[Q] Jb to Gb, really tired of battery drain. - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, friends, yes i have this question because i´m really tired of my battery duration.
I used gb for a long time, about 8 months, and im resistive to go to ics or jb because in all threat appears the battery duration problem.
i dont know if really normal but with the same use of the phone in gb i come aprox to 20:00hs at night with at least 20% of battery left
and in jb i can´t pass the 19:00hs with the phone on (0% of batt).
And by the other way, after try for a month ics, and for other month jb, i think that the better things comes with it (that i dont really think is so mutch) dont compare with no battery duration. So i have a "better operative sistem" but my phone is off becouse of battery!!! jejeje
Well, my question is, to go back to GB, what must i do?
Just usuall wipes and flash??? by cwm or odin? or must be careful with something more?
Thanks!! and sorry but me english

Best and easiest way is to flash GB ROM package with PC Odin. Just select PDA file and hit start, nothing more.
You could also try staying on JB and trying a different kernel - or give CM10.1 a try, it's Android 4.2.1 with excellent battery life.

Last chance....
for my understand, i think there are 2 only differents kernels to try, stock and philz, inst it?
I´m using this rom:
[ROM][4.1.2 JB]Ultimate N7000 XXLSC JellyBean 4.1.2 v5.1 | OTA Available | 16/12/2012
it has this kernel:
NEW Philz Safe Kernel 3.73 for XXLSC and New CWM Touch 6.0.1.9 with exFAT Suppor
What other kernel then can i try?
And cm roms has missing the s apps, isnt it?
Regards..

After 8 months of use, the battery capacity is reduced noticeably. I just got a new battery for my note, and battery time increased substantially. Now I can actually use my phone and not worry about charging two-three times during the day.

Yeap, may be you are right, the battery life is gone worst in time by the naturally use, but one day i have 24hrs battery life time with gb and the next day i get 15hrs with ics...

Best rom for Battery?

Hey guys. I only want to ask which rom do you think is the bettest for battery life.
Thanks.

My suggestion would be stock gingerbread with speedmod kernel k2-12, i used to get around 4 days with normal use.
That sounds nice. Do you have heavy use of yout phone? Or only deep sleep all the time?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
I use it for playing games, little music, calls and messaging. Sometimes connect to Wi-fi. With the same in ICS i get around 2 days.
okay thank you i´ll try. :fingers-crossed:
to set expectations straight, expect thought about 4.5 hours nonstop usage on gb with speedmod kernel.
4 hours on ics with speedmod
alk stock dont expect more then 3 to 3.5 hours.
you only get 2 days if you dont synch, barely use phone and are in good reception area with data switched off always.
Note general tips which can be found in the 10000plus threads about battery drain and how to analyse deepsleep issues

I don't know whether you like gingerbread roms or not , but till date the rom with which I got maximum battery backup with modeate to heavy usage was CheckRom Revo HD V6. This rom never lags , best battery life , and good speed .
If you are Gingerbread hater and ICS lover , then you can try Rocketrom v7( very good battery life with the included kernel , and would be much better with Speedmod Kernel (latest version) ). And then you have CleaNote V2.30 ( V3.0 has bluetooth glitches but its faster , if you are bluetooth user i would suggest you to stick with V2.30 ) , I personally love CleaNote because it has stock look and very fluidic :good: and as the tagline says 'You dont want any theme forced down to your throat '. KingDroid are good at speed but many have reported few glitches with it , you may try it if you like ( I dont like KingDroid , its sth personal ). If you hate Samsung's bloatware then we have Cassie's XtraLite rom for your rescue :cyclops:. Its a good rom too .
Well finally to end , I use cyanogenmod 9 and i update it everyday and with each update it gets more fluid and responsive, fast , smooth . i just love cyanogenmod9 ( waiting for cm10 ).
ParanoidAndroid are for ppl who love fun , who want to showoff their phone , the ability of their phone , the sweet hybrid interface of their phone , its for geeks :-0 .
Make a choice or try all of them :good::good:

I am using CLASSIC V1+15 toggle with MOD V1 which is ICS 4.0.4, and I also updated kernel to chainfire LRG, which is more stable and smooth, battery life is excellent comparatively to all other ROMs so far.
Which is around 4% drain per hour, I have (facebook, wechat, LINE, mitalk, whatsapp, email, exchange service, maps, mixed chinese input, make your own clock) running and leaving it on idle.

