Ive used my droid turbo for 18 month or so. I always enjoy the convenience of installing an app first and drag data into the obb folder under emulated/0/Android.
But yesterday, I can't find it anymore(all those app data is not lost). I wanted to create a new obb folder but the phone tell me that the folder already exists. When I connect the phone to my computers(both mac and windows), I still can't find the obb folder and as I drag in a blank obb folder that I've just created, my phone crashed and restart. I used shell to check permission and it turns out the folder is there and I have full permission to Read and Write. And I backed up my device and give it a wipe. But no luck.
So, I know that the obb folder is still there, but hidden. I think it may be the Es explorer since the problem happens after I used es explorer to clean app residue after deleting an app which could trigger the write protection?
So Im bit frustrated after working on the issue or this long. So Im asking you guys, have you ever run into issues like this? Is there a viable solution?

Rooted pure. Can't view android/obb folder in any root explorer. I can verify it is there by switch to its directory in terminal emulator. However I can't write to it. "Error permission denied "
Does anyone know how to make it visible and set write permissions?
I am NON ROOTED
I can only add files or overwrite them, by making a obb folder anywhere else, putting the files in it ,then moving this folder inside the Android folder
Sent from my XT1092
Hmm. I can do that. However it say that folder exist so I have to overwrite it. Seeing that I can't view it I'm worried there might be something I need in it.

Same problem here
I tried changing permissions in terminal but I couldn't make it visible. It wouldn't even let me delete the folder because the device or resource is busy. It would be nice to fix this. Maybe with twrp you could delete the folder and make a new one that would be visible.

Hi,
I was also facing the same problem and by some hit and trial i was able to see the folder and write to it. This is what i did:-
1) I used ES File Explorer.
2)In it if you search for obb folder using the "search" option you are able to see the obb folder and the files in it.
If you want a step by step guide i have written it in the following page:- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=57161290&postcount=3

I saw that post. Thanks. I can get into the folder and write to it, but I would really like to make it visible. I think its really odd that with root you can view all the other folders, but not to the obb folder. If anyone knows why, that would be helpful.
Hi,
So a few days ago i wanted to put files in the obb folder to install some apks. However, when i connected it to my computer, I didn't see any obb folder, so I tried creating one. But every time I tried to create the folder the device kept disconnecting. I have tried creating the folder with USB debugging off and on, with a rooted phone as well as a non-rooted phone, from my computer and from file managers on the phone, but nothing works. What is strange is that when i create the obb folder from a file manager on my, it does create it and i can go into it and i can see the obb of many apps there, but as soon as i come out the folder, the folder vanishes. Someone help please?
obb Folder
Hi there, I had the same problem, but I think the new moto X used the folder Data instead of obb, thats the solution I found for me.
So i did something stupid on my moto x. I made a TWRP backup a while ago and i wanted to delete it. So using ES file explorer i found this folder which looked like TWRP backup in root. so i deleted it but turns out it was my internal memory which was pointing to this location.
Now every time i open ES file explorer it says '/sdcard/ is not found' and it says 0.0B if i check SD card analyst in ES file explorer.
For reference i deleted '0' folder in 'root/data/media' and new '0' folder is already created but it still doesn't show sdcard in ES.
Please any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Edit: Never mind got it working after a restart.
So I accidentally deleted the Downloads folder on my internal storage while browsing the files on my PC and I immediately recreated it but its not working. I mean whenever anything is downloaded by the native Downloads manager app it shows up inside the app but not in the folder. I tried using both Download and Downloads as folder name but its still not working. My device has root access but I'm not able to find a Download(s) folder anywhere in the root directories either. Any ideas on how to fix this?
Did you check the permissions of the folder you recreated? Here's a snapshot (assuming I can figure this stupid app) of the permissions for the download folder on my htc m8. I imagine the permissions should be the same across devices.
Thanks for the response. I don't use ES File manager, only Solid Explorer for normal activities and Root Explorer for root related stuff etc. but if I'm not mistaken the dialogue in your screenshot represents global permissions, not just the permissions granted to the Download folder. Since the Download folder is located in the sdcard directory I believe the r/w permissions are automatically granted to the system. The issue probably lies somewhere else. The system download manager keeps storing downloaded files somewhere else, just not in the Download folder I created, and I've go no idea where or how to reassign it.
I restore data to alot of my apps and games by transferring them between my devices "/android/data" and "/android/obb" folders.
With the pixel 5, it seems I can only read what's in these folders, not write. I've tried stock tile explorer as well as root file explorers and neither can write to these folders.
I even tried to move them from my PC over to the pixel 5, and as soon as a write is attempted to the folders the device "quits responding" until you quit the operation.
Any other way to drop files and or modify files in these folders? I have root.
I have modified some files by first copying them to storage, modify then copy back, using root explorer. You may have to change the attributes
AFAIK the only way to transfer data to android/data is through a computer. I just moved save file data for Soccer Manager 2021 there. Not rooted. Edit, just read your whole post (yeah I'm stupid lol) no idea why you couldn't do it, maybe try playing around with folder permissions?
You can't access files there from an explorer app on your own phone, but you can through windows. Weird.
