Chrome compared to android browser - Nexus 4 General

I'm tired of chrome on the nexus 4 anyone else feel the same. I can't stand the lag when scrolling
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app

If you have lag when scrolling it isn't chrome, it's something else. I don't get a single bit of lag on this phone in any app.

Man its annoying, I'm trying out dolphin browser , very smooth, if it isn't chrome then what could it be, I ha e plenty of free memory ram and SD.

I love Chrome on my N4, never had lag or any issues

After the chrome update last week it has been great here. Much improved from the previous version..

[Q] Facebook not loading

Anyone having issues with Facebook loading up both on the web browser and on the market app?
I wonder if it's just not playing nicely with Honeycomb and won't play well with the browser due to Flash support??
Any thoughts. I'm very confused on this...

Just tried both. No issues here.
Mine didn't work until I removed the fb widget from the home screen.

The app stinks right now. I've saved the web version as an icon on my homepage. Looks great but I've noticed some lag using the forms on facebook

The facebook apps works for me, although the size, proportions and orientation all look pretty funky. By using facebook through the browser I havnt had any major issues other than when u click on a picture, it brings up their new picture viewer. The always seems to hang on me or I have problems closing it.

My favorite browser

So I own the nexus 7 for 3 days now and I love it. But I've never been a fan of the chrome browser cause I think its too inconsistent for me. So I tried many different browser:
Mozilla: OK but sometimes not fluid
Maxton: nice and fluid with ability to support flash but sometimes not responsive
Chrome: default browser, fairly fast rendering but can stutter from time to time.
So I've been trying Dolphin browser since yesterday and I love the experience. Easy access to bookmarks, fast rendering, fluid with little to no lag, just an all around solid browser that I would recommend to anyone. What about you guys, which browser do you use and which one would you recommend?

I like opera a lot. But that was when using my galaxy s2. Now that u just got a nexus 7, I think I'll try dolphin on it. I never really liked dolphin on the s2,but maybe a tablet will be better.

I personally like Chrome with this: http://droidnerds.com/content/how-to-permanently-have-desktop-mode-on-chrome-mobile-for-android/
But of course that is just my opinion.
Boat browser is my favorite with Dolphin browser not far behind. Both support flash and they offer all the options you could even need. Performance is top notch too!

I'm in the same boat as you, I use Dolphin on the Nexus due to Chrome stuttering on some sites, and the Lastpass integration is nice too. But Dolphin sometimes just closes and disappears for no reason which I haven't been able to figure out. No force close message or anything.
I like dolphin as well. The fullscreen mode is great. But I use FF Beta for flash videos.
I've heard good things about Boat Browser as well.

+1 ... Love the Full screen mode.
chrome drives me nuts with the zoom box whenever I try to click a small link, and firefox seems to constantly follow the wrong link, and doesn't allow you to correct and redirect even though it's highlighted the correct link after the fact. I also don't like how firefox reloads when you click "back" rather than loading a cache. Guess I'm going to have to try dolphin, but FML how hard can it be to get an awesome browser from google of all companies...

I totally understand what you're saying. I'm coming from an iPad 3, which is honestly a great tablet despite apple being a bunch of douchebags lol, and safari works flawlessly. ..I mean FLAWLESSLY it is incredibly smooth and fast. If Google could do the same with chrome that would be much appreciated. But in the mean time Dolphin is very good.

I actually really like that feature, but I don't use chrome because it's sluggish on heavy pages.
I'm bouncing back and forth between Chrome, Boat and Dolphin with no clear winner yet.
I've side loaded the dolphin beta with dolphin engine, works for me

I prefer the stock ICS browser. You need root to use it, though.

I guess whatever the latest version is. I didn't have any problem downloading it. After a couple days of use and trying other browsers, Dolphin is hands down the best browser for the N7 in my opinion.

Dolphin and Boat are browsers, they are just browser skins on the stock browser.
Only Opera Mobile, Chrome and Firefox offer TRUE browsers.
Out of these, Opera Mobile wins by a mile, it's twice as fast as all the others, and it's rendering seems to be more how the page should look when viewed on a tablet.
ICS Browser+
What about ICS Browser+ ? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.beansoft.browserplus (i don't know if it's posible to install on Nexus 7)
I used it on my Iconia Tab A500 (I'm waiting for my new Nexus 7 now) instead of stock browser.. It look like stock browser, but it's a bit faster and better.

