Stay in sync, save battery, data traffic and money.
WARNING for Android LOLLIPOP users: Mobile Connection Cycle Works only on Rooted Devices.
One of the functions that use a lot of battery is the data connection.
Using this app you can also save 30% of battery; this means that at the end of the day you can have 30% battery instead of a fully discharged battery.
This application is useful to save battery, data traffic and money, also limit the device radiation and stay in sync.
It allows you to cyclically connect to the Mobile Network or to the Wifi one to synchronize e-mail, appointments, contacts, program data, etc.
With the "Cycle when Screen Off, Connect on Screen On" option Checked you can have Automatic Connection when Screen is On and Cyclically Connection when Screen is Off; you can forget to switch the connections!
You can also delay the termination of the connections when you turn off the screen; this is useful for example when you are using a Chat App and you're waiting for a quick response.
Review on xda-developers Portal
With the "Cyclically connect regardless screen state" option checked you can Cyclically Connect when you are using the device for example, while you're watching a movie.
If a Wifi connection is available it will take precedence over the Mobile one, to save data traffic and money in case of not-flat rates.
You can also enable sounds and vibration alerts, enable and disable notifications (PRO), set start at the boot, suspend the cycle and enable connections when the device is Plugged, set the type of connection you want when you turn on the screen or the device is Plugged or Unplugged and set the times at which the cycle is suspended.
The application installs some WIDGETS that allows you to activate the cyclic connection or turn on/off quickly the Mobile and Wifi Connections.
To be synchronized and save battery power, for example, set "Activate Data Connection" every 10 minutes and "Keep Data Connection Alive" for 45 seconds.
Advanced features will be developed in the future...

hey mate! I love your app, it's the best battery saver in my opinion. but recently I have had some issues with network connection. When I switch the screen back on and cycle stops there is no network connection available, even though I status bar shows all bars and internet icon like if it was working. As soon as I reboot its fine, but after some time it happens again((( I'm on CM10 HOX. Please do something)))

Hi, first of all thank you, and since it is Christmas, I wish you happy holidays.
As for your problem, in my tests it never occurred.
My App has been tested by me on Samsung Galaxy S2 Gingerbread and Galaxy Note II Jelly Bean, both Samsung Stock firmware.
It could be a compatibility problem with CM10 or a problem with your device that might be in error turning on and off very frequently the connections.
If you do not use my program it never happens?
Try disabling my app and turning on and off very frequently the connections.
Try to use only the mobile connection (sometimes the wifi has problems) and set up a cycle long enough (at least every 10 minutes for 60 seconds of connection).
You can also try to ask to CM10 team.
As soon as possible I will install CM10 on Galaxy S2 and I will do the test.
Sincerely

Hi gregeast,
The option "Screen off during call" is location on OS Tweak under the Phone section. Uncheck that checkbox to keep the screen on during phone calls.
Thanks for the quick reply. I'm running version 2.25 Build 2. I was running in landscape display and couldn't see the --More-- button on the second OS Tweek screen to get me to Phone. In portrait it's there, just FYI.
Oh, and it worked

Here is my current SGS config = Excellent Return on Battery Life
Current ROM - Doc & Kal ver 7.6.2, no lagfix installed - All tweaks enabled via CWM Might Disable-Phone is more responsive and faster but of course to much speed increases battery usage... 50/50 about tweaks imo...
AutoKiller - Settings set to optimal (i personally think strict kills heavily and programs restart to often which in turn uses battery life)
Rooted
Sync - Off
GPS - Off
Auto Rotation - Off & Off in Zeam
Brightness mainly off and minimum in Browser
Using both H/3G and 2G network
Launcher - Zeam
Homescreens - 2
Wallpaper - Dark coloured
Screen 1 - Battstatt (4x1), SiMi Clock (4x1)
Screen 2 - Power Control Plus - 2 options (brightness - Auto and off) & Screen Timeout setting -15 sec & 10 min)
6 icons (win7 type) Used Desktop Visualiser App, Beautiful Weather Widget (Updates Interval Manual)
Themed - Elegant Steel (Whole Rom)
Installed Zeam and ADW as a back up.
Windows Animation - Full
Cache Cleaner Installed
Adfree Android Installed
Xda Installed
GTasks Installed
Sms Backup & Restore installed
Titanium Back Free installed
Asop Stock Lock with extended controls Installed
Couple of other non-essential apps
Thinking about removing(No use for these):
Google Talk
The look of the phone might seem bland, but i prefer simple, clean and polished.
And yes my phone is smooth...But the main thing is the impressive Battery Life returned in use and idle.
Annoying question:
What do you consider excellent and what do you compare it to?
Install juiceplotter and give us some times. I get about 8 hours out of charge or 3hrs if on 3g

