I am temporarily rooted on my GT-i9000 (z4root) and i dont have acess to a windows computer so i downloaded the lite version of mobile odin off the forums, got the flash kernal for my phone. Installed and gave odin privileges but the flash kernal wont install! it says cant parse package or something. I need odin to update to 2.3.6 (stock) because when i recieved this phone i was on 2.1 . And when i open up odin , it says cant find odin packages or something :/

Ok so i just rooted my sgs with superoneclick and im trying to install cwm recovery but when it reboots its starts in my normal recovery (3e) and fails during install. Can someone guide me in the right direction? This is what it says:
installing package
Finding update package
Verifying update package
E:failed to verify whole file signature
E:signature verification failed
I have tried over a wifi connection and 3g but both to no avail.
Model GT I9000M
Firmware 2.3.3
Baseband I9000UGKG3
Kernel 2.6.35.7-I9000UGKG3
[email protected]#2
Build Gingerbread.GKG3
PS I have no problem flashing using odin and starting from scratch. I just want my phone to run to the best of its ability. So please reccomend the best build, rom, theme and apps to have too.
Thanks in advance to all responses.
well 3e recovery can't flash unsigned zips from recovery so try flashing another kernel via odin that has support for i9000m
Any ideas on the best kernel to flash that supports i9000m?

Since you know how to flash. Go to this link to download and flash JVT pda, kg3 modem and csc with 512pit in odin. It wont bootloop and then you can flash any jvt kernel as pda. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1102881

I am having the same problem on my Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000.
Will the solution you have posted work for me too?
Yes. You can flash any kernel for gt-i9000 you want via odin. But make sure you flash correct version for your firmware or it will give you bootloop

Many thanks! Going to try this now. Been wanting 4.0.1 on my SGS for ages.

Yes, it should be flashed using Odin3, together with a kernel, will work better than ROM manger, so go here and follow the instructions.
Check this out! You , YES! you are an " Android ". Not your phone but U.

1. Flash Rootable GB Firmware then root + install CWM [Guide]
2. After flashing and rooting install Mobile Odin.
3. Download Chainfire's RE-PACKED ICS from Here
4. Flash downloaded tar file using Mobile Odin
Thats it.

you can change csc, but it wipes so not suggested on stock kernel. Flash safe kernel-> wipe->flash stock LR6 using pc odin and then you should be able to recieve OTA.
Or wait for few days for the LR9 rom (odin version) and then flash it using pc odin.

you can first root (dr.ketan's 1st method) and then flash either speedmod or hydracore (both are safe and smooth) using mobile odin or k-tools OR directly flash either of these kernels using pc odin in download mode (it will raise yellow triangle and all, search and use triangle away for it)
You can check a short and nice guide for rooting and flashing kernel in my sig (first link, point #2)
After flashing safe kernel, boot in cwmr and wipe all 3, reboot.
(you can change csc after flashing safe kernel if you want to)
Restart Note in download mode, connect to pc and select LR6 tar file (stock firmware) in PDA field of pc odin, hit start.
OR
If you have Indian GB firmware downloaded then simply flash it using pc odin without flashing any kernel, then wipe and update to LR6 using either pc odin or Kies and then LR9 via OTA. (Edit- I am doing this right now, was on LR6 with lot of customizations and OTA was no success (2 failed attempts), flashed GB using odin and now updating to LR6 using kies, will try OTA then
Feel free to PM me if you still have questions.

I guess this pre-rooted GB rom includes custom kernel (CF root kernel I believe), so I don't think you would be able to update using kies. Either flash stock un rooted GB firmware or follow the long method.
If you think this is too complicated then wait for few days, I am sure Dr.ketan will upload pc odin version of LR9 once it is available, flash it using odin, till then use your phone as it is
Hi all, i tried to flash a kernel and the device shut down in the middle.
it won't go into recovery, just download.
Went to my last resort... odin.
Tried connecting to my computer it says "device not recognized" tried searching for solutions re installed drivers, installed kies... nothing helped.
please help me.
thanks in advance :[
************ UPDATE **************
the third post sums it... :{
****** UPDATE #2 ************
Incase anybody cares, the problem with the odin stuck was a bad download and a bad cable... lucky me. thanks for helping /trying to help
Are you able to put it in download mode. Then it is working. What odin version you use. There seems that you need to be on 1.87 odin version sure. Just google it.
did you try this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997
yep tried it, when i connect the phone to a windows xp machine it pops a "Found new hardware"->"Gadget Serial" which it doesn't find.
i installed the drivers from there :{ Nothing.
************* UPDATE ************
got it to work somehow with enough uninstall and install,
downloaded speedmod (that's the only kernel i found with odin package) :{
tried to flash it and it's stuck like this
Your doing it all wrong. Why are flashing just the Kernel with Pit file
I suggest you not to mess with the pit file. Download a Stock ROM and flash it through odin and see without the pit file. You can always root it later

the thing is i don't want to reflash a rom. the only thing that go screwed was the flashing of a new kernel -> ergo i need a fresh install of a kernel. i managed to install philz got in reflashed the kernel for my rom (NX -> Stunner) worked flawlessly (15 hours after i needed the phone badly lol)
