[Q] Lapdock work with JB? - Motorola Atrix HD

I'm considering upgrading from the OG Atrix to the Atrix HD but I need to have a working lapdock for work. I use citrix to access my work computer and am worried about the up-scaling issues. (or if the dock will be recognized) I saw that the Atrix HD worked with ICS but there was some conflicting posts about the official JB update. Any information would be great. Thanks.

Mine did not work with JB, but does with ICS.
Nothing but a blank screen on JB, so I stuck with ICS.

Just tried it, same thing as the ahd rom... JB doesnt stretch the picture properly. Different in CM10, it just wont turn landscape whatever you do, even if you force it, it will show landscape in portrait mode.

You guys wont believe what I found... its actually an android-wide issue, Google has royally f***ed up all HDMI screen detection and stretching other than 720p and 1080p in JB, I'm not that smart to say if its a configuration or kernel issue though.

This really sucks. I want JB but this is the only thing holding me back.... why google why?

Question - there is the Mexican retail stock ROM on the development forum that is 4.1.2, is there a possiblity that it will work properly? Is it worth $25 to find out? I only ask because there is a garage sale page out on Facebook that my wife subscribes to and someone is getting rid of a mint condition unit.

No it doesn't work.
But yes, you can go back to 4.0 and it will work there.

Should we assume moto isn't going to fix the issue?

Maybe in their next phone if it has hdmi out, but even thats a stretch.

i have a lapdock for the ATRIX 4G modded to work with ATRIX 2, after i got the Atrix HD it still works with it... with Stock 4.1 BUT the celphone screen stays ON it doesnt work like with the old ATRIX 2 where i could set it to show screen in the laptdock only saving the phone from overheating... Anyone knows a way to make the Phone to poweroff screen while leaving lapdock on?, The other issue i have is with the resolution it seems the default table mode in the ATT 4.1.x is with a resolution smaller than 720p and it isnt filling my screen well.

1, You need to go back to android 4.0 for the screen to not stretch.
2, Delete the updater apk so it doesn't nag you go back.
3, Screen standby app on xda is free.

I was searching the updater.apk path to rename it and i found this:
cbrunner said:
Yes, you're right. That was dumb on my part.
My phone just did this again. The only thing I changed in this situation was the renaming of Updater.apk. So, either my device is defective or renaming Updater.apk somehow kills the phone eventually, but not immediately after you rename it. Just FYI in case anyone else thought about doing this.

Now im kind of scared to remove it i know that phone was HTC not Motorola but... And both UPDATE and APK seem to be the most famous words in this forum hehehe im getting lots of results with no real path.

I did it for a friend and he said the update nag didnt dissapear. Its not the updater apk the name is somthing else or maybe he just needed a restart. If you find out the exact name, write it here.

Is there any confirmation the lapdock 100 and lapdock 500 are working PERFECTLY FULL SCREEN with an atrix HD ? (1280x720 is ok, I can live without overscan)
not like the crappy 720x576 we get on the original Atrix 4G lapdock.

Just got mine this afternoon. Rooted & debloated, it's awesome. I never use stock tons, but in this case, it's not bad....
i got mine a few hours ago. i can't put it down. love browsing the web using firefox 4 in webtop. just need to grab a bluetooth mouse and keyboard. currently using the webtop adapter right now. the on screen keyboard is a tad slow, but won't be an issue with a real blue tooth keyboard. cant wait for devs to get ahold of this monster!
Car Dock Mode
I've been around smartphones a long time and have owned most of all types on the market. The Thunderbolt is a sweet phone with some of the new custom ROMs installed. Being the technology junky that I am I had to try out the Bionic. Nice. Smooth Smooth Smooth. I had to work at making the Thunderbolt what it should have been from HTC and Verizon, but the Bionic comes that way out of the box.
I travel a great deal, the Bionic is spot on in the car dock. I use Car Dock Ultra with Audible books, Google Nav, Google Places, etc etc. This phone does it all, no hesitation, no faults - it just works.
I rooted so I could use tether occasionally on the road but for now that is a no go. Still got my Bolt so I can still get it done.
Nice phone.

Its a little black box that plugs into your phone. I have an idea what it does but not sure. The funny part is, I have one.

Webtop Mod

I was wondering if any one has tried modifying the webtop portal and dock files to allow it to show on screen when HDMI is connected, like the Atrix and Bionic? I didn't see anything online about it, but I think this would be cool if someone was working on it.
Have you tried NebTop?
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dr...op-universal-hdmi-webtop-hack-working-d4.html
Apparently, I didn't do enough research, because that's the exact thing I was talking about. Thanks
This is exactly what I was looking for. Paid the $4.12 to support the developer. It was a much better deal as opposed to going out to buying the dock for $50 or the docking station for $100.

I have a travel adapter that enables webtop yet I have no control of the cursor... .246 First impressions

Hi all,
I upgraded from .2233 with a layover in .905... my first impressions are that the differences between 2233 and 246 are minor at best. All the problems I had before are still present from the previous ICS build and were functional in GB 905.
Problems:
1) Bluetooth audio is broken- I have a Nokia 360 bt speaker which worked perfect when streaming with GB on Bluetooth. However, both ICS builds are non-functional. Oddly the 246 wont even pair while the previous build did that but with no sound streaming.
2) That high pitch whine (in ear buds) is present when no music is playing (it goes on and off) -this was never present in the GB.
3) In-line mic controls don't work and they never worked before, even for GB but its darn annoying. The microphone doesn't work and the volume controls/center action button don't do anything beyond play pause (even though they are 3 buttons).
Its a nice ROM but its ridiculous that these small features are were never fixed.
any other issues you guys found?

