Are you aware? draws six frames in burst mode, and the resolution decreases.
Do you have the answer this issue?
Yes sir everyone knows this. Burst mode taken pics are taken at VGA quality...same with the Panorama shot. I know...LG is so lame. But there is/are alternatives. I use the AOSP Jellybean 4.2 Camera for my panorama shots and it records at the full 8MP quality.

quality between both
5.4 is of course better cause of the AUTO FOCUS
but auto focus takes long to take a picture
so i use 6.8 cause it doesnt have it
plus i like the interface=]

HTC 6.8 camera has zoom
pic and video
5.4 has zoom in shifu just drop the MP in options and you get zoom
Oh my preference 5.4.31875.00 due to AF
6.8 has a better UI, but with 6.8 u cant use the front camera in shooting...
Personally I'm a big fan of 6.8 just because it lets you zoom on 3mp. I also happen to really enjoy the panoramic shot feature. It took awhile to find the a working of the cab with the ROM I prefer to use. But I feel it is the superior camera program.
As you already have seen in the camera mode! You can take panoramic pictures with the SGS! but it's only 0.3 mp! The droid x can take much higher resolution panoramic pictures.
Is there a way to hack it so we can take higher resolution panorama pictures?

of course, it's all software, you just need to install another Camera App for that
there is also a very nice Photo Stitch software for Android to do the same thing
then you can take individual high res pic, then stitch it all together
PhotoStitch is not working for the Samsung Galaxy S and i prefer the stock camera app!
Does the camera app in the pre release Froyo firmwares show any indication of increased resolution for panorama shots?
The built in camera app is pretty good and the implementation of pano shots is well done, save for the low rez.
Any updates on this issue?
PUSHING!
I really would want to have this feature modded in one of the camera.apk's
PLEASE!
Now that the thread is bumped, I'd like this feature!
Galaxy Ace (which I own) has this issue too.
Any news/fix/others-raccomanded-apk?
I've used this for some time and it's great:

Hellow everyone,
just a little question... Noticed that the camera don't take pictures in HD (480x800 for example) ... instead u have a 640x480 screen resolution wih big black borders at each side. Tried also another camera software like Camera Zoom FX which enable HD picture ... but just stretch 640x480 in 800x480 pictures.
So any chance of real HD pictures with LG optimus 2x?
Thx in advance for your kindley advise...

ok I understand...
The video screen/picture - or call it however u want - is using widescreen (720 x 480 ), the camera picture mode 640 x 480 VGA. I was wondering if anyone knows how to make widescreen picture with the camera pciture mode..
There was one stock camera mod before that can take picture at 6mp (16:9), but the picture ain't good on that particular setting. There's no more development on that camera mod and most people don't want 16:9 picture.

Well I finally found a software which can shoot panorama pictures... it's called pudding camera and it's a freeware... u can find it on playstore
Hi guys
This is probably a real dumb question but you'll have to forgive me as I'm a noob to android.
Is it likely that the Galaxy III camera app will get ported to the note? They are both 8 megapixel cameras, but I"m wondering whether there is a hardware difference or not?
If not, would it be theoretically possible to port the scrummy new Camera app with burst mode to the Note? Because that would be sweet!
Or am I asking something ridiculous?!
kind regards
Robsa
ETA: Ok, sorry fellas I finally found a post where this has come up and apparently hardware differences are likely. Pity!
Why not just use Camera Zoom FX or another camera app in the Play Store?
There are apps that offer burst mode, but with Note's camera they don't work so well. But if you're thinking of SIII's 0-lag shutter burst mode - than no, it's a hardware feature.

You should try fast burst camera.

Moved To Q&A
Please post questions in the Q&A section
Is there no way to enable burst shots in the default camera app? Since the best pictures usually come a second after taking the first - when the terror of having your picture taken is over and people have relaxed. Not having to switch apps would be a bonus.
It'd be great to see this working with the full res the Gnote offers

Not possible, and needs different hardware for true burst operation.

Just tried out the built in cam in lightroom for diffrent scenarios. It really bests both the built in cam and the gcam for both normal and hdr scenarios. Try adobe lightrooms cam out with HDR enabled. Skip the gcam hype.

Just one example zoomed in. This was at night. Much more dnr dynamic range with lightroom cam.
Even more pronounced in daylight though. But test it for yourelf. The image file is 40mb un edited. Any serious photographer on any phone should use the lightroom cam from now on.

Some proof lightroom camera totally BLOWS google camera away

These are max zoom ins. And not even in any hard hdr scenario. In a scenario where hdr is needed the lightroom camera is even more overpowered.
Looks impressive. Cheers.

App link?
Just go into playstore and search for and download
"Adobe lightroom".
Now there would be nice to compair the pixel2 and the note8 with both cams using lightroom hdr camera to really se what phone takes the best pics.

No. Does it require root? Wher can one get it? Id like to compaire it.
- i just tried it! Amazing! BUT SLOW. alot slower than lightroom. Tomorrow i will compair it with lightroom for quality. Sad the final hdr picture from open camera isnt in RAW format. I will post back on details of quality in 24 hrs.

Yeah but no raw format for the hdr image using hdr function. Lightroom does hdr out of raw files whereas im thinking lr cam is better. But ofc we need to test.
I just tested lowlight.
1. Lightroom preserves more detail and more dnr
2. Opencamera hdr is more compressed ie less detail but less noise. (You could still do manual nrd on lr)
3. No majour differences but a minor plus for the LR cam. LR cam is also quicker.
summary. Lightroom is best. Its quick and gives a bit better quality due to rawfiles in its hdr compaired to opencamera.
Example. Lr on the right. Quite alot more detail zoomed in very much. Opencamera gets very muddy and there is no way you can see each tile on the house.

What about the portrait mode in Lightroom, most of the people use GCam only for its exceptional portrait mode option!
