Hi there,
I would like to develop a virtual keyboard for Windows Phone 8. Can I use visual studio 2012 and C++? What is the best place to start? Is it available some examples / documentation?
Thanks for your help.

Can I develop a new IME (Input Method Editor) for the native keyboard in Windows Phone 8?
Thanks.
As far as I know: no, you can't do anything to alter the keyboard besides the predefined layouts Microsoft provides for certain Textboxes (e.g. you can tell as textbox that it will be used for numeric input so when focussed a numeric input field will be displayed but thats it).

Anyone use any good program for writing post-it style notes in WM6 with the stylus. You can do it in the built-in notes program but its pretty basic (no editing etc). Thanks.

I'm unsure exactly what you want to achieve. If it's just short details for a meeting, an address and time taken during a call for example, then whats wrong with using the transcribe feature combined with notes? That works for me and it also allows editing. If it's something more sophisticated then the next step up is pocket word which you can also use the transcriber in to recognise your handwriting as well as providing spell checking etc. I'm unsure what features that you need are missing from those options.
Take a look at PhatPad. It is very expensive however!
hi,
u could try Calligrapher(best notes writer by pocketpcmag)..u can remove Transcriber program fr the device while using this program.
Is anyone going to made a "My Mobiler" type of application for the G1?
It was very nice to have it with my Wing.
i loved it on my Wing too. i miss it!
Please report this thread to Koush
As he already have Screenshot Application Relaying it to any IP Socket can make a Video Streaming of Onscreen on G1 then only Catching Mouse and Keyboard Events from PC to G1 is require and mapped and channels to Device can be done to Make such Applications
Bump!
Did anyone ever find an app that does anything remotely like this? I'd love to have this capability, since I'm near a desktop pretty much all day and could benefit greatly by responding to messages through a PC based console.

Someone, please do it! I used MyMobiler constantly on my previous WinMo phone (T-Mobile MDA). I would pay to have its equivalent for the Android T-Mobile G1. I haven't rooted my G1 (yet) but would absolutely do it if it was required for running a MyMobiler-like app.
Just think of it:
- Type text messages using your keyboard.
- View your mobile screen on your desktop.
- Control your mobile by using desktop keyboard and mouse.
- Copy/Cut/Paste text between mobile and desktop.
- Capture mobile screen.
- Drag and drop files to your mobile.

i looked in to this a little for a project i am working on (Droid Explorer). I found that /dev/input/event1 is the touch events, /dev/input/event2 is the trackball events, /dev/input/event3 is the keyboard and buttons, i cant figure out what /dev/input/event0 and /dev/input/event4 are for.
I tried writing to the file with events that were "recorded" but was unable to write to it. That is as far as I got when I was looking in to it, I put it on the back burner for now.
This would definitely be awesome to get going
Hmm, im not a dev or anything but wouldn't it be somewhat easy to redirect the emulator in the SDK to use the phone instead of the files in the SDK?

it works realy slow so its not for daily use (and after a time of use, the android turns into a reboot), but i think in the sorcecode you can find something that can help u
Hey guys there is one now!
[Tool] Android Screencast (open-source)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=557717
Go search for mymobiler at code.google.com and vote for it.
I want something like this too and I can't root my phone...
Does the VNC Viewer work over USB? (On Windows Mobile it make a RNDIS connection over USB so I could use TCP/IP programs like Web/FTP/VNC Servers...)
MyMobiler for Android is good solution
For those who have used MyMobiler on WM, I just read on there website that MyMobiler now supports Android! I tested it and it works on my Inspire

RPN option
I don't think this is what you're looking for . . . BUT for us old engineering type geezers, there is a great calculator option available.
If any of you are familiar with the HP41 series of calculators (HP41CV, HP41CX), made in the early/mid 80's, you'll know they are considered classics. I still have mine from 1982 (as my sole calculator). So does my brother.
ANYWAY . . . there is a website, www.HP41.org, that is a "museum" to these calculators. It also includes EMULATORS of these scientific calculators.
The PC version of the HP41 is truly amazing. Whoever did the graphic interface is a genius. It looks and moves (clicks) just like a video of the real thing, using your mouse, or your keyboard's numerical keypad for simple arithmetic.
There is also a version for PocketPCs. Graphically, it is not as sophisticated as the Windows PC version, but it is still quite good.
WARNING: This calculator uses RPN (Reverse Polish Notation) input. So it has a learning curve involved. However, if you are addicted to RPN notation, and can't go back to using nested parentheses for even the most basic of computations, here it is, free.
Go to http://www.hp41.org
Click on "Emulation" in the left hand column.
Under the section, PocketPC, click on the link, "eV41."
Download the zip file to your PC.
Unzip.
Activesync your TP.
It will load a copy both on your PC and your TP.
Enjoy.
However, you don't really want the eV41 on your PC. Uninstall it, and go back to Emulation page, and download the link, V41, for your Windows PC. You will be impressed.
Hello,
I've been wanting to write some small hacks for my TouchPro in C# and noticed a problem with it - WM has a limit of processes so writing many small apps doesn't make sense and it's not possible to register a C# library as a service.
Has anyone created an application that reads some config file and loads all DLLs defined there? It's easy to do, but I don't want to reinvent to wheel if it's already done.
Does anyone know if such a tool exists?
Thank you.
Hi there,
I would like to start coding for WP8 - however, there are no books yet. That is why I just installed VS Express 2012 for Windows Phone and try to make a flashlight app which just has one button that switches on or off the led of my Lumia 920. I know how to make button, but I don't find any code that shows how to use the flashlight...
Can you please help me...?
For managing the flashlight use the camera api, I think.
There is no book for WP8 yet (or not? ), but you can easliy teach on the WP7.5, because it's a subset of WP8 API. For the rest use MSDN or even the Object Browser.
Why do you need a book? You can download documentation from visual studio or use msdn.

Of course you can do this. But it's much easier to learn using book thank msdn+ google. Especially if you haven't used silverlight\wpf before.
Try this, it is for Windows Phone 7 but it's free!

There's a book from Microsoft Press called "Windows Phone 8 Development Internals", I've recently started reading it and it seems like a good one.
