Can't boot custom ROM - Nexus 7 General

I am writing from latest firmware 4.2.1 from googles website.
I have previously had Cyanogenmod 10.1 on my nexus 7 tablet, but I found a random zip on a forum and flashed it (like a total idiot), and it caused the OS to crash and do weird things. So I decided to reinstall.
But I can flash stock firmware and it will be just fine, but anytime I try cyanogenmod, it will stay stuck in the boot sequence or boot animation for hours (I let it sit, booting, for two hours). I've tried flashing several zips from get.cm for grouper to no avail.
I've wiped cache/dalvik etc, even used TWRP options to format everything, and I can't get cyanogenmod to boot...
Does anyone have any ideas?

MD5?
Have you tried to check the MD5 of the file, sounds like the .zip is coruptted.
That happend with my HTC Desire when i would boot, MD5 mismatch.

Do al full wipe of /data and /cache, not only dalvik.

Flashes unsuccessful, need help

Hi everyone. I'm new to the touch pad, but I have a lot of experience with the Epic4G from Sprint using CWM and flashing zip files. I have preware installed in my webos, and I have CM9 installed as well.
I've spent a few days reading threads here, but haven't been able to flash anything. I think I must be missing something.
Nothing happens when I flash zip files in CWM. I reboot to recovery, flash the zip file, wipe caches, but nothing is changed when I reboot the system. Been trying to install the unofficial with the working camera, and the oc kernel.
Thanks for any help.

Did you check md5s on the zips? Also, is your recovery updated?
As soon as I post a request for help, it works. Of course. Lol.
Yeah, I'm not sure what worked this time, but since I posted previously I set manual flash override in ROM Manager and installed the CM9 unofficial preview 7, the preview 9 update, and gapps, all went. I also installed the kernel that I mentioned, but it got stuck in a boot loop after and had to do the ROM over again.

Stuck on cyanogenmod boot animation

After restoring a backup of cm10.1 the boot animation took longer than normal and then froze. So I tried doing a clean intall of cm10.1.2 and the phone doesn't pass from the boot animation. I've already tried factory resetting, wiping dalvik/cache, flashing boot.img of cm10.1.2 through fastboot after flashing cm10.1.2.zip ... nothing works, always the same result... and if I flash some other cm compatible kernel over the rom, when I reboot the phone doesn't pass the LG logo... So I'm out of ideas for now, and that's why I'm coming here to see if anyone has any other idea of how to revive my (soft) bricked phone...
Thank you for your time
PS - All this happened after trying to flash this ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2413135 and getting stuck at the LG logo...
PS2 - Okay, it seems that the problem is caused by the fact that I installed cm10.2 and then reverted back to cm10.1... But I have done factory resets, have wiped cache, data, dalvik, and system, all to no good... Don't know where to go from here... Btw, by flashing cm10.2 I can get to the "Android is upgrading - Starting apps" but then it gets stuck in this part and goes no further...

i9305 stuck on rom booting screen after flash

Was flashing my friends i9305 and now it wont boot any rom I flash... always gets stuck on the first boot screen until I take out battery.
I flashed CWM 6.0.4.7 using odin.
I have tried flashing several roms (CM 11, CM 10.1, PACman 4.3)... Each one will flash with no errors, then when I reboot after correct GAPPS it just gets stuck on the loading screen forever and won't boot up into ROM.
Wipe data/cache, wipe dalvik, wipe system > Install rom from zip, install GAPPS from zip > reboot (even here I wipe system/data/cache - still doesnt work).
Any ideas on why it won't load up the roms....

Well I figured it out... since it was never flashed or anything before (from stock rom)... I just went into the Mounts and Storage menu, and formated /cache /system /data manually and it finally worked.
Hope that helps

[Q] P880 does not boot after installing Vanir 4.4

So I have done the following steps:
Rooted my phone using Kingo root
Did a backup using Droidexplorer
Unlocked bootloader (check by entering secret menu)
Flashed CWM Touch recovery from their site for the LG Optimus 4x HD
Made a backup using CWM
Did a factory reset
Flashed Vanir 4.4 rom, I used the bottom one from here: http://www.emccann.net/nuclearmistake/VanirAOSPNightlies/p880/
Rebooted, did not get past LG logo after leaving for 15 minutes, removed and reinserted Battery
Rebooted into recovery wiped the cache and dalvik cache
Rebooted again and did not get past LG logo again after leaving for 15 minutes
I have no idea which Vanir 4.4 release is stable as the first post isn't updated here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2609285
I also cannot find a Vanir 4.3 release as the download points to the same page as the 4.4 version which only shows a limited amount of releases.
What is my next step?

I suggest using TWRP Recovery instead from Adams Omni thread, flash that like a zip in recovery and then re-reboot to recovery and load TWRP.
go to wipe>Advanced Wipe
And select cache, Dalvik Cache, System, and Data, and swipe to wipe them at the bottom.
Then go back to install, and find the Rom Zip and flash the Rom and then reboot, if it still isnt working, re-download the file, or choose a different rom and see if that one boots for you.
I don't think the recovery can be the problem here, so I would start with checking the download, and perhaps trying another ROM.

Its probably an outdated recovery version you're using I know that only twrp 2.6.3.0 and up support flashing KitKat Roms
don't forget to hit thanks!

If he was using an outdated recovery, in the case of CWM anything below 6.0.4.4, he wouldn't even be able to pass the installation as he would get a status 7 error. Since he got to the point where he was ready to boot, again I don't think it's the recovery's fault. But to clear things up, would the OP mind sharing his recovery version?
If you do want to stick with Vanir, another thing you could try is to flash a custom kernel on top of the ROM and see if it boots then. Good luck!

[Q] Trouble Downgrading ROMs

Has anyone else tried downgrading from Lollipop 5.1.1 to Kitkat 4.4.4? Because when I tried, and I did a complete wipe of my entire system, there supposedly was an encryption error. I have tried three 4.4.4 ROMs-- CM 11, CARBON ROM, and another CARBOM ROM- branch. They all came up with the same error when booting for the first time: "Error, encryption process has failed. You need to reboot to do a factory reset to [basically be able to use my device again]" This has never happened to me before. I was wondering if this had anything to do with the 5.1.1 Lollipop changes and stuff? I use TWRP 2.8.6 recovery.
Good thing I had a nandroid backup
Thanks for anyone's help
Edit: flashed 'Mokee" 4.4.4 ROM for kicks and giggles, and it came up with the same error like all of the other times
You cannot have done a complete wipe of your entire system. You cannot wipe boot, kernel and bootloader with recovery. The only way to do that is to flash back to stock ROM which replaces everything. To do that go to my CWM thread linked in my signature and make a new CWM SD per item 1a and flash a stock zip from item 6. Follow that with a factory reset with CWM. That takes it back to like it came out of the box and you can start over.

Okay, that's working! Thank you very much! I didn't know that you had a stock Nook HD ROM copy... that is cool. Thanks again for your guidance and for all of your work for the Nook-people everywhere!
