BoxWave case, similar cases? - Galaxy Note II Accessories

Well I guess I have a slight tendency for dropping phones... Dropped my Note 2 today when my hand kinda snagged on my headphones cable, didn't drop too hard, thanks to the headphones being plugged in. They kinda slowed down the fall. No damage, luckily. But I would like to have a really rugged tough case, I found this BoxWave case on Amazon, but looks to be for the original note, not sure if it will fit on the Note 2? Any one know for sure?? Also anyone know if there is a similar case to this one? I really like the ruggedness of it, looks like it will have good protection. But I don't like that it doesn't have a kickstand, I can find someway to attach one later though...

Amzer Case is Junk!

I bought one of these for my wife's phone. It is the the Focus just like mine. I have the body glove case which is better.
The Amzer case fits poorly. Feels poorly made. It holds a static charge. For $ 10, it is a waste of money. Also, they show the picture of it having holes cut out for the buttons, that is not the case. The buttons are covered just like every other case I have seen (with my own eyes, not online).
I would not recommend this to anyone.
It seems that you got the wrong item as I ordered the same case and it is working fine. You may contact them.....
Yeah dude, I don't know what you're talking about, my wife already got her maroon red case and it seems pretty awesome.
Also, holds a charge? How do you figure that? Did you shock yourself? Did your Focus blast you?
Well, MY wife got her pink one and it sucks. Doesn't fit very well and holds a static charge. It is winter here in Indiana so static is an issue. MY Bodyglove case fits better and doesn't hold a static charge. Outside of the issue with the buttons on the Bodyglove case, it is a much better case. Maybe you don't have anything to compare it to, but it you tried other cases (better made cases) you would see that this case is junk.
Plus, it doesn't have holes cut out for the buttons like the pictures all show. Piece of junk for sure. All well, at least I only wasted $ 10.
BTW, I have talked to several people who have tried this case and they all say the samething. It is JUNK! Good luck with yours, you must have gotten the only 2 that actually are made correctly.
which amzer case are you talking about?

if you have the Snap-On Case , would you mind posting some pictures?

[Q] Seidio Rugged or otterbox?...

I am having a hard time deciding between the seidio Rugged or one of the otterbox cases. I am a contractor and need a protective case badly. I have had the incredible since launch. used the case/belt clip combo from verizon store...the one that doesn't cover the ends...dumb case imo. and ended up taking that off recently to just slide phone in pocket, as that case didn't protect the phone very much at all. but the best one available at the store at launch.
I ended up having to get a replacement phone, and recieved it today. I want to be able to protect this one better.
Physical damage and dust are both a problem durring work hours.
I wish I could find these new cases at a local store to compare in person.
Has anyone seen both of these types of cases?
which do you like better, and why?
I am leaning toward the seido because of the two different cases that come with it. I like to slide the phone in my pocket on weekends.
thanks,
Jon

Oh wow, your story is a direct parallel to mine! I am a mechanical contractor (HVAC/R) who also has the incredible since launch, I myself have been using the the belt clip and shell that resembles diamond plate sold by verizon, an ok case but just doesnt cut it in the trades.
A month ago I bought the Otterbox defender, while it covers the phone well and adds much better protection, the fit of the phone inside is poor, I broke the belt clip two weeks into owning it. Otterbox did replace the belt clip but the time it took was almost two weeks. Just a few days ago the little detent on the otterbox that holds the phone in the holster broke so now I'm back to square one.
Just yesterday I decided to ordered Seidio Rugged case from amazon, I never owned nor held one but I figured it would be money better spent rather than buying another otterbox. I just don't think the otterbox quality is quite there. I expect to have the new case on or around 1-06-2011 and after I get it and put it to use I will update you on it so you can make a better decision.
thanks for the response...
I have read about different peoples experiences with these different cases, and still wish I could see them in person before purchasing. I am really close to going ahead with the Seidio Rugged, and might order it today.
Jon
I'm also a contractor installing satellites and am very happy with the Seidio Rugged.
What sold me on the Seidio Rugged was the "Face In" design and the 3 layers of protection. Sure, the 3 layers adds mega thickness but doing all the "cell destructive" stuff I do, it's a very minor thing to deal with. In fact, the few times I've taken the case off, the phone felt too small and fragile.
On the second Seidio Rugged case simply because in a stupid moment just grabbed the phone and ripped it off my belt instead of taking the clip off. No idea what was thinking but needed a new clip so just got the whole thing again.
But yeah, if you use a tool belt, climb ladders, crawl under houses, or any of the crazy dirty stuff contractors do, get a Rugged.
landscape installer/maintainer here. go with the seidio. im hard on all my stuff. and i have had the rugged for 6 mo. and havent destroyed it yet. locking mech. and belt clip still work fine. and the 3 layers on the actual case is very protective.
got mine on amazon for under 40 shipped.
seidio rugged here also.. best case Ive used...
I ordered the Seidio rugged today.
looking forward to it getting it here...
My Seidio Rugged outer skeleton snapped yesterday. I wasn't applying any pressure, just taking it off and snap. So I ordered a Case-Mate Tough Case. I'm sure it will work just fine.

