Hi, I just wanted to ask you guys, it seems that my i8190 does not have a light sensor, also, i cannot set the brightness to "automatically" in screen settings.
So, does Samsung Galaxy S III mini have a light sensor?
Thank you in advance.
No, it only has a proximity sensor and the VGA camera next to the speaker grill.
It also doesn't have a notification LED, which seems to be a "premium feature" nowadays... X(
you can get it from custom rom like cyanogenmod

Well, if there is a light sensor, i can imagine that a custom ROM can access it somehow and make auto brightness possible.
BUT, there is no LED, so that is something we can never expect to be in any custom ROM, or am I wrong ?

No there is no led, if i remembered correctly, Maclaw said it wasnt possible to implement it but im not sure
As far as i know, there is a light sensor, but Samsung didnt make a hole in front panel for it.

Its not the sensor's fault, its the default settings samsung had set for different light levels, you can modify it though

Buy a signal led sticker, and stick it on the back.

This question was asked and answered some time ago.
The mini hasn't got an led.
You can simulate this via an app called noled.
Search on market, interesting app. Maybe something to try.
I've read a little about the s3 mini not having an ambient light sensor. Is that the case with the T599 also? Would be nice to have auto brightness but not sure of it is a hardware limitation.

I also have s3 mini and it is shocking that no ambient sensor amd auto brightness. Very lame desicion by samsung. What are they thinking include everything and even nfc but no light sensor...

i donno why they dont built it into this phone. many dont need it but if you had one you will miss it.
PS: im just posting to get 10 posts to post in dev-are...its a really annoying limitation!
Simpy buy this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vito.lux
it works perfectly on my S3 mini and also on my tablet (also withou light sensor).

Something about this subject.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2277228
My phone's diaplay has turned pink. But when I press the home button to open task manager then the area behind recent apps dialog box becomes as it should be.
So please anyone could tell me if it could be repaired or the screen is to be changed!
Thanks in advance
Hmmm. This is interesting.
Did this just suddenly happen or did something happen to it, eg. Did you flash a rom/kernel or did to get submerged in water etc
If it did get submerged in water, its likely a hardware fault
Try flash in Sempahore GB, that has Voodoo colour, and see if that changes anything - if not, its likely a hardware fault

Follow what @Soryuu said to do. In my opinion, if this is a hardware issue (display to be changed), then you better buy a used phone as it costs equal to the display. Or you may use it as your secondary phone and buy a new quad core phone
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Maybe a hardware issue like that:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2529205
but if there's something wrong with the display then why the area behind the recent dialog box ok

That's probably why - when you reassembled the phone you must have also done something to the screen digitiser without realising.

Check that the display flex cable is properly seated. Or see if you can tune it out with colour calibration.

yeah the display cable is properly seated but then also the display is as it is

Try to clean the screen connectors or try with another display.
Good luck
Any news about the problem with the display???

sorry, but how to do that?
i just installed the app and then just adjusted the brightness accordingly
What ROM are you using? Most ROMs for i9000 have colour adjustment built into settings.

Same setting point in CM 10.x
In CM 11 it is called "color calibration" under "Other device options"
thanks
Thanks for the help but i have tried this several times.
but it is same. !!!

Does anyone else have this problem when brightness is set to auto and you wake the phone in the dark the screen is too dim?
It's fine when you wake the phone in bright places.
I have the Verizon Note 5.
Thanks.
I personally think it's too bright in the dark
Sent from my SM-N920P using Tapatalk
yup. its painfully dim on auto setting. Verizon note 5 here...
damn, i felt it was too bright. i couldn't wait to get lux running to dim the thing down.
This doesn't let you set the auto level after you set auto like the s6?

I think he's referring to when you check the auto box and you're able to increase the auto brightness level on the slider, so you're auto brightness is relative to the slider.
I have the AT&T version and this does not work.
I to am having the same problem.
On the international version of the Note 5 and it just started happening to me. I walked outside and thought my screen broke because I couldnt see a thing with auto brightness on. No idea whats going on.

Had a similar thing happen to me. Was standing outside in relative darkness and suddenly, without any changes to the environment, my screen became a lot dimmer. Weird.

I fixed it by flashing the latest firmware from Samsung. The senors have gone back to normal but now I seem to have a weird battery drain. The "Android System" seems to be using most of the battery
Dont really want to flaah my new phone...i have this as well. Seems to happen in the evening more than the middle of the day. Maybe the power level in the phone is lower...so its trying to help me out. Its not ... is very frustrating

It has amazed me for years that Android doesn't let you set a custom curve for auto brightness.