Well, not really a comparison but an example of what battery life I can achieve with my set up, of course its not to everyone taste but if you look closely you will see that I don't have any active battery services running constantly.
As it stands now I have achieved a 3% drain in 8 hours overnight idle time with my set up, that extra boost was achieved by removal of beautiful widgets and quite possibly the alteration of my status/notification bar which is no longer a shaded grey but now transparent (gonna add a screen shot today)
But my set up goes to show that you can have excellent battery life, but you have to balance the phone etc. more is less and less is more.
And I think its fair to say that even in daily usage you should by able to get good usage in my set up, because I will have nothing running except for what I am doing, rather then having a double drain.

Thats very bad.
I'm running Froyo 2.2 Scandinavian Update through Kies, Voodoo Lagfix. With the Exchange email bug active (constant 10% cpu load in background), 3g and Bluetooth on and moderate use, i drain from 100% to 20% in 11 hours.
With the Exchange email bug disabled (setting retrieval of email to Never), but with 3G and Bluetooth on, i drain from 100% to 50% in 11 hours with moderate use.
I recommend you to install SystemPanel app and let it monitor CPU usage for a day. The Top apps consuming cpu will become clear. My Galaxy CPU usage with the phoe asleep idles between 1-3%.
i'm on 2 days and 10 hrs since last unplugged and have 8% battery left... using superpower xda... scheduled data on every hour for 5 mins. night time sleep airplane mode. using jp6, rooted, oclf v2 (optimum and deadline).

yes superpower app is really useful for those who want to extend batt life.
ever since i installed it i've been easily having battery life for over 2d (it usually goes down to about 10% after 2d 12hrs)
only downside is that it takes a slight delay in switching between 2G and 3G (bad if you're in a rush) and when at night you can turn on sleep but won't get calls (bad if there is an emergency)
i have a question though, how do you get rid of thinkfree? i tried going into applications and then clicking on 'all' but everything is greyed out and i can't click uninstall.
any suggestions?

I guess power saver has its pro and con like every other app.
To remove think free, I downloaded titanium free.
Launch it, then at the top click on back up and restore, then scroll down to think free. Click on it, then clear data, then click uninstall.
Job done
If you wish to use it in the future, download it from the market.

Tks for the tips...
May I add one?
At night, when going to bed, just turn cell radio off or put device on flight mode (unless you are expecting a night call)..
You will get even more juice

O yeh, Also install Startup Manager and disable all them useless samsung startup processes like SNS , email (if you don't use built in email and use 3rd party like K-9) and remote wipes. What I noticed is that If i disabled something major at next boot the system re-enables the service so Its kind of safe (My experience anyways)
Thanks for the tips and contributions..... Beneficial to all.

i think removing google talk is not a very good idea.
from what i gather google talk is the main-"google-account-login" that keeps your phone connected to the market. e.g. google talk not logged in = no market.

I suggest even users coming from CM9 to do a full wipe as many things such as notification bar was not working and many apps were crashing.

My battery seems to be performing fine with horsepower and MIUI on 150 min 1.35 max interactive cfq
First of all, this ROM is killer, thanks for that.
I found a few things which are not really bugs but which kinda annoy me:
-Long pressing menu doesnt open search
-There is no search option in the music player

I'm on Lollipop at the moment. Do you have any further information or links on this? I've been looking but can't see any that work without root.

It doesn't look like this is possible unless you have root.

It's a small task but very long to explain. If possible could you send me your email id. I will email you the procedure with some screenshots
I an looking to use tasker or automatic to create the following rule, incoming call=turn on BT, connect to headset, answer call; end call, turn off BT after 30 seconds. Is this wishful thinking or can it b done with one of these apps. The BT wakelock is killing me. If it matters I'm running Pure Nexus 12/19 with latest ElementalX kernel. Thanks in advance.

