Hi folks!
I have order a Streak recently, and as I live quite far from the repair service, I would like to buy a good case for my phone.
I´ve read read most of the post about cases on this forum (about Otterbox, amzer, leather ones), but I still have not being able to make a decission. So I ask for your help to make up my mind..
Here I note down my needs:
- The Streak must be pocketable with the case. I know that the device itself is almost not pocktable, so I would like to know if someone has a good case that still fits in normal trousers.
- I would prefer a case that I have not to take out the phone to use it (like those silicone ones), but I´n not sure if they provide a reasonably amount of protection. I can use a leather one (my actual Diamond has one), but it cannot be very big (the pocketable issue) and I want to be sure that I can take out the device easily without answering calls by accident.
- I understand that most of cases avoid the use both of Dell car accessory and the Dell desktop stand without removing them, but if any of them allow that, I would be good to know.
I really apreciate your advices and experiences, and thanks a lot for your time!
I personally use this case I did a review about and love it!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=761820
Fits in my pocket perfectly. A bit tight when wearing long jeans though.
I have the dell case plastic form fit. Doesn't offer to much prrotection but defintly pocketable. I have no issues putting the streak in my pocket. I am going to her the amzer jellycase for added protection.
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
I have the Easecase too. Brilliant case but I did think it bulked the phone up too much to fit in my pocket comfortably.
I liked Dell slip cover purely to prevent scratching but it was difficult to get on or off.
I ended up buying one of these as an interim measure.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEOPRENE-POUC..._MobilePhonesCasesPouches&hash=item588983aa2a
Cheap and nasty but it does the job superbly, the fold over stud clip is useless. But I found that leaving it unlatched it's great as a little pull tag so I can pull the phone in and out of my pocket very quickly.
I'd love to have a go at recreating this using loverly supple leather with a microfibre lining and a metal ring where the tab is for easy pocket removal.
I have read the excellent review about the easycase, but I´m not sure about it or this one:
Leather Case for Dell Streak - Horizontal Pouch Type (Black) Version.2 From PDAIR
(the forum does not allow me to post direct links)
Maybe without the clip is more pocketable...any experiencies with this case?
The plastic one from Dell seems to offer too less protection...a it is a bit expensive for what it is...but something similar is an option if I dont go for a leather one.
Thanks for your advices...
I believe you are talking about this one:

I do really like that case, but by the time it came out I had already purchased an easecase. It just seems that all PDair cases bulk the Streak up more. The case I have only adds about 1/8 inch on all sides of the Streak.
Although the PDair case is more visually pleasing with the white stitch.
I have bought the Amzer and the Otterbox cases, both make the phone a little big for your pocket and they are a little sticky.
I just put a product request on Boxwave to make a Pure Crystal Slip case for the Streak, I have used this on my HTC phones and like them.

so If you are interested please put a request in also.

This Chinese site is selling a very similar case, http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a230r.1.10.21&id=15517337960&_u=6b7pna66f1 more color selection and half the price.. wish i am in China now..
anyone got a similar case and can provide a brief review?
It looks cheap and plasticy in the close up pictures.
Was just thinking about getting this case. I am worried about the thickness. It doesn't not list anything. If anyone decides to get this case a review would be greatly appreciated.

I just purchased this last night. I'll post a review once it arrives.
Annoying when the product name says "Leather" and it's actually fake leather. Not that I expected the real thing for that price but it stinks of false advertising. Wish they had one like this in real leather, I like the design.