Future - major Chrome for Android update. - ***Version 23 more info**

For all Nexus 7 owners who would love to use Chrome for Android, but can't stand its laggy /jerky performance and the fact that the iOS is already on v21 & we're stuck on v18, there is a giant ray of sunshine!
There is reference to a Milestone '24' for many of the highlighted issues, so hopefully Google will give us a major update around the time Chrome desktop is updated to 24, probably around November, in time for 4.2?
http://goo.gl/D5gPa
hopefully you are right...chrome is quite laggy on nexus 7.
it´s a shame...
noob here, but will Chrome ever get Flash on the nexus 7? Havent ran across too many problems with not having it yet. Any other better browsers out there?

No, Flash for mobile devices has been discontinued by Adobe. So Google dropped official support from Chrome.
For what it's worth guys, I find Chrome to be smooth as butter on the Nexus 7. It totally sucks on other devices though.
Chrome is OK on my nexus 7 but awful on my nexus s, its literally unusable.

Sideload stock aosp browser, it s the best browser on N7 imo can play flash flawlessly. Firefox Beta also can play flash but it crashes sometimes.

When you compare it to the stock AOSP browser on the N7, it is far less smooth, especially in terms of scrolling.
Javascript performance is slower, according to Sunspider. I expect all these things to be fixed in the next big update.
On Chrome desktop there was a big jump in performance from v18 to v19, like 20% faster javascript rendering in Sunspider, so hopefully these changes will be incorporated into the Android version.
I use the Boat browser on the N7 and Chrome on the S3. Boat has flash, so all good there.
Sent from a galaxy far away!
would also recommend the aosp browser.. used to use chrome on my s2 but the aosp browser is by far the smoothest

Cool, if you're happy with it now, it can only get better with a major update, however IMO it is far less polished than the current AOSP browser.
It kills me they removed the option to disable "Open page in overview" in Chrome.. I hate with a passion constantly having to zoom in every time I go to a new page.. Opera is the same way and it's beyond mind boggling why they insist on keeping it this way. AOSP browser > *
Chrome is awful all around IMO.
It'll take something of glory to get me off of Dolphin Browser.
Really looking forward to an update. Chrome is stuttering for me.

Chrome sucks on my nexus 7. When updated to ota 4.1.2 the first thing I did was test out chrome, then I removed chrome via titanium.

I have now tried Chrome, Firefox, Dophin, Opera and stock browser. They're all quite nice (except stock), and speed-wise it's no big difference. So try them all and choose the one you like best.
I like chrome because of it's smoothness and ease of tab switching. UI is better in chrome than dolphin in my opinion.
Dolphin with Jetpack plugin
Nothing works better than dolphin with dolphin jet pack

The stock android browser is by far the best on my.smothest and fastest. i discussed it with some phone riviewers, and they didnt anderstand why the nexus 4 comes with chrome as stock browser when the stock android browser is just faster overall.. offcorse this is what i have found out. you may have other opinions
Try boat browser.

I'm using Naked Browser. Simplistic philosophy, and so intuitive, like swipe from edge or quick tap on open tab to close it, not to mention that this is lightest browser for CPU-GPU
Thank u all,
Dolphin is FLASH GORDON! with jetpack
See this xda discussion about how browsers like Dolphin, Boat, Ninesky, and others spy on you, violating your privacy and wasting your battery power, bandwidth, and CPU. The thread is very long and at one point Dolphin removed the tracking but it now tracks again.
I made Naked Browser in response to all of this crap. No spying or monitoring of any kind, fast, and full-featured. This is a not for profit app that's free in the Google Play Store. The xda discussion about it is here.

browser wars

hey guys,
im on the lookout for a nice browser
which one you like most ? i personally like the stock one in tablet mode, but it fails to load some webpages properly ... havent found anything with good functionality/speed/smoothness compromise yet. chrome is nice, but it needs soooo much ram, cant even have 3 tabs open without having to reload them after switching.. awful.
i was hoping ucbrowser would answer my call, but something peculiar happened, i tried the tablet version first, just out of curiosity and it worked great, fast quite smooth with occasional hiccups. but the phone version was just horrible, lagged like i was running it on a single core 600mhz cpu. just pathetic... anyone know what the deal is with that ?
cheers
Naked browser
dolphin but now has some bugs, Opera......
the hemelywo
Chrome or Opera mini
Im using chrome, just becouse its syncing with my pc, but to be honest, the stock browser is my second best one!
Sent from my LG-P990 using xda app-developers app
thanks, ill try the naked browser
i didnt like to browse forums with chrome, the text is uneven, eg posts are displayed in a much larger font than the quotes in the same posts, so constant zooming is needed if you want to read the quote. bs..
browser
Chrome and Opera
I'am using this amazing browser named Puffin Browser and it's blowing my mind atm with its lightning speed!
I use "Lightning Browser"! It's just incredibly more fast than Chrome and than all browsers i used
I like AOSP/CM stock browser on kitkat. Puffin is fast indeed but that's it. I also use Opera mini for its great rss support.