Honestly, by the time the call is received, bluetooth turned on, made a connection to your headset, and answer the call it would probably just go to voice mail. It's doable for sure but probably wouldn't help out any.
As for battery saving, here's my addition,
Quiet Time -> toggle all sounds off and set brightness to low @ 2130 until the next morning (I could probably turn off data as well)
Sync modes -> Toggle auto sync to off > enable every 30 minutes for 5 minutes > Sync> turn off sync
Thanks. I actually got it to work with Automagic app. BT turns on with incoming call or when I make a call, then turns BT off after I hang up.
My favorite battery saving tip for AMOLED device (provided you have a kernel with KCAL enabled) mimics Samsung's Ultra Power Saving mode by turning your device grayscale.
Just run this shell command to turn it grayscale:
Code:
echo "0" > /sys/devices/platform/kcal_ctrl.0/kcal_enable
echo "255 255 255" > /sys/devices/platform/kcal_ctrl.0/kcal
echo "255" > /sys/devices/platform/kcal_ctrl.0/kcal_cont
echo "0" > /sys/devices/platform/kcal_ctrl.0/kcal_hue
echo "35" > /sys/devices/platform/kcal_ctrl.0/kcal_min
echo "128" > /sys/devices/platform/kcal_ctrl.0/kcal_sat
echo "255" > /sys/devices/platform/kcal_ctrl.0/kcal_val
echo "1" > /sys/devices/platform/kcal_ctrl.0/kcal_enable
You can combine this with any context to make it run whenever you want.
Here's another battery saving tip - automatically set tasker to turn on airplane mode at say ... 1am and turn it of at ..6am. GSM modules are notorious for eating a noticeable amount of battery. There you go:
Tasker Auto Airplane Mode On/Off - http://forum.xda-developers.com/u/tasker-tips-tricks/tasker-auto-airplane-mode-off-t3316767
I can recommend an plugin for Tasker, name is Autoinput. It is very simple and awesome plugin that let you automate commands that in other cases needs root. You can for example toggle Power saving mode, Mobile data, NFC... whatever your want.
I use it daily for all different tasks since im not rooted (yet).
Hello friendz
My spend most of time in reading on cell, so the screen is the biggest sucker of my batt juice because i set screen timeout @ max(30min).
I wish any way that will increase my screen dim time(the time taken b4 screen goes to completely black) . So that I can save some amount of juice without affected my reading (hobby)
Any help would be highly appreciated.

I think that only works for Samsung devices, unfortunately.
I use following profiles/tasks for battery saving;
Auto-off Unpaired bluetooth (shuts off bluetooth after 2 min IF no BT device connected)
Autosync schedule Home (sync is off 20min, turns on for 3 min, then turns off. Repeat every 20 min)
Autosync schedule Work (sync is off 2 hours, turns on for 5 min, then turns off. Repeat every 2 hour)
Switch to 2G/3G when Wifi connected (no wifi = 4G/LTE)
NFC turns OFF if not connected to my home-Wifi (NFC battery drain is negligible though..)
Turn ON high accuracy GPS when opening Google Maps (back to balanced/power saving when Maps is closed)
Nightmode = Samsung power saving mode, Wifi OFF, Mobile data OFF, Sync OFF (since not Wifi connected). All these modes activated through tap of NFC tag (about 2% battery is drained on 8-9 hours)
Is auto sync for Google?

Hi, my name is Jorge Ruesga, and I frecuently contribute with open source code like CMFileManager, PhotoPhase and other libraries, as well as contribute to the CyanogenMod project. This time, with the help of my colleague Roberto Grande, we developed an app to control and monitorize the data consumption of the tethering interfaces in Android, so you never will be have a surprise when using your device to share your Mobile data with other devices. The app is a free (and ads free) downloadable app in the Google Play Store with In-App purchase to unlock some cool features.
ABOUT
Data Sharing is a WiFi hotspot and tethering management and control app. No more surprises while sharing your mobile data and exhausting it without realizing about it. Share knowing your mobile data consumption and avoid spent more than you want by define your desired limits.
FEATURES
The app have a set of cool features for free.
* Start/stop the shared data service for WiFi hotspot and Bluetooth tethering interfaces.
* Manage the time and data usage for WiFi hotspot and Bluetooth and USB tethering interfaces.
* Set the data usage and time limits by session, day and monthly cycle.
* Show connected devices or those have been connected ever, and allow to modified its displayed name and hide them from the list.
* Check activity by device.

