I believe I have a similar problem as this guy ( http://forums.androidcentral.com/verizon-galaxy-s-iii/195932-cant-transfer-pictures-my-s3.html ).
The pictures should be in the DCIM/Camera folder but aren't. I looked up the file path of the pics. Only one old picture is shown.
All pictures shot by me are missing. Could have something to do with permissions?
Edit: Come to think of it. The most likely explanation is that "DCIM/Camera" exists somewhere and is accessed via MTP or PTP in the PC's explorer. The cache file folder has a bunch of .tec and .arc files e.g. 20125440784004.tec
thumbnails is missing.
When accessing the DCIM/Camera folder via the Android file explorer, all pictures are there in storage/sdcard0 along with cache and thumbnail folders. There are no other DCIM/Camera folders or anything other than sdcard0.
What is going on?
Any help is much appreciated.
Well, right after I posted the "Edit", the most reasonable next step would have been to rename the folder and see what happens. Indeed DCIM -> DCIMx did the trick.
Ultimately the renaming brakes down to a bunch of Linux file system commands, probably even resetting permissions. So I figure another renaming step of DCIMx -> DCIM should solve the problem.
Update: It worked, but not after a reboot. I simply renamed the folder again, and let Android create a new DCIM folder. Everything is accessible within this one.

In the meanwhile there are a lot of program links in my program folder. But i realized that some of them are not movable. Some of them are located in \windows\startmenue and I can resort them to new folders etc. but a lot of them are not accessible. When I take my explorer from my PC with showing hidden files I can see all .lnk files but there is no way to move them because the access is denied.
Is there any way to move them to get order in this folder?
The hidden files are most probably in ROM, so they can't be moved, obviously...
I factory reset my locked Moto X running 4.4 before I rooted it and that erased my customized wallpaper I was able to get a copy of it from the threads on the other subforum but when I set it to wallpaper, it is not the same aspect ratio as it was originally. I know this because a friend has the same one and they did not factory reset theirs so I can compare them.
I looked at my friend's phone and they have a folder /customize/ and /customize/wallpaper. In the /customize folder there is a file called personalization.json and in the /customize/wallpaper there are 2 image files - 82PA00000051.jpg and 82PA00000051_small.jpg.
The contents of the json file are:
{"personalization":{"dp":{"wallpaper":[{"file":"wallpaper/82PA00000051.jpg","default":"true"},{"file":"wallpaper/82PA00000051.jpg"}]},"pp":{"frontClr":"#000000","backClr":"#300d04","accentClr":"#212121"}}}
Anyhow, since I am rooted and have write protection disabled, I can create the /customize and /customize/wallpaper folders and put the jpg's and the json file in them exactly as on my friend's Moto X. But his phone is not rooted so I can't see what permissions need to be set for the folders/files.
When I do recreated it on my phone and then reboot, the /customize/wallpaper subfolder and it's contents goes away as does the json file. I suspect I don't have the right permissions set.
If anyone could tell me what the permissions are for these folders, subfolders and files are, that would really help me! Or if you have any other thoughts on why this isn't working for me, that would help, too Thanks!

placing it into the gallery or just the folder where the other wallpapers are located should work. don't see a need to do all the above. SD card is where apps like zedge place their wallpapers after you download them. hope that helps!

That's what I did and it does not look the same. The aspect ratio is off.
Here is a picture to show you what I mean. On the left is the way it looks as it ships. On the right is the way it looks if you download it and set the file as wallpaper from the gallery.
I had ktoonsez installed on my previous rom, I switched over to a different rom and now I can't delete the folder in my internal memory called, "device." When I look in the folder it has ktweaker and other stuff, I've tried to mount the system as r/w but it still doesn't work. Does anyone else have this folder? Photos attached.
Try looking in /data/media/0 or /data/media/legacy
See if the folder is there and try deleting it. Sometimes the files on /sdcard are just images of the data folder. GL!
Delete any folder easily
If you fell any problem to do copy, paste, error Deleting File or Folder. Then you should use Long Path Tool to solve your problem.
If Long Path Tool fails on start up, please ensure you have .net framework installed on your PC.
So I accidentally deleted the Downloads folder on my internal storage while browsing the files on my PC and I immediately recreated it but its not working. I mean whenever anything is downloaded by the native Downloads manager app it shows up inside the app but not in the folder. I tried using both Download and Downloads as folder name but its still not working. My device has root access but I'm not able to find a Download(s) folder anywhere in the root directories either. Any ideas on how to fix this?
Did you check the permissions of the folder you recreated? Here's a snapshot (assuming I can figure this stupid app) of the permissions for the download folder on my htc m8. I imagine the permissions should be the same across devices.
Thanks for the response. I don't use ES File manager, only Solid Explorer for normal activities and Root Explorer for root related stuff etc. but if I'm not mistaken the dialogue in your screenshot represents global permissions, not just the permissions granted to the Download folder. Since the Download folder is located in the sdcard directory I believe the r/w permissions are automatically granted to the system. The issue probably lies somewhere else. The system download manager keeps storing downloaded files somewhere else, just not in the Download folder I created, and I've go no idea where or how to reassign it.
I restore data to alot of my apps and games by transferring them between my devices "/android/data" and "/android/obb" folders.
With the pixel 5, it seems I can only read what's in these folders, not write. I've tried stock tile explorer as well as root file explorers and neither can write to these folders.
I even tried to move them from my PC over to the pixel 5, and as soon as a write is attempted to the folders the device "quits responding" until you quit the operation.
Any other way to drop files and or modify files in these folders? I have root.
I have modified some files by first copying them to storage, modify then copy back, using root explorer. You may have to change the attributes
AFAIK the only way to transfer data to android/data is through a computer. I just moved save file data for Soccer Manager 2021 there. Not rooted. Edit, just read your whole post (yeah I'm stupid lol) no idea why you couldn't do it, maybe try playing around with folder permissions?
You can't access files there from an explorer app on your own phone, but you can through windows. Weird.
