HTC on X + , i say ! Go for it
I would take galaxy S3
They are equal in terms of hardware (well... similar) but other than touchwiz being ugly for some people, it's packing some realy helpful features:
-smart stay, smartphone, smart omfgwtfbbq.
-compatibility with various controlers (usb otg)
-better battery life + removable battery (and you can buy an extension with a case)
-MOAR STORAGE<- sd card up to 64gb
but i own an Ace,,, why do you even ask here? ;P
Go with the S3! Would be a way better choice! Cause of the extra storage!
SGS III i think...
HTC Ui is always difficult to work with...
Even when you're using custom roms

If you prefer the design of the phone, choose HTC One X. But if you want better perfomance, go with Samsung Galaxy SIII
what are you talking about here?
i am in the same situation now. to chose from s3 and one x plus.
BUT
performance: s3 has quad core 1,4ghz, htc has quad core tegra 3 1m7ghz. here htc is faster.
both have same amount of ram.
both have the same 2100 battery but htc has a better battery life score on gsmarena.
are you guys sure you know what you are comparing here or are you comparing s3 with htc one x (non plus)
i am to decide these days so please reply.
s3
I think you should bye S3, It's very well supported by developers and Samsung Mobile.
give me more reasons to buy s3 tomorrow iwill place the order, and i am still not sure what to buy.
Samsung over htc:
better community support,
card slot ?!?!?! only 16gb stock(cheapest version)
maybe better app support (can anyone confirm this?)
htc over samsung
design, build quality,
extra headphones(urbeats by dre - i am using my 5 years old sennheiser cx-300)
64gb storage
smaller in size (a few mm do matter when you want to wrap it around a small arm like mine)
better hardware (1,7ghz vs 1,4ghz) but the same amount of ram
for me, they cost the same.
I would go for the s3. I think that touchwiz is not the best looking skin, but sense realy sux. Not to mention s3 got the note 2 suite with some cool features. Go for the s3!
Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda app-developers app
The one x+ had better build quality and better headphones for sure, but that is pretty much the only fields in which it beats the S3. You were talking about 64 GB of storage on the one x+, but the s3 has 32 GB internal AND an SD card slot.
So, using multiple cards, you potentially have unlimited storage!
The S3 has a faster processor, has same ram and is about to get updated to jellybean in about 2-3 months maximum.
Plus touchwiz isn't as bad as sense.
Also, S3 has a huge developing community. So you have new ROMs coming ever week! And kernels, themes and other great stuff.
Seriously, go for the S3. It's the only 'sense'ible choice.
now i bought the s3.
there could not be any crappier headphones than the ones included, so i must buy myself also a pair of headphones.
i hope it will raise to the votes received here.
Well.. I got the s3, UI pretty Damon awesome and gaming is awesome benchmark score of 5012

S3.
1. It's samsung. Easily rooted and a lot of development for it.
2. Removable battery + SD card. (Even if you don't use either, they can be pretty handy.)
3. It's an S3. Come on dude. Why do you even ask?

S3 has a Exynos 4412 Quad chipset. Now, Exynos usually has amazing performance but most developers doesn't like to develop for it because of various reasons
HTC ONE X+ has a NVIDIA Tegra 3 AP37 chipset ...Now, I am not a big fan of Tegra 3..Just because it has a higher clock speed doesn't mean that it is the fastest phone out there
In fact, the best processor in the market right now is the Snapdragon S4 Pro..It simply is the best right now.It is also the processor that comes with the N4
S3 vs One X+:
Both will stand toe to toe against each other, but I think S3 has a small advantage over here with its plethora of innovative features such as Smart Stay and Direct Call.
This is just my opinion anyway

Yes, good idea like what I want to say
I must say I am not that impressed by this. Coming from i9000 cm9.1 I was expecting a lot more. Stock 4.1.1 is very laggy when unlocking. Each action must be done a few times to become fluent. I am very disappointed in the software development from Samsung.
I just installed cm10.1 to get a little more accurate responsiveness.
I really thought quad core was going to make a big difference but... Meh...

