[Q] no nandroid backup and can't pass signiture verifaction - Hero CDMA Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I was flashing a new rom to my HTC HERO cdma. The new rom didn't work got stuck on the white HTC logo. I have tried other ROMs but each one says verification failed. Is there a way to turn off signiture verification if I an't get the phone to boot?
I couldn't install rom Manager for some reason (there was a problem parsing this package). I forgot to do a nandroid backup before flashing so I can't go back to stock. Have spent hours googling, searching this forum and haven't figured it out yet.
What are my options? Help Please

That's the thing. I cannot. I have the stock recovery and need a way to changeit to a recovery that I can toggle signature verification with. I have no idea why it allowed me to flash one rome then no others. but that's the case. I was able to flash shpongle.3.5 everything seemed to go well, but It gets stuck on the White HTC logo. Noother rom I have tried will pass verification. I don't have th eoption to toggle it.

[Q] Won't reboot

I was flashing some new ROM's and, as you should do, created a clockwork back-up. The only problem is once the new ROM's weren't working, i tried to recover my back- up but it keeps saying "sd-ext.img not found. Skipping restore of /sd-ext." at the end of the recovery. And since i always keep a few extra back-ups, i tried those but a message saying that there is an error while formatting /system.
Everytime i try to boot the phone, it stays on the boot screen with the X and won't load any further.
I'm begging for anyones help
You using clockwork 3.x by any chance?
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA Premium App
yeh the latest version
I would suggest switching to an earlier clockwork or Amon Ra...
Not sure what to suggest about your backup though. You could try flashing the img files individually?
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA Premium App
I tried flashing them individually and it still stays on the X boot screen..
I fixed the problem. I just flashed a different ROM and it finally started working again. Thanks for helping out

[Q] having problems rooting and using Clockwork Recovery

I have been trying to root my phone and seem to be having problems. I have searched and found some people having the same problems but could not find an answer.
I tried using AIO Captivate Toolbox 3.0 and when it reboots in recovery and I click on reinstall packages I get this error..
signature verification failed. Installation aborted
I tried super on click and it says its rooted and there is an superuser icon on my phone but when it asks to test to see if its rooted and asks me to check my phone, nothing happens. I then install rom manager and thats installs fine and I can install Clockwork Recovery but when I get it to boot in recovery it just brings me back to the recovery 3e and I will try to reinstall packages again and it gives me this error..
e:failed to verify whole-file signature
e: signature verification failed
So I dont know what Im doing wrong. I had a Sony xperia x10 and im use to flashing and installing roms on that. This phone is much different lol

I had the same issue and I found this solution. Worked like a charm:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833423
Download the 3e_recovery_installer.zip file only and unzip.
Put your unit in Debugging mode and connect to the USB cable on your PC
Run the Install.bat file from DOS prompt and wait.
A temporary root will be performed (Doesn't matter if you're rooted or not, I was already rooted and had no issues)
Once completed, reboot into CWR. You will probably get the standard recovery screen. Select Reinstall Package and let it go. Select Reboot. (If the machine boots to the OS, go back to Rom Manager and reboot to CWR again to test.)
If the E3 Recovery screen comes up again, select Reinstall Package again. (Yes, you have to do it twice!)
As soon as it's done the CWR screen will pop up. From here on out, it should work as normal when selected from the Rom Manager app.
Hope that helps,
Now if someone would just post the Captivate AT&T default Notification sounds for me, I'd be a happy camper! I miss my old sounds!

"The system cannot find the patch specified"
"Temp root failed! install cannot continue"
Any idea how to make it work??
EDIT: My bad.. Wasn't doing it correctly lol - I wouldn't suggest this to a newb tho ^^

[Q] SOS please!!!! Overcome1.4.4 Installation Failed

Anyone please i need help!!!!!
so here is the scenario...
i flashed my asian galaxy tab to overcome1.4.4
i followed the pdf version of its install instruction...
i flashed over to JME-stock-safe via odin... ok PASSED!!!
then i flashed the kernel... ok PASSED
then upon installing the Overcome ROM 1.4.4 it stucked up to Installing new system in the CWM...
So i started back to the first step to redo the process
still no luck...
i tried it so many times still no luck...
what should i do now...
please help me out guys....
You say you flashed the overcome Kernel, did you get the sexy robot voice during the EXT4 conversion? What error are you getting IN CWM when it fails?
Sounds to me like you didn't let the system do it's conversion before you tried to flash the new ROM.
My advice would be to reflash the kernel, and let it boot after you have done so. Reboot into recovery and flash the ROM.
@btyork
yes i did hear the sexy robot converting and it even reboots at its own
then i followed the steps in installing the overcome room...
i even get to the point where it says " Installing New system"
then i've waited for it to finish..
but... i've been waiting for about an hour... so then i decided to redo the process to the top ( reinstalling again the JME-stock-safe) .... OK PASSED again
I did install the overcome kernel.... OK PASSED again
heard the sexy robot converting....
but now it didn't boot on its own...
i've been waiting again for about an hour then nothing happens...
its stocked up to " GALAXY TAB" screen
i didn't run the bootloader patch in the first placed though...
is it something connected to a signed bootloader???
what else can i do????
It may indeed be the bootloader, although I doubt it if you got the kernel installed....
Did you repartition with the hidden.pit file when you went back stock?

hey buddy we can help u fix ur problem but u hav to ask it on the thread u got the rom from.... mods close this thread please
Try recovery mode, then wipe all the data and reboot.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
If you are still able to enter recovery mode and you were wise enough to create a nandroid backup before you flashed overcome you could just use the recovery to get back to your phones state just before you flashed overcome. Sounds maybe asif your zip file may have been downloaded wrong or something ... that's why its also always a good idea to check the md5 of the Rom before you flash it ...
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
you probably tried this but just checking, did you try powering off, for some reason after the install mine just hung...it took 2 or 3 poweroffs to get it to start booting...been fine ever since.

If you load rom manager and then flash clockwork mod recovery, why are you selecting install updates? It should already be there. I assume you rooted. Once I flash, I dont install updates unless it is to reapply the 3 button fix. Have you tried just installing another rom from SD card if you can get into recovery?

[Q] How do I find out which stock ROM is for my phone

Hey guys,
I just flashed my friend's phone HTC One S T mobile with the Jelly Bean 4.2 using Cynogenmod 10.2
Now the phone is stuck in soft-bricked mode (at Quietly Briliant screen).
I still can boot into fastboot and clockworkmod.
I have tried to restore using ClockWorkMod and it kept telling me error cannot mound /SD-card so this method is a goner
Then I relocked the bootloader and tried to reflash the stock ROM but all the ones I downloaded have failed. These are the ones I downloaded
RUU_Ville_U_TMOUS_1.84.531.2_R2_Radio_0.16.31501S.16_2_10.22.31501S.10L_release_263233_signed.exe

When I ran the .exe it told me error 155 wrong signature or something
When I tried to do fastboot flash recovery recovery_signed.img, I also got signature verification failed.
Please help me find out which ROM is the original stock rom for my phone. Tell me what information I need to look up and how.
