Not sure how you can overclock the CPU without access to a custom kernel, which requires an unlocked bootloader.

no, you don't need a custom kernel, BUT you've got to have a module that 'replaces' the 'cpu-clock-module' (don't know how it's named ), which is in the kernel, at boot that way, doixanh made it possible to overclock the sony ericsson xperia x8

Well, it "works", but not really doing anything (well, choos multitask, wich works some better)... I think doxianh did very good with the gingerbread

Well, I don't use overclock, so I can't say anything from that.
But I think that gingerdx don't really needs that v6 script... Have tried since other modes (including agressive ones) and haven't really encountered problems, instability, but it is deffinetley not better, than the "stock" dx...

Me too...I brick my phone after using it. Luckily i follow this link (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11934117&postcount=7) to solve the problem...^^
I think gingerdx already good enough, there is no need to use supercharger. I used fast reboot, OC and latest gingerdx(V10) and everything work well..^^
Thanks to doixanh..!!!
For me has run fine on dx 010 and 012, the only problem is that values doesn't stick.

I'am using 748mhz parasmi OC kernel. When I set more than 604mhz after some time phone just got stuck. I'am using parasmi EmaNon rom to. What Iam doing wrong? And what I should do?
Sent from my piece of **** using Tapatalk.
You have to move Dalvik cache on SD-Ext in order to use OC kernel (for emanoN ROM), if you already have it there - your device can't handle OC.
I moved it to sd-ext. I think You don't understand my problem. I can turn on phone with installed OC kernel, I can set more than 604mhz, but when I set it, after some time, when I'am doing something I just got stuck. It looks like it works, but it works not excellent. So maybe someone other can help me? It's really big problem for me, cause I love games.

True!
Are you sure it doesn't go over 320, if you set your CPU for examle between 200 and 600 it will run from 200 to 600 not 600, try to set min and Max at a number more than 320 and if you have reboot then full wipe and reflash your rom.
PS. You said you set your Max at more And it returns to 320, what Is returning the Max or the frequency of the cpu? And are sure you hit aply ?

For experience of 4.2.2 we need many requirements, ex:
unlocked BL
A new kernel (for bugless roms)
Enough knowledge for cooking kernel(we need to partition internal memory{for heavy 4.2.2} which was not necessary on gb)
Jtag tools (cooking kernel is a sensitive progress & hard bricks is so regular)
& just some developers have the knowledge & tools for cooking
#& I'm pretty sure if a recognized developer cook that kernel there will be a lot of roms for working on it

Please stop your petty arguement. It makes no sense.
And yes, kernels do have a "saturation" point if I understand correctly.
Thing is, we do not receive security fixes for our kernels like on a linux install.
So yes, our kernels can reach a point when they be deemed insecure or vulnerable because of a remote vulnerability.
But since we root our phones and flash roms made by anyoneAtall security is the last of our worries usually..
Is this what you mean?
um..no. i guess it wont make any changes in performance.

Dont need to reflash a KERNEL.
Because on each boot the ramdisk is copied to the phone, and is like new installation.
Only need to delete cache files every month or every 3 months, when you feel your phone lag.