You do realize you're only going to get biased answers here, right?
I went for the Note because it has a bigger screen, a stylus, a replaceable battery and an sdcard slot.
Likewise...mainly for the screen size... I mean I have friends who all have 4.6 in down and it looks absolutely normal from spectator's, I on the other hand love the attention - yrs spec wise HTC one x does outweigh the phablet - you can compare this to apple laptops vs Sony, HP... the Macs have the lower specs overall yet people buy it for its unique looks and simplicity...(probably why the upcoming windows 8 look so much simpler than W7)
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA
It pretty much come down to this
GNote: Battery life and huge beautiful screen
One X: Quad-core
I don't think quad is needed as of now, so I would pick the GNote
Another "me-too" phone with higher-end specs (One X) vs. a genuinely unique, niche device (phablet with Wacom digitizer; N7000).
Seems like two different markets.
the main improvements over the note come from the one x's quad core CPU. if you compare them both in GPU benchmarks at the same ressy, they both perform quite similarly. when nvidia announced that the tegra3 would be 3x faster... they were comparing it to the tegra2.
so the main improvement will be in web browsing (android browser supports quads), smoother interface, and improvements in apps that support multicores (very few do aside from benches).
the only thing that peeves me about the one x is that it doesnt have a microsd slot, but im sure i can work around that with a usb on the go adapter since the htc one x supposedly has an mhl port.
at the moment, im just waiting for the other quad core phones to launch to see if there are any gems. the LG 4X interests me with its expandable storage (support for 64gb microSD), but it doesnt support the 850mhz band on 3G which would be bad for me since vodafone AU has a better 850mhz network than it does with its 900mhz network. theres also the galaxy s3 (same mali gpu but with quad core, so should perform on par with tegra3) and theres a fujitsu tegra 3 phone that has a 13.1mp camera and expandable storage coming soon as well, which should be quiet interesting.
i generally buy my phones outright... so when theres competition, theres a price drop, and thats a win for everyone!
Im gona put my Note in the drawer until ICS and probably get an One X just because i wanna surf the web from its stock web browser flawlessly in contrast to Note's choppy stock browser that loses its hardware acceleration all the time which is a big let down for me.

quadcore better than dual core.

True! Although i'd get smooth browsing by flashing one of the custom ics roms available in the dev section, i wont have a complete and stable rom with all the features that samsung is going to include in the final ics rom! So i'll be patient rather than flash ics just to see 4.0.3 under Android Version..

Galaxy Note
I was able to play with a demo unit of the HTC One X and I have to be frank after having used the Galaxy Note since November the screen size and quality has just become so familiar that holding anything smaller just feels odd. I might be biased to the Galaxy Note for now as there doesn't seem to be any apps that utilize all four cores and any gaming I might do would be on a PS Vita or Nintendo DS.

Ok first off, flamers sod off!
I'm considering getting a sammy soon, so I wanna get a general consensus on what would be the preferred weapon of choice, strictly for opinions of course, below are some of the points I've considered, hopefully other people can bring to light some facts about these devices that I'm not aware of that might help me choose with a better piece of mind....
S2 - countless accessories, numerous roms and proven track record
S3 - better hardware, possibility of extremely great support but yet to be proven track record, questionable battery life
Note - honestly I don't know much abt daily use of this phone as the people ard me that use this phone are old folks who think that custom roms and enhancements are against laws or something
Your opinions would be greatly appreciated.
Oh why I asked this here, cos I wanted a neutral standpoint, if I were to ask in the individual forums, their users would most definately wax lyrical about their current device and make the opinions biased in a way....
Thanks in advance!
just sayin....
Galaxy Note 2 will be anounced soon

