can confirm that the lines appears without charger plugged in?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium HD app
Yes, the lines appear without charging.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Happens to my Nexus 7 also. They appear very briefly, like for half a second. Usually in the bottom half of the screen (I can't even tell if it appears at the same spot - it appears so briefly, but I do think I have seen it once or twice in the upper half). I have seen it on xda app, Tapatalk app, and Chrome blank page. I think I may have seen it on the home screen also.
On my Tapatalk app I turned the background to dark gray and font to white, but I have still seen it 1-2 times, so it doesn't just happen with white backgrounds.
Don't know if its a software issue and can be fixed with updates or should I get it exchanged? It will be hard to make the store understand what the problem is since it is quite rare, happens to me only a couple of times a day or so (although I have been playing Angry Birds extensively recently to see if it app specific or not, and I have yet to see on Angry Birds - I actually have not seen it anywhere for the last couple of days since I started playing AB).
I only get them in the Tapatalk app. And it doesn't happen often enough to be annoying so I don't really care.
Here here!!
Had them on Tapatalk, dolphin browser and on Plume to name a few. Like others said though, they ain't frequent tto become a PITA but are still noticeable.

I swear these threads are going to appear every week talking about the same problems that have already been discussed many times over.
As said many times before, this is a common issue with tegra 3. The one x line flickering was fixed with an update.
Or you can download a custom kernel with an increased panel clock rate and be happy.
So anybody else have screen raise on the left or is it just me???? just messing.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
Saw it on Angry Birds too. So its just not on xda or Tapatalk apps.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
A custom kernel does fix it. I had this problem until I flashed the motley kernel and it went away. Then I when I went to the paranoid android ROM I didn't know at the time but it changed my kernel back to stock... I didn't realize it had changed until I noticed the lines again. So far I have used the Trinity kernel and motely's and both have solved the screen tearing problem. If you don't want to flash a custom kernel I'm sure google will fix it in a future update. Thankfully its not a hardware problem.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Really happy that the problem can be fixed with a software update.

Screen tearing
Different from the backlight flicker, known issue, please vote :good:
I have this as well well as screen moving issue I'm going to buy a 16 gb version and send this back for refund. Hope they will do that I really don't need two Nexus 7 tablets

Yep, I've seen it happen with the xda app, and it looks like it flickers a line for a second and goes away.
i have this as well, a dark horizontal line appears in a flash of second at random time and place, i thot it is the flicker issue ppl talked about?
but i dont have the whole screen flicker tho i have tried google map zooming or panning with gps on and weak wifi signal and auto brightness off and 15%

What can I do to speed up the camera launch speed. It takes around 5 seconds to launch which is terrible. And please don't suggest I use a 3rd party app.

Sad to say but theres nothing you can do to fix that,,,,
But there is another way to capture photos fast by just clicking the volume down button even if the acree is turned off. , goto the android development section and look for the tiopic called, ( camera mod fast capture enable)

Or just try to update last firmware. There this problem is solved.

There is currently no fix for this issue, but I'm sure future updates will fix it.
BUT: There is a mod in the mod section that allows you to quickly capture images with volume up

I'm not running the latest firmware and and I'm not sure if the mod will work. A lot if people are reporting the camera app disappearing and that's a risk I'm not willing to take. Thanks for the suggestion anyway.

Just prompted an update now. Hopefully that's the one.
Can I update with a custom recovery using pc companion? I'm also rooted.
Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk 2
Update: received an update and the camera is much faster at launching now. Not the fastest but definitely an improvement.
However, I lost root and my custom recovery. Oh well. The sacrifice was worth it.

If you use a launcher like Nova you could use this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=40084488. It gives a bit faster startup, but only in Superior auto.

The update seemed to have improved the camera boot up speed. But thanks for the tip.
I've also realised that the update made my navigation and status bar black by default. =D

It's kind of strange, it was working last week. So when the screen is off, you press the power button and the lockscreen comes up. If you swipe up on one of the icons at the bottom for the app shortcuts, it will go straight to the application. Or, at least it used to. Now it just unlocks my phone. Anyone else have this issue?
Thanks ahead of time,

No prob here.
I'm on TrickDroid 5.6.0
I first had it happen to me on ARHD, now on stock with latest update.

This happens when you have a accessibility service activated. Check in settings and accessibility. If anything is enabled it breaks the lock screen.
There is a fix here if you are rooted and running a deodexed rom

Whenever I try to turn on my screen, it takes a second or two to turn on. It seems like it sleeps and then wakes up.
I want to know if there's a fix for it. I'm on MJ5 firmware if that matters.
I have the same issue! I tried factory reset 3 times but still the same...... The weird thing is its not all the time.... I have also had the issue of no screen timeout but rebooting fixes that issue! When I was on ml1 DE LA Vega root I had none of these issue! I should have stayed on that.......

With the note 2 I had always heard the lag was related the the exynos going into such a deep sleep that it had to literally wake everything back up. Obviously that claim was bull**** lol

My screen wakes up instantly. Are you using your home button to wake the screen? If so, the problem is S-Voice. The solution is to disable "use home button to launch s-voice". To do this, double tap the home button/menu button/settings/disable home button.
