Rooting my fone for first time. - Motorola Atrix HD

Dear frnds,
Yesterday I updated my At&T atrix HD to 4.1.1 Build date Sat nov 17 22:37:35 EST 2012.
I have never rooted any phone before,
Now I want to root my AHD, becaus some games like asphalt 7 cannot be played via ext storage, need to root for swap.
Also for removing noob At&t softwares which i dont need ie.Custom rom
Can I have step by step tutorial on how to root my AHD now?
I saw that its not rootable http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069735
Is it true?

Quick question

I decided to start using my old revolution as a backup phone. It is basically a brand new refurbished replacement they sent me a while back that I've never used. When I go to update it to gingerbread it says that there isn't an update available. I'm just wondering if Verizon pulled the update when they ended its life and is there any way I can still root it and and install a gingerbread rom on it without first updating to gingerbread? Any help would be appreciated.

You need to be on gingerbread to install a gingerbread ROM or you'll brick your phone, it's a complete pain in the ass to fix so I wouldn't try it. There are instructions to manually update to gb in the dev section if you have access to a pc...

Thank you. I figure since I still have it, I may as well as play with it some. I'm interested to see how it's improved since it.got gingerbread.

Any help to root the leaked ICS ROM

I was trying to connect my D4 with the leaked ICS ROM though adb
but after typing adb shell, it keep telling my device was offline
if i can connect the device, is it possible to push the busybox, su, etc to /system/xbin and enabling the root privilege?
Can't help you with actually rooting the build (sorry), but I have seen other threads that seem to indicate that if you reinstall your drivers the problem should resolve itself...
Where is the leaked rom?

all the info on the leaked d4 ics is @ DROID forums. in the d4 development section.

no luck anyone? i really want root back.....I love everything about this update i just want my root back please!!!!!
I can point you in the right direction. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1467598 I think if we knew the correct hex values to change in the .bat we might be able to get root.
It seems the problem i face now is i cannot push the files to the phone as permission denied.....or device offline....i actually could even push su to /data/local
which render other commands useless.....
Per p3droid twitter:
@P3Droid R U A Moto fan, then this is exciting news, @djrbliss just created a new universal root for the new 4.0.4 leaks.
Im not sure if it was posted yet.

The last posts I saw from him said it's not posted yet. He posted it's been tested on the D4 as well. So it shouldn't be much longer.

pimpsalot69: He was referring to getting it installed, not getting root. Unfortunately, if you lost root during the upgrade process (like I did) there isn't currently a way to restore it. You'll have to wait for a new method to be released.

I thought the GSM patch is automatically enabled on the ICS ROM? All you have to do is put in your foreign SIM card and you should be ready to go.

It doesn't seem to work - I put in the foreign SIM and can make and receive calls without an issue. But no 3G data available (and I have set all the data roaming, etc. on in settings). If I had root access, then I could try to flash that rom to see if it worked. I'm in South Africa on the Vodacom network (3G).

At this time there is no exploit for JB root on the AHD. If you've taken the JB OTA, you're stuck on JB....no downgrading whatsoever

Well there's only one custom ROM out right now by Matt, so it's not like you're missing much....only one choice for a custom ROM atm (not that it's a bad ROM, just there aren't a plethora of choices in custom ROMs.)
Also, the AHD being the bastard little brother to the Razr HD, we don't get the attention that our older legitimate brother gets

trying to regain root need help
title says it all. I do not post often here. But I feel as if I hit a brick wall with root. first I had to rsd to the june firmware thanks to daywalker and skilrax . Postings i was able to flash the stock out of box firmware. after upgrading first to the sept firmware finally was able to install the ota jellybean. lol my wifes phone took me 5 minutes to flash mine took 5 hours 9 failed rsd flashes and alot of grief. at first it appeared all went well. titanium backup installed and ran fine and terminal emulator gave me # everytime . then I installed supersu it failed to install. I still thought I had root but just to be sure I installed root checker . no dice. after reading the forums I decided to factory reset . this took away my root for good. I still have 3 su one in system/ bin , one in system/data and one in ls -l / system/ usr/ we-need-root. I know this can restored but im not good at coding. changing permissions or adb in general. btw rootchecker pro says my busybox is good to go.I just need someone to help guide me in how to write the proper commands. and yes I had vodoo ota rootkeeper installed . I was tempted to try rsd again but i know that you cant go backwards . learned that when I had the atrix 4g. Not expecting any one click exploits any time soon but if some one posts a command prompt method I promise if it works not only a donation but I will post it as well. in the general area of course. Im sure Im not alone in needing to restore root.:silly:

But for real people let's read some stuff before posting

It would all end if someone could find the hole in motorolas armor. I am sick of this company...They haven even put the Atrix HD on the bootloader unlocker site of theirs.
It would end if people searched before they posted. 27 topics isn't gonna make root happen any faster.

Is there any way to downgrade to a different version of android then root and so on?
Not as of yet. Also already topics about.

Yeah i chat with one of Motorola support team and i asked them if they will ever unlock them bootloader and they say we working on it maybe with the next update it will be unlocked but i know thats just crap idk why google would let their own company lock its bootloader

Its not Motorola's choice. Att makes them. And I highly doubt they would unlock it via update.

[Q] How can i downgrade my Atrix HD back to stock so i can root it?

I want to root my Atrix HD so I want to downgrade to stock but i already tried to do the whole RSDlite thing and I have gotten nowhere. PLEASE HELP!!!
Its not yet possible to downgrade from JB to ICS. Once you're on JB and no backup of root from ICS you're stuck until further notice. Sorry for that.
You are not the only one...there are thousands of us with the same problem. nothing we can do but wait for a new root method. no going back to ics....sell your phone, buy a new one with ics on it,and go from there.

Oh but that would require actual work on their part, and we can't have that can we?
Join the club, there are tons of us who'd kill to go back to ICS. BreakShadow has a point though, there are a good bit of posts with this same question. Don't be afraid to look through the forums first. =)