But gnex got no removable SD right?
just sayin....
go for the S3. ROMs will start pouring in by the time u'll get enough of Touchwiz.
Future Proof hardware (atleast for next 4 years), a killer 720p HD screen (this is the prima facie requirement for me when am buying a cell), wayyyy good specs. the Jump from S1 to S2 was not as big (or monumentous) as it is from the S2 to the S3. and the small perks of the cell make you actually feel special.
go for the S3. S2 and Gnote are not even a comparison. (don't get me wrong, they are just great devices, but are dwarfed when compared the the mammoth s3).
Although, note the Screen has pentile tech (that means u'll roughy he handling about 30% less subpixels than other 720p screens like the One X or the Xperia S, but i feel the punchy colors, out of the world contrast and viewing angles more than makes up for it)
at the end, it's your decision. if i were you, and had to choose from these 3, 110 times out of 100 i would have gone for the s3.

I also would stick to the Gnex - always latest & greatest software is priceless. BTW there are rumors about a "pimped" version of it, called GT-I9260, which could have a SD slot according to graphics here (in German) http://stadt-bremerhaven.de/galaxy-nexus-verbessert-samsung-das-google-smartphone/ which was taken from sammobile.com
Is nexus 4 close to or better than the galaxy s3. if so what is the reason i know it has wirless charging but other than that what else can it do better?
Galaxy s3 also has wireless charging. Both are good phones. The nexus 4 has a better processor, father updates, etc. The gs3 on the other hand has 4glte, an arguably better camera, and if you're a contract guy you have to get it.
Can't go wrong with either.
Also there is already forums for this I'm pretty sure...
My Nexus 10 is better than your tablet. Hah.
Hi,
I had the S III for about 6 months and I have the Nexus since 1 week (before I had a Samsung Galaxy Nexus).
In short Nexus... it's Google: updates, no bloat (no crappy overlay like Touchwiz) pure Android, it's a Qualcomm / Adreno hardware (but Samusng RAM LOL), like the Samsung Galaxy Nexus (TI-> Texas Instrument), more source etc, take a look in the GS III forum about Exynos source's... you'll be disapointed.
It mainly depends of your needs, pure Android experience, with a lot of new ROM with diferent features, kernel, sources ("stock Android", AOSP, CM, a mix, etc...) go the Nexus Line...:good:
If you want multiwindow, pop-up play, smart-stay buit-in and a Samsung device with, in fact good hardware, go for Samsung. But you'll stay ... "sur ta faim" (sorry )...
If you want all the "after market" features, I mean devs , go the Nexus! I owned a Galaxy Nexus then a S III... Back to the Nexus :silly::fingers-crossed::laugh::laugh:
And yes there are thread here and in the S III forum about comparison... After that bigger screen for the S III (not that much) but in hight light like sun it's not terrible, diferent design, 4g / LTE (it depends of your country), extanted storage, etc... and wirless charging for both like b4silver said.
Hard choice... give the Nexus 4 a try not the S III for now...
There's already a thread for this... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2021559
I just traded my galaxy s3 for a Nexus 4. The camera on the s3 ALOT better. The nexus 4 camera isn't bad though. On custom Roms the s3 battery sucked. Nexus 4 wins in this department. I hatred touch wiz on the s3. This was the main reason I switched to the nexus 4. I can also see a big difference in the snappiness of android on 4 cores on the nexus compared to the two on the s3.

I'd have to recommend the Nexus 4 for the price, buying the S3 now is like buying an iPhone in the summer, if you don't go with the Nexus, wait for the S4.

I love my nexus 4. I had the s3 and I like the build quality of the s3 better. The nexus 4 looks good but the back cover is horrible. Its the noisiest cover of any phone I've ever used, well I had the lg optimus g and it was the same way. Its so load I actually woke my wife from her slumber while handling the phone. I've managed to take some of the creakiness out by ree removing the back cover and putting tape in the spots that are mushy. Other than the back cover being terrible, I like the nexus 4 better. Hopefully when my bumper comes I won't notice the creaking anymore.
Some of you will think I'm abusing my phone but I'm not. Before I put the tape on the inside edges, just grabbing the phone to pull it out of my pocket I could hear it creaking, it was driving me crazy.

