Any way to write to android/data - Google Pixel 5 Questions & Answers

I restore data to alot of my apps and games by transferring them between my devices "/android/data" and "/android/obb" folders.
With the pixel 5, it seems I can only read what's in these folders, not write. I've tried stock tile explorer as well as root file explorers and neither can write to these folders.
I even tried to move them from my PC over to the pixel 5, and as soon as a write is attempted to the folders the device "quits responding" until you quit the operation.
Any other way to drop files and or modify files in these folders? I have root.

I have modified some files by first copying them to storage, modify then copy back, using root explorer. You may have to change the attributes

AFAIK the only way to transfer data to android/data is through a computer. I just moved save file data for Soccer Manager 2021 there. Not rooted. Edit, just read your whole post (yeah I'm stupid lol) no idea why you couldn't do it, maybe try playing around with folder permissions?
You can't access files there from an explorer app on your own phone, but you can through windows. Weird.

links in program folder?

In the meanwhile there are a lot of program links in my program folder. But i realized that some of them are not movable. Some of them are located in \windows\startmenue and I can resort them to new folders etc. but a lot of them are not accessible. When I take my explorer from my PC with showing hidden files I can see all .lnk files but there is no way to move them because the access is denied.
Is there any way to move them to get order in this folder?
The hidden files are most probably in ROM, so they can't be moved, obviously...

[Q] How to access photos in JB, Android >4?

I believe I have a similar problem as this guy ( http://forums.androidcentral.com/verizon-galaxy-s-iii/195932-cant-transfer-pictures-my-s3.html ).
The pictures should be in the DCIM/Camera folder but aren't. I looked up the file path of the pics. Only one old picture is shown.
All pictures shot by me are missing. Could have something to do with permissions?
Edit: Come to think of it. The most likely explanation is that "DCIM/Camera" exists somewhere and is accessed via MTP or PTP in the PC's explorer. The cache file folder has a bunch of .tec and .arc files e.g. 20125440784004.tec
thumbnails is missing.
When accessing the DCIM/Camera folder via the Android file explorer, all pictures are there in storage/sdcard0 along with cache and thumbnail folders. There are no other DCIM/Camera folders or anything other than sdcard0.
What is going on?
Any help is much appreciated.
Well, right after I posted the "Edit", the most reasonable next step would have been to rename the folder and see what happens. Indeed DCIM -> DCIMx did the trick.
Ultimately the renaming brakes down to a bunch of Linux file system commands, probably even resetting permissions. So I figure another renaming step of DCIMx -> DCIM should solve the problem.
Update: It worked, but not after a reboot. I simply renamed the folder again, and let Android create a new DCIM folder. Everything is accessible within this one.
Report if you have similar problems.

Transferring data, etc. to replacement phone

So i had to get my N6 replaced becasue the top speaker was all wacked out, so i got the new one and hope someone can help me (i know there will be ) first i'm trying to copy the titanium backup files, i keep getting an error on certain files saying "cannot copy, device has stopped responding or has been disconnected" when clearly neither of those things have happened. I am on stock rooted & unencrypted. I tried searching but found no answer to this..
Just created an update.zip but when i look on the computer, i cannot see the file..
how are you trying to copy the backup files?
I usually copy it to an online storage (dropbox/box etc). Make sure you download and restore it to your new phone before wiping/returning your old phone.
I'll try dropbox, what i did was had it create an update.zip which contains apps+data so i could flash it in recovery on the new phone. I can see the file with root explorer on the sdcard, but when i plug it in to the computer i don't see the file..
I'm trying to drag the tibu folder to dropbox and it won't do anything...

Are read/write permissions set on the file/directory?
Try moving it to your phones "Downloads" directory and see if it shows on your computer? Enable "view hidden file types".
rwxrwx-- the only part not checked is where it says others..
Edit: I tried checking the boxes next to others and it said permissions could not be changed..

Accidentally deleted the Downloads folder

So I accidentally deleted the Downloads folder on my internal storage while browsing the files on my PC and I immediately recreated it but its not working. I mean whenever anything is downloaded by the native Downloads manager app it shows up inside the app but not in the folder. I tried using both Download and Downloads as folder name but its still not working. My device has root access but I'm not able to find a Download(s) folder anywhere in the root directories either. Any ideas on how to fix this?
Did you check the permissions of the folder you recreated? Here's a snapshot (assuming I can figure this stupid app) of the permissions for the download folder on my htc m8. I imagine the permissions should be the same across devices.
Thanks for the response. I don't use ES File manager, only Solid Explorer for normal activities and Root Explorer for root related stuff etc. but if I'm not mistaken the dialogue in your screenshot represents global permissions, not just the permissions granted to the Download folder. Since the Download folder is located in the sdcard directory I believe the r/w permissions are automatically granted to the system. The issue probably lies somewhere else. The system download manager keeps storing downloaded files somewhere else, just not in the Download folder I created, and I've go no idea where or how to reassign it.

Can't find obb folder! Some help?

Ive used my droid turbo for 18 month or so. I always enjoy the convenience of installing an app first and drag data into the obb folder under emulated/0/Android.
But yesterday, I can't find it anymore(all those app data is not lost). I wanted to create a new obb folder but the phone tell me that the folder already exists. When I connect the phone to my computers(both mac and windows), I still can't find the obb folder and as I drag in a blank obb folder that I've just created, my phone crashed and restart. I used shell to check permission and it turns out the folder is there and I have full permission to Read and Write. And I backed up my device and give it a wipe. But no luck.
So, I know that the obb folder is still there, but hidden. I think it may be the Es explorer since the problem happens after I used es explorer to clean app residue after deleting an app which could trigger the write protection?
So Im bit frustrated after working on the issue or this long. So Im asking you guys, have you ever run into issues like this? Is there a viable solution?
