That's the best I could find for "instructions" and its not by the people (nomovok) who actually got it running so well. I believe in the link above the dev is having trouble with xorg.
Yes I wouldn't mind trying this to, especially if the OS is hardware accelerated throughout.
I would be interested too

I did some searching and was unable to find any other instruction for building or any downloads for meego on nook color. I am thinking this will rock if we can get it working.
Very cool! Cannot wait to give this a try
would be nice to have specific instructions, seems like the person on meego wiki instruction built the image using the source codes from meego and B&N. the person is suppose to post his image soon I guess?
can't seem to find anything directly from novomok though. Would be nice to try this out
oh looks nice and the Package manage is RPM I wander if we can install RPM apps
anyone know how to build from code.
I dont but I will test
here is a good thred to keep an eye on

This sounds interesting.
Still rocking the Incredible with the XDA Premium App.
quoting wmarone
"According to what I've heard, it's a chroot inside the Android 2.2 environment. So not much to be gained from the kernel there. Nonetheless, a cool proof of concept."
Too bad its a chroot, It'd be cool to actually have this running natively.
Interessting. I miss my n900. maybe my nook can help me to forget them ^^
I can't wait to flash meego^^
Any news about meego on NC ?
Haven't heard or seen anything at all about it lately. I would love it if somebody made some ARM Linux distro work on it. It'd open it up to everything.
You can check the Meego project for it but I'm not sure it's been updated lately.
The main problem is kernel.
Meego need 2.6.37 and above kernel, but no drvers for NC now.

Are we not on that kernel yet? Hmm, maybe it was 2.6.32 that we're on.
Good to know something about it though. I'd still love MeeGo on this thing. Think it would be pretty awesome.
I like how that looks. I miss MeeGo...

hehe , calm down cuz u will have vanilla android working out of the box ( so cm or aokp will work too i think )
Just means they haven't released source for it yet, nothing more significant than that. Sometimes stuff isn't finished enough for release, or they have licensing issues with a driver or two. Google *always* eventually release though.

I think some of you are overreacting. It's not in AOSP, YET.
From the man himself
To clarify: Nexus 4 is not supported in AOSP at the moment: no source
files, no binaries.

Well, you can download AOSP, type a few commands and have something that boots a nexus device fairly quickly. I haven't looked too hard at it but assume there are some binary drivers that get thrown in there.
Google haven't release the build system for the N4 yet - OTOH you could probably hack one together yourself (none of the hardware on the N4 is new to android so presumably the drivers are out there somewhere).
All nexus devices are trivial to update via fastboot, and have builtin unlocks, and the N4 doesn't change that.
Fingers crossed it will be I need the AOSP browser haha

My guess is that they cant open source a lot of the qualcomm stuff for the modem and the SOC. The TI OMAP is a very open SOC, but they are basically the only ones in the business that do that so if someone want to tinker with GPU, SOC or modem drivers the nexus 4 will not be as open as the galaxy nexus.

Sailfish OS looks really promising and next big thing after CM. Is there any dev for Sailfish here who could possibly port it to our devices? Or try to dualboot with CM? That would be fantastic.

And what is the reason that you want it so much? Just test it because looks cool? There are more important things, and porting the whole new system isn't an easy task, same thing is for Ubuntu Touch.

The problem is that the pre installed system is slow, buggy and it needs too much battery. If you use only google chrome the battery is after 2-3 hours empty.

Hello everybody!
Yes its been like for ever since i broke my HTC First and moved on and since then ive had an Atrix HD and now have a Red Nexus 5. Running lollipop.
But still i look back to this phone and still think this is probably the best phone ive owned. All day battery, great size and build quality, stock android. Yes development was always a minus, but still.
How is everyone doing?
PS: thinking of getting my sister an HTC First, its a pretty solid device hardware wise and she doesnt care much about software, she is using an old ipod touch and an ipad, shes tired of ios
Good to see someone else converting to the Android master race > lol. I agree with the fact that the battery generally lasted all day, but the lack of speed is what caused me to want to get something better. But yeah it was a good device when I came from a MyTouch 3G and then 3 Windows Phones.
Off topic here, are you seeing any drop in battery life on the official Lollipop update on your N5 compared to an AOSP version from a few days ago?

Haha I've converted to android since 2011 and my sister never likes apple anyways.
Miss this community so much, looks like everyone has left like Abraham and loir.
Um at first battery life was more like battery death but after a reboot and full charge I did manage to get my minimum of 4 hours screen on time. Hopefully tomorrow I'll get 5 hours.
I was thinking moto g, vs the HTC first, but I haven't found anything in it that is better than in the First. Especially for my sis who has really small hands surprisingly (she's 5 years younger but as big as me and I'm 19...)
still using my First and still hoping to get at least KitKat so that i can pair with android wear...
but looks like no luck and i have to change my phone soon.
:crying:
but seriously between first and Moto G, i'll get the moto G
at least you get official Lollipop support. 5 hrs SOT.
The 1st gen Moto G size is not that much bigger than the 1st

Yeah Lloir is no longer here since he bricked his First so he just upgraded to something else. Jmz is no longer here, and I'm not sure if sun_dream is here either. I know someone was working on a CM11 port but he told me that he needed to learn more before it was going to work well enough for daily use.

I just hate to see such a good device "go to waste".
I also wish i could port cm11, atleast learn some how, but my only computer is my desktop at home, and internet at 700kbps is not enough to do anything except browse the web. But if internet wasnt a problem id definitely try even though i have no idea how.
CM puts so much effort into mainstream devices that will get updates anyways and never focus on forgotten devices.

Yeah and it's sad because it didn't use to be like that. It's gonna be even worse when CM12 is released because they said that if a device 1) is not owned by maintainers or 2) can't cooperate with the new security measures then they won't support it at all.

Its like a more stable version of CM with more features brought over from other Roms but its not as crazy as paranoid android or aokp
I dont want to upgrade also, I know i'll miss the design of the First if I sell it
I agree, First is a great phone, stylish, great design and ergonomics, i will keep this phone no matter what. My daily driver is Moto X, 2013 model. I like to use my phone in one hand, never liked anything over 4.7-in screen size, have had Samsung S3, original Note, Note 2 and Note 3, traded them all, although i really liked S3 the most, couldn't live with the Notes. Htc First has become my backup phone. Previously, i used a Palm Pre Plus as my backup, but i finally traded it in.

Not that I know of. It's strange considering getting drivers for this chip set should be a piece of cake...
So I've tried my hand at porting miui to our device to no avail. It's actually making me reconsider this phone. Has anybody attempted a miui 8 port yet. I shot for 7. If we can get either working I'd actually keep this device for another two years. I absolutely love the hardware and it's hard to get rid of. 6 inch screen, front firing speaker, screw a fingerprint scanner. I have all of my files on my laptop.if anyone could be of assistance.
