So i did something stupid on my moto x. I made a TWRP backup a while ago and i wanted to delete it. So using ES file explorer i found this folder which looked like TWRP backup in root. so i deleted it but turns out it was my internal memory which was pointing to this location.
Now every time i open ES file explorer it says '/sdcard/ is not found' and it says 0.0B if i check SD card analyst in ES file explorer.
For reference i deleted '0' folder in 'root/data/media' and new '0' folder is already created but it still doesn't show sdcard in ES.
Please any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Edit: Never mind got it working after a restart.

Older versions of TWRP incorrectly set the permissions. Use root explorer or ES File Explorer to set the permissions properly.

Hello everyone,
I just upgraded to 4.3 from 4.1.2 for the first time.
When in recovery I can view all of my original SD card files (prior to upgrade) when I select the "choose zip from SD card" option. However, when I plug my phone through USB to view my SD card contents there's an entirely fresh file structure which does not include my personal files. I also tried through ES File Explorer and I still cannot view my old files. It only works through recovery.
Can someone please point me in the right direction to get my old files back? I know the file structure changed but I'm not sure how to go about migrating my old files.
I'm running InsertCoin with the latest T-Mobile Radio if it helps.

Use a program like ES file explorer or root explorer
Navigate to /data/media/0 and see if you see your files in there or data/media/emulated something like that

Thanks for the reply Charlie. I'm using ES File Explorer. There are no files or folders inside /data/. I checked /storage/emulated/0/ and /storage/emulated/legacy (not sure if that's what you meant) and they are not there either.
Nevermind, found it. ES File Explorer had hidden files turned off and root explorer off as well.
Thanks again!

If you have two TWRP folders, delete the TWRPs file that's in the empty one (not the one that's got your backups in)

I'm actually on CWM not TWRP.
So I accidentally deleted the Downloads folder on my internal storage while browsing the files on my PC and I immediately recreated it but its not working. I mean whenever anything is downloaded by the native Downloads manager app it shows up inside the app but not in the folder. I tried using both Download and Downloads as folder name but its still not working. My device has root access but I'm not able to find a Download(s) folder anywhere in the root directories either. Any ideas on how to fix this?
Did you check the permissions of the folder you recreated? Here's a snapshot (assuming I can figure this stupid app) of the permissions for the download folder on my htc m8. I imagine the permissions should be the same across devices.
Thanks for the response. I don't use ES File manager, only Solid Explorer for normal activities and Root Explorer for root related stuff etc. but if I'm not mistaken the dialogue in your screenshot represents global permissions, not just the permissions granted to the Download folder. Since the Download folder is located in the sdcard directory I believe the r/w permissions are automatically granted to the system. The issue probably lies somewhere else. The system download manager keeps storing downloaded files somewhere else, just not in the Download folder I created, and I've go no idea where or how to reassign it.
Ive used my droid turbo for 18 month or so. I always enjoy the convenience of installing an app first and drag data into the obb folder under emulated/0/Android.
But yesterday, I can't find it anymore(all those app data is not lost). I wanted to create a new obb folder but the phone tell me that the folder already exists. When I connect the phone to my computers(both mac and windows), I still can't find the obb folder and as I drag in a blank obb folder that I've just created, my phone crashed and restart. I used shell to check permission and it turns out the folder is there and I have full permission to Read and Write. And I backed up my device and give it a wipe. But no luck.
So, I know that the obb folder is still there, but hidden. I think it may be the Es explorer since the problem happens after I used es explorer to clean app residue after deleting an app which could trigger the write protection?
So Im bit frustrated after working on the issue or this long. So Im asking you guys, have you ever run into issues like this? Is there a viable solution?
I have done a search on the forum and couldn't find an answer. I have a rooted note 8 running Nougat 7.1.1. I have an older version of ES File Explorer (did use the newest version but rolled back because I didn't like it).
How can I access my external sdcard with a file explorer? I originally thought it was because of the newest ES File Explorer but when I rolled back I couldn't find it either. I can do a search for a specific file on the sdcard but I don't see it in a directory. So if I don't know the file name, I can't get to the external card. Any ideas?

Use the stock file manager the phone has ( My Files )
On main screen inside my files you can see internal or external storage options,
Choose external and look for the file, you may have to hit top right 3 dots for menu and turn on show hidden files if its a hidden file