SDCard
Replacable battery
better camera
S2 cons:
Bloatware
cheap feel
expensive
slow(ish) update cycles (not as bad as some thou)
Nexus4 Pros:
Stock Android, more consistent.
VERY affordable, great price performance
Photosphere
prompt updates
Great build quality
Great looks
Smaller than S3 but decent size display still
Better display.
Nexus4 Cons:
Glass back makes it feel slippery
Fragile, so don't drop
No SD Card

You should never compare camera's picture quality based off the resolution specs... I mean we had 8mp cameras on many phones and even digital cameras before but they're all different... You can't just say they both have 1080p so it's equal. It's like saying a coby tv is as nice as my Samsung tv.
Anyways, I have both phones, simply, nexus is the faster smoother phone. Whereas the s3 is fast also but.. there is always that stutter here and there.
I too was kept away from the nexus because no sd slot but, after using the nexus for a week it's definitely the better phone. Btw a custom Rom on the nexus 4 is equivalent or better than the s3. Many early comparisons around the forums or on those review sites may differ... but that's probably based off stock. Custom rom on the nexus 4 blows any other phones away. Yes our camera loses to the s3, ip5, one x/+, I wouldn't even be surprised if we lose to the razr hd maxx. But it's still a good camera...think in between s2 and s3

Just to put my two pence into this; in my experience, I've found that the Nexus 4 is more responsive to the touch/smoother. That being said, I can't deny the speed of the International GS3. Despite the Nexus having superior hardware, I consistently find that the S3 loads most things quicker. Especially when it comes to browsing, both running the same browser, S3 wins EVERY TIME, without fail - when I test, anyway. It doesnt make sense to me either, the Nexus 4 should theoretically far outmatch the S3 in speed, but it doesn't.

Hi, I posted the same thread at the nexus' page.. Now I would like to know your experiences with s3 mini, if it's better with galaxy nexus. I'm buying either one of the two in a few days so I really need to know..
Here are the stuff that I do with my phone:
- Games (if it can handle HD games, then that would be good.. But I mostly play casual games)
- Internet
- Take pictures (facebook, instagram, and print sometimes)
- Call & Text
What I like about S3 mini:
- Gorilla glass (since I have a tendency to break the lcd, I'm really considering this)
- MicroSD slot (I have a class 10 16gb microsdhc card lying around from my previous phone)
So, could you guys share your experiences with your S3 mini? A comparison of the two phones would really help me a lot. I've read in some reviews that s3 mini is kinda slow and tend to lag sometime. Also, how is the development going?
Actually the Gorilla Glass thing is not that clear... we think that our S3 mini doesn't have it. Still a good scratchproof glass, but maybe not gorilla.
However:
-MicroSD slot it's a great feature, I put a 16GB class 10 microSD and it works like a charme, with very nice read/write speed rates
-Of course it can handle HD games! I've tried Shadowgun, NFS Most Wanted, NFS Shift, Asphalt 7 and so on
-Good and smooth browsing experience with stock browser, at least in my personal opinion
About the lags: I've not had a lag for 2 weeks (I got this device few days ago); the only noticeable "lag" happens when in the app drawer you switch from the Apps tab to the Widgets one, but that's because the launcher needs to rebuild the cache
So definetely a good phone, smooth and perfect for everyday use. Also its size! I'm not a lover of gigantic phones and this one is a very good compromise (always IMO).
And as far as development is concerned: it started and it's growing step by step. Give us some time and you'll have many good ROMs :highfive:

