Hello,
I would like to remove the smiley's from the default 4.1 Messaging app, can anyone help me with this? I have located them in the framework-res.apk, but I can only replace them with others, not completely remove them.
Does anyone know a solution?
Is that because your not a very smiley person ?

It's because I hate the ugly green alienlike smileys and I prefer normal text smileys.

Go into settings in the messaging app -> extra settings -> take the [X] out from emoji support.

There is no 'extra settings' in the messaging app. :/

Of course there is. It's not really a menu it's just a heading in the list if you tab settings.
That's all there is.

Well, that's too bad. I thought that's a standard feature. For me it's like this:

That's a screenshot from my Galaxy Nexus But the app is the same on both. But looks like I got a modified messaging app...
And copying the app from a Galaxy Nexus ROM to an Inc S isn't a good idea I guess.

You can try it if you want But I guess the resolution will break it You can surely find a similar app in one of the ROMs in the IncS section. Try Paranoid Android. If the app has got the feature there you can just copy it
I'll try some other ROMs, thanks for the help anyway.

for miui?
You can try an app called "package manager ad"
Appbrain.com
Search for an app, click on it and check your browsers address bar.
Example:
Wallpaper HD = www.appbrain.com/app/wallpaper-hd/com.wallpaper.pro
So now we know that it's "com.wallpaper.pro".

For MIUI theming, go to data/system/customized_icons_1 to get the correct name.

its more work then changing just backround becuase i did it and the whole dialer and messaging app looks reaaalllly bad since there is still white parts in and other parts that are meant for the white backround so it means someone needs to theme it and i dont think many people really care too much about that
I agree with you it would be cool if someone could theme it. I'm a noob to most of this stuff

I think I could provide a non root solution. But it would create 2 types of settings app on your phone. Not 100% sure on this though...
What is you solution?

Isn't there an option in settings>display and buttons and gestures to set a capacitive button as menu? I'm running a port of the One on my HTC Evo LTE, but don't know if official gas it or if our devs just threw it in. I know it existed in the sense 4 software.

Root your phone, unlock bootloader and install custom recovery, then install XPOSED framework and install the menu button mod. Otherwise install a custom Rom with the setting enabled.
Or if you don't want to do any hacking, wait for HTC to possibly fix this.

If you're using sense 5.5 the option is already there. Just pinch the homescreen (as if you wanted to add a widget) and click the "Blinkfeed On" button on the top left which will change to "Blinkfeed Off"
