MTP solution script for Ubuntu Unity - Nexus 4 General

First off let me say this is NOT my work.
Credit and support need to go to Lorenzo Faleschini. Here is his Google + https://plus.google.com/u/0/112669767758185770835/posts
I reached out to the Ubuntu community for help with MTP and he posted a solution.
It works wonderfully, check out the blog post here:
http://penzoditutto.blogspot.it/2012/12/android-mtp-devices-40-mount-scripts.html

I have been also struggling for a very long time to get MTP working with my Nexus 4 on Ubuntu but finally got it working with brilliant tutorial found in here
htt p:// bernaerts.dyndns.org/linux/ 268-ubuntu-automount-any-mtp-device
( just stick the link together - I have too few posts to post an outside link )

I have tested it personally on Cm7-R.C1 and on the FR17 Rom.but there is no reason why it should not work on other Kernels as well.
I am posting a few Screens for you guys and as you can see lxde is already pre-installed for you guys.

USB Web Cam? Video Output? Or am I just dreaming? haha

Since my nook color is now running CM7.2 KANG rom, it's SO MUCH MORE USEABLE. Fast, snappy. Great!
So...once again I am working to turn it into a good secondary device to compliment my laptop at college. But I cannot help but wonder...
1.) Would a USB web cam be possible? With USB host turned on, would it be possible for the nook to use it as the "Nook's" camera?
2.) Would it be possible to output the nook's screen to another display, perhaps via a micro usb to hdmi or something of the sort?
You need to know your way around linux for those
1.Only through external app atm , not usable till someone code a wrapper
2.Should be possible , read external displays section on http://sven.killig.de/android/N1/2.2/usb_host/
You'll probably need to compile those modules for the nook kernel , and follow the instructions on how to set it up

That link was interesting...however it is far beyond my current android knowledge. haha, Gotta learn more
Any tips or learning material I can use?
You can start by setting up a build enviorment , and learn how to compile cm/kernel
There are a lot of guides here and on xda in general that will help you
From there you can use google & xda search to learn and experience whatever you want
Good luck , and you are welcome to post in my thread ( on dev section ) if you make any progress or need specific help

Thank you very much! So I should search for Build Environments and Compiling cm/kernels? This should be a fun learning experience/hobby. I am thinking about going into programing so I guess while I'm waiting to get back to college this will be a good place to start.

[Dev] Ubuntu touch for 10.1v

With the advice of pruano I've started this tread to get some possible development of Ubuntu touch for our device going.
I've found out that Ubuntu touch is an chroot of CM10.1
and came acros a port guide.
i'm willing to give it a chance but have no experience.
maybe with the help of devs we an get it running.

I believe this is the link:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Porting
I already downloaded the repo and compiled an image but had no success running it.
Device boots but screen is black and I have no adb connection so don't know what's going on.
I need some help to debug the system in this state (logging to a file if it does even boot).
Does anyone know how to do this logging (kernel messages I believe).
Also, can I use the prebuilt kernel for Ubuntu, or I need to compile it from source?
Thanks!
Well okay, found answer to most of my questions.
Will do some testing when I have time.
I managed to boot Ubuntu Touch. :victory:
It is looking good and is a bit laggy but usable.
Currently wifi is not working and ubuntu has to be started manually from adb.
Trying to make more progress tomorrow.
Here's a screenshot for now

insert the following in userinit.sh:
#!/bin/bash
insmod /system/lib/modules/dhd.ko firmware_path=/system/etc/wifi/bcmdhd_sta.bin nvram_path=/system/etc/wifi/nvram_net.txt

Ubuntu Touch

any expert developer here?
just want to mess up with Ubuntu touch .
please let's have a project on this.
anyone can share what ever they know about ubuntu.
:good:
please first test it on your device don't ever use fake post ,we will suffer from break
Thank you all
I had been working on it. But later realized that that the patches weren't for mtk. However, i changed it and made them compatible, but it was only later when I realized that the boot partition is too small for Ubuntu boot image.
You can use my tree to continue development with proper credits

Windows 10 ARM on OnePlus 6/T

Maybe someone will be interested in running Windows 10 on OP6/T. I'm using it on my device... aaand it's not suitable for daily use, but it's pretty capable as of now.
Current status of the project:
- CPU works
- Touchscreen works
- USB works
- GPU partially works (there are some glitches, that's why driver isn't pushed yet to github)
- audio doesn't work
- wifi/bt doesn't work
- and pretty much everything else doesn't work
Thanks to https://github.com/edk2-porting for making it possible!
Tutorial to get it working is here: https://silime.github.io/2021/05/20/Windows10-on-arm64-EN/
I've recorded an video how it's done here:
Also I've tried some games on this thing, you can see results here:
NFS MW:
HoMM V:
Left 4 Dead 2:
But there is one important question... Can it run Crysis?
And answer is... Yes, it can:

Hey man, i'm thinking of installing windows 10/11 on my device "OP6" but have some question.
i saw your video of installing the OS, so when ever i want to boot-up windows i have to flash the "UEFI" image to boot-up windows ? cuz i saw some video about this , when rebooting the device normally through android or windows io reboot to android, but to boot-up windows they flash UEFI image through flashboot and it boot-up windows, right ? if so, when every i want windows i should use another PC to use windows on my mobile device
And can i use "EDK2 - v0.4.2" so that i can have wlan (wifi) support ? ( as the release say )

I noticed you haven't gotten a response.
The project is a lot more stable than it was (although still a long way to go). WiFi, Bluetooth and battery as well as a few other things have had support added since this post. I recommend joining the project's Telegram or Discord if you are interested in updates or need help with something..I don't know if I'm allowed to post the links here but it's not too hard to find