This happened to mine as well. Seidio is good about replacing it....no real need to buy a new case. At any rate I recommend the rugged case. I have dropped my phone more times than I would care to admit and this case has saved it a few times over. I figured my exoskeleton was weakened from all the drops...and I had the tendency to take it off and put it back on for no reason when i got bored. Also it looks bad *** in my opinion...
Well as I explained in an earlier post I have been using the Otterbox Defender and while it offers more protection than other cases I have used it simply seem to lack quality and convenience. I did order the Seidio Rugged case to give it a shot and to my suprise when I came home from work today my rugged case was delivered. I wasn't expecting it until 1-06-2011.
I have to say after getting my phone in it and set up my initial feelings are it appears to be a well designed case that offers very nice protection to the phone and actually adds less bulk than the otterbox. I have not used it in the field yet but I will update after a day or two in the field. But I must say at this moment I am very pleased with my decision on the Rugged case and am kicking myself in the but for not making it my first my first choice.
received the Rugged case today....
the case was in the mailbox today.
I am impressed with the case. and will feel a lot better about the protection for my Incredible phone when on the job site. When all of the case components are on the phone, it definitely adds quite a bit of bulk. That will be something for me to get use to, for sure. But, I feel that it will not be a problem.
I can totally understand how some people have accidently torn the rubber access piece off that covers the micro usb port. I hope I don't tear it off, but realistically feel that it is just a matter of time, as it is a very small piece of rubber that keeps it attached...
I really like the fact that the innocase II is the base layer. I expect that it will be my weekend case.
I thought about not applying the screen protector, due to the problems i have had in the past applying screen protectors (ie...bubbles that won't go away, dust particles, etc.)...but, decided to try it. Well, it applied better than I ever could have hoped for. I started by aligning it at the top around the ear speaker, and just smoothed it out as I let it apply itself to the screen. It fits well for the most part, but could have been just a hair longer from top to bottom.
I am excited to have this case. I only wish I had not waited this long to make myself spend the money on it.
Hopefully i will be this happy with it in the coming days and weeks...

I tore the rubber camera protector flap off my rugged maybe 2 months ago now, I contacted Seidio and they had a replacement outer rubber to me within a week. They are good about replacements.
(Note I was also only a week outside of the warranty period)
Seidio Rugged is a Wonderful Case
I have had the Seidio Rugged case for about two weeks now and it's wonderful! I don't find myself using the holster much, only when I go on a run do I attach it to an armband and slip the phone in the case so I can track my runs with Cardio Trainer.
I really like the feel of the case. It makes me feel like I'm holding a more powerful phone in my hands, whereas without the case, I feel like it's just too light to perform as well as it does. lol. However, size doesn't matter as some say, and is always a personal preference.
I would definitely say get the case if you want more protection and are willing to make the phone a few millimeters thicker. I definitely worry less about my phone breaking now. My only gripe is the camera cover tends not to stay pinned back in the little restraint Seidio made for it. Beyond that, wonderful case all around and I'd recommend getting it.