I received this case in the mail today. Below is my initial review.
Pros:
Thin
Doesn't cover the front bezel
Sleep function
Magnetic closure
Cons:
Sleep function is triggered if the cover is folded all of the way back
No micro-fiber type lining
I picked up this case because I was looking for a smart cover which didn't cover the front bezel of the Nexus 7. This case does the trick. The case fits the Nexus 7 perfectly while adding what I feel to be minimal bulk. While I don't think I will be using this case as a stand very often, it seems to do the job there too. The Nexus 7 felt quite stable when using the stand function and generally required a decent shove to make it tip over. The inclusion of the magnetic closure is nice so that the cover doesn't come open when placing in a bag for travel. All buttons and ports are exposed, and the holes in the back of the case line up well with the speaker.
My only concerns with the case are very minor. It would be nice if the inside of the case has some type of micro-fiber style lining, although I don't think this is a huge issue since I have a screen protector on my Nexus 7 anyway. I did find that if I fold the front flap all of the way back so that is is flat against the back of the case, that the magnet triggers the sleep function on the Nexus 7. I found that I can avoid this issue by leaving a slight gap on the left-hand side when folding the cover back.
Overall I am very pleased with my purchase and am glad I didn't have to wait any longer to find a good slim case for the Nexus 7.
I just saw a youtube video of this case today. Was thinking of getting one. Let me see if I can find the video.

It's the same case as the one in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1823702
I have one and it's fine, it does its job and is very unobtrusive. It definitely doesn't feel as nice as a Blurex/moko/etc type folio case though.

It looks like the same case. Its not a high-end case by any means, but it does the job well for the price. So far I haven't seen any I like better.
Hi XDA! I am looking for my PERFECT case/smartcover for the Nexus 7.
So the official Nexus 10 has a smart cover that is incorporated into the "rubber feet" on the back. Today, while walking through a mall, I saw these Blackberry Z10 smartcovers that are incorporated into the battery door.
Do you know of a case that is similar for the N7?
this is what the Blackberry Z10 battery door/smartcover look like http://bit.ly/10KGnO9
tried looking around, I haven't yet found anything so I gave up. Now my N7 has no case but I might just sell it an get an N10 anyways
The back has never needed any protection so these folio cases are pointless....it's the front that always has, and a bumper of sorts with the smartcover built in would be ideal
Exactly. The N7 is pretty bulky as is, dont need an extra layer in the back.

I have a moko cover that's pretty sweet. Its a portfolio case that let's you stand it in landscape to use with a Bluetooth keyboard or just to watch videos.
I tried posting a link but since I'm a new users, the forum won't allow me to. Just go to amazon and search for "moko slim-fit case" $15.99
Similar to the Blurex cases.
I've tried lots of cases. I DID like the Blurex/Moko style. However it did add a considerable amount of thickness. I also tried the Poetic case, which is a slim hard back plastic case with a smart case attached. It worked pretty well and latches shut at the end to keep closed. The Poetic case is the best case I've found for a smart cover type protection.
I eventually settled on a hardback book case. It is stylish and gives it a little more protection. The lid stays closed with a strap but some include wood shells with magnets. I opted for the cheapest solution and find it very good. In fact it has held up very well. The tablet is held in by sticky tape. I've owned mine for months and never had it fall out or need to be cleaned/restuck.
http://shop.portenzo.com/hardback-for-nexus-7/
Plenty of color combinations. I have a Red exterior, white inner liner, and a black strap. Nice and clean.
So iPAD mini like smart covers isn't available for the N7 ? I too just need a lightweight smart cover only to protect the screen and not the back and was wondering if something like poetic slimline exists?
The Poetic Slimline does exist, as my previous posts states, for the Nexus 7:
http://bit.ly/192m6YK
The iPad Smart Covers uses many magnets around the edge of the screen to keep the flappy flap tight against the surface. Others just use one side of magnets at the edge of the closing point.
Very good price too. I purchased mine for $20, but it is showing $9.95 at Amazon right now.
The Poetic was nice and I liked it but out of the 4-5 months I owned it, I had to replace it 3 times because the material would break at the seams. Poetic has a 3yr warranty and replaced it hassle free by just emailing them my Amazon order number. Because they are so cheap, they don't even bother wanting the old one returned... so while they were falling apart, other N7 owners didn't mind a free slightly worn case.
Here is a video of them:

Yea. In doing the research and finding that video, I noticed the different colors. When they first came out they only had black. I'd almost wouldn't mind picking up a baby blue or red one.
I noticed colors are a little more expensive.
@player911
After so much of research with matching my requirements, I just couldnt find an alternative to Poetic Slimline case. Looks like it isnt available in my country (India) which is not cheap option.
Any idea if there's any similar chinese ones or replica? Have seen few smart covers from China on Ebay but they have the problem of turning off the screen when cover is flipped around.

