I have major problem with my phone, today when i was writing text message the phone just shut down. And after few minutes i have tried to power it on it comes to samsung galaxy s offical screen and to screen of kernel. What should i do? But i can go in download and recovery mode. But in recovery I just have update via .zip ,wipe cache, wipe data/factory..
Does someone have any advices about this?
Try the following, one by one and try to start your phone after each:
- Remove the battery, leave it for 20-30 seconds, put it back and try to start your phone.
- Try to remove an SD card if you have one. A bad SD can cause this problem sometimes.
- Do a factory reset from recovery.
- Reflash your ROM or flash another one. You can do that by going into recovery -> connect your phone to your PC with USB -> select "advanced" from the menu -> select "mount USB storage" (it's the last item in the list). Now you can access your phone's memory to upload a .zip and flash the ROM.
Be careful with the last one. I suggest flashing any of the stock ROM's.

Hi, i have flashed the SPQRom 0.4.1 - CM6 (FroYo), the Google Apps and the market-patch-v1.zip to try out the new system. I have done a nandroid backup, then wiped data and dalvik cache and finally booted into my new system. I've tried it out and then i wanted to get back to my other one (HCDR. Rom 1.6). So i restored and it successed so i pushed "Reboot System Now". It started and started and started and after more than an half hour i could still only see the "tattoo" sign. I put my sd card into my computer... all the files from HCDR. Rom including photos videos etc. are on the card. The phone just doesn't start.
What can i do ?
Thx
Try to start without SD inserted. And make sure your battery has enough power. U did everything right as it seemed to me
doesnt work
Before flash HCDR
wipe dalvik cache and data.
something wrong with boot.img.
If you have goldcard you could restore Tattoo to original state with official ROMhttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5179788&postcount=1 (from step 17).
Or please read this topic http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=768883
first check your battery, it should be over 50% to do anything with tattoo.
try to enter the boot loader ( when is phone off, hold "home" button and press power on button ) when sign tattoo is appear on screen, release them and wait about a minute to loader menu is appear.
Then if your ROM is still on your sd card (named update.zip) choose option flash from sd card, or isn`t try with option wipe, and wipe all except "ext - partition" and reboot.
The option to format my SD Card is GONE from the recovery menu, here's what happened.
1. i9000M running Froyo JPM approx. 3 days, no lagfix, rooted, lots of apps, SD card almost full.
2. Took phone out of pocket - Black screen of death, bottom buttons light up on touch.
3. Reboot into ClockWorkMod Recovery - unmount and remount everything. Reboot, and nothing. Wipe cache, reboot, nothing. Wipe data/restore to factory, reboot, AHA!, see 4.
4. Phone starts, immediately starts force closing like none other.. so, reboot into recovery.
5. Try restoring a Nandroid backup.. everything is swell, but it finds an error: can not restore android_system.img ... oh boy
6. Go back into recovery.. can NOT get to ClockworkMod Recovery, when I try to apply the update.zip, ERROR: no such file exists
Note: at this point I am not getting any errors when I enter recovery mode related to mounting, sdcard - nothing.
7. Try wiping/resetting again. Nothing.
8. Try flashing back to UGJH2 (stock Bell), nothing.
In the end, I still have no errors in recovery, and the option to format my SD card is gone..
Is this the same SD card issue as everyone else, or did I unmount my SD card somehow in step 3?
you sound like this case
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=822580
so when you re-flashed back to JH2
did you get any error message?
which method did you use to flash back to JH2 ?
Hi guys,
I tried installing CM7 onto my nook, i installed the zip of it onto the root of my sd card and then went into clockwork and installed the zip without wiping anything. Now im stuck at the stock android root boot screen not the even the CM7 one. I tried to go into recovery but i cant and i cant do the 8 interruptions either. I was just wondering if i have to restore the NC back to 1.1 or can i just burn the image of clockwork onto my sd card and zip another rom instead?
This happened to me, too.
I think it was because I wasn't using the latest Clockwork.
Take your SD card out and redo it making sure you use CW 3.0.1.0.
Then follow the steps listed here:
Download a working build of CyanogenMod and place it on the root of the card.
Optional: Download the Google Apps archive and place it on the root of the card.
Turn your Nook Color completely off. (Hold power button then tap "Power Off")
Insert the SD card you installed ClockworkMod Recovery onto.
Once ClockworkMod Recovery has booted, use the volume buttons to highlight options, the "n" button to select the highlighted option, and power to go back a menu.
Select Wipe data/factory reset.
Select Wipe cache partition.
Go to install zip from sdcard, then choose zip from sdcard and find your build of CyanogenMod.
Optional: Repeat step 6 with your Google Apps archive instead.
Go to mounts and storage --> unmount sdcard --> remove sdcard. (Rebooting without this step may just return you to the CWR menu.)
Go back to the main menu and select reboot system now. The Nook Color should now boot into CyanogenMod.
(In my case it froze and I had to hold power to shut it off with no negative effects. Your results may vary.)
Sigh, had to copy n paste the steps since I can't post links yet.
I re-did mine and it turned out just fine.
Thanks a lot. Im going to try that out and report back.
Yeah, sounds like you missed the wipe /system /data /cache step. I did the same once, and resulted the same bootloop -> took me a few minutes to realize what I had done.
Did what you guys said and my nook is back . Thanks a lot for the input. Saved me!
Hi all
i went to install another custom rom and decided after flshing roms nearly every day i would do a complete clean install
and i stupidly formatted sd card from CWM recovery, now my phone will not boot.
I can still get into recovery and download mode but from recovery there is nothing to flash from,
no roms or kernels.
Will i have to flash a stock rom from PC odin and start again? I have read Dr Ketans guide but nowhere can i find
any instruction how to flash when my phone is not recognised. My Pc will not see any cards but odin can see the phone.
If im wrong can anybody point me in the right direction?
many thanks in advance
Go to mounts and storage in recovery and select "USB mass storage mode" (or something like that at the end of the list). Connect your phone to your PC, copy the zip, unmount from PC, unmount from recovery.
in recovery its " Mount USB storage"
Direct on PC
In that situation, as the phone does not work, except recovery or download mode, it's better to take the SD card out of the phone, put it on the PC and copy a ROM on it. Then put back the SD card to the phone, return to the recovery mode to flash the new ROM.
at my i9000,
What I do:
1) Any kind of wipe
2) at Settings: Uninstalling each application.
3) Delete mounted card.
Result after reset:
Everything comes back like I didn't delete anything.
What i tried to do:
Install other ROM, the only one that works is: I9000XXJVU_I9000OXAJVU_OXA (ROM and root package)
Result is the same as before, the only change I have is that after boot I have new system setup wizard that I can't exit from but after hitting reset.
after that reset I have the same problem as before installing the new ROM.
I tried to do the external sd card swap with the vold.fstab, It didn't work, when i try to install the ICS zip file, after reboot install is looping (I see each reboot red lines but it's too fast to read.
another thing that I tried is that hard factory rest: *somenumber*somenumber#
resulted in getting the ....mmcblk0p2 ....stl11 ...stl10 red line format fail
*******************************************************************************************
another thing that I tries is this concept rootzwiki.com/topic/33743-external-sd-card-only-guide/ without taking out the internal sdcard out from my board (maybe i'll do it as a really last resort)
********************************************************************************************
I think that and hope that i was clear enough about the problem and what I did.
Any suggestions?
thanks
