A lot of these case brands I have absolutely no experience with. And of course, the company's claims for how durable their cases are can be exaggerated or even the opposite. Here's my situation: I am extremely active and I take my electronics on some pretty hardcore adventures. I don't care how much it costs, or how thick it is. I want the most durable SGN2 case on the market, any suggestions?

That's probably the best one I can think of, but I really want to get some peoples' real world experiences with these cases. Would the ballistic SG compare at all? I think that the Trident Kraken (ams) would be the largest competitor to the defender, but sadly there isn't one for the 2 and probably won't ever be. Any more opinions or thoughts?
At the moment it looks like the Otterbox Defender is the most durable case out there so far, the Ballistic SG is probably next. If Ballistic ever did a Hard Core for the Note 2, it would be the clear cut winner without a question.

i had a ballistic hardcore case for my old motorola atrix. seriously wish they made one for my note 1 and my new note 2. that thing was awesome. even without the soft silicone shell, i dropped it from a roof onto bricks accidentally and it survived without any damage to the device itself.
hopefully there will be another kraken, i quite liked the kraken note 1 case.
Trident has said there are no plans to make a Kraken.
The Otterbox still isn't out yet (I've only seen 1 person with it actually in hand, in the otterbox review thread), but I have had one on my iPhone 4, Infuse 4G, GS2, and Galaxy Nexus, and they have never disappointed. I've dropped it on a concrete floor where I work and the phone was completely unharmed, as was the case.
i think ROCK brand case for N7100 is very Durable, i have one flip leather case and one hard case, they are all very durable for the phone, protect perfectly.
But if you ask one you which one is more durable, i will choose the hard one, which is with my love color dark grey and have a smooth sides.. durable and cool.

I normally go Otterbox defender...really really great cases and they offer warranty and send replacements when needed (I'm sure Ballistic does too...could be wrong). But I also had a Ballistic Hardcore case and that thing was bad ass! Too bad they don't always make a hardcore case for their phones. I really dont like the SG series nor the maxx series. I'm like you OP...I don't care about the extra bulk as long as my phone is protected

Yeah they said no plans to make the HC case for this phone. Seems like OtterBox is the only one willing to make their rugged case for this phone.

Yeah it does stink a little. I guess for now I'm going with the defender, but if a better case comes out I might get that depending on price and how much better it is. Like I'm not gonna spend more than $100 for 2 cases that are just about equally rugged. I just want to be confident enough to take my note on camping trips and such. I like the screen protector on the defender line (my friend has one for his iphone and I'm guessing that the quality will be the same) because it doesn't feel tacky or plasticy. I also kinda want something that's at least somewhat waterproof like the lifeproof line, as I am a competitive swimmer and a lifeguard. If lifeproof is making one for the s3, what do you think our chances are for a n2 case?
Yeah a lot of people have been hounding trident to make the kraken case, but no telling if they will or not...they still stick to saying they don't plan to.
At this moment in time, the defender is your best option. And I've read a few stores may have it online. Otter still lists it as "coming soon."
And just to be sarcastic, may I suggest something like this for you?

Well this really sucks. Looks like the defender won't be available for a while now in America. Sad to say the same for the commuter. It's a damn shame because I really need a great case before I go on a huge trip the day after Christmas. What do you think my chances are?

That's a nice looking case, but I contacted them and they have no stock atm. They're expecting them to be in stock by the end of the month.
Also...they don't ship to eu and their eu shop doesn't list the galaxy tab case at all...damn...it does look nice..!
I received my Samsung case yesterday and it has already been binned. An absolutely awful product. The bottom band 1/3 covered the capacitance buttons making the Tab very difficult to use. A complete waste of £18.99!
Looking on the internet reveals that all the better cases seem leave the buttons completely unobstructed, it's almost as if the manufacturers took a few minutes to actually look at and think about the product they were actually designing the case for.
It is pretty odd and more than a little annoying that Samsung endorse this rubbish as an 'official' case and secondly didn't include any kind of cover for a premium £500 device in the box.
That said I really can't rate the Tab highly enough, truly brilliant device. I never was sold on the ipad due its massive size/weight (may as well carry a laptop) and nothing on this earth would force me back to the hell of itunes.....
I have that same case and love it. Its actually cheaper at verizon stores for $39.99 and even cheaper if you have employee discount through your employer.

I've got the schoshe case also, picked it up today with my new tab and so far so good. The case is rather expensive at 49.99 from the tmobile store however it seems like it's high quality, leaves the tab 100% functional, and has a couple different angles for landscape view when you want to prop it up.
Wish the Schosche case as available in Canada. Let's see if I can find one in South Jersey and have it shipped to my dads.
Piel Frama also has their Tab case. Expensive and takes 15 days to deliver.

