What syncs between WP8 and Windows 8?
IE10 passwords, etc, please tell what things sync. Do APP settings sync ie say I have a news app on WP8 and Windows 8. So if I select certain topics to show in the news app on WP8, so will this automatically change the settings of news app on Windows 8 also? Using my Hotmail account on both devices.
Say I have some app (available both on WP8 and Windows 8, using same core etc) and in that app I can star mark (on Windows 8 app) certain articles which I find favorite, so will those articles be automatically star marked when I use that app on WP8?

Hmm, IE10 passwords is an interesting one. I use lastpass for password synching, I don't particular trust browsers to save passwords. Since there is a LastPass app, you can access your vault on any computer and sync that way,
With news reader, I use NextGen Reader on Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8. It's a google reader client. The stars sync.
Nothing at all syncs out of the box between Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8.
Now, some apps will let you use the same account (aka, sign in to the same Google Reader account as mentioned above), and they both will sync from the same source, but unfortunately, the two are entirely different pools.
The app may or may not have its own account like Google reader.
Will the app Sync app settings between App on windows 8 and same app on windows phone 8, using my Microsoft account.
Coz both require Microsoft account to use.

Like I already stated, nothing syncs that way.
This is sad. The idea is brilliant for success of both windows 8 and windows phone 8.

Hi guys.
Does anyone know where outlook notes are "sync" inside our little monster?
I mean: I have a couple of apps that tell me they did the sync with my outlook notes and galaxy note, but I am not able to find them... are they lost?
or maybe the apps are not able to transfer the notes simply because it is not possible?
I am using for example a free app called MyPhoneExplorer: it works beautifully but this is a bug (maybe) or simply I am a dumb...
thanks to all.
SOLVED
Solved.
The app MyPhoneExplorer automatically creates a link to the MyPhoneExplorer resident app which creates a specific notes app on my Note.
Great piece of software and the phone app is very simple...
The app is free but I am going to support the developer with a donation because he did a great job for free....
cheers.
Hi,
is there an app like chronobis (for windows mobile)
or maybe one like "Outlook Mail" (for IOS)
I'd like to have a convenient way of access my Exchange mail and calendar
without using active sync etc .
has anyone any ideas or successfully used an app for this on the Note?
Gary
Hi!
You mine to have a app like outlook? Not to have data on your phone only "interface" to your exchange account? I use the normaly EMAIL App with "push" activated, nearly like "online" account.
regards
i think the built in exchange client uses active sync to access outlook.
I use Touchdown (free trial available on market) to access my works ms exchange server as touchdown uses different protocols and my work blocks active sync.

I suggest you have a look at www.syncdroid.net
They have a comparative grid and an honest review of almost every good sync app for this purpose of syncing with outlook.
By the way, companion link is thier favourite... but then it just depends on what YOU need!!
Why you ask for OWA and then ask for an app ?
OWA runs in your browser.
I too use touchdown for exchange access w/o active sync... . Works well . .
FWIW prior to gb 2.3.6 (but > froyo) there was a funny obscure boog (ssl related android boog) that caused booth touchdown (in owa mode) and owa in browser to malfunction.
Because of this and that i use linux on my worksations and laptops full time. . .I use a widget called davmail (goto sourceforge to find it). DAVmail is a sort of exchange proxy that turns owa into other common mail and calendaring protocols. . .
It is not an app. . .but an application you run on a desktop, workstation, server etc... Then you can configure just about any email app (on about any device) to pop or imap email to your davmail install. . Etc.etc.etc.. it worked fine using whatever the email app is that comes stock or with common roms for an SGT.

Intersting site but no owa sync that I could see
I might try some of the software regardless

Yep OWA is accessible via the browser but isn't offline
so I effectively want to save it's data. there are program/apps that work by effectively attaching to echange as an "OWA" client and bring the info over

Hi, I am using a Mac and a Galaxy Note. At work, we use Outlook for calendar and appointments. What is the best way/app to sync between Outlook and Galaxy Note? Thanks.

how many times?
Havent tried myself but something is here
iCal can sync with Google Calendar, and Outlook 2011 can sync with iCal.
So: Google Calendar --> iCal --> Outlook 2011 for Mac
1) Set up you Google Calendar in iCal.
To do this, open iCal, go to Preferences, select the Accounts tab, click the '+' (plus) sign to add an account. In the Add account dialogue, select Gmail from the drop down menu. Enter your Gmail (or Google apps) email address and password and click Create. Proceed to Outlook 2011.
2) Configure iCal sync in Outlook 2011.
Go to Outlook Preferences and choose Sync Services in the bottom of the window. Tick the Calendar check box. In the accounts window it will say 'On my computer'. This is correct, as iCal does the sync'ing to your computer.
Wait a few minutes (or perhaps close/open Outlook) to see your calendar entries appear. You can always double check that they appear in iCal first

I use MyPhoneExplorer for that purpose - a very reliable way to sync with Outlook (and create backups for contacts, sms, etc).

I bet you haven't tried Google.
I wonder why the search function in PlayStore does not find this app. Using google, I found it under Google Play. However, it states that it is not compatible with my Galaxy Note! Anybody knows what is going on?

assuming you have PC at work: google calendar sync, beware - you need admin rights to install it, then it sits quietly in system tray and sync at given intervals
I have a S3 and a lumia 820. I really like a bit of both. One app I am always dissatisfy on a S3 is the stock email app! Is there any email app like on the windows 8 phone for an android device?
Thanks,
Wayne
For which protocol?

Hi

Thanks
long time iphone user here just moved over to the moto x. The only thing that is hard for me is the lack of outlook's suggested contacts. IOS was great about picking up on those so I could email I had ever emailed from my phone without the contact being saved. Android doesn't seem to do this auto so I'm hoping there is a setting somewhere that I can enable this priceless functionality.
Did you check the Outlook's app in the play store? It might be able to do that.

That feature is missing with Android's Exchange ActiveSync connection. I know iOS devices can sync contacts subfolders (which is what the Suggested Contacts folder is).

Interesting. This is a feature I'm going to miss coming from the HTC mail app.
Does Touchdown use it's own address book, or does it use the standard one?
