At this time there is no exploit for JB root on the AHD. If you've taken the JB OTA, you're stuck on JB....no downgrading whatsoever

Well there's only one custom ROM out right now by Matt, so it's not like you're missing much....only one choice for a custom ROM atm (not that it's a bad ROM, just there aren't a plethora of choices in custom ROMs.)
Also, the AHD being the bastard little brother to the Razr HD, we don't get the attention that our older legitimate brother gets

trying to regain root need help
title says it all. I do not post often here. But I feel as if I hit a brick wall with root. first I had to rsd to the june firmware thanks to daywalker and skilrax . Postings i was able to flash the stock out of box firmware. after upgrading first to the sept firmware finally was able to install the ota jellybean. lol my wifes phone took me 5 minutes to flash mine took 5 hours 9 failed rsd flashes and alot of grief. at first it appeared all went well. titanium backup installed and ran fine and terminal emulator gave me # everytime . then I installed supersu it failed to install. I still thought I had root but just to be sure I installed root checker . no dice. after reading the forums I decided to factory reset . this took away my root for good. I still have 3 su one in system/ bin , one in system/data and one in ls -l / system/ usr/ we-need-root. I know this can restored but im not good at coding. changing permissions or adb in general. btw rootchecker pro says my busybox is good to go.I just need someone to help guide me in how to write the proper commands. and yes I had vodoo ota rootkeeper installed . I was tempted to try rsd again but i know that you cant go backwards . learned that when I had the atrix 4g. Not expecting any one click exploits any time soon but if some one posts a command prompt method I promise if it works not only a donation but I will post it as well. in the general area of course. Im sure Im not alone in needing to restore root.:silly:

I was trying to connect my D4 with the leaked ICS ROM though adb
but after typing adb shell, it keep telling my device was offline
if i can connect the device, is it possible to push the busybox, su, etc to /system/xbin and enabling the root privilege?
Can't help you with actually rooting the build (sorry), but I have seen other threads that seem to indicate that if you reinstall your drivers the problem should resolve itself...
Where is the leaked rom?

no luck anyone? i really want root back.....I love everything about this update i just want my root back please!!!!!
I can point you in the right direction. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1467598 I think if we knew the correct hex values to change in the .bat we might be able to get root.
It seems the problem i face now is i cannot push the files to the phone as permission denied.....or device offline....i actually could even push su to /data/local
which render other commands useless.....

I thought the GSM patch is automatically enabled on the ICS ROM? All you have to do is put in your foreign SIM card and you should be ready to go.

It doesn't seem to work - I put in the foreign SIM and can make and receive calls without an issue. But no 3G data available (and I have set all the data roaming, etc. on in settings). If I had root access, then I could try to flash that rom to see if it worked. I'm in South Africa on the Vodacom network (3G).

Its not yet possible to downgrade from JB to ICS. Once you're on JB and no backup of root from ICS you're stuck until further notice. Sorry for that.
You are not the only one...there are thousands of us with the same problem. nothing we can do but wait for a new root method. no going back to ics....sell your phone, buy a new one with ics on it,and go from there.

in the old days ota's used to wipe everything and reinstall the rom, thus removing root. since gingerbread all they use is patch files, thankfully too. could you imagine a 1.5GB "ota"? it checks the hash of all the files its going to be updating, if it needs to update modem and you have a diff modem then it will fail, if you removed an apk it needs it will fail etc.
its why cwm/oudhs will detect if teh su binary has been altered with permissions and /system/etc/install-recovery.sh as they tend to be teh results of otas
Thanks boy.!

as i explained earlier, the only way a ota will pass while you use custom recovery to flash it, is normally if you have custom recovery and root and thats all. alter system in any way and you risk the ota not going. replacing the kernel is guaranteed way to make them fail, almost every ota ever has included a new kernel update.

The first thing to do is make sure your recovery is up to date. You can do that with the Rom manager app. It probably is the latest version but, it is better to check first. Then you have to decide if you want to go back to stock and take all the updates. The last update was a month or two ago and had a few security things. It's still GB. If you do then you'll be on a version ending in .621. After that you'll have to find compatible roms. The Liquid linked above is the most up to date version compatible with .621.
Good luck.

Thanks! I too just came across my DX which I had since launch, since it was with my car dock, Im gonna try to see what I can use it for as a companion to my pc...like maybe a desk mounted fan controller or temp monitor would be cool since I love to overclock (computers). Although its likely wishful thinking aside from some bluetooth tools from msi afterburner and such, its amazing the phone got up to ICS.
Might try it out later this week, last rom I had was one of the liberty 2.2.1 builds which were one of my fav at the time. Having gone from the DX, to rezound, and now note2. The DX was probably one of the best rom developed phones out there in its time aside from the nexus.

Framaroot, yes, is an apk. install the apk, and choose the gimli option. it will tell you that root was sucessful, and to reboot your phone. after you reboot, install bootstrap from either dx, d2, or d3 (d3 is most up to date, no known updated recovery available?)
You are correct about the 605/621 sbf info. once you flash 621, you can't go back. there are ROMs for both versions. I don't have experience with 605, but yes, you can upgrade to ICS from 621. From what I've read, no one has successfully gotten a JB ROM (CM10, 10.1, or 10.2) to work. There are at least 2 ppl who are going to attempt a KK build. wether or not it boots and is functional, only time will tell.