Bloody hell!!!!
Have had this case for months and have FOUGHT that damn flap every time!! Never even noticed that little hole.... Use the flash light app every day almost to see behind peoples TV's and audio equipment and have always had to hold the flap down....
Thank you VERY MUCH for your post. Feel like an idiot, but happy to know it now.
As a construction worker, I was about to buy an Otterbox before stumbling upon this thread. Did some research, looked at a few videos, and I think I'm gonna settle for the Seidio now. Either way, both look like great cases and I couldn't go wrong with either. The Seidio on the other hand converts to a normal case when not on the job site, so that's where it wins IMO. Also, the belt clip looks better designed. Thanks XDA! You guys rule!
Cannot say I have ANY complaints about the rugged. Think about it this way: when you need it protected, you have 3 layers + a holster. If you want simple, but cased, you got the Innocase II underneath which still can hold its own as a case not to mention that it looks nice and slim also. The thing that sold me though was the holster. It comes with a lock switch which means that this baby aint never falling off. I can remove, unlock, lock, attach the phone all with my index and thumb. So easy, yet so secure.
However, I did have one gripe about this phone, and that was the covers for the USB port and the Headphone jack. It has no notches to pull out easily and it tends to get lost in the groove that it fits in to. At first, I was extremely aggravated that this happened and was worried I would ruin the rubber. BUT I found that when I pinch the sides of the case (which I totally forgot was rubber), the flaps would pop out like nothing.
So yes, the one thing that would have held me back was solved, and I am happy to report that this thing is a beast. Of course if you don't want a big thing to lug around, then don't get this, but I gotta say... it feels like a tank, and I feel secure taking this thing everywhere with me now. =D
I've had the rugged for quite a while...just to have it really. Being a social worker doesn't really but my dinc at risk. I do enjoy the feel of having it in the case when I do though, although it seems that sometimes the holster seems to catch the rubber a bit more than I'd like. I'm glad to see it seems to be a step above the otterbox.
i'm been using the ottorbox commuter and i've had no problem, i love it cause its not as bulky as other cases.
Ya definitely going with the seidio rugged case setup. I can do without the belt clip attachment though. I can see that breaking off within a week at work with me. But the rest of the case(s) are just what I'm looking for.
Thanks for the thoughts, I am in the same boat as you guys.

Thanks for any inputs =)

Not a popular case i see....=/
From what I can tell, it's still pretty new. Though I'm considering it myself. I'm really curious if it is just plastic or if it has a soft lining material to prevent scratches. Not knowing that is what has kept me from pulling the trigger.
Edit: Watched some videos of the iPhone version of the case. Looks like it is all polycarbonate. That's a no go for me, I'd like something soft around the Tab.
to be perfectly honest with you, i could probobly buy 2 cases better than that on ebay for the price of that one ($50.00 USD?!?!). Seriously, search it up. you wont be disappointed. my friend who works at a cell phone shop near my home has a scorch case, and its falling apart.
heres a couple i found.

3. http://cgi.ebay.com/QPJA-Hard-Stand...Accessories&hash=item25640ca5e7#ht_1888wt_889

3.http://cgi.ebay.com/BLACK-Trident-A...ccessories&hash=item27bbe5ed3a#ht_2128wt_1025
The trident case is my personal favorite. its almost bulletproof. i have it on my galaxy vibrant and on my tablet.
all of the cases mentioned above costs either half, or less than half of the scorch case your looking at.
The incipio is too bulky for my liking. I don't need such superior case protection.
This one:
http://cgi.ebay.com/QPIA-Hard-Stand...128860?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item256324899c
Looks pretty nice expect i wish it was offered in all blk so those ugly lines are less visible...
Might still try the scosche switchback if I find a good price on it.

REVIEW: Smartphone Experts leather side pouch (hip case)

