Hi all,
I use Mac and Linux and I need to restore stock rom on my Ace S5830i (just to be clear, I can enter download mode, but not recovery mode)
I'm a newbie with this sort of issue, so, sorry in advance for my dumbness
Can I use Heimdall with my S5830i? I read a paste thread where they said it was not compatible. Is is today with the new version?
Thank you very much!
slY
No! Heimdall is only for Samsung Galaxy S devices. I tried many times to install onepackage roms on my s5830i with Heimdall on Linux Ubuntu 12.10 x86 without successfully

is there any way to do it from ubuntu or without pc?
thank you all
Hemidall works on Linux Flash a custom kernel to root the phone.
oh thank you, we'll try it
As I said, need your help, I tried Odin and it didn't find my device Samsung Galaxy Mini GT-S5570I, is there a custom Odin for S5570I ?
Read this post and follow the step ....
Only 1.84 and 1.87 versions of Odin can detect GT-S5570I
As far as I know, the wrong filename of "ops" file is responsible for odin not detecting the concerned phone...

My phone... the samsung galaxy ace gt-5830 absolutely refuses to connect to odin despite every driver being installed...
reason i need it to connect to odin is because whilst playing around with custom roms i accidentaly erase all data on system ... etc via cwm this would not have been a problem exept in the fact that i accidently erased my sd card wwith all of my nandroid backups on it...
so i went hunting online and got all the firmware and put my phone into download mode.... and nothing it just doesent show up
clockwork mod still works though but i get the feeling that oi cant use that to flash my rom back, but if it is possible can someone send me a backup...
btw my phone is grandspanking new just got it for chrissy... bought it outright so taking it back is out of the question
Please help?

Go here, www.themythteam.com. In this website, under the main menu, go to the downloads section & select stock roms. Tap on the links of your required baseband & download. There'll be a .rar file with either single or multiple packs. Google the way to flash via odin for the case you have. Bingo..!

Are you using the correct version of Odin (v4.38 I think) for your Galaxy Ace? SGA uses a different Odin to SGS2 for example.
You can download the above version from my Dev-Host mirror site HERE
Also, ensure you're running the latest Samsung USB drivers on your PC. These are also available from my Dev-Host mirror HERE
Download the ROM from the link in this thread. It's the best stock ROM, in my opinion - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1703094

Hello,
I've a "non commercial" version of a GTab 8.9.
This tab is running by default Android 3.1. I would like to update to Android 4.0.4. Kies doesn't want indicating my tablet doesn't support the update (i don't know it was 4.0.4 version or another)
I tried to use the standard : Odin + the new firmware. The tablet is unlocked and rooted.
Each time that I tried I get the error : "can't nand write" :-/ I tried all current stuff to fix this issue : change cable, PC, odin version (1.83, 1.85, 3.07, 3.09). I tried to change recovery with succss
but impossible to change rom. I found a link on tsar dot com (sorry I'm too young here to post link) to reformat tab and I put the pit file : this has worked....but now : i can't access to the recovery. I can only open the download mode...but I can't do anything and I don't have others files described ont the following link
XDA's guy are ones to save me !!
thanks by advance (sorry for my poor english)

Thanks for your reply. I tried this first but it didn't work because when I want "start" with the good firmware (7300), the md5 check works but that's all. When odin want write boot.img or other file, i get an error "Can't write" and odin stops.
As this method didn't work I try with the tsar dot com solution. Hoping that's can help me.
Thanks a lot.

I've a similar issue in /data partition (it can't be writtable after a try to flash with Odin from a virtual machine) and I fixed it with the PIT file to repartition, reflash stock firmware and then a wipe/factory reset from stock recovery (I think it did a format)...
I try to put pit file. It's works as I told in my first post. But I can't flash the firmware with a standard stock rom (apparently). Can you tell me tools and roms that you used to fix the issue exaclty ?

What I remember is Heimdall doesn't work with my P7310 and it don't let me do anything.
Anyway, plug into a Windows machine running Odin 1.85 (I think this version it's fine) your tab, press 10 seconds UP and power button and see if your tab is detected. In that case try to flash stock package again.
Some time ago it happened to me with a Galaxy Ace phone, when phone is booting screen was off but the phone enters into download mode anyway and you could flash whatever you want.
A last shot for you could be disassemble your tab and pull off battery. Wait some minutes and then pull on again. Try to start in download mode with tab plugged into your computer. If you don't have enough knowledge to disassemble your tab (and I can assure you of that it's not easy) maybe you need to bring it to Samsung support.