LINKS
The app is downloadable from the Play Store at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.awake.datasharing.
To celebrate that Data Sharing was published in the Play Store, we gave away 50 promotional codes that you can grab from here (but you should be fast as hell to get yours ).
HELP
This app doesn't required root access, but it takes advantage of rooted devices to directly control the usb interface, not allowed without elevated privileges. In any other case it fallbacks to display you the system tethering settings activity.
We started this thread to provide you a way to report bugs, request features, obtain help and discuss about the app, so we are willing to hear your thoughts about the app.

Arg, looks all the code have been used
Thanks anyway
Seems that the our initial 50 promo codes are now exhausted. Here are few more free promo codes

KZH9PNVFJXQJVAW23UFRTAR
As I said via PM the codes seem invalid
But well I tried the free version which is btw very nice as it is and it works like a charm.
Would it be possible by long pressing the on/off button to shut down tethering for all type of connections ? Right now you have to shut them down individually (tbh, i only connect via wifi, but who knows).
Also i saw a Dark Mode so i was very pleased, ... just to see that the dark mode is only for the widget . Do you plan to add also a dark mode for the app itself ?
Thanks again

@Namoi, all seems fine with that codes. I just finish to redeem F616HCZ0PUUVWBMUA6J79JW code into the app, and all the pro funtionality was activated succesfully. Not sure what was wrong with your attempts of redeem the promo codes
Your proposal are a really good ones (long press and black theme). We'll really considere it for the next release. Thx so much for your comment.

Well, it must be perhaps my old "dark" modded playstore app ...
Another idea I had after a some tests (and because my tethering device went to sleep) , but not sure if this one would be easy or at least without root : when the providing device is set to disconnect wifi when screen is off (and when going to sleep) the tethering is broken. So would it be possible to break the rule when tethering is enable (I don't know if the two are bound : wifi and wifi tethering), but it would be great to save battery on the providing device.
Thanks again
PS: LOL it was : i went to my Galaxy Tab and go direct to redeem and entred the code : it says my device was incompatible, well OK , but it updated my GS2 to PRO.
Thanks

A really interesting idea. I need to check the aosp code to see if it could be done for a non-system app (or even via root access).

It would really be great I think as it is kind of problematic mostly on old device with weak battery. I am sure it would be possible using tasker but well not really straightforward (I also remember a guy here who designed an app to control wifi behavior - root was mandatory (if i remember well) -, will try to dig my subscription) ... and if a black theme is conceivable ? please, ... pretty please
Thanks again

We are trying to implement all this suggestions, as well to fix some bug fixes for the next release, but we need some time (a week or two) before we can release the next version.
Vesion 1.2.1 is rolling out in this moment (so it will be available in a few hours), with new funtionalities and a various bug and stability fixes. This is the full changelog:
- NEW: Add tap stats wheel view to go to activity stats
- NEW: Added button to stop all active interfaces at once
- NEW: Added an option to bypass current Wi-Fi sleep policy
- NEW: Added an option to determine the stop behaviour for day and cycle periods
- NEW: Advise users when its devices require Wi-Fi AP provisioning
- NEW: Dark theme for app
- NEW: Allow widget to be resized horizontally
- Other bug fixes and improvements
Enjoy it and share with us your thoughts, feature request and bugs.
@Namoi @pendor24 this is how it looks the dark theme. Hope it's enough dark for you guys. We want to respect a bit of the material design and colors of our original design
hellos
super thank you for this great job :bien:
Thanks,
Didn't had time to test the new features but it seem perfect
It is just the "dark theme" which IMHO should be, well, a little more dark : dark background (charcoal) and light text. I don't think it would clash with Material Guidelines, mostly with incoming N and the return of the black theme, but it is you to decide of course.
Will report ASAP about the wifi overriding policies.
Thanks again
