[Q] Transfer AVI files to Kindle Fire HD - 7" Kindle Fire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just received my new Kindle Fire HD 7 inches. I am desperately trying to copy my movie files (avi, mpeg, mkv) from PC to the KFHD. I earlier had a Kindle Fire and had no problems copying these files. I managed to copy all the e-books and 3rd party apk apps, however having problems with the movies. I am pretty ignorant with usage of these tablets so appreciate if someone would help me out. Much appreciated. Thanks.

If you don't have root access, sideload the MX Player:
http://www.1mobile.com/mx-player-95964.html
Then USB hook your KFHD to your PC and do a simple file transfer (copy & paste) from your computer to a folder on the kindle
IF your PC don't recognize your KFHD (the xp desktop i have a home do not no matter how hard i try) you can transfer the files via Wi-Fi using ES explorer or you can upload them to your amazon cloud drive and then download them to your kindle.
hope it helps.

Mx player play all files try it no root need it

How can I watch movies from my PC via nexus?

My PC and Nexus connected to same network over wifi. I tried to do subject over estrongs file explorer but there is no result I can't play any video file unless I coppied it to the phone. I what to watch video streamming from the PC, without needs copping. I guess there must be special app for this task. But wich one is it?

I haven't been able to stream from my pc, but I can use ES to copy a file to my sdcard and play it via rock player. I'm pretty sure there are served based apps like OrbLive that allows you to stream from your desktop, but they require you to install a service on your pc. My pc is cluttered enough as it is, so personally I'm against that route.
Curious as to any other options you uncover.

i believe gmote allows some video streaming though i'm unsure of which file types.
Gmote won't do divx avi. Otherwise it's a perfectly workable solution for mp4 and any format that android natively supports.

Perfectly will be to watch avi using estrongs file explorer over samba via yxplayer. But any of files can't be open direct from the PC in estrongs file explorer at least. They must be first coppied to the phone. How can I open files direct from PC like if I do that from PC to PC?

If you're rooted - look in Development forum, there's a post about how to mount the Samba server path as one of the system directories using binaries. This would allow you to do exactly what you want to do.
You might also try using RockPlayer Beta as the media player.

Make moved mp4's show in Videos?

Wife got one of these for Xmas.... Kindle Fire HD 32gb.
I've got a bunch of mp4 videos that I am transferring to it, but they don't show up in the stock launcher under videos (on Device).... I can get to them using the ES file manager, but just checking there isn't something special you need to do to make them show up instead.
Use the personal videos app and the will play just fine; if you want to play other formats use the MX Player, it just plays everything you trow at it.

Were they all the same type (i.e. MP3, WMA (Media Player), M4A (iTunes), etc.)? Depending on the audio player you have, and whether or not your files have DRM protection, you may not be able to play them all.

Sideloading ebooks to nook hd

I spoke with B&N tech support and was told that it is impossible to sideload ebooks to my nook. In the past, this was evidently possible. One of the reasons I bought the Nook was to be able to create a sideloaded library. Is it possible to sideload ebooks purchased from B&N or are there other ebooks that may be purchased that can be sideloaded.

You should be able to connect your Nook HD to your PC over USB and copy over your ebooks (e.g., epub files) to one of your user media content folders.

Does your Nook show up in Windows Explorer when you connect it to the PC via USB?

It is possible to sideload book's purchased from b and n if you remove the drm. google remove drm on nook books i would post a link but im not allowed to yet. i can also try to help.
For eBooks that you have already and are trying to add to your nook, i would try calibre. It's easy to send books to devices using it

Uploading books via USB to Fire (5th)

I'm using calibre and has several books there. I'm trying to move them into the Fire with USB.
I've send them to the device memory card but they aren't shown in the kindle books app. Do I need to refresh the list of books on the device?