Finding a leather case that's really made for the Note 2 that goes on your hip is a heck of a challenge at best. There's lots of pleather cases out there, and ones that aren't made for the Note...they're big enough to hold two of them I've heard! The case made right is big enough already, it doesn't need to be bigger than needed.
So after lots of looking I settled on the Smartphone Experts Side Pouch.
From what I could tell in the pictures, it looked like a good case and with the black friday discount, I got it for ~$21, not bad for a leather case.
It came in today, and I must say I'm pleasantly surprised. It truly is real leather, smells great and is stamped so on the back (you can see it in the pictures.) Stitching is done nicely, and with black thread instead of the white I see so often. Thank god for that, I don't need my case looking like a leisure suit!
There is extra padding on the exposed side of the case, I haven't seen this before in other cases. This can be seen in the pictures too. The belt clip is sturdy and strong, even though it looks small. The closure is magnetic and holds the flap down securely. Honestly, I don't know if magnets really mess up the phone, but it would be a simple matter to slide a sheet of mu-metal foil inside of the padded area to help with that.
The fit is quite snug, but one can expect that with all leather cases. They usually take about a week or so to form fit to your device. After that, it'll be quite easy to get the case in and out of my pocket. It does have a finger hole in the bottom center of the case to enable you to pop your device out easily. One miss, as pointed out by BrooklynAvi is that there is no headphone hole. I don't use headphones, but I can certainly see how that'd be a problem.
So, all in all, a very nice quality case. Definitely would recommend to anyone looking for a leather hip case.
Thanks for the review. Do you think this pouch can fit the Note Ii with a case? Maybe I'll be a tight fit.
Kinda hard to tell; my phone is naked. The extra padding is soft, so it does have some give in it. If the case is thin, it'll probably go. Good thing is that leather stretches with time, so it should stretch to fit eventually?
I love the Seidio holster but they aren't making it for the GNote 2 without an additional case. In addition to the cost of the extra case, I don't want to have a case on my phone. The strange thing is they make two of those type of cases which annoys me. One should have been the regular one. Well, they said they don't plan to make one so I was in the market for a traditional hip case. I found this one and you confirmed a few things I wanted to know so I'm ordering it now. I used this type for my Dash and several other devices so it shouldn't be too bad. Better than my pocket.
I thought this thread was going to be about a hip ie. fashionable case

Yeah, well.....
One thing I can't stand is a phone in the pocket. Only way to make that worse is to have a LARGE phone in my pocket. It may not look cool, but you can't beat a case on your hip for ease of access.
One (or two) big issues
OP: Can you add this comment (in brief, of course) to the OP so others know the headphones hole is missing?
So I received the case and it was exactly what I expected in terms of quality. It really is designed for a belt but works well on my pants alone when I don't wear a belt but falls off my sweatpants at home (I don't wear my case at home much anyway and this is to be expected). Here are the issues. There are no cutouts for the headphone and charger. The charger isn't truly and issue for me as I doubt I will charge it while wearing it like I've done with other phones (while out and using an external charger) because the battery life is tremendous on the GN2. But I really use the headphones while wearing the case. I actually think that this is a vital feature that was overlooked. My solution will be to pay $5 or $10 to have a professional seamstress cut a hole in it and stitch up the hole. Yeah, it's that important to me.
So if you need a case like this then it's really your only choice. I just didn't think to ask. It's solid though and once it stops being stiff I'm going to enjoy not having to carry the device in my pocket. I'm a huge fan of side cases and this is a really good one. (Anyone remember the awesome one that came with the T-Mobile Dash?)
After a week or so of use I've decided I'm returning the case. It simply doesn't stay on my side and it's fallen off in my car a few times. It even fell off while I was walking. I'm so disappointed in a case that could have been so good.
Sent from my GT-N7105 using xda premium
I never buy those belt clips like that, i had a bad experience with those. The belt part becomes every flimsy very fast. Im still looking for a nice belt holster that isn't ottercase or siedo.
I haven't had a problem with it falling off, but then I always had a belt on when I was using the case. It's a good case, but I've switched to the Best Buy Pt/seidio surface case. Gives the extra grip I need and love the holster.

Design is really good (except maybe the magnet which might affect Spen) but the quality doesn't look that great
Not gonna lie, been considering getting a folio case (that lets u use at a stand) more each day since this thing is a phablet (as ppl love to say)
I like this case a lot. The top and bottom of the phone is not exposed like those other folio cases. Can talk on the phone with the cover closed. It rotates with different viewing angles. And it looks like it could handle a drop.
How much?

The problem with any case which has a cover is that the cover can get to be quite annoying after a while, especially if you want to dock the phone. It is just ALWAYS there. I finally gave up my flipcase for a standard case just because I finally got tired of always having to mess with the cover.
Also, I have never understood the point of the clasp closure. Under what circumstances are you worried about your flip case flying open?
Would have to see this case in person. The material has a cheap look to it in the video.
There appears to be no magnet in this case. Capdase has reputation for making great iPhone cases. I purchased Capdase accessories for the Note 1 and Galaxy S2 in the past. The only thing that bothers me for the Note 2 accessories is that the buttons are exposed.