The one on Broadway and Waverly Place carries one and an Incipio case as well. I like the one from Verizon Wireless more though. It's a grainier leather.
this one: http://www.scosche.com/products/sfID1/337/sfID2/370/productID/2054
seems to be the same type of case and it says it's only leather texture. That would explain the odd chemical smell mine has been giving off since I got it. Still a nice case though.
I'm thinking of getting Zenus case, then I changed my mind when I saw T-Prop standing case, and I think I might get that one instead. Since I'm still new, can't post a link yet..

Thanks for your reply. I picked up one from the T Mobile store on 36th street and 8th avenue. This is a very nice case indeed.
Here's my Incipio case that i bought from tmobile store for $49. I love this case a lot as it looks good on my tab and protects it at the same time. It's similar to the otterbox defender case with dual layer protection a rubber inner layer with a hard plastic shell on the top it even has a stand. This model is not listed on their website yet, grab one on your local tmobile store and you wont be dissapointed.

Bobj is making a case for the N7....gumdrop hasn't got back to me yet...but you could also get a Pelican case
http://www.amazon.com/Pelican-Products-HardBack-Computer-1055-003-110/dp/B006FR1KHE/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pdT1_S_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=3JC96WXZQ2TF3&coliid=I21HLXYPCZ9975
I plan on getting whichever rugged case company releases one first and then also getting the pelican for some added protection. In another thread (don't remember which one, but it's on here) someone showed the N7 in the Pelican case linked above and it would practically be a perfect fit with a rugged case on it.
Otterbox and other companies get umpty million emails a day about this obscure phone or that obscure tablet, they always say 'no plans' until they actually design one so just keep watching.
The Pelican case is good but you have to take the device out of it to use it.

I think the real question is why on Earth people keep buying Otterbox cases?
The "protection" they offer is laughable, their products incredibly bulky (and cheaply made).
Trident, Pelican, or bust when it comes to actually protecting your devices. Otterbox is dreadful.

I have to disagree with you, I have had an Otterbox case on my iPhone since it was new. I have dropped it many times with never a scratch on the phone. I once dropped it out the car window when I was moving in a parking lot, backed up and got it with never a scratch. Without the Otterbox case the phone would have been history a week after I got it. The Otterbox case does not interfere with the use of the phone and still offers maximum protection.

Disagree also. Every device I have had gets an Otterbox (my current is a T-Mobile G2). They have been dropped, kicked, and rolled around, but everything is still in pristine condition. Otterbox cases have one job, and for my devices they have never failed.
And the button covers kick ass.
I have owned a outter box cummuter case (the hinner one) for about six months now and it has saved me from cracking my cell in half a ton of times.
I can't believe so many people are so terrible with their phones?
Would you drop an expensive watch? No? Respect your valuables. I never drop my phone.
That being said, I have an Otterbox Commuter case for my HTC Desire HD.. I bought it before I realized that the cell case is made out of thick aluminum and the fact that it has a Corning Gorilla Glass screen.. nothing that needs protecting there! So its relegated to protecting it on hikes and other tougher than normal duty, otherwise it feels like a brick in my pocket.
They have a really nice lifetime warranty on these, too.

1. This comparison makes no sense. A watch is attached to your arm not something that you handle constantly throughout the day.
2. People don't drop their phone on purpose. Accidents happen and a case is well worth is if it does. Do you tell people that have car insurance that they are terrible to their car?

Gorilla glass is very easy to break, it's great at scratch prevention but is brittle (more so than other glass) shatters easily when hit edge on and it does not flex well.
I would love to see Griffin make a survivor case for us.....I'd put more trust in this than an otterbox....

Seidio has done it again! Seidio is well known for their line of high quality cases.
They are well known for their Surface and Covert cases. They also just released the OBEX system that protects the phone from water, dust, snow, sand, mud and other liquids.
What we are reviewing today is their Active Combo with Metal Kickstand. It's the perfect case for active lifestyles without adding unnecessary bulk while maintaining maximum protection. It's dual-layered with an inside layer of polymer for grip and an outer hard shell for impact protection.