I've heard good things about the Nillkin smart-wake cases. While the case covers both the front and back, the folding section does not, which makes it a bit slimmer (Hard to explain, take a look at the link for a picture). Apparently these cases don't suffer from the waking issue when folded backwards, either.
Here's a review I found: http://www.androidcentral.com/nillkin-leather-flip-cover-nexus-7
Dad recently bought a Nexus 7 and we ordered this case, though we haven't received it yet so can't offer any first-hand impressions.

Heard about Nillkin so let me see
EDIT:
Doesn't protect the screen as cover doesn't have magnets on edges(magnetic closure) like poetic one to close it 100%
EDIT2:
Ordered Poetic Slimline
ZTE ended up sending me the TPU Clear Protective Case the day after I received the phone. It fits perfectly, has a almost a tacky feel to it to assist with one-handed operation since its so large. Buttons are covered as well but easy to operate through the raised corresponding buttons on the case. Well worth the $15.
http://www.zteusa.com/axon-case
There are a few cases popping up on Amazon now. The only thing that's keeping me from pulling the trigger on any of them is the fact that none of the example photos actually show the Axon with the case on. Most of them are a completely different phone (maybe a nexus 5?). I doubt that any of the major case brands will manufacture a case for the phone since it's GSM only, so a limited market. Time will tell.

I saw one case on amazon or ebay for it and I'm was not sold on the case mainly because it looked like they have the camera and flash cutouts positioned wrong.
I'm thinking the mismatch on cases in the photos has something to do with these being cheap case companies not having their hands on the phone yet. I would like to wrap this phone in something but I'm not sold on any of the cases on amazon until I can see them actually on the phone in the example photos. Augie, you have the official case, correct? Any chance you can post a photo or two of the case on the phone? Does it still allow you to show the phone off? I'm crossing my fingers that someone will develop a dual hybrid case like the ringke fusion or the incipio dual pro cases.
I'll post some tomorrow. Check the link in post 1, the case is completely transparent. It even has holes in it for the two microphones at top and bottom of phone.
As promised, sorry for the delay. Link in post 1
That looks perfect. I worry about the transparent cases not adequately showing off the phone, but that looks excellent. I'm going to order one. This is a gorgeous phone, but I worry about dropping it.
A drop is not good for any phone, no doubt. The case will help as long as its not flat on the screen. The case fits perfect, as you would hope, from an OEM case.
I want a clear hard case, as I'm not really a fan of TPU.
Unfortunately I don't see any good ones yet. Nillkin usually makes cases for some of the more obscure phones, but I don't see anything from them yet.

I'm considering getting this case from amazon. It's not clear, but it would protect the finish on the case and still allow the buttons to show (which I really like the look of). I may pull the trigger on one as a guinea pig to see if the case that shows up is actually for the Axon.
EDIT: Ok, so after researching the company that makes the case and comparing products, I won't be getting this case. It's simply a polycarbonate shell that goes on the phone. Nothing between the plastic and the phone. I'd worry about scratching from the hard plastic against the phone. OEM case it is then.
EDIT 2: Ordered the OEM case, it should be here Monday. I got a call on Friday from ZTE to tell me my case was on the way and to give me my tacking number. Not an automated message or pre-recorded nonsense. An actual human being. So color me impressed. I'm hoping that ZTE will continue the awesome customer service with this phone.
Just got my phone and wanted to share with you this..
Ordered Nagebee flipcase for the ZTE Axon with it and:
The cutouts on the left of this case DO NOT FIT the Axon Pro.
Can be fixed by cutting it out yourself.
I have searched and searched but havent been able to find a decent case anywhere. I ordered my Axon Pro and it should be arriving tomorrow. I always like to have a good case for my phones as well as a screen protector but there doesn't seem to be anything available yet. Anyone find anything decent yet or tried any from Amazon even though the display picture isn't correct yet?
I too have to find a decent case yet. The cases on Amazon aren't good.