One thing I don't like about it is that you can't select between using 3g and 4g like you could before. I frequently set it for 3g to save on the battery life when 4g isn't necessary.
I also had a problem with it scanning my SD card for errors and it wouldn't read it so I had to put a different one in. The funny part is that the card works on other devices but stopped working on the bionic today. It's definitely an annoyance but something I can live with.
The performance is nice though. I do have more network issues now than I had on gingerbread but as far as how fast apps open and the screen slides, its much better.

You can switch between 4G and 3G, just not the same way as before. You need to do it through the programming menu. To do this, you dial *#*#4636#*#* then select phone information, then select CDMA auto (PRL) from the preferred network type menu for 3G, and LTE/CDMA/EvDo to go back to 4G. There are also a few apps on the market that automate that, such as one called LTE On/Off, which is for the Thunderbolt, but also works on the Bionic.
Thanks for the information. I have one other question. Is there anyway to get the desktop Firefox browser onto webtop like gingerbread had?

No clue, I've never dealt with webtop. Hopefully someone who has can tell you.
I haven't had any BT issues, but the headphone whine has been back with the ICS leaks, since 232, at least.
Ive yet to experience any whining
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using Tapatalk 2
Coming from 232, this isn't too different feeling. My phone is running smoother but that may also be due to wiping everything as well. The set up screens were a bit different and I liked it. I haven't used headphones yet so I'm not sure if the whine is still here but I'm assuming it will since, as far as I have heard, it's hardware.

You'll have to search for that. You may be right, but I try not to use one-click roots. I actually do in and perform the steps these utilities do so I know it's done right, and I learn something in the process. However, it is really easy to root either way so don't let that deter you from loading 246. :good:

HDMI mirroring to lapdock after OTA 4.1.1

I updated my ATT Atrix HD (on Bell) to 4.1.1 OTA.
found out the hard way we lost the HDMI mirroring to the lapdock screen.
it works fine mirroring to my LCD TV but not when plugged in the lapdock (even with just the hdmi port plugged in)
it goes in a kind of 1280 x 540 mode screwing up the screen.
Was ok on ICS, still fine on my 2 LCD tvs but not on the lapdock.
Its a problem with all JB androids... I'm selling mine now as theres no way to go back...
Still the RAZR HD can go back to ICS from JB but as of yet not the Atrix HD... makes me wonder if there is a way after all.
Wait so I can not use HDMI to my HDTV anymore?

it worked on 3 LCD TVs at home/cottage but the lapdock cannot deal with the hdmi signal JellyBean put out on the hdmi connector.
... or as HDMI ports are bi-directional, JellyBean detect the Motorola Lapdocks and mess with the output resolution on purpose (any other HDMI capable device will play nicely with a lapdock screen... as was the Atrix HD with ICS.)

All of us with Lapdocks have been looking into that for a while now. There's some tricks that can be done with 4.1.1 and 4.1.2 to get the screen working (see the last few posts/pages under the lapdock topic under our Original Development for them), but nothing since 4.2+ has worked for any amount of time stable (best I've had with 4.2+ is about 3 mins with 4.4 Carbon a couple of weeks ago and nothing since).

Now an officially supported AOKP device

http://aokp.co/release-jb-mr1-build-4/
Anyone check it out and see how it compares to Hashcode's CM10.1 build? I'm assuming it suffers from similar bugs such as no hwcomposer
Edit: I now see that Hashcode is actually an AOKP maintainer now, so chances are high that this is very similar to his CM10.1, save for the AOKP features
Waiting for more feedback before I check it out.
I've been running it for about a week. I'm really enjoying it. It's very fast, light on battery, and stable. As long as you use a third party app for camera/camcorder, everything works. I would definitely recommend trying this out.

Funny I don't have problems with either of those. Yes camera is a known issue with all JB Kexec roms. You need Camera FX or something of the like.
To previous poster yes I find this way ahead of Icarus HD in terms of JB speed and features. Only thing missing from Icarus is stock camera and if you like the dock apps and smart actions you don't have those stock have to get them yourself.

stock for the rom seems to be the one with all, cdma, lte, gsm, etc. I have not had these issues at all on rev 5. Try "reinstalling" the rev 5 in bootstrap over the current one, that fixed an issue I had with data on the radio for a couple hours.
New build released!
I just installed MR1 build 6 and the stock camera works out of the box. Good start to a new ROM release!!
NOTE: You _NEED_ to install it in rom-slot2. It will tell you that after you start flashing, so when you're too late to cancel it.

yeah that is weird to me
Anyone know how to get Motorola Smart Actions to work on this ROM? Also the Stock Cardock app would be nice as well. Let me know if it's as simple as just putting it in system/apps and installing. Thanks!
If it doesn't work get Tasker. I know it's pay ware but it's only $2 down from $7. It beats the Crap out of the smart actions tool.

Get Car Home Ultra for your car dock. It's light years better than Motorola's cardock.
Has anyone tried the Pacman rom out yet?