For the past 2 years of beeing a S galaxy user, I've quite looked for best battery life at top performance. Most of the time, battery life is no longer measured in "days" of usage , like we used to do with our Nokia phones. Nowadays, you ten to look at display (screen on) time , CPU profiles, and also connectivity patterns.
You can think of battery life as a factor of the above mentioned, however I think that display time is the most important parameter related to battery life. CPU profiles, connectivity, tend to work only when you have your screen on, and from my experience, you tend not to extend your usage time by more than 10-20%.
So as a conclusion, I did not expect a specific rom / kernel configuration to offer more "screen on" time but to offer a more faster way to do my tasks therefore I did more tasks in almost the same display time.
At the end of the day, it is more important how you USE your device rather than finding a "magical" combination that will increase your battery life.
KID + SpeedMod
+1 for GB (i was using checkrom but i'm sure any gb rom will give similar effects) with Speedmod.
If you make setcpu to 200mhz on screen off, i find it uses almost no power at all when it's on standby.
Like it was on 77% when i went to bed.
Woke up in the morning and it was on 78% (i was like lolwut).
Yay for setcpu.
But seriously though, any GB rom will give you considerably more battery life than any ics rom.
ROM
The best ROM for a battery-HALF ILLUSION and placed on the scale smartas governor.
Try and tell me your impressions.

[Q] ICS x JB Battery life

Hi,
With ICS I did 2 days of batt life. With JB, even did batt calibration after installed, I get less than 1 day.
Have been trying SVA, Chrack, Cassie, and a lot more JB rom with same result... (testing for a week each one)
Why have ICS Roms so better battery results then JB?
firstly they are leaks.. not an official rom so not that optimized. I have been on XXLSA and i get 1.5 hrs of mod use.. and was same on ICS as well.. so i dint find much of a difference

Lol, nokia, think your idea of moderate differs from mine But yeah, i read of some users getting over 15 hours use and am v jealous, as of ics i get max of 12 with general use.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
lol, depends on definition of usage. Some like off the charger.
I prefer unused state:max standby and comparison full use of screen. both with being registered (on good reception) mobile network and multiple email accounts with push.
Jb gives me the feeling its better. Could be placebo.
I have broken my 5 hour full screen on time without degrading functionality. I am on 6,5, but with a inverted ereader.(so yes I cheated) Its not really representative, cause full browsing still is 4,5. On a new battery that is and wifi/mobile connectivity.

[Q] JB vs ICS vs GB for battery life

Is there really any deference between android versions in battery life?
And in your opinion what is the best ROM for battery life at all (including GB)?
Well everyone uses their own phone accordingly. I currently use AOKP ROM. I do not have a data plan. If i use my phone only for calls or messages, i cant last thru 2-3 days. If i play games or whatever, then a single full charge only gets me through 1 day.
Battery Life is very dependant on how you use your phone so there really is not a best ROM for battery life
I meant that for the same usage which ROM (or android version) gives better battery life?
hmmm... I guess the you get best on CM7, which is Gingerbread.
I used lacoste 4.1.2 jellybean Rom . I have about 1-2 days on WiFi and average use . It can be considered as a battery saving Rom . Have not tested out other jellybean Rom yet besides that

Afaik, most battery friendly ROM is CM7 nightly #146 (GB ROM). Somebody recently posted download link for it. If you can't find it, download one of these, it will do the job. In general, avoid Sense ROMs if you need good battery life.

+1 for Gingerbread 3 days battery, over ICS 2 days with light use.
that's with tbklakes stock GB rom verses tbklakes stock ICS rom, if i oc, scraping 2 days lol.
Addy
GB 3 Days
ICS 2 Days
With normal use
i think the best battery life is for gingerbread.
Gingerbread? mmm
with my phone, I had a quite good feeling about Jeally bean.. if you use a lot of data/3G traffic, gingerbread is not the best