The rubber like polymer does not attract as much dust as the lower end cases. This is a true premium feature I have always favored from Seidio. The hard shell also had their signature rubberized feel. Both items of the dual-layer system have a premium feel and are soft to the touch.
The kickstand has a little magnet that holds it in. The finish is great and stable. It's a solid case.
The spring holster is the holster we've all come to know and love. They carried over the rugged design with all their holsters. It features excellent retention and will not snap on you like other holsters. It features an adjustable swivel clip that will rotate a fluid 360 degrees.
The Seidio Active Combo is only $54.95.
The Seidio Active Case is available as a stand alone product for $34.95.
The Seidio Active Holster is available separately for $29.95.
Conclusion:
Highly recommended. Another Seidio product that will gain much popularity due to quality and function.
I have yet to be let down by Seidio's products as they have always been in my top 3 case companies. I always wait for Seidio to offer me a solution.
I will also be working on a video review for this case. Keep an eye out for it. I'll post a link when it's finished.
Hit thanks if you got something from this review! Means I'm doing something right and I'll keep doing them.
What is the overall fit, and finish of the combo? Any gaps, or uneven lines?
Been waiting for a review of one of these! Thanks

Fit and finish is great. I've personally never had an issue with the Seidio Actives. Had all the different colors on my Evo, Epic and 3D. Might just grab one for the S3 now. It's a snug fit and the cuts are nice and even. There is no play or any gaps.

Great review, Much appreciated. I'm hoping that for your video review, you could focus on things like the durability of the stand, strength of the magnet that holds it in, lint attracting ability of the rubber inside layer, and general thickness/size comparison.

No. Otterbox cases are not waterproof, they are water resistant.
They are not dust proof or sealed into the case. Dust infiltrates the phone inside the case. OBEX is a sealed solution. The Commuter is comparable to the Active.
The Defender to the Covert. I feel the Covert is far superior as it's a 3 layer design and absorbs more shock than any Otterbox.
Thanks for your thoughtful insight. It was truly a game changer.
I want to order one but the shipping prices to the Netherlands are ridiculous man. 28 frigging dollars!
Even with the current exchange rates, that price is just insane adding up to the case itself .
Is it really worth it?
I say yes, just because I don't like TPU cases. You don't have to go through the case being so tight fitting that it takes the battery cover off when you remove the case.
All of mine have held up. The polymer never wore out or got sticky. Maybe get a local seller to get a hold of them? Maybe someone here can get one and ship it to you.
Thank you for posting a review on this. I'm waiting to see what other cases get released from the name brand manufacturers and hopefully we will see some sales to come over the next month or two.
Could you possibly take a picture with the phone out of the case along with the case laying beside the phone to see how much bulk/thickness is added with the case?
Thank you much.
I'm interested in just the case.Is it ideal for pocket carry or does it add too much bulk?
Excellent time for the review! I am planning to place an order and yes, I am thankful for your review!

I haven't noticed anything yet.
Nice Review and Pics. The active combo and the surface combo are now available on Android Central at a pretty good discount compared with Seidio's website. Might save you a few bucks if you are interested.
What are the advantages of that case over something like this
http://www.ebay.com/itm/For-SAMSUNG...399354?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item416e4cc5ba
And its for the fraction of that price

It adds 2mm. You shouldn't notice it. With the size of the Note, if you do notice it you need a smaller phone. Lol.

What I've learned with anything I buy, buy the tried and true the first time around. You'll buy that one, then replace it with a nicer one. I've been through this with every phone, car and personal items I buy. The stand just looks horrible. It's a cheap shortcut to designing a stand system.
The holster is hard to use. Looks just like the one in store. I always end up using 2 hands. Seidio has a much stronger clip system.
Looking for a case with a kickstand for the Galaxy Note 2. Anyone know of such? So far the only one I've been able to turn up here is for the original Galaxy Note.
Thanks for any suggestions.
Verizon sells a case with kickstand for the Note 2.
Only downside is it does not cover the top or bottom of the phone.

Not according to the Trident site.

Just got this in. It's pretty darn good for only $13. If you don't want the holster the case can be found for cheaper.

there are TONS of cases with kickstands for this phone; check amazon and ebay, and you will see them all
Get this. http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewitem?itemId=380562657696&index=0&nav=SEARCH&nid=51001118142
I have the pink one. Looks badass. Kickstand works great.

That's the same one I posted. If you wanted amazon prime shipping its $13, otherwise it's hard to beat $6.