+1.
I never had a lag with S3 mini or I don't remember having one since 3 weeks now that i bought my mini. Is a great phone. better that S3 that is huge and looks like a thin brick.
So far I am very content with my S3 mini, which I'm using for about a month now. It's fast, no lags for me. The display is very responsive. The missing Micro-SD slot, inability to change the battery and the poor availability and the higher price were the main argument against Nexus 4 and pro S3 Mini for me.
I have a nexus 4 and just bought a pebble blue mini today for ££189.99 I like both phones nexus has its good points and bad so I am sure the s3 mini is on par as well will look forward to using it.
I never had a lag with SIII mini,i use it for 1 week!!!
I've had both phones and replaced my Galaxy Nexus with the SIII Mini because I wanted a smaller phone.
Performance wise the 2 phones are very similar, camera might be a bit better on the Nexus but I really don't use it a lot on either phone.
Go for the nexus 4. It's definitely better than mini a

The only reason I didn't get nexus 4 (we are talking about n4 not galaxy nexus, right?) is that wasn't available in December and my 2year contract was expiring.. So I got my self Sgs3 mini. Hey guys,
I'm going to buy a new device but now I need your thoughts on something. I'm going to buy a Galaxy S3 brand new or S3 LTE (4g) secondhanded. The major difference is that the LTE version has twice as much RAM as the original S3. Will I experience this with normal usage of phone, so no heavy games etc. Give me your thoughts guys.
Ps: Of course I will keep this device, everything for me started with this phone and now I want to see how far we can go with this phone.
To stay away from a lot of problems caused by low RAM, the standard of RAM amount in Android devices (look medium range) today is 1 GB. More RAM means more multitasking performance and no memory problems for heavy apps, going through Android system slowdown while RAM is almost full. With 1 GB you should be ok, but not away from possible risks, especially if you use "always open" apps like Facebook/Messenger, Whatsapp, Email, Exchange Services... With 2 GB you are totally out of RAM problems, also because in 2+ GB devices the Android's lowmemorykiller (it's mainly because of this when you have slowdowns in low RAM devices, Android tries to close apps to free memory but when it reach the point where cannot close other apps? Slowdown!) is almost not used anymore, it's present, but you will never reach the point where Android uses it. About LTE, if in your town there is it, you can take advantage of faster network speed.
My suggestion is to buy LTE version.
Now depends from you, if you want a brand-new device that in 6~8 months, especially after Android L came out, will do the end of Janice (look at slowdowns caused by low RAM amount) or buy used LTE version that has the double of RAM.
The future is always behind the door, technology has big news everyday, you buy a device today and tomorrow it's old. More time passes, more future apps will require and occupy more RAM, leaving away new Android versions from this speech

Why you want a plastic feel? I don't like anymore samsung phones. It has plastic and doesn't have that premium design. So,my suggestion: buy Nexus or Xperia (i want to get xperia ZR because it have removable battery). You will get a premium design

Maybe with his budget can buy only S3 device.
All Samsung devices suck while original, just change ROM to see it become to fly fast like a rocket.
Nexus 4 is a good phone too but battery sucks
I think buying a samsung phone second-handed would fit the budget well and give you the benefit of a great battery performance. Just 'upgrade' to any custom rom asap.
The plastic and old fashion looks also have an advantage, if you drop your phone here and there quite a lot. Replacing a screen on a slimmer new gen unibody phone would cost you a fortune!
I own a Samsung Galaxy S3 (GT-I9300, so 1 GB of ram) and runs so fast with a custom rom like cyanogenmod. About LTE version, I didn't test it.
Maybe Blu
What about a BLU brand, maybe a BLU Studio 5.0 C HD? I have not tried a BLU product but am impressed with the specs and the cost.

Hey guys,
I'm going to buy a new device but now I need your thoughts on something.

Already did haha nice developement in there. And Archi's CM of course About that KitKat update, I'll check it out.
I think I'll be more satisfied with the developement of the normal S3. And I really want to try Archi's CM.
