If you like AOSP go for cm10 , if you like TW go for any of the xxlsc

If you are looking for a Samsung JB ROM, I would recommend Ultimate XXLSC ROM. I've been using Ultimate's (joosh) ROMs since XXLS2, and they are really good. But always do a full wipe before flashing the ROM, using a safe kernel, to avoid any issues. Follow my guide here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2024481
using ultimate rom v5.1 at 240dpi...but at 240dpi the ink effect is gone....not using a live wallpaper!

1) which ics roms r safer as of now?
2) is criskelo rom safe?
The latest stock ROMS that came out last month or so I've heard. They say brick issue is solved now with the CFROOT 5.6.Can't confirm though I wish someone could.
All cyanogenmod roms are said to have a kernel that's "safe" from the brick bug and the aosp ui of cyanogenmod roms greatly trump in comparison to the touchwiz ui!
I'd recommend CM9 roms as they're free from the brick bug.

As long as you flash abyss kernel before you flash the rom, you ll be fine. Also with the rom make sure you run a safe ketnel like franco, speedmod and a few mirea

If you want a pure stock ics, try a XXLRT. The german version, ,you can download it from sammobile.com . And flash it through PC-odin. For me it is the most smooth and stable stock ics rom. I have used it for about 3months without any problems or FC.

You have to know, that the battery save mode slows your phone. I try it o my stock XXLRK, and the result is that the phone is very laggy and slow.
Some people us it for longer battery life, but the price is a slow phone.

The base of RocketRom v12 is XXLRT, not XXLRK. RocketRom v12 is a great custom rom, with a lot of nice features. So it is a better choice than a stock rom if you want all nice features out of the box.
But I thought you wanted a pure stock ics rom
If you ask me which is faster My favorites 3 is:
3. Stock XXLRT - good stock rom, if you want it pure stock (used it for a long time)
2. Alliance Final XXLRT - great custom rom, if you prefer ICS, try it with HC 4.3b kernel, rock solid, and very smooth (used it since realeased, until the JB leaks become usable for daily use)
1. Alliance XXLSC beta1.1 - best custom JB rom, if you like JB. Working without any problems since it is realesed, with all fancy suff available from JB, and it is buttery smooth. (i liked it, because it has a option to flash it pure lite, without any samsung app, after flashing you can choose which one you want it back. It feels like you have your own custom rom. And it is just perfect)
Ultimate jb rom v5.1
I know you said ics but try this one too

LRK is the baseband
The ics installed is LR8
this is the middle eastern and pakistan release. Its so much better, it beats most of the customs. Its the last releases so mostly fixed.

I have a Galaxy S and I'm wishing to downgrade from
Jellybean 4.2.1
to ICS 4.0.4
Can someone please give me a guide of how to do this?
Thanks in advance.

May I ask why you're downgrading? I can't remember how fast ICS was, but I find 4.2.1 almost unusable unfortunately

4.2.1 unusable?
Device: GT-i9000
Rom: JB 4.2.1 Vanilla Rootbox
Gapps +..: JusTunBean Inverted
Kernel: Mackay 0.240
Might be my device, not sure.
Currently downloading the rom in your sig, hopefully it will be faster
Yes works perfect, you can try it.
But you have i9000T in your Sig. I'm not sure if it will not create any problem.
Device: GT-i9000
Rom: JB 4.2.1 Vanilla Rootbox

Kernel: Mackay 0.240
T model just has a different radio antenna thankfully, everything else is the same
Edit: Do you use apps such as Chrome, FB, Viber/whatsapp?
I only use Chrome. All others I don't use because they consume too much battery.

You have to find a ICS Rom ( Cyanogenmod for example ), do a factory reset in CWM, wipe cache and dalvik cache and reinstall the new ICS ROM.
But I don't understand why you want to downgrade, JB is much more stable and faster than ICS

Also, im on ParanoidAndoird with PIE, and on utackas kernal. Can i just wipe rom and flash trough cwm or is it safer to get back to GB and then reroot and thenm flash with cwm?
thnx in advance
utackas and cm kernels are safe. Try Ultate XXLSC v.5.1 by joosh3.

The kernel you're flashing before installing Rom doesn't matter since with v4 will be replaced by PhilZ 3.1 for XXLS7
Hey... It seems I have been long gone from the forums and had a hard time trawling through everything..
Now right now.. I'm using my galaxy note with
Baseband version N7000XXKK5
ROM - Antoniomistrettaa XXKK 9
Kernel - cf root kernel
My simple question is -
Which is the best ICS based ROM for normal usage and good battery life...
I just want a rock solid surprise stable ROM & kernel... But the choices are confusing... Please help...
And how do I go about this... Considering I'm still on 2.3.6
Tapashocked via my N7000 with SwiftKey !

Thanks... How do I go about it?
A noob proof guide will be most welcome...
(although I'm a senior member, but I'm totally out of touch since a long time)
And can I just upgrade normally?
And do all the common (daily use apps) apps and common big name title games work nicely?
Sorry if I'm apprehensive
EDIT - some big name alternatives to rocket rom will also be appreciated... Btw.. I have seen this forum & rocket rom since the inception... Although I couldn't participate due to some reasons...
Are the miui roms stable and have good compatibility?
And which JB/ICS rom is best of everyday aside from rocket rom...
Some links will be greatly appreciated...

Thanks a lot.. But I guess I'm stuck with a full wipe followed by a flash to rocket rom JB or ics...
Which one is better? JB or ICS...
So if in coming from gingerbread... I need to first do a full wipe and then install some ICS based ROM with a rooted stock kernel or something like that?
Some instructions & a link to the thread will be appreciated...
Tapashocked via my gt-I9003 with a random keyboard of my choice !
First flash a philz kernel. These are rooted stock but use the ics 3.99 version.
Philz kernel can be flashed from stock recovery. Its in the original developer tread.
Then you can flash rrv12 ics. With full wipe.
Personaly im on jb lsz official rooted rom for the netherlands. Which is good and stable.
Have fun flashing.

Thanks a lot... So first right now... I should take a back up with titanium backup... Then flash the philz kernel.. Which one to flash? Sorry if I'm sounding totally noobish
I hardly get time from clinical work...
Then I should flash rocket rom? Version 1.2 ICS?
JB not good?
Plz reply and thanks a lot for ur patience

Re: Help.... Firmware frenzy,
Make a backup with titanium but dont restore system data or settings only user apps.
Flash a kernel from philz the 4.88.4 is the latest i know of. Then flash whatever rom you like.
When flashing the rom the kernel will also be overwritten.
Rr v12 ics is fast and stable. I always used hydracore 4.3b oc.
Or try a samsung original jb rom but flash a philz kernel after the rom to get root.
The choice is up to you.

Thanks but Cm9 not for me.. Haven't a good experience in my i9003 and game and app compatibility is usually a lil risky.
I guess I'll try to go for the philz kernel JB route and if you have aosp rom in mind lemme know..

I would say if you want to use a custom jelly bean rom then i will recommend you slim bean instead of cm 10.1
If u want a good ics custom rom them cm9 is for you
For tw based ics custom rom, Criskelos rom is the best touch wiz rom.