XXLSZ battery perfomance question

Hi everyone. I am trying to choose one of the new roms based on oficial xxlsz rom.
But for someone that just did it, the battery perfomance is better than in xxlsc? (i have this
right now) and i think that is the most important thing to do with JB in note.
Thanks in advance
in my opinion, lsc drain more battery power than lsz. i noticed after i change my rom from ultimate n7000 lsc into newest ultimate n7000 lsz.
i'm using my note from morning around 6am (100%) and when i had my lunch at 12pm, it still have 66% - 70% which more better than lsc, it will drop until 55%.
but it just my opinion.
The ROM I use is really good in all terms, For instance the battery drain is ~1% / H in idle state ( and comparatively much lesser with heavy use as well though it depends on individual's definition of "heavy use " . I suggest to wait 2-3 days with 2 manual full reboobs/day before doing an assessment.(Like note does wants to protect it's draining habit, but gives up finally to The SUper ROM)
I had Ultimate > Stock > Slim versions before this one , and this is going to stay I guess....(check my note signature for links).
My battery is over 6 months old and really does need replacing, as its life has really deteriorated since new, However after using Ultimate LSZ for about 2 days now, Im getting about 18-20hrs from my battery (with high usage)
ive used Ultimate ROMs for quite some time now, the last was LSC which I was on for several weeks and I did not manage to get close to 18hrs usage, So LSZ is definitely a big improvement.
Thanks for te replay
Ok, then i will try the new xxlsz. You mention Ultimate rom serveral times, is the rom for joosh3?
It´s maybe one of the best roms? what you recommend. I really searching a perfomance rom, not one so much pretty but fast
and battery friendly..
Thanks again!!
Try Sweet Rom !! Trust me ... You won't regret it

install all over without data? because it´s a wonderfull job!!, jeje.
Thanks!

[Q] [Battery related] S3 Mini i8190L update from stock rom to custom, is it worth it?

Hi guys,
i recently sold my crappy Xperia Tipo (i goddamn hate it) and bought an S3 Mini, i love it, it's my first day with it, but i'm having serious issues with the battery life, it discharges too fast,
When i bought it i drained all the battery, then charged it (turned off) to 100%.... but still its draining too fast.
The phone is brand new... i don't know why it discharges so fast, it's on android 4.1.2:
Should i update to a custom rom? i would like to taste KitKat, that CM11...
Do you suggest it?

The battery is not our great ally here xD
But custom rom have bugs, no matter what ppl say.. they have and will have for a while...
IF you dont care about warranty and want to take the chance to improve your cell, yes, there are some good roms to upgrade Jelly Bean to KitKat or just update to 4.3
Personal, Maclaw have a great work done in his CM and Carbon (Don Like at all Slim or OAKP ) that work with kit kat, still in process; in the case of 4.3 dont know, i just did the jump from 4.1 to 4.4
I'm actually using Mac CM 11.0 and I have to charge it every night, the same as with a Stock ROM / based custom ROM. I'm actually doing around 5 to 6 hours calling and a little bit of Line/Whatsapp during the day.
It's faster, and I like Open Source ROMs the most, because of the design, but it's up to you.

hey guys,
the road so far:
I started rooting and installing TWRP recovery in my phone, then i updated to Maclaw Kitkat 4.4.2 and flashed gapps...
i noted that the phone improved just a little bit, because without the bloatware it's much better, i don't have any bugs actually...
From 5 am to 11.30 am it went down 3% without 3G, i went to sleep and lost 3 % that's a little bit better...
I suggest to do a full rom backup with TWRP and try a new custom rom, 4.4 or 4.3!!
leave this post open for if someone knows something else about the battery life.

Dont know much how long is battery life with the stock rom, bcause i started using the phone directly with the CM11 of maclaw. I am running the 20140120 version, and i am always reading about the news and comments of the last maclaw's release.. (think i will do an update soon..)
I see that battery life increase changing the governor ( abyssplug ) and the I/O scheduler ( sio ). I dont use wifi so much but often 3g data connection (chat, mail pushing, some internet surfing etc..) , listen music, make some photos... airplane mode during night!
after 1,5 day of use.. i should charge!
had an xperiaE before with a stock 4.1.2 jb and the battery life was greater... ( but is completely another device with another hw and os .. )

I'm kindda pissed of with the Xperia line, my friend had the Xperia U and smashed it across the hallway because after hours and hours of flashing new roms it always came down to poor...extreme poor performance haha.
What's the governor ?
governor takes control of which the CPU is used... there are a lot of threads about...or just google the word and you will find a lot of literature..