Unfortunately the ZTE TPU Clear Case is the Best Case So Far
Not a TPU Case fan but it seems to be the best case going as far as fit and still showing off the phone... Everything else either hides the phone or adds additional size... I have one and use it whenever I am going some place where I may drop it... otherwise I go bare and slip it into a pouch like below:
http://www.pack-smooch.com/en/phone-cases/apple/iphone-6-plus/elie/elie-for-the-iphone-6-plus.html
or a fit bag:
http://www.amazon.com/fitBAG-tailored-Alcantara-integrated-MicroFibre/dp/B005TGIJDK/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1439862432&sr=8-4&keywords=fitbag+iphone+6
:good:
The official case does look nice on the phone, I will say that. I didn't like how the buttons felt so I cut them out with a little extra space so I would be able to push them. Looks horrible, but it works until I can figure out how to smooth out the rough edges as a file doesn't work on TPU.
Right now, the official TPU case is the way to go. I bought 3 other cases that almost fit if it was for the volume control. For some reason it's a lot lower on the 3rd party cases.
I manned up and got the case from ZTE directly, and as mentioned previously they call you to confirm shipping etc. A real person calls you. That's some service right there. Hopefully, it'll sell a few more and we'll get some good 3rd support for the device as ZTE has got the customer service nailed.
I just received this case for the axon. All of the cutouts line up properly. It's a little bit bulky, but it's beefy. It feels like it could survive a decent drop and looks pretty nice. It'll do until something nicer comes out I think. The only weird thing about it is like in the photos, there's space on the case for the fingerprint scanner on the lux, so I think it's meant to fit both.
Has anyone else had any luck hunting down a good alternative to the ZTE TPU case? Amazon is still a wasteland of generic chinese silicone/PC hybrid otterbox wanna-be's. I can't stand silicone because it's a nightmare to get out of your pocket and needs to be cleaned daily for lint.
I got this case from Aliexpress and it works great fits good and had a nice grip.

I received tons of cases as usual, but i am pretty impressed by the leather case i received.
I actually used their case for Galaxy S8 for 1 month, liked it, but it was a little bit too thick
When i received the note 8 case, i found it is 1/3 thinner, and they finally add the magnetic closure.
i will update it when i receive my phone at Wed
BTW, the company is looking for testers to provide feedback for their products, if you are interested, you can go to their page www.facebook.com/artech21 ask for one.

Very nice, quality leather!!
First off, the presentation. The way the product is package, you can tell it was shipped with care! I was quite taken back by the hand-written note I found in the case, it was thoughtful and really present the quality of the company.
The case itself is nice made. It feels nice in the hand and does not come with any odd smells I tend to get from the so call leather cases I have bought in the past from others. The texture is nice and is true to the leather. It is genuine leather, do not let my bad pictures present otherwise. The stitching is good!
What I love about the case is the wallet part about it. I have stopped buying regular cases for my phone since the s4 and now only get wallet cases. This is by far one of the sturdy ones that I have found, making it perfect as a phone stance. The wallet part is tight but you can put a good 3-4 cards in there, including your ID card. The cash pocket is really night as well, it is not completely loose and I can tell with time, it will retain the shape.
I also really like the case itself, where you can place the phone, because of the edge raise. In the event the wallet falls open, I am confident my phone will stay intact along with the screen. Additionally, the magnet on the case is good, it does not open doing your typical everyday movements, unless you open it yourself. Lastly, the cut outs for the camera, charging, microphone, the pen, and the head-jack are all point. I have not received my phone yet but I was able to test it out with my friend Note 8.
This is simply a quality product, I love it! My friend will be ordering the black one as well.

Bought the Nomad Leather case from Best Buy. A really good Folio type case holds the Note 8 very secure, yet easy to get out when needed. Buttons and S-pen are easy to get to as well. Does a good job of protecting camera lens too.
My post was more than a month ago folks before the phones actual release date, they were quite a few of us that received them early as you'll recall. At that time I had already returned one case because of the magnet and had a second that was canceled by the manufacturer before they sent it. So a valid warning in its time but more than a month later I would expect most cases that had problems with the magnet have long since sorted it out. I'm on a black DavisCase now, it's exactly what you would expect from them with both superior leather quality and above average construction.