It's a cheap case that will protect your phone, but the quality of inner silicone shell is not that great. It's too stretchy and will pull around the sides, and it gets worth with time especially at the bottom where micro-usb connector is. Also because silicone is soft, buttons will be too easy to press accidentally. But what the heck, for this price - its a workable Seidio Active knock-off with a kickstand that won't make your phone as wobbly in landscape as Active Plus, you can put your finger through the kickstand opening as sort of a flygrip handle.
The best case ever. No extra bulk and feels good to the touch, a hard case but with a soft touch feel, comes with a kickstand too. Bought one for the wife's too. I usually dont use cases but this one is a keeper . Go try it edit- Comes with a belt clip too

Definitely a good deal since you save $20 when you buy this BB PT case which is Seidio Surface rebranded case/holster ($55 for the original one from Seidio)

originally bought 2 cheap case/holsters one of which is the cheap 3 part listed in the OP. First one broke, second(OP) as noted the soft rubber part doesn't fit well and it's too tight in the holster. Finally broke down today ad bought this one from BB. There is no comparison in quality, Everything on this case is worth the money.
For my past phones I've bought the Verizon kickstand holster case combos and I've loved them, but VZW didn't make one for the note2 and the cheap online ripoffs are crap. Spend the money, your Note 2 will thank you.
Got this one for $6 shipped on amazon, cut the volume side out to work with my OEM flip cover.

More pics in the post a pic of your case thread, and mybat jolt thread. Kickstand hinge and latch is a tad flimsy but I haven't had any issues yet, and I dropped my phone 42' from the 3rd floor roof of a house, landed face down on gnarly concrete and not a scratch. Luckily the flip cover flipped closed or the uneven concrete probably would have been able to make contact with the glass, which would have been a disaster.
I like to break stuff!

I must agree with you. The belt holster has to be my most favorite part of it. High quality case. Very sturdy and makes me look like a fly kinda guy..

You guys should check out a full review of Seidio CONVERT combo I just posted here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2177450
It essentially Seidio SURFACE/BB Platinum with an extra layer of protection on top of it. Turn your original SURFACE into a new rugged case. But as a side comment, Surface is PITA to take off the phone lol!!!

Hey Guys,
I have decided to just jump the gun and buy the Tech 21 D3O impact shell from the T-Mobile store. The case ended up be $10 and something cents. I bought it at the store and they gave me a 30% discount for checking into Foursquare otherwise the price of the case is $16.99 not including tax. The case can be purchased online at: http://www.t-mobile.com/accessories/lg-g2-d3o-impact-shell-smoke.html.
I currently own 2 cases including the case I have. I have this case and the Spigen Slim Armour. I love both of the cases but I do prefer this Tech 21 case. Both cases are well built and will definitely survive a fall. I have not dropped the case, but I feel like the technology behind the case will definitely protect it from a fall. I currently have the xtremeguard screen protector on the phone and the case does push the screen protector up, but the lip of the case covers more of the screen than the Spigen case so it doesn't have the problem as often. The case has an awesome feel to it. It has a matte feel and offers more grip that the Spigen. The case is also rounded so it doesn't feel like it is cutting into your hand. I personally bought the smoke version, but there is a purple version available. The case looks awesome with the orange bands going around the circumferance of the phone while the rest of the smoke color of the case allows you to see through the back to see the G2 symbol. I do own the AT&T D800 version and it has the cut out for the 2nd microphone on the back. The case feels like TPU with D3O that surround the phone.
Hopefully this everyone. If you are looking for a new case, IMHO this is a case to consider.
Here are the pictures that I was going to post.

Thanks for the review. I have thought about this case. How would you compare it to a tpu case. Looks like one except for the orange band which seems to be the D30 technology.
Also how thick and bulky is it in comparison to a tpu case.

It honestly feels like a TPU case with the D3O tech like you were saying. I don't own a TPU case for the G2 but I have had TPU cases in the past and this stuff feels a little more flexible but it still maintains its shape when it is on the phone. The case fits nicely and it looks good as well. The case actually doesn't add too much bulk. It keeps the shape of the phone and is slightly thicker than without a case. I feel like it is definitely not as "bulky" as the Spigen case as well. :good:

I also had the Spigen Slim Armour as my first case for the G2. But I also got the Tech 21 case, and although I still like the Slim Armour case, the Tech 21 is better for me as the edges are more rounded and it's a little less bulky than the Slim Armour.
I keep my college ID card in the back of my current phone case, so I like cases that are easy to take on and off. Is this one easy to take on and off?

The case is easy to take off. But you might run into the problem of the case not fitting properly. The case is pretty tight on the phone, so the case might not be happy with you. I can try it out and see if I can get a picture for you.

Here are the pictures. The case is a little funky after the id is put in. It is definitely not meant to be there but it could potentially work. I put my school id and it is the side and thickness of a credit card. Hopefully this and the pictures help.

Thanks, I really appreciate it. Could you tell me how easy it is to take the card in and out of the case? Does the case come off easily without being dangerously loose?

I would say that the case is a little harder to take off. The card is also pretty snug in there. The case also barely hangs on too. The case definitely adds space between the case and phone.

Ya. I know what you mean. I drove 30 mins to get mine. But I don't use it too often because it pushes my screen protector up. But I still use it every once in a while.
